Well, you've read the notes, the notes have had it with Mercury and its ever-lovin' retrograde, and now it is time for you to post until the retrograde cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RESTAURATEUR!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Topic of the Day: I've never been a believer in astrology. I have friends who are...kind of, and that's fine, but it doesn't interest me.
-
~~~Be Well QUICKLY Vibes for BK's Helper's Mom!!~~~
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Yesterday was a fraught day. At 8:00 I went to bed and when the alarm rang at 5:30, I refused to get up. At 6:15 U finally got up. Annabelle stayed with me all night. Thatch came and went, and Stella showed up around 4:00 for a bit before moving on.
-
I have no idea whose offices are open today - isn't this what used to be Columbus Day? - but I will call my urologist's and radiologist's offices and inform them of EmblemHealth's rude phone call yesterday morning, and see what they advise.
-
My Medicare is with EmblemHealth, but last year's surgery and my urologist-radiologist are with another health system, Northwell Health, which is connected with Aetna. I plan to call them as well to inquire about changing Medicare providers.
-
I'm out for blood.
-
BK, I must say I'm in agreement with DR singdaw about your helper and her mother. They sound like the bargain(?) basement branch of assistants.
-
I am wishy-washy about astrology. In 1977 or 1978, when I was living in Ohio, an astrologer read my chart and told me, among many things I no longer remember - that I would live in a coastal city and work in recording. At that point, I thought, I wish, but I was focused then on acting and directing and only dreamed I might live in New York or Los Angeles.
-
On the other hand, every time my daily horoscope says I will get money or something successful will arrive, it never happens.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Dino is so talented! He plays the piano AND he makes great pizza!
Good morning to all. Have a great week
-
Good morning, all.
-
I didn’t remember the prizes, but they were certainly there yesterday.
-
Off to start the day.
-
~~~MOST EXCELLENT VIBES AND XYLOPHONES OF ALL SORTS~~~ for bk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good morning.
-
I cancelled my appointment this morning, left a message for my urologist, and just spoke to Shon, the radiologist's assistant. I told him what I knew so far, and he told me he would call accounting and see if they know anything.
-
Mercury may be in retrograde, but what about this?
-
I just got this message from my regular doctor:
This is just a protocol - most likely your oncologist needs to provide more information to the insurance company - please touch base with them and see what needs to be done
I remain wary. I had no problems like this with last year's surgery.
-
More vibes for Elmore.
-
I discovered we got a lot of rain last night. The ground around the house and my plants, old and new, are all happy.
-
Here’s hoping everyone gets through any necessary paperwork today.
-
Let’s move on …
-
Two!
-
Good morning!
-
Insurance vibes for DR elmore!
-
Good morning, all.
-
What a hideous round of circumstances so many of us are dealing with.
I second the sentiment re Mercury. Get OUT!
-
It's not Ask BK Day, but I'm just curious:
Which Sondheim song did you remove and which did you replace it with?
-
I don't have much to say for myself this Monday morning. I had a toss-and-turn-y night of sleep. I'm back at rehearsals these next four nights. I'm washing the bed sheets and blankets as we speak. The trash gets taken down to the road this afternoon. The DVR is set to record 9-1-1 this evening and La Brea tomorrow night, and I'll probably watch them when I get home each night.
-
One bit of good news is that our director was able to cast that last man in Wreck the Halls without even auditioning him. It's someone he's worked with in the past, and as we had hoped would happen, he just suddenly turned up and was the right person for the job. We were really lucky that way on this whole production, because three of the original six had to drop out this year, and the other two excellent replacements appeared just like that, too. And I was able to procure my original bassist and drummer, so barring any untoward events, this should proceed pretty smoothly now.
-
Vibes for all that this day ends up better shape than it was in when we entered it.
-
TOD:
I don’t believe in horoscopes, but I love reading them. I do believe that certain characteristics apply to certain signs. Librans, like myself, don’t see the need for conflict. It bothers the equilibrium. But you can make generalities like that for anyone.
But I do believe the full moon affects people.

Vibes for BK!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

IS anyone else having nice warm Fall temps? It's been around 70F for the past 6 days. It's amazing.
-
I believe the full moon affects people, too, and I have a silly personal take on it:
When driving, I find myself infinitely more irritated by people driving too slowly and hesitantly. I began recognizing this during full moons several years ago, and I describe it as those other people "being pulled down by it". Or it might possibly be that I, on the other hand, am "stimulated" (unfortunately, not in the government sense) by it, resulting in the same contrast between us. I can assure you all that I have yet to grow large amounts of fur and claws, etc., but perhaps time will tell.

Yes, and I'm grateful for it. We'll take any delay on bad weather that we can get.

They’re coming in a day or two. Highs in the low 80s instead of high 90s.

I don’t know if I believe you about the fur and claws part.

But then, some werewolves don’t know what happens after the transformation.

Got any silver bullets lying around?

Why is nobody dancing in the street? Can’t they hear the beat?

Just asking for a friend.

Strongest vibes for DR ELMORE.

STRONGEST VIBES FOR MR BK.
-
The Mercury retrograde will end on October 17 - so everyone just hang on!
-
I think astrology is a good tool and can be a help but it is not something to DEPEND upon.
So many other factors determine what we do and what happens to us - mainly our own actions.
It can help or guide us but it isn't necessarily an accurate road map all by itself.
-
As to the full moon - well the moon moves the oceans - and we are what 80% hydrogen? It has to have some effect on our physical beings......
Anyway.....
-
Well there is a Smart Car in my drive way. I am going to drive it around for a few days and see what's what.
Right now something is beeping and I'm not sure why.....we shall see.... Time to read the instruction book again.
-
Oh my! What kind is it, DR Jrand71?
Not that I know one from another. In fact, I don't know any of them.
I must ask, though: How smart does the new driver of a smart car have to be? There must be a considerable number of things to learn about it.
-
Such as: what that beep is. :)
-
I don’t care for the music of Rush and find most of this cacophonous, but the precision is remarkable.

I also don’t know why a marching band is with no guitars is making guitar shapes.
-
Three!
-
On that video, if you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, skip to about 12 minutes in. The finale is neat.

DR Michael, do you also celebrate today?

Lovely. We had some rain and some sun yesterday, temp was 54 degrees.

Wow, you get to test drive it for a few days or did you buy it?
-
Monday afternoon greetings! Even though, technically, I'm out of jail today, we're keeping a pretty low profile. At least I'm feeling some motivation to do a few things around the house.
-
I watched my soap with all three cats. Annabelle lay on her pillow, Stella lay a short distance from me, and Thatch curled up by my side. I'm trying to decide if I need to have some groceries delivered.
-
On the other hand, every time my daily horoscope says I will get money or something successful will arrive, it never happens.
I hate it when that happens...or actually doesn't happen. :P

Not I...at least in the evenings. It's been getting colder at night.

Congrats, Jrand!
-
I'm up, I'm up - about seven hours of sleep.
-
ChasSmith - We replaced Children Will Listen - just wasn't working and I'm not all that fond of the song, frankly, which I know is Sondheim heresy - the accompaniment is so busy and on piano it's just, well, it wasn't landing the way it needed to. We replaced it with the much prettier and much simpler Not While I'm Around.
-
Not heresy. Simply a matter of personal opinion. And one I endorse.

We want photos! Also, I want to know more about what a smart car is and does.
-
I remember seeing Tommy Lee Jones fold himself into his Smart Car. It did not look comfortable for a man of his height.
-
I just spoke to my brother Randy, who informed me that our cousin Eddie had written a book. I can't say it much interests me, but it's set in the territory where my dad and his brother grew up and where Eddie and his brothers spent much of their summers at my grandmother's house in the 1950s.

Congratulations though I think it is a good idea to take it easy for a bit.

IS anyone else having nice warm Fall temps? It's been around 70F for the past 6 days. It's amazing.
Not I...at least in the evenings. It's been getting colder at night.
It was 48 degrees when we left for the gym this morning. I, as usual, was wearing shorts. I do not look forward to when I need break-away pants over my shorts.
-
It is currently 52 degrees. I will wear long pants for our afternoon walk.
-
From John:
It was Pizza Hut and it was better than I remember Pizza Hut being. I think they upped their game.
Interesting. I used to really like it. I wonder if I still would. It has been a long time since I have had a pizza from there.
-
From John:
I may save it for when the book comes in. I've got Colson Whitehead's new Harlem Shuffle to read after The Library Book.
Yes, save it until you are reading the book.
I intensely disliked The Underground Railroad and never want to read anything by him again.

Everything of his is very different. He genre hops. Zone One was a fairly fun pandemic novel (not our pandemic). The Nickel Boys was almost a YA historical novel. Underground Railroad was Faulknerian. Harlem Shuffle is supposedly like a Chester Himes heist novel.
-
Plus, the new Jonathan Franzen, The Crossroads, just came in.
-
Too many books …
-
Let’s move on …
-
Four!
-
The ice cream truck just went down the street. Me want.
-
Back from the Apple Store and then picking up a package.
-
New CD/DVD thing is here and I was able to pry open the old one and get that CD out of there. But I'm nervous about trying to load that same CD in this thing, although at one point I did upload it.
-
Prying was interesting - they really don't want you to get inside this thing, but a thin, small screwdriver did the trick.
-
Well, looks like I wasted dough buying the new drive - it isn't working because iTunes has stopped recognizing it, which means I have to update the IOS to Big Sur. They've assured me that iTunes will be the same, just under "Music" and not called iTunes. So, after my Zoom I will nervously do it and hope that fixes all the damn problems this six-year-old computer has.

I am æffected. In more ways than one.

Bring on the snark! :)
-
Yes DR JANE......it belongs to my uncle and he just said one day last week would I like to buy it?
And the price was MORE than right. I'll be changing over the title and get a new registration and plates before the end of the month.
It is a most excellent drive - although it does take some getting used to.
I shall post more details anon. I got rid of the beep, but there is still a light on....that I have to study up to find out what that is.
But it is basically a front seat with wheels. There is plenty of room for me at 5'9" but not much cargo space, but that's okay. I'll just go shopping twice a week instead of once.
-
I took it to the car wash so now it does look much spiffier than it did.
-
Pictures in the next few days.

LOL, Zone One doesn't sound fun.

Plus, the new Jonathan Franzen, The Crossroads, just came in.
I haven't read anything by him yet. The blurbs just haven't appealed to me.
-
Too many books …
So true.
Today I began reading The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race by Walter Isaacson. So far it is very good.

Longhorn not included?
-
Gratuitous Post #110!
-
Whoopi-Ti-Yi-Yo!

On the laptop. So, upgrading to Big Sur - should be a breeze everyone tells me. I click upgrade. It does its thing and gives me the uploader icon which isn't responding. I call support. We do it again. Nothing. An hour later, I've rebooted in safe mode. We do first aid on the hard drive. Then we reboot in recovery mode and we begin the Big Sur stuff. It seems fast, under an hour so we schedule a callback at six. I go to Taco Bell and come back - while eating, the computer shuts off, starts up, goes a while, starts up and says it's twenty-nine more minutes, which means it should finish in time for the call. And now it's been sitting an eighth of an inch from finishing for fifteen minutes - and - no callback yet, so I'm gonna have to call them before everyone leaves.
-
Longhorn not included?
The Longhorn is bigger than the car ;D
-
This day was supposed to get better. For everyone.
-
So does the smart car only have 3 wheels? That's what I'D like to know.
-
Long day tomorrow. I'm fixing to go to bed.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night

Too many books …
So true.
Today I began reading The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race by Walter Isaacson. So far it is very good.
I really enjoyed that one. I liked it much better than his Steve Jobs book, mainly because I did not like Steve Jobs as a person.
-
Five!
-
2.5 hours of dancing tonight was .5 hours too much.
-
I'm tired.
-
Tomorrow night I have a sleep study at home. That should be fun. Not.
-
And I just got word that Loudon Wainwrite III has canceled his concert.
-
Good night, all.
-
Nothing is working on the iMac. Can't restore from the Time Capsule yet, it isn't fully loading Big Sur, so I'll write on the laptop. I'm petrified of losing stuff, but hopefully the Time Machine latest back-up from this afternoon is safe. Why it can't "find the Time Capsule is anyone's guess. The senior tech is calling in the morning - he's as upset as I am. At this point, I'd just be happy to get back to Mojave and the way things were. Frightening and just more crap we don't need to deal with
-

How exciting! Did you get a Mensa? I understand they are the ultimate (or they think they are).

I was born at 12 noon on August 23. I had one astrology reader refuse to do my horoscope, because I was an ultimate cusp. At the time, I had no idea what he was talking about.
-
The Seattle Repertory theater just announced their new season.
-
They are doing a play called TEENAGE DICK!
-
They are doing (I think) a new musical called BRUCE, based on a book called The Jaws Log.
-
Bruce was the nickname of the mechanical shark in the movie.

I went to a party back in the early seventies when I lived in Portland. There was a girl at the party who was really into astronomy.

She came up to me and said you must be a Leo, no a Virgo. She said that I must be a cusp, like born on the 23rd.
