Well, you've read the notes, the notes made for reading and playing, and now it is time for you to post until the reading and playing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HASTEN!
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a pretty good night of sleep and the cats behaved quite nicely for a change.
-
I went to bed very happy over the current state of things with this new project, and awoke to an email that was not so happy or satisfying, but we'll see how it works out today.
-
DR Jeanne, I've had a nice working relationship with New World Records, who distributes my last five recordings, since 2010. They were very happy to be involved, and I'm happy to be with them and my regular producer, Judy Sherman.
-
Today I must begin work on this Dear Evan Hansen song. I hope I am not disturbed too much over the other project's glitches.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Project vibes for Elmore.
-
TOD:
I honestly have no memory of it. I’m sure it involved dialing up into the Internet, which I have always hated.

Good morning, all.
-
Very best of vibes for DR Elmore's project!
-
The apartment is tidied, and I am about to begin work on "You Will Be Found." I've sent a couple of emails about the project, and I expect a phone call at some point about a glitch that popped up this morning.
-
TOD
I have no memory of what I tried or looked at first. I just know it was a battle, grappling with the earliest incarnations of Windows and the slower than slow modem speeds for the dialup services. Probably, any site that would actually load on my computer without crashing was a winner in my book.
When the actual World Wide Web was "opened" to the public in 1993 or 1994, I had already been going online by other means since 1986, via BBSes, QuantumLink (which would become AOL, but it was first an exclusive service for Commodore computers), Prodigy, and Delphi. The latter was the first to open the actual Internet (text only!) to its subscribers, before the Web (with pictures!) came about. If any of my earliest lists of bookmarks have survived, they'd go a long way toward answering the question.
-
Good morning!
-
HA DR ELMORE is a busy man! Great!
-
I like MR BK's notes about the staging of the reading. Most excellent.
-
HA! I got on the inner web in October of 1998. My sister had been on for a year or so.
I bought a computer - a huge thing - and then I went to the next town and bought a disc for $98 in order to get online. I had already had a dedicated phone line installed.
So I came home....and my brother in law set me up. It was most excellent. The first things I looked up were Frances Farmer and Allison Hayes to see what the inner web had to say.
That was when I learned that most searched for Frances Farmer usually have hundreds of results that include Kurt Cobain and his song "Frances Farmer will have her revenge on Seattle....."
And there was not a lot on Miss Allison Hayes.
I used Yahoo as my homepage and had a Yahoo email.....still do....and used Google to search.
It was a most entertaining weekend.

My uncle finally made it to the big hospital!
I took my high school friend for her procedure this morning. She also handed me a key to her house and told me her dog would have to go out at noon.....
ANYWAY they called her to come in early, so I'm hoping I get to pick her up before noon.
-
Twelve dollars filled up the Smart Car at the gas station. It was at about 1/3 of a tank.
-
Best laid plans of mice and men . . .
-
I know that was cryptic, but not all news is good news.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! At noon I'll Zoom into the book discussion at the library where my career began and between 2 and 3 Richard and I will pick up groceries at Kroger. I'll probably need a nap after all that excitement.
-
I know that was cryptic, but not all news is good news.
Oh, dear...

Oh, yes! Trouble in Paradise.

From DR TCB:
Don’t sweat it, unless you spot a hearse sitting outside your door.
I read horse and wondered what the heck you were talking about ;D

I can't read it. Is this the one with the homeless guy yelling he was vaccinated?

No. This was a woman who agreed to be vaccinated or have a covid test before she was sold a concert ticket who then protested because she didn’t want to get vaccinated or have a covid test and was denied entry into the concert.
-
Finished my second book of the trip. Am really enjoying being lazy.
-
Could someone bring me a cocktail?
-
Please.

What color paper umbrella would you like, DR John G.?
-
bk - was William Finn's Elegies a recording of an actual production, or just assembled for CD? is there a chance of it being re-released?

I'd say that would complement your skin tone fabulously.

I'd say that would complement your skin tone fabulously.
I’m a winter. So, you may be right.
-
I’m a bit silly today.
-
Thanks DR JANE - yes I was called for pickup at 10:40 a.m. so all was well.
Of course as I was waiting - the car valet wanted to ask me all kinds of questions about the Smart Car......I have never been more popular!
They liked it at the gasoline station as well.
-
Project vibes for Elmore.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
I think things are back on some sort of an even keel. For the moment.
-
I've spent so much time on email and the phone, juggling and putting out fires, that I've only got 20 bars orchestrated.
-
I've heard that DR Jrand71 is popular with the populace.
-
It's too bad that time you've spent isn't billable, DR elmore3003.
-
Baby needs a new pair of shoes!
I’m a bit silly today.
We'll take all the even keels we can get, DR Elmore.
I hope DR Jrand71's paparazzi-dodging techniques are well honed.
-
I mean, once the local Daily Poop gets ahold of his story and starts milking it.
There'll be flashbulbs going off everywhere!
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
I think things are back on some sort of an even keel. For the moment.
Good news...at least, for now.
I'm off from rehearsing tonight, so I'm going to the Bedford Playhouse to watch The Bride of Frankenstein in the main theater. On the big screen. Because: why not?
True.
Three!
Just read an article about the gay not-even-subtext of that movie.
The actors in the framing device of BRIDE OF......are just too precious for words.....
Well, that would be just like life. Russian wolfhounds and all.
Wow. RIP - Mort Sahl, 94.
-
I had to ask Keith about the internet. All I remember is that he and the boys were using it long before I did.
-
Keith said he had a work email address in the mid 80's.
-
Our first internet records go back to 1989.
-
Bruce have you been following the news at Hami? :(
Jane, look away. We made Nutella.
-
And it was fine.
-
Jane, look away. We made Nutella.
LOL, it looks better than it tastes.
-
And it was fine.
What did you put in it besides ground hazelnuts?
-
Cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt, chocolate chips, vanilla and coconut oil
-
Sounds good except for the important ingredient ;)
-
i don't remember first getting on the Internet, but I do remember scouring the New York Times and jotting down the web addresses of sites I wanted to visit when I finally did get access. That would have been around 1997 or 1998.
-
I a very sorry I started a third load of wash.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night DR Singdaw.
-
'night everyone.
-
Went for a long walk, which I needed.
-
The dogs were happy, too.
-
Hillary and Steve have three dogs, including Dexter, who’s eyeing the Nutella in the photo above.
-
Not anxious to get back to my book. It’s going to get depressing.
-
I finished Love in a Cold Climate. Very interesting because it has a gay character that it doesn’t savage any more harshly than the other characters up for ridicule. In fact, the author makes him very sympathetic.
-
Can we get off this page?
-
One more …
Four!
You could probably leave that out...or substitute with a different kind of nut.
Topic of the Day: I don't remember exactly when I first got on the Internet, but it might've been at work.
-
I fo remember my sister's boyfriend giving me a hand-me-down Windows 95 computer, and I shared his Internet account.
-
I eventually got my own Internet account from a company that was eventually bought out by Comcast. I've been with them ever since.
-
Jane, hadn't read that. Terrible.
-
And worse, nothing done about it.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Picked up a package earlier - was hoping it would work - a Thunderbolt 2 cable into a multi-port USB thing. Didn't work and back it goes.
-
Had In-N-Out for lunch.
-
Then the Zoom thing, which turned into a whole frustrating ninety minutes because the document we were sharing wouldn't work in Word, only online and that doesn't work at all. We had all this set up properly, but I guess when they re-did everything on my computer it all went to hell. So, David got on the phone with Office 365 and of course everything HAD to be on my end, only it wasn't. But we reloaded Office and went around and around. Then I got the document in my files, sent a link to David and that worked - we were both able to view and edit in Word, and do it live. They can't figure out why I was getting an error message every time I tried to do it via David's link and trying to open IN Word rather than online. I think it used to be easier before all this.
-
Then I watched a movie, had a little sandwich and that was that.
-
And now we're back to Bruckner.
-
Darn. That's too bad.
At least, you found a solution. That's something.
-
It was something. Now it will be something if I can get off this damn page.
-
Is page for the Barbara Bain of our existence?
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I don't know.
-
I don't care.
-
I don't wanna know.
-
I don't wanna care.
-
I may have a piece of cheese.
-
That is exciting news.
-
What am I, doing a monologue?
-
Who invented the SUV?
-
Who invented the USB?
-
Who invented the AAA?
-
Okay, someone is Debra Messing with my mind.
-
At long last, page five.
-
Sorry to be late. I was watching THE BAT.
-
Was that movie always in color, or did they colorize it?
-
I think that film must be in public domain.
-
There are a lot of bad prints out there of this film.
-
I was downloading invoices for my work. ::)
-
This was a very nice print with none of the bad spicing I normally have seen with this one.
-
That's always a good thing.
-
Tom, I just noticed that today was Jed's birthday.
-
I hope that he and Ann and the kids are doing well.
-
Tom, I just noticed that today was Jed's birthday.
That is correct.
-
Anyway, I always remember seeing THE BAT in black and white.
-
Except the stage version I directed.
-
What color paper umbrella would you like, DR John G.?
Fuchsia
Would that be Dr. Fuchsia?
-
There was a commercial for the Eagles Hotel California Tour ohh a few minutes ago advertising the Seattle stop. As soon as the band started singing “Hotel California,” Buddy started howling at the TV.
-
So, a couple of weeks ago, I bought THIS (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MPZDMQ2/) phone case from Amazon.
-
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/717PHZHKy8L._AC_SL1500_.jpg)
-
It's supposed to glow in the dark! :D
-
It was supposed to get here by October 20, but it never arrived! :o
-
I did get an e-mail from Amazon saying that if it didn't arrive, I could get a refund, and since it didn't, I clicked the link for the refund.
-
I got the refund in just a couple of days. That was nice.
-
I did reorder it because I like the look of it, so we'll see if this new one arrives...or if the original order shows up.
-
It could happen. :)
-
So, a couple of weeks ago, I bought THIS (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MPZDMQ2/) phone case from Amazon.
What phone do you have?
-
I got a Samsung Galaxy A51 4G. I like it, but it does have a LOT of extra apps that I neither want nor need...nor can I remove. ::)
:P
-
I actually bought it on Amazon (it was locked for Verizon, so I knew that it would work). Here's the link to what I got:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08B8JSG95
-
Yes, The Bat is black-and-white.
-
It has four times the internal memory of my old phone, but half of what's available is probably filled with all those bloatware apps that I neither want nor need...nor can I remove. ::)
:P
