Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both dressed and rehearsed, and now it is time for you to post until the dressed and rehearsed cows come home.

The alarm rang at 6:00, and by 6:30 I was dressed, the catsfed, the bed stripped, and by 7:00 the first load of laundry was in the washers. Between 10 and noon, my neighbor Ann is coming down to help me turn the mattress around.

Happy Sunday to One and All!  There's a brand new Broadway Radio Show up on this site.  This episode is called Covering Broadway 1950's Style.  David Levy is back with showtune covers from Broadway musicals of the 1950's.  It's a lot of fun as we listen to artists like Neil Sedaka, Leslie Gore, Rosemary Clooney, and Bing Crosby (joined by Diana Ross & the Supremes!) as they sing some of your favorite songs.  Give it a listen!

So I watched the second two films in the "Karnstein Trilogy" last night.

And what a weird trip that is, seeing three films made practically within the same year, all sort of related based on original source material, but except for the composer (Harry Robinson) and a sea of heaving Hammer bosoms, not having too much in common with each other. Peter Cushing is in two of them, and it almost goes without saying that he could elevate a movie just by being in it. And really, there's not much wrong with anyone else in the casts. But those scripts... oh my.

Out of curiosity, I will listen to the commentaries on these sometime. But not right away. At this point I require a little "space" from them. :)  I will move on now to Countess Dracula for my first time, and then Vampire Circus to bring this little binge to a proper conclusion.

Ann came down just after I last posted, and we turned the mattress. She then helped me put on the mattress pad and contour sheet. We visited for a little bit, and then I went down around 11:15 to get yjr top sheet and bedspread out of the dryers. I had to compete with three cats to put on the top sheet, Grandma's quilt, and the bedspread. When they were all down, I got the comforter out of the cedar trunk, and set it in place. It was noon, so I lay down for 30 minutes before I went on to kitty cleanup. By 1:00 my apartment was back to its usual state.

One interesting thing about On Her Majesty's Secret Service I forgot to mention is its release. After wide releases on double bills for the first two films, UA knew they had something wholly other with Goldfinger, which was the first Bond film to play exclusively in one theater - here, the Grauman's Chinese. Both Thunderball and You Only Live Twice played exclusive at the Chinese. But apparently, they didn't have that kind of faith for Secret Service, which played wide with a double feature. When Connery came back with Diamonds Are Forever, it was back to exclusive at the Chinese.

DR CHAS SMITH I also like Plague of the Zombies, another Hammer without the usual suspects.

There is also a Jekyll & Hyde that I like.....not to mention Doctor Jekyll & Sister Hyde which may not have been a Hammer production.

Uber Eats just told me the driver is making another delivery along the way. I thought they made only one at a time. I stopped ordering from an Indian restaurant I'd used for many years because they do multiple deliveries and it took them 2 hours to deliver my food, when I'm less than 10 minutes away. (Maybe the UberEats driver saw how much I tipped him.)

Back from the show, which went very well - full house, appreciative, friendly audience and Laura did great. I know she was nervous and it was getting the better of her a couple of times, but she overcame it quickly. What wasn't fine was the sound - we set a great level at sound check, but when you put all those people in the room it sucks up the sound and the sound guy should have boosted it - he's sitting there, he hears - I mean, you could hear everything fine, but a little louder would have added the excitement that you need with live sound. Not a disaster or anything, but annoying to my ears. Not sure anyone else noticed, really.

Meanwhile, I got something out of the trunk, closed it, and now there's a trunk light flashing on the dashboard in the car and it won't go off. I opened and shut the damn thing four times and it won't go away - I drove around, restarted, it won't go away. So, we'll see if I wake up with a dead battery - if I do, I'll charge it and go right to my car place, show them, and tell them if it's sensor issue to fix while I'm there or disconnect the damn thing, but I'm afraid the writing is on the wall because eventually the electrical system will just shut down completely.

Yikes!! :o

Except, just like when go to the doctor with a problem, the minute you see the doctor the symptoms all disappear.  The same will happen with your car.  What trunk light?

I watched the movie HOCUS POCUS this weekend.  I didn’t realize that it was a Disney film.

How is it possible to make such a horrible movie?

The three witches are quite terrible, and very difficult to understand.

Several years ago I read and enjoyed a book, MEG: A NOVEL OF DEEP TERROR.

I remember enjoying it at the time.  It was along the lines of JAWS, but with a much larger prehistoric megadolon.

I saw that there was the movie version of the book, renamed THE MEG, on TV this weekend

So, I taped it and watched it tonight.  This must have really changed the book into the movie because I remembered absolutely nothing about the story.

Did you like the movie?

The movie stars Jason Stratham and Rainn Wilson (from THE OFFICE).  I had never seen Mr. Stratham in anything, but I think he is in a lot of action films.  I spent the entire movie trying to figure out who Rainn Wilson was, because he looked so different.

When I taped the movie, I didn’t realize that it was on a commercial station, so I kept having to fast forward thru all the commercials.  And there were a lot of commercials.

It is funny how they give you this long segment at first before they go to a commercials, but once they have you hooked, they have more and more breaks.

In addition to probably getting his big break in The Office, Rainn Wilson also played Harry Mudd in Star Trek Discovery, the prequel to the original series.

For what it’s worth, the movie is not bad.  It is certainly better than the last two JAWS movies.  So, if you don’t mind having helpless people (and at one point a cute little dogie) swimming in the ocean while a giant tuna closes in on them, then it is an okay diversion.

And Sarah Jessica Parker is now eight years older than how old Bette Midler was when they made the first movie.
