Well, you've read the notes, the notes were familiar and bred familiarity, and now it is time for you to post until the familiar cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GRANDILOQUENT!
-
Congrats, BK, on getting Bill Hayes for the Kritzerland show!
-
Today, my co-worker Linda is back from her three-week vacation!
-
There will, of course, be some necessary clean-up (and some of mine ::) ), but things can finally start to get back to some semblance of a normalness...until, of course, I have to take vacation within the next couple of months. ;)
-
Topic of the Day: I do remember my sister and I enjoying "those Smokey and the Bandit type hick comedies that were so popular with the populace back in the 1970s." I couldn't give you any specific titles since I haven't seen any since the 1970s...but we liked them when we watched them.
-
And now, I need to get some sleep. I don't think I've been getting enough sleep lately, so hopefully, I'll be able to tonight.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well. I remember bits of a dream in which I met Joshie in lower Manhattan as I was wandering about looking for the offices of my health insurance company and he was trying to find an address for a doctor.
-
Today I will work on "You Will Be Found," and at some point between 11:00 and 1:00pm Amazon Fresh will make a delivery.
-
DR TCB, so how you and DR Jeanne like THE BAT?
-
When I was a kid, I loved horror films, even if they scared me to death and I had to beg my brother Macbeth to come and sleep with me to keep the monsters away. I haven't been able to watch them any more since The Blair Witch Project, which gave me nightmares for weeks, and I know full well that at the approach of any monster my three little devils would leave me to my fate.
-
I have now passed the halfway mark in State of Terror, qhich is rolloing along like a goods roller coaster ride, and it certainly has raised my conspiracy hackles. I'm reading much slower these days than I used to when I could finish a book in two days of subway-bus rides and reading at home. I've been wondering if and how quickly the movie sale occurred.
-
Thursday morning greetings! This morning I have to take some stuff that was donated by a friend to the AAUW holiday bazaar site, pick up 2 prescriptions at Kroger, and put the new license sticker on my car.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD
I don’t think I ever went to any of those, but I enjoyed catching them on cable back in the day. That said, I can only account for having seen the two Cannonball Run movies and the first Smokey and the Bandit. (There was more than one, right?)
Enough years have gone by that I’d probably watch them once more now for whatever laughs can be had. Hell, if one of the remaining drive-in theaters would run a night of those, I’d go and enjoy them in their natural habitat.
Where I DON’T want to find myself watching one is within a James Bond film.
-
What with all the interest shown in it here, I think I’ll watch The Bat tonight. :)
Seriously, though. I’m taking it off the shelf right now.
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Nice sleep and comforting dreams, though I don’t remember them.
-
I can’t believe the vacation ends tomorrow.
-
TOD:
Never saw any of them until they came on TV. I think the only one I enjoyed was Clint Eastwood in Any Which Way But Loose.
-
The orangutan and Ruth Gordon were fun.
-
What with all the interest shown in it here, I think I’ll watch The Bat tonight. :)
Seriously, though. I’m taking it off the shelf right now.
Done — but though I knew I had it, I really thought it was on a DVD or even Blu-ray. All I have it on is laserdisc, on a double feature with The Bat Whispers (1930). It really does look like it’s in Public Domain Hell, sad to say.
Well, I’ll watch both of those tonight. And don’t try to stop me. I’m doing it, damn it.
-
Interesting look at horror films from 1960.

MR BK I like your answer to my question yesterday - and yes you are correct.....no truthful answers forthcoming from that one!
-
DR TCB I love THE BIG LEAP.
It's very different than I thought it would be. A group of folks in Detroit have been chosen to be on a dance show.....their interactions and the actions of the production crew and the network nabobs makes for some fast-moving and very funny situations.
Of course there is also HEART.....there are quite a few gay characters and two of the boy dancers just started a relationship on last Monday's episode....
The dancing is incidental - but ALL of them can dance and that's fun to watch. They been together a few weeks, but the premiere of the show they are making was just in last week's episode, so they are all dealing with social media and who is popular and who is not....
Very different - but fun. I recommend you give it a try.
-
Like DR JOHN G I guess my favorite of the TOD genre is ANY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE.....
I didn't watch any of the others - avoided them in fact.....
I liked THE BAT, but I really hated the actress who played the secretary....she was so bad.....and I also am irritated by the voice of Miss Agnes Moorehead and do my best to avoid her at all costs. Her lines readings are just bizarre and her inflections are a shame to the jaybirds.
-
Amazon Fresh has come and gone. I put everything away and broke down four cartons, and I didn't break down one carton for the cats to play in. I'll take it to the basement tomorrow when it's stale.
-
From TCB:
These stupid people in Seattle are calling up the restaurants where they have been asked to prove they are vaccinated. They are calling with threats and nasty words.
:(
I will never understand the compulsion to threaten others just because you don't agree with them.
-
Tom, I am glad you got your booster. How are you feeling today?
-
Today, my co-worker Linda is back from her three-week vacation!
Yay!
-
Is anyone watching DOPESICK? We have watched the first two episodes and are finding it very interesting.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9174558/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_3
-
I've taken the cartons to the basement, and I had to send an email about reocrdign to Dublin. Now I've got 30 minutes to write before I have to feed the cats.
-
Good afternoon, friends.

The REAL reason for the disruptions to the supply chain:
-
:)) That's great, Singdaw!
-
And the good news is that the second order of my new phone case arrived today! And here it is:
-
The REAL reason for the disruptions to the supply chain:
;D
-
And the good news is that the second order of my new phone case arrived today! And here it is:
Yay, and it looks like the fit is perfect.
-
The REAL reason for the disruptions to the supply chain:
I suspected as much!
Here's my contribution to religion:
-
Up from a nap.
-
Huge thunderstorm going on outside. Power went off for a second or three.
-
I’ve been told my trumpet flowers are blooming. This is the second time they’ve done that while I was gone.
-
Was it the same time as last year?
-
They bloomed earlier this year when I was in Louisville
-
Do they normally bloom twice a year?
-
I'm up, I'm up - hard to know how much sleep. Maybe eight hours overall, maybe a bit more. In bed by 1:30 and fell asleep pretty quickly, but up at around four-thirty - even though I took a twenty-four hour allergy pill, allergies have been hovering. Fell asleep again around six, up at nine-thirty, back in bed by ten and slept until one. Not smooth sleep but it's what it was, I suppose.
-
George's phone case looks like the cover of The Creature Wasn't Nice DVD.
-
Do they normally bloom twice a year?
I don’t know. They haven’t bloomed for me at all before.
-
And the good news is that the second order of my new phone case arrived today! And here it is:
Yay, and it looks like the fit is perfect.
Definitely! It's made for this specific model and year of my phone.
-
I like the green case that I had originally gotten, but I think I like this one better. :)
-
George's phone case looks like the cover of The Creature Wasn't Nice DVD.
Another reason to like it! ;D
-
LOL DR singdaw - I thought it was something like that....that darn cat.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
DR Elmore, I have no problem being confused with TCB. In fact, people confuse us all the time. ;) ;D
-
TCB said he liked THE BAT, but I've never watched it. I hadn't heard of it until it was mentioned here.
HOWEVER, a bat got into my house once and, believe me, that was a real horror story.
-
TOD:
Not my thing.
-
I, too, have been having problems with allergy. According to weather.com there is no pollen in my area. So what am I reacting to? They only track the most common allergens and there's lot of other stuff out there, so I could be anything. I'd rather be able to put a name to it.
-
Do they normally bloom twice a year?
I don’t know. They haven’t bloomed for me at all before.
I feel bad for you yet laughing at the same time. Have someone take a photo for you.
-
I've been watching MANHUNT season 2, starring Martin Clunes, based on a true story. S1 was excellent and S2 is very good, too. I'm watching on Acorn TV. It may be available elsewhere also.
-
TTFN.
-
We are Martin Clunes fans but haven't gotten around to watching MANHUNT.
-
Just like all the other HHWs here, I have just watched THE BAT.
Don't try to deny it. You all have watched it this week, and are all in on this. I know it.
-
I certainly didn't watch it this week-lol
-
I don't know if I have ever seen THE BAT, depends if Keith had me watch years ago. It isn't something I would have watched on my own.
-
I shall have to watch The Bat on YouTube.
-
Back from a nice neighborhood Italian joint. I miss these in San Antonio. We just don’t have them.
-
Had lentil soup and the house pasta dish with banana peppers, garlic, anchovies and some heat.
-
Are you traveling tomorrow, DR John G.?
-
I don't lead a very exciting life.
-
Today's excitement was going downstairs to pick up the dry cleaning.
-
There was a group of residents in the "party room" watching a movie, which appeared to be Young Frankenstein.
-
Back from a nice neighborhood Italian joint. I miss these in San Antonio. We just don’t have them.
I never thought to eat Italian food when we were there. Do you have any good Italian restaurants that aren't neighborhood joints?
-
The Bat, it ain't.
-
Today's excitement was going downstairs to pick up the dry cleaning.
;D
-
Only a few more days left for Halloween memes.
-
Then it's on to turkey memes.
-
Of course, if you get the Hallmark Channel, it's already Christmas.
-
:))
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
Are you traveling tomorrow, DR John G.?
I do. In the evening.
-
Back from a nice neighborhood Italian joint. I miss these in San Antonio. We just don’t have them.

In Sarasota County, Fla.? It’s been too long since I lived here. My favorite place has gone out of business. Hillary and I commiserated about its loss.
-
And now, for extra credit, I have also watched The Bat Whispers, in 1930-style 65mm widescreen. Very interesting.
-
I meant to thank John G for the Stephane Grappelli/Django Reinhart clip. I've been a Stephane Grappelli fan for ages, but had never seen the clip or even photos of him when he wa young.
-
Travel vibes for John G, too.
-
Many years ago a colleague and I were doing work at the Kennedy Space Center and found a little mom-and-pop Italian restaurant in Cocoa Beach. The food was very good and it was so homey -- a nice change from typical hotels and restaurants while traveling. We ate there many nights.
-
No bats here this evening.
-
Good night.
-
Four!
-
I have watched The Bat. Oy.
-
I finished a chapter in my Zola novel at the same time.
-
The Zola was better.
-
I think the only thing I liked in The Bat was the snazzy, jazzy music during the titles.
-
Thank you, DR Jeanne, for the travel vibes.
-
I need to pack in the morning. It shouldn’t take long.
-
The temperature when I get home will be in the 50s. I don’t have a long-sleeved shirt.
-
I do have a ride, though.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Good night, all.
-
Good Evening - finally a chance to catch up. Today was technically the last day for teaching this week as tomorrow is a minimum day with Halloween festivities.
I've been teaching an after school guitar class at school and we had our 3rd class today and I'm excited by how things are going.
This summer, I've been invited to attend a wedding in Malta, in which I'm suppose to play at the ceremony. I've also been invited to spend a week in Paris with some friends to celebrate a 50th birthday. The wedding is on June 15 and the Paris dates being on July 10 (I think). So, I've begun to think about how to fill that time. I have pals in Germany and Amsterdam and I'd like to see a show in London, so the planning has begun. Let's hope the shows keep coming in this spring!
-
I haven't watched The Bat but I did bat my eyes.
-
Back from a good and thankfully short rehearsal. Good actors make things so much easier.
-

Yeah, but how old were you in the ‘70s, five?

4 to 14.
-
DR TCB, so how you and DR Jeanne like THE BAT?
I guess I would have to say that I liked it better than Jeanne did.
-

Is it streaming anywhere, so I can catch up on what I have missed?

I know it isn’t Wednesday, but BK, when Bill does one of your shows, does Susan come to the show?
-
I don't know if I have ever seen THE BAT, depends if Keith had me watch years ago. It isn't something I would have watched on my own.
Say what you will about colorization, but they certainly cleaned up the film when they colorized it.

If I remember correctly, in the play version that I directed, the part was written as a very stereo-typical African-American maid. Like a female Stepin Fetchit.
-
We aren’t going to make it, George.
-
Oh, no!
-
It’s twoo!
-
So, I received my new phone case, but I just realized that it's actually the original order!
-
Tracy and I thought we would catch CLUE- THE PLAY at Tacoma Little Theatre. Well, surprise surprise!
-
I thought that when I got the refund for my original order, that it was lost in the mail.
-
So, I reordered it, and thought that the one I just received was the reorder.
-
This Friday and Saturday are completely sold out.
-
I looked at my Amazon order history and the new order is still in transit, and the original order is what arrived!
-
And next week is almost sold out, too.
-
And next week is almost sold out, too.
Congrats to them!
-
Tracy can’t see the show, but I am going next Thursday.
-
Olympia Little Theatre will be mounting their production in January (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/shows/clueonstage/).
-
I guess the show is pretty fantastic.
-
OLT is having auditions on Monday and Tuesday.
-
Maybe I'll try to see TLT's production AND OLT's to compare. :)
-
It will be exciting to see the remodeled theater full to the brim!
-
TLT has a 10:30 p.m. performance next Friday.
-
It will be exciting to see the remodeled theater full to the brim!
Definitely!
-
Tom, I just bought the last ticket for next Thursday!
-
Actually, I got the last non-handicapped ticket. There are still five of those left.
-
I'll have to borrow my niece's car again. ::)
-
I still need to get a new car, but it isn't happening very quickly. :P
-
TLT has a 10:30 p.m. performance next Friday.
Yeah, but I have a previous engagement at that time.
-
Tom, I just bought the last ticket for next Thursday!
Cool! We will have to wear name tags so we can spot each other.
-
I still need to get a new car, but it isn't happening very quickly. :P
Do you have any idea what you want to buy?
-
I still need to get a new car, but it isn't happening very quickly. :P
Do you have any idea what you want to buy?
I've been looking at the Suburu Impreza, the Hyundai Elantra and another Hyundai (I forget the model), and maybe the Chevrolet Malibu...but I am still open to suggestions.
-
I really want another manual transmission.
-
I just like driving a stick-shift more than an automatic...and manual transmissions less expensive compared to equivalent automatic models.
-
I still need to get a new car, but it isn't happening very quickly. :P

I will say that I have always had great luck with Hyundais
-
Good night, George?
-
I really want another manual transmission.
Well, I unfortunately don’t have a choices.
-
I really want another manual transmission.
Well, I unfortunately don’t have a choices.
Yup. And any electric or hybrid cars are also only automatics.
-
But also, I really don't want a black car or a white car.
-
Black cars can get hotter in the summer and just don't have any personality.
-
And white cars show all the dirt SO easily. :P
-
Screw that...I don't want to have to wash my car all the time.
-
One of my mom's friends has a silver car and she says it hides all the dirt!
-
So, that's an option, but we'll see what I get when I get it. :)
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Well, I hate to do it, but I must hie myself to bed...so I shall.
Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow. :)
