Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a small divertissement, and now it is time for you to post until the small cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ARCH!
-
The show was TIC TAC DOUGH. The host was Wink Martindale. The big winner was Thom McKee. I got everyfact wrong except the show was on TV.

Spoo! We've all been there. ;D
-
That's a pretty cool video, BK!
-
I don't go looking for them, but I do enjoy watching them when you post about them.
-
I have no plans today. That'll be nice. But now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It got quite chilly last night. Around 3:00 Abbavekke crawled under the blankets and moved al;l the way down to ny feet, where she nestled in the curve of my foot and ankle. Stella and Thatch are happier on top of the blankets, but they get as close as possible.
-
I had a long dream involving friend and foe at Goodspeed. I was working on a show there, but I no longer had my office, and I moved from space to space, only to be evicted from each as I complained that I had nowhere to work.
-
I will spend most of the day on the Evan Hansen song. I've passed the halfway point.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Great detective work, bk!
-
I used to love The Joker's Wild gameshow, but it was on weekday mornings. I'd watch when I was home from school sick.

Is Abbavekke an ABBA fan?

I did, too.

TOD:
I’d like to see a video of the New York theater district during 1959, when shows like Gypsy, Destry, Take Me Along, The Nervous Set, Sound of Music and Fiorello were playing.

JB is home.
-
Hurray I hope JB enjoyed his vacation.
-
I liked the video in the notes and of course the notes.
A drive by video of my hometown around 1957 would be nice.
Sometimes I use Google to take a drive down the different places I have lived, but most of them are unrecognizable.

Rehearsal vibes for MR BK & co.

ABBAVEKKE is the name of my new board game.....it is most entertaining and reveals the psychological foibles of the players without their knowledge.

Not to be played by newlyweds.
-
DR JOHN G I wrote something wrong last week.
Luka Garza in not playing for San Antonio. He is playing for the Detroit Pistons of the NBA....I think that is the name of the team....I'm not sure why he would want to go there - or you have to go where you're drafted.
ANYWAY - human pill and drama queen Joe Weiskamp who played at IOWA with Garza and spent most of his time on the sidelines riding a stationary bike and sipping on a water bottle realized that without Garza his college career was over so left a year early and HE is playing for San Antonio....
My guess is that IOWA who was in the playoffs last year.....and the team which consists of the Coach McCaffrey's two sons - who did everything they could to keep the ball away from Luka last year so they could miss shots themselves - and a few other misfits will have a pretty bad season with Luka gone.....
-
Good morning!
-
I remember Tom Kennedy hosting a show called You Don't Say....it was a kind of a word rebus clue game.....where the contestants said sentences trying to get their partner to say a word....and then put the words together to make a celebrity's name.

Tonight I am having a party with my three sisters at my house.
We will eat cake and have pizza and play music and maybe a board game or two and sing and maybe watch a movie.
It's a surprise THANK YOU party for my sister who does so much for all of us.
I got a cake at Walmart yesterday and wanted them to write "Thank you, Paula" on it. But there was no CAKE DECORATOR there.
I bought some stuff to write it myself - but it looks pretty bad....I may post photo tomorrow.....
-
DR JRand71 and his sisters know how to throw a par-tay.
-
I woke up in the middle of the night thinking, "Oh, this will be a GREAT dream to share with HHW!" and now, of course, I can't remember one drop of it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of not enough sleep.
-
It sure isn't!
-
Off to usher for David Sedaris.
-
Good Morning. Round 1 of the laundry is in. That's all that's happening at the moment.
-
Off to usher for David Sedaris.
He funny.

Something seems really wrong About this:
Movie Review: The Prince and the Pauper (1937)
SPOILER ALERT!
-
I have no plans today. That'll be nice. But now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
I was wrong...I do have plans! I'm ushering for Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill (https://harlequinproductions.org/show/lady-day-at-emersons-bar-and-grill/). It's running in rep with Tenderly (https://harlequinproductions.org/show/tenderly-the-rosemary-clooney-musical/), the show I ushered for on Wednesday.

Off to usher for David Sedaris.
Enjoy! He's coming back to Olympia next year. :)
-
The house is cleaned especially the party Room. Showering and shaving will commence momentarily.
I saved the last banner to put up just before Paula arrives.....and I will make the Barnabas Collins cocktails then as well. Then of course the Red Baron Personal Pizzas will be placed in the oven.
-
the Barnabas Collins cocktails
Are they blood red?

Back from a bacon and cheese omelet at Hugo's - by the time I left it was pretty crowded. I suspect that may not be the case when, on November 4, everyone has to show proof of vaccination or they're sent home. Now, you must understand, the dreaded Delta variant seems to have disappeared from sight, despite the dire end of the world warnings, no other variants have shown up to do much of anything, cases are hugely down again here in L.A., and yet the masks are still mandated and even more stringent rules going into place. As I have said from day one, all they want to do is accentuate the negative, never the positive - not a peep about cases being HUGELY down.
-
Getting ready for the big push... for work. Market insurance Open Enrollment starts Monday and runs until January 15th. Lots of calls, lots of overtime. And on key enrollment deadline dates, working from early in the morning until 10pm or later.
-
I've got Medicare and an AARP/UHC supplement, and I haven't felt compelled to change anything there. Of course we'd all like these things to be cheaper.
What kills me is the prescription plan, the cost of which just seems ridiculous. I've said this before and failed to follow through, but I'm going to have to educate myself on the options this time.
-
In other news, my CastRecL daily digests have been both irregular and skimpy these past couple of weeks. The posting activity can't possibly be as low as it looks from over here.
(Just sayin'.)

JB is home.

Re: prescriptions... The "donut hole" is treacherous.

From Bruce:
All I can tell you is that one of the shots, the second one, is on Eighth Street going east. I was able to identify a hotel on the left and found its address. And had this shot started a mere five seconds prior to when it does, we would have seen my father's restaurant on the right. It literally starts right after that - I recognized the building on the corner (at Hobart) instantly.
The drug store, next to my Dad's second office, should have been on the corner.
Wait, that would have been Western and Hobart. His first office was on 8th.

My fellow DRs, I would be remiss if I didn't ketchup a little bit on the price of gasoline here.
I believe I last reported the rise from $3.22 to $3.25 to $3.29, all within a week. Since then it's gone to $3.32 and is at $3.36 today. This steady increase began at $2.89 where it had sat for a long time, so that's a 40-cent increase within the past, oh, I dunno, month or so?
-
Everyone's singing it!
-
In my Internet travels, I came upon a recipe for "Kitty Litter Cake."
Umm, no thanks.
-
I went for almost a beautiful two hour walk this morning. It felt great as I haven't done that in a long time, even the wind almost blowing me over a few times didn't ruin the walk.
-
The wind is currently blowing at 20 miles per hour.
-
We are off for our afternoon walk.

Three!

Saturday afternoon greetings! Michigan gave away the Paul Bunyan trophy to Michigan State today. Or more accurately, they let them keep it for ANOTHER year :P
-
Since the end of the game, I've been doing AAUW communications work at my computer.
-
Waiting at the end of the line to get two books autographed. The line isn’t moving.

Sorry.

I have finally gotten to the doorway of the room he’s in. Maybe another 30 minutes or so.
-
I’m tired.

Good afternoon.

Reminds me of the time I took my daughter to see Grumpy Cat.

I think the cases of covid here are still uncomfortably high. So I'm glad to wear a mask and see that the stores I go into require them.
-
Tomorrow we are having a coffee hour at church. I had a lot of leftover stuff from the club meeting we had Thursday, so I'll have sugar cookies, candy corn bark, cinnamon bread, and brownie bites for the regular people. I'll have vegan snowballs and cream cheese mints for the allergic people.
-
I’m tired.
I am not surprised. I hope he will sign both books.
-
I kept the powdered sugar in its container this time, away from the flour.
-
I was going to make meringues, but I realized that the mints are gluten-free.

He’s talking with everyone in line.

Been puttering around the apartment today - planned all 3 masses this weekend, did 3 loads of laundry, veg'ged in front of the TV with DD Leo, took a shower and now I'm off to Saturday evening mass and then to Great America for Haunt. I'm not really a fan, but the ex and I bought season passes for Great America and I might as well use it so I'm meeting some friends. I'll be wearing a necklace which tells cast members that I don't wish to be spooked or scared while walking around the park, and I do NOT do the mazes, so it will be a fun night of people watching, theme park food, hanging with friends and maybe a few rides.

I am glad people are wearing masks in the stores you shop at. For us, living in a state that requires masks inside of all stores is doubly appreciated after being in Wisconsin. Even though Illinois requires masks the hotels, gyms, and restaurants near the airport were very lax.

Aren't meringues gluten-free?

That's nice even if it makes your wait longer.

Yes, but I had a special request for the mints, so I don't think I need two gluten-free things.
-
But I do think that purple and orange meringues would look awesome on the table,
-
A divorced mother with a teenage daughter found our church during the pandemic and joined us for our zoom services. We didn't meet them in person for several weeks.
So when I found out the daughter was vegan, I have made sure to accommodate her needs. I want them to feel wanted.

That’s very nice of you.
-
And the mother is gluten-free, as well as a grandson of one of our members (Said grandson doesn't attend very often, but when he did when we had a coffee hour, he was surprised to see I had planned to accommodate him.)
-
Down to 20 people ahead of me.
-
Onward!
-
Four!
-
And then we have the vegan member who ate chicken enchiladas at the pastor's open house today.
-
Seven to go!

Got it :)

I agree.

Sometimes it is difficult to stick to a self imposed diet.
-
DR George, the only other person I know that got J&J (probably because she lives near you) got a full dose Moderna booster today. She went with full dose due to her health issues. Have you asked your doctor for a recommendation?
-
Oh, and she got the booster at Kaiser.
-
It was a pretty relaxed day.
-
Got a few minor things done, and some exercise in.
-
Does anyone still have a local "Devil's Night?" The night before Halloween. It used to be a big thing growing up in Connecticut. I did not participate, however.
-
Tomorrow is very early day, so I will bid you all goodnight.
-
I never heard of Devil's Night until we lived on the East Coast. I thought it was a horrible idea.
-

I haven't, yet. I still need to make an appointment for my annual check-up.
-
I'm now downtown, just about to go into the theater to usher for Lady Day.... I'm sure it'll be really good.
Until later!
-
My friend and her husband went to Kaiser and were asked which booster, J&J, Pfizer, Moderna full or half dose. Her husband took the half dose & she took the full. They decided on their own which they wanted. I had thought it was her doctor who suggested the full dose.
-
'night
-
I finally got my books autographed. Even thought I was last in line, Sedaris made time for me.
-
With an earlier guest, he mentioned something about nobody really loses their nose. I informed him that wasn't exactly true. Ann Miller had lost her nose, and her false nose would sometimes fly off when she did her tap twirls. I think he'll have fun googling that.
-
Then met a friend for dinner. It was a wonderful meal. I hada burger with roasted tomatoes and jalapenos on it, plus avocado. Their onion rings disappeared as if by magic.
-
I also saw two of my old articles still hanging on the wall. That was nice.
-
While waiting in line, I finished off The Lincoln Highway. ,It was good, but not in the same league as his first two books. Folks at the performance were liking it more than me.
-
I've now started to watch The Birds. It may be 40 years since I last saw this movie. I'm liking the beginning. "Tippi" Hedren (the quotes were in the titles) is quite good in this. Better than Marnie.
-
I need to get to bed.
-
yet I am really into The Birds.
-
I guess I'll finish it tomorrow.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Five!
-
Hello, 1 guest!
-
Good night, all.
-
I finally got my books autographed. Even thought I was last in line, Sedaris made time for me.
Cool! I remember when he came to Olympia, he signed books both before and after his show.
-
I also saw two of my old articles still hanging on the wall. That was nice.
That is nice. What were they about?
-
I'm now home from ushering for Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill.
-
It was pretty good, but not great.
-
I'm home.
-
I drove through McDonald's for a quick, late dinner.
-
I got their new(ish) Spicy Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich (https://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en-us/product/spicy-deluxe-crispy-chicken-sandwich.html), a couple of cheeseburgers, and a diet Coke.
-
I had asked for the regular Deluxe Crispy Chicken Sandwich, but they gave me the spicy version.
-
I didn't want the spicy version.
-
I'd had it before and wanted just the regular version.
-
I'll have to order it again.
-
Oh, darn. ;)
-
Then, I came home and now I'm watching YouTube videos.
-
If anyone's interested, OperaVision (https://www.youtube.com/c/OperaVision/featured) just started streaming the Garsington Opera production of Der Rosenkavalier (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIecFMGfRI8).

I couldn’t believe the end of that game, Ginny! My condolences.

Candy corn bark sounds awesome, Laura.

Jane, I think I missed answering a question you asked me yesterday. I had no reaction to either of the initial shots, or the booster. I take that back, the night I got the booster and the flu shot, I rubbed my arm and it seemed a little sore.
-

SUCK UP!

Chas, I also have the AARP/UHC supplement. My sister also had it, but when she called them, there was an additional AARP/UHC Walgreen’s (I believe] that is saving her $40.00 a month, plus offers a few extras. I am calling on Monday.
-

Their actual nose? Like Michael Jackson?
-
Hi, Tom.
-
It was pretty good, but not great.
That would be a pretty tough role to play. Especially after seeing Audra McDonald do the role.
-

I know.
-
She just didn't seem to have the intensity or the gravitas of someone who's been around the block and been in jail and had all the hardships that she was talking about.
-
She was just telling the story of Billie, without letting the audience feel that she'd actually lived it.
-
And she sang well enough, but didn't vary her style too much for the different kinds of songs that she sang.
-
And the pianist (good as he was, too) wasn't a jazz pianist. He very definitely was playing the printed score that was right in front of him.
-
Did you ever see LADY SINGS THE BLUES?

six!!!!!!

Did you ever see LADY SINGS THE BLUES?
I think I saw bits of it on TV years ago, but not the whole movie.
