Good morning, all!
-
If I didn't have three cats running my life, this is a morning I could have happily stayed in bed until I felt like getting up. Now that I am, I must pay a few bills today and if I feel really ambitious, seriously clean off my work table.
-
My Philly Pops direct deposit landed this morning, so it's nice to have some money. I will spend some time paying my insurance and browsing my Amazon cart to see what items seriously need purchasing. Petco is offering 20% off purchases over $50, so I may order some cat food as well.
-
Good morning, all.

Happy shopping, Elmore.

Turns out the Petco special was only if you picked the items up at the store, so I went to Chewy.com and ordered the cat food and litter.

The Mercury retrograde has left the building.
Oh, God, do I hope so!

The Scottish Opera's new production of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers looks like so much fun. O would love to see it.

That does look like a lot of fun DR ELMORE.

~~~CONTINUED MOST EXCELLENT VIBES~~~ for smooth sailing!!!!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
My main dream was a performance one, and naturally, things were on the verge of going completely to HELL as I blessedly awoke.
-
Don’t say that T-word, DR Jrand71.
Yesterday afternoon and evening were incredible. They don’t get much more beautiful than that. Today will actually be nearly as warm — I was wrong about that yesterday — but the rain will be moving in by this evening and the cooler spell commences on the morrow.
-
The Mercury retrograde has left the building.
Oh, God, do I hope so!
Is this a fact? Like, I could dare to try to get something done, or start something new?
I made zucchini fritters for breakfast. They’re kinda like latkes, but with a good egg flavor.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep, I think.
-
Those look delicious, DR John G.
-
From John:
Nearing the end of State of Terror. What I like is that these people read. They can quote Shakespeare and Donne, modern and ancient poets. And it's a part of who they are. Even more, they can and do think. How refreshing.
You might want to read something else by Louise Penny. I suggest beginning with "Still Life".
-
To clarify, Susan only asked if we were there to begin a conversation.
Good Morning. It's been a trying week in these parts. Please keep the Parish of Our Lady of Angels in Burlingame, CA in your prayers. Trying times are ahead. We'll be fine, but like I said, it will be trying times for a while.
-
Yes DR Jane I did get my first dose of astrazeneca and second dose pfizer. At the time of my first dose that was my only option. And when it was time for my second dose they were letting us choose. At first they were recommending 2 of the same. But then the recommended doing what I did.
In other news, to answer DR ChasSmith's question about working MainStage with all of these Mac upgrades. Well.... we'll see. Last year, March 2020, I upgraded my laptop that I run MainStage on from Mojave (I think it was) to Catalina for some reason, I can't remember, but it wasn't a good one LOL - but it was in the throws of the pandemic and no one really had much of a reason for anything. ANYWAY - I was told that was not a good move, and that some of my sound libraries would not work with Catalina. Not having a reason to use MainStage until now, I was afraid at what would happen when, indeed, I did need to use it. The other day, I opened up MainStage (took 2 tries) and loaded the last show I did (Mamma Mia! and everything seemed fine. So hopefully going forward, everything will be fine. However, a new laptop is on my wish list.
In other other news. I recently was able to procure the LP of the Original London Cast Recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1975 flop - Jeeves. I usually see it at an astronomical price, but I was able to get it for a very reasonable price. Excited to finally have the LP in my possession.
-
Vibes for DR MATTHEW & Our Lady of Angels.
Back from an omelet and a bagel.
-
No used CD store today, but did pick up one little package.
-
Thank you, DR Matthew. I've checked the workability of MainStage and Catalina only by launching it and playing around with a couple of my shows on the laptop, NOT with keyboard etc. connected. It seemed fine. I also haven't upgraded it to the 3.5.3 that it keeps "reminding" me about. I'm still on 3.4.4, and at this point I have no idea when I'll next have a use for it. My holiday show is a piano one, and I have nothing on the calendar beyond that.
Yeah, I'm not upgrading Catalina anymore. Not taking anymore chances!! I'm only doing playing gigs for now, so that's mostly Keys 2, so I'm stuck with MainStage - I'd kill for an all piano gig. LOL
Never could find that. It was always near the top of my want list.
Something I ordered from an eBay seller was shipped from Florida two weeks ago. It would have been here one week ago, but after it arrived at the regional hub in Jersey City, it decided to go to Cincinnati. Then it went to Pittsburgh, at which point there were no updates until this morning. It's supposedly in my mailbox as we speak.
A entire week's diversion.
Mercury?
You be the judge.
Well, Mercury and Mr. Joyboy.
Am I correct that you had the option of doing either Astrazeneca or Pfizer for the second dose?
Wow! I'm impressed. I've heard that original album, but I've never seen it for sale.
DR George it looks like Moderna will be your best booster option, though the study was done with a full dose vs the half dose.
Had a wonderful dinner of Sichuan dishes. One was crispy shredded chicken with chiles and vegetables. The other two were soups, one with spicy fish fillets and the other with beef, parsley and rice.
-
It was after a strenuous dance class. We only managed to get a working knowledge of two steps in 90 minutes.
-
Both were rather complicated. One involved alternating turns in quick succession.
-
My brain doesn't always work in tandem with my feet. I wish I could turn the brain off.
-
Oh, the dance was two-step, which isn't really two steps.
-
and now I'm home, watching the rest of The Europeans.
James Ivory and Ruth Prawer Jhabvala have captured James's sense of society at the time all too well. There's so much in the silences that swirl around the words.
'night
I can't tell if Lee Remick actually played the piano in the film, but, if not, she did a good job of faking it.
The DVD has some extras including a new interview with James Ivory. Guess I'll check those out.
Will this page never end?
Soon, I promise.
A Sondheim reference.
Four!
On to Nothing but the Truth. I love Paulette Goddard.
-
Some fellow named Bob Hope is also in the picture.
-
I need to get a shower, though.
-
I may take a bath and curl up with a good book for a while.
-
I need to finish Antony Sher's Year of the King.
-
And I need to finish this week before going on vacation.
-
I thought I was going to Florida in two weeks.
-
Turns out it's next Saturday.
-
And I still have three weeks of vacation left after that.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
I'm back from the bath. Don't know how much of Nothing but the Truth I can watch. The humor is very tired, especially the jokes surrounding Willie Best having been rendered black by coal.
-
I think I'm beginning to fade.
-
Sleep will certainly be better than this movie.
-
Off to bid J.B. good night.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing. Four movies today and tonight.
-
Got to do a Ralph's run either before posting or after posting the notes - out of all liquid refreshment.
Hello everybody, my name is TCB!
-
What’s your’s?
-
Let me entertain you,
-
Let me make you smile.
-
I can do a few tricks,
-
Some old ones and some new tricks
-
I’m very……
Oh Hell, forget it.
-
It was a lovely day today.
-
The temperature was 72 here in Puyallup.
-
A few degrees less in Tacoma
-
I met up with my sister, my niece, and my brother-in-law for pizza at The Cloverleaf.
-
Page five.
-
Kobe Bryant’s widow has to take a psych evaluation before she can file a wrongful debt suit??
-
What the hell is that all about?
-
I need to get a shower, though.
I would need the shower after I watched Bob Hope.
-
All I want for Halloween is...
That would certainly improve my mood.
-
Oh, back to lunch today. It was really wonderful. My sister has been sober for fourteen months and my brother-Ian-law has been sober for three months!
-
And my sister bought lunch.
-
I don’t know what was wrong with my niece today.
-
She just seemed a little off her game.
-
I hope everything is okay.
-
She is applying for a job with the State of Washington.
-
Ironically it is the job she used to do until the State farmed the job out to Pierce County.
-
She got farmed to the county, as well, but after a year or so the county did away with the position.
-
Hello, George.
-
Good night, George.
-
Oh, back to lunch today. It was really wonderful. My sister has been sober for fourteen months and my brother-Ian-law has been sober for three months!
Great news, Tom! Congrats to both of them!
-
And my sister bought lunch.
Very good news, sir, indeed!
;)
-
Hi, Tom.
-
And I still have three weeks of vacation left after that.
At my work, we can build up vacation until the end of the year. Going into the new year, we have to be under 240 hours or it gets moved into our sick leave, which has no cap.
-
My co-worker Linda took two and a half weeks of vacation in September. Now, she's taking THREE whole weeks THIS month because she has so much vacation and comp time built up...AND she'll still need to take a few days more before the end of the year. :o
-
I just checked a couple of days ago and currently, I have about 296 vacation hours, so I'll need to take about a week and a half off at some point. I don't want to move it to my sick leave because I have over 1300 hours of that!
-
They changed it several years ago, but it used to be that we had to be under 240 hours each month. To me, that seemed easier to manage.
-
Happy to hear of a wonderful lunch.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
If the big boy computer comes back working well, I'm gonna have a celebration lunch somewhere.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Listening to the Raiders of the Lost Ark soundtrack - it's really wonderful music.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Shouldn't we be on page six by now?
-
Who might know it, but what and I don't know might be in the dark.
-
Did a Ralph's run for liquid refreshment and plenty of it.
-
It ain't cheap, liquid.
-
And page six has finally shown itself.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
In the "before-times," there was only one time, or maybe two times, where I had accrued 240 hours of vacation. Otherwise, I would nickel-and-dime it all the time and keep it well below the cap without any trouble from my previous supervisor.
-
I am currently listening to Ezio Pinza sing “Some Enchanted Evening.”
-
My new supervisor now is more by-the-book and wants ALL vacation pre-approved (that's the official policy, but ultimately, it's up to the supervisor to require that or not). And she doesn't like me to take an hour here or there, so I need to figure out when I can take my vacation and submit it beforehand.
-
Fine, I'll jump through the hoops. ::)
-
;)
-
Now it’s Carol Channing singing “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.”
