Well, you've read the notes, the notes came home, and now it is time for you to post until the coming home cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOOVER!
-
Topic of the Day: none. ::) Not really my kind of movie.
-
Good morning, all!

Everything this orange colostomy bag does sure doesn't say "I'm innocent!"

Autumn is settling in. It was another chilly night. Annabelle slept somewhere asround my knees under the blankets, Stella slept next to me, and Thatch was nowhere in sight. I suspect it was because Stella had his place at the head of the bed.
-
I think this morning when I make the bed, I'll put Grandma's Quilt on the bed. I need to launder all the bedding and winterize the bed in the next couple of days.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
What great medical news, DR vixmom!
-
And a truly heartwarming story about your wonderful anniversary celebration dinner.
-
Still thankful for bk's mostly good computer news, as well.

A Study in Terror

The Silence of the Lambs
I love Bob Clark's Murder by Decree, but it's based on the now-disproven theory that Jack the Ripper's crimes were performed by Queen Victoria's surgeon to cover a royal scandal.
-
I'm not sure what's on today's agenda besides continuing the worktable cleanup.
-
DR vixmom, I've missed you! That's fantastic news about your health.
-
DR vixmom, that was a wonderful anniversary story.
-
Still thankful for bk's mostly good computer news, as well.
Ditto!
-
Congrats to MR BK on his computer and retrieving ALL of the cds from the car!
-
Great story AND news from DR VIXMOM.
-
I shall soon be on my way in my Smart Car to my early morning appointment with my new oncologist.
It would be nice if he also put me on a yearly follow up schedule.
Then I am going to go with my sister to take my uncle to his regular doctor - since our cousin has a dentist appointment this morning. So I shall be doctored out by noon.
-
Last night I watched Act Two of Sunday in the Park with George. I always thought it was not as good as Act One, but last night it really got under my skin, and I was moved by it. I don't think Bernadette Peters has been as good in anything since. I then watched "Sunday," the number from the 1984 Tony Awards on YouTube. It catches a few little things in the staging that the DVD's director missed, although neither one - because of too many closeups - catches the ingenious manipulation of the figures into their painting positions. It's a moment in the show where I wish the camera simply stepped bacxk and let us see the whole picture.

Good morning, all.
-
I surprised myself and slept well last night. The cooler weather has helped.
-
Had weird dreams about dancing, but it helped solve a problem, I think.

Not my favorite, but I did enjoy The Frighteners, Zodiac and Silence of the Lambs.

I agree about the filming of the finale. It misses some of the magic of seeing it in the theater.

GREAT news about the computer being so well cleaned and operating.
I look forward to hearing what's up with the CD drive.
Probably not the same thing, but last year I picked up an external CD/DVD read/write drive for the MacBook. It's some no-name thing from God knows where, but it had the specs I was looking for, good reviews, and the price was right, $25 or so. But using it is weird, and not what I'd experienced on Windows machines. I don't know if this is an Apple thing, or whether it's just peculiar to this drive, but when you connect it, it doesn't show up anywhere. The computer doesn't "see" it or "show it to you" until you load a disc, whereupon it appears on the desktop and, I guess, in Finder. Then I can use it okay, but removing it is different, too. It's been so long since I last used it that I forget what that entails. Anyway...just weird.
-
DR vixmom, what an amazing story.
(But really, all of vixmom's stories are amazing. Aren't they?)
Happy Great Health News, and Happy Anniversary!
-
Well, now I'm going to have to pull out Sunday in the Park and watch it myself. I haven't done so in I don't know how long. I need to see it straight through first, and then run it again while following the score.

Okay, heads up, folks. You know who you are.
Criterion's twice-yearly 24-hour flash sale beings today at noon, eastern: 50% off everything that's in stock, no pre-orders, no back-orders.
This is now my best deal on Criterions, because -- I hope this is still the case, but as of the last sale -- I still don't get charged sales tax, and I always spend at least $50 or whatever it is for free shipping.

Two!
-
Thank you, ChasSmith. There’s a Melvin Van Peebles set with my name on it.
-
My new oncologist is very nice....but I will see him again in six months.
My uncle didn't feel like going to the doctor - so I was all dressed up with nowhere [else] to go.
-
Today, one day after the scheduled appointment was canceled, and eight days after the telephone call denying my request for treatment, I finally received in the mail the official denial. Screw you, Louis deJoy for slowing down the postal system,
At least now I can speak intelligently to the powers that be rather than stammer ignorantly.
-
(But really, all of vixmom's stories are amazing. Aren't they?)
Yes.
-
:)
-
Sorry you are going through this, DR elmore3003. Hope it can be sorted out. But it sure takes an awful lot of work.
-
Glad for DR Jand71's good medical news.
-
Update: Criterion order placed. And scratch that about the sales tax. They were my last holdout for not charging Connecticut residents, I think, but that par-tay is over. :)

I paid tax.

But I placed my order. I picked an Eclipse box set of Japanese noir. Looking forward to it.

Sorry to read that Leslie Bricusse has died at the age of 90.
-
Yeah, just saw that.
-
But it's age 90: 1931-2021
-
Gasoline is up another 3 cents today. I paid $3.22 at BJ's yesterday afternoon, already an increase from $3.08 or thereabouts a few days prior to that and $3.01 prior to that. Today, $3.25. No idea what the regular stations are charging, but that $3.25 will be by far the best price around here.
-
Good afternoon.
-
But it's age 90: 1931-2021
Thanks for setting the record straight, DR ChasSmith!

Original post corrected.

Good afternoon, DR Laura.

Tuesday afternoon greetings! I ventured out today to deliver 3 boxes of donations to the site of AAUW Middletown's upcoming holiday bazaar. It was nice to visit with friends even though it was brief and I was masked.

Nice cool day.....I love autumn.

Happy Anniversary DR Vixmom! That was a wonderful story.
But I was thinking "who is Steve"?

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

Thanks for the heads up, ChasSmith! I forgot to actually place an order the last time. ::)

And three hours on the phone with Apple Support - my senior tech never called back so I got a new one. Very nice chap and after much sussing out the CD drive we now know the issue - the USB ports on the computer are putting out power, which is why my speakers work and why I can charge the keyboard and trackpad - but they're not outputting data or anything else, hence nothing shows up on the computer - not it, not the iPhone, not a flash drive. This all happened a week ago, which is just weird, as everything was working up until that point. I either have to try and have that fixed, which I don't have the time or energy or money to do, so no uploading anything into Music, and no setting up a back-up drive to do back-ups. There's only one other workaround that we don't know will work, and that's the Thunderbolt 2 ports, which I've never used. Of course, they don't really do that anymore - it's Thunderbolt 3 now or something - but I found one adapter on Amazon that we could try - it would hook up to the Thunderbolt port and then you'd put the USB stuff into THAT. Maddening.

Tried to text the helper's mom - text doesn't go through. I've about had it.

Have also asked Microsoft to call me and who knows when that will happen.

Stopped for a Tex-Mex plate after a trip to Lowe’s.

Chicken fajitas and beef enchiladas.

Today is World gin and tonic day.
-
Thank you DR VIXMOM yes it was.

Microsoft called and I got some things straightened out, so that's good. I couldn't replicate the issue I was having trying to open documents directly from the "view recent" option on the Word icon - but it's working now, seemingly.
-
Heard that Leslie Bricusse has passed away. I thought it odd that someone contacted me about doing Pure Imagination, the revue I created of he and Newley's songs, and that the BBC contacted me - they're doing a little tribute and are interviewing me in about fifteen minutes.
-
Interview vibes for BK.
-
Was there a recording of Pure Imagination?
-
No recording. I would never have recorded it with that cast - my people were fine - Jane Noseworthy and Sami, but their people, while okay in the show, would have been terrible on a recording.
-
Interview was fun and they'll send me a link.
-
Had just enough here to make Wacky Noodles - a really good batch it was, too.
-
Just did a quick Gelson's run and they finally had some chocolate chip muffin tops, so grabbed two.

Too bad.
-
Back to Mona Lisa. I know the ending isn’t going to be a happy one.
-
I think I’ll put on Goodbye, Mr. Chips next in honor of Leslie Briccuse.
-
I got 5 iris bulbs planted. I do hope they grow. They’re my favorite flower.
-
According to imdb.com, Neil Jordan's pre-production film is Marlowe, with a script by Benjamin Black (aka John Banville) and Liam Neeson as Marlowe. Not sure about the casting, but the rest is promising.
-
:)
-
Good night, friends.
-
Good evening!
-
Hope we'll be able to see your interview, BK!
-
Nice anniversary story, DR vixmom!
-
More vibes for DR elmore!
-
I've gotten almost an hour into Chips. I know that this isn't BK's favorite movie. I have only seen it once and just remember being embarrassed by some of the lyrics. Well, I'm still embarrassed by some of the lyrics.
And did we really need that image of the nude boy in the silly song from the school boys?
-
What is this page three malarkey?
-
Where is everyone?
-
Having dinner with Vixmom?
-
On the road with Jane?
-
Fixing BK's computer problems?
-
Four?
-
Ordering from the Criterion sale with ChasSmith?
-
Smartcar-ing it with JRand?
-
I made it to intermission. Tomorrow will bring the rest of the movie.
-
Good night, all.

I guess I will pass. Don’t see anything I would order.

Topic of the Day: none. ::) Not really my kind of movie.
I was afraid BK would ask us to name our favorite Francesca Eastwood films.

Sorry to read that Leslie Bricusse has died at the age of 90.
I am very sorry to read that.

Hi, Tom.

That's pretty cool about being asked to be interviewed.

Gratuitous Post #100!

That is pretty sad...but at 90, he definitely had a long life.

At least, a dozen posts.

I am glad they were able to reach you, BK. I hated to say no, but Les and I had a bit of a falling out.

My goodness, it is late.

I quickly looked through some titles and A Raisin in the Sun (https://www.criterion.com/films/28826-a-raisin-in-the-sun), starring Sidney Poitier and Ruby Dee interested me.
-
Not good.
-
Then, I remembered a similar title that has a new Blu-ray release, but not on Criterion, A Place in the Sun (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0959GNZ6R/), starring Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift and Shelley Winters. I'm thinking about getting that from Amazon.
-
Then, I remember another non-Criterion Blu-ray, A Patch of Blue (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R5555KH/), which brings this all full circle because this stars Sidney Poitier and Shelley Winters. :)
-
I think I might get these three movies...just because.
-
So, how was your day, George?
-
I went to lunch with two buddies today.
-
We went to Sizzler Steak House.
-
Possibly the last one in Washington State.
-
This one was rather strange.
-
So, how was your day, George?
It was kind of quiet.
-
When you walk (or roll) in the door, there was a charming young lady standing at her station.
-
I did some stuff at work and then went to my sister's to help take the canopy off the gazebo she has in her back yard.
-
Then, I drove through Burger King and got a Big Fish (https://www.bk.com/menu/picker-picker_5537) sandwich.
-

-
;D
-
I ask her if she was there to seat us, but she said, “No, you can sit where you would like. I am here to collect your money.”
-
Okay, but I had no idea what was on the menu.
-
So, I said, “How much would that be?”
-
She said that the salad bar would be $15.99.
-
Hmmm, I thought this was a steak house!
-
I said, “What if I wanted something besides the salad bar?
-
Hmmm, I thought this was a steak house!
Everyone has to diversify.
-
She says, “We could set you up with a steak for around $17.99.”
-
Around $17.99?? WTF?
-
Around $17.99?? WTF?
:o
-
Was the price based on the actual weight??
-
Tom, did you enjoy the meal?
-
I said that up I would take the salad bar, and to hell with the mystery steak.
-
Turns out the salad bar came with spaghetti, chicken wings, soup, and cheese bread.
-
So, that was fine with me.
-
But everyone else that came in ordered a full lunch with their salad bar, so someone must have gotten a menu from somewhere.
-
Turns out the salad bar came with spaghetti, chicken wings, soup, and cheese bread.
Except for the chicken wings, that sounds good.
-
And now it is late, and I am off to bed. We will have to try the Sizzler Mystery House sometime, George.
-
Good night.

That's weird.

When I get my new car! :D

I skipped the wings. I don’t like them either

Hopefully, I'll get one within the next few weeks.

Cool. So where is the restaurant?
