It'll probably be at this time for the winter because my niece has to go back home to get her chickens into their coop for the night. That's no problem because I will actually have to leave a little before 4:00 to go work concessions at the college.

We are now ahead of the summer cat-feeding schedule, and in two weeks when the time change occurs, the old 6:30 will be back to 5:30, which is where I prefer to be. After that, my head hurts.

Post by: elmore3003 on October 23, 2021, 04:23:45 AM: I spent some time yesterday with the 19 pages of "You Will Be Found" from the Dear Evan Hansen vocal selections, courtesy of our DR Matthew. Yes, you heard that right - 19 pages! It's the entire number from the show with dialogue and everything, which is ridiculous. I listened on YouTube to several different recordingsm trying to get a handle on how this sucker is cut down for pop use. I found two I liked, and then I spent time with the vocal selection and the song seeing how the song was cut down for a pop version.

I've been thinking about that very dish lately, and nearly succumbed when I walked by it at Shop Rite's hot food buffet the other day. Making it yourself is the best, though. And yes, the bun is important. I think it's BJ's here that carries a "small" grinder roll that's perfect for things like this. Time to shop.

I'd been thinking about Hammer films lately, and catching Crescendo on TCM was the trigger for taking a few of those off the shelf. But not the "psychological thriller" ones, even though I have a great fondness for those. I'd been wanting to watch a few of the later non-Dracula vampire ones, specifically the "Karnstein Trilogy", and I have them all here on Blu-ray so last night I watched The Vampire Lovers which was great fun, and I'll follow that tonight with Lust for a Vampire and Twins of Evil.

There's also Vampire Circus which I'll go to after these, and then I'll jump back to Countess Dracula which I've never seen at all, but it has Ingrid Pitt in it so that kind of makes sense.

Post by: ChasSmith on October 23, 2021, 10:27:53 AM: As to BK's Bond fest, I've posted before about my admitted fondness for Thunderball in spite of its lackings, and I feel the same about You Only Live Twice. I went to that one repeatedly, and wore out the soundtrack LP just like I'd done with Goldfinger a couple of years prior. And that title song was my other favorite in those days.

Returning to it nowadays, though, and taking into consideration all the fun stuff about it...my god, what BK said about it moving slowly and ludicrously. And when I last watched it back in 2010 or whenever it was, I found Connery's Japanese get-up the most cringeworthy aspect of the proceedings. It's a good thing that's part of the story, and not a case of him actually playing a Japanese in the film, Brando-style. But as I recall, that's all there in the Fleming book, and the plot hinges on it.

I, too, have had difficulty getting to love Bruckner. His choral stuff is great, but his symphonic stuff leaves me a bit cold.

Post by: bk on October 23, 2021, 07:58:53 PM: Dress rehearsal went really well - all laughs present and accounted for save for one and I needed to see it with an audience or I would never have noticed it - so, I added one beat on a bit and it fixed the problem and it will get its laugh tomorrow. I only had some teeny-tiny notes after. We had about twelve people and they were very enthusiastic, which was expected as most were the singer's friends.

Exactly! BUT several people didn't have their phones with them...I don't know why! All the WCPA advertisements say that that you need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test within the last three days.
