Well, you've read the notes, the notes were notes I actually liked, and now it is time for you to post until the cows I actually like come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PREROGATIVE!
-
My hands are so crippled up today, I can hardly type. All of a sudden, the arthritis went from pain level 2, to an 11.
-
I'm sorry, DR TCB.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR Ron Pulliam: if you're so inclined, a COVID Christmas tree takes just a minimum of effort.
-
HO HO HO!
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning to you, DR Laura!
-
Are you into your Christmas baking yet?
-
Those croquembouches don't make themselves.
-
I gave up trying to sleep a couple of hours ago. It's going to be a long day.
-
I myself would be scared to even attempt one.
-
There are several DRs that seem to be sleep-deprived.
-
Sorry!
-
Good morning, Singdaw. No to the baking. The group that meets at the church to whom I serve refreshments doesn't want any reason to remove masks, so no coffee or treats.
-
I will, however, get out my cookie cutters before Elmore's friends are here with My Fair Lady.
-
If you are ever trapped inside your house because a marathon is being held which shuts down all the streets around your house, a croquembouche is a way to use up an entire day. An entire day.
-
The roof may or may not get fixed tomorrow. The communication from these two companies is abysmal.
-
Oy! and Double Oy!
~~~VIBES~~~ that the repair happens!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I will, however, get out my cookie cutters before Elmore's friends are here with My Fair Lady.
DR Laura, when are you seeing My Fair Lady? I need to remind John and Adam about your coming back after.
-
I slept rather well, although Miss Annabelle gave up her pillow last night to sleep on my feet instead. It was hell.
-
Around 9:00 I must clean off this computer table and prepare for the Spectrum serviceman. There's something screwing up my WiFi and I hope this visit will clear up the mess.
-
I've watched the first DVD of Mare of Easttown, but I'm still debating if I care enough to watch the remainder.
-
After that last post, my computer WiFi dropped out for 20 minutes. I made the bed and did some tidying up.
-
Yesterday pn Facebook there was a post about a poor dog around the age of 15 years who had been dumped at a shelter so they could adopt a puppy. I posted this: HER OWNERS SHOULD BE JAILED AND NEVER ALLOWED TO ADOPT AGAIN.
Well, the assholes at Facebook have blocked me for 30 damned days.
Because this comment goes against our Community Standards on violence and incitement, only the author of the comment and admins of Pike County PA Lost & Injured Animals can see it. Let us know what you would like to do.
-
Well. WTF? Mirabile dictu!
I decided to fight the block and for the first time ever this just popped up on my Facebook page:
We're sorry we got this wrong. We reviewed your comment again and it does follow our Community Standards.
-
Fools, all of 'em!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
Fools and bots, Elmore.
-
Pain relief for TCB!
-
Fool relief for Bk, Vixmom and all of us.
-
That work party does not sound cool, Vixmom.
-
TOD:
West Side Story
Macbeth
Cyrano
Nightmare Alley
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's a day to work on music. I'm back at it tonight with a brush-up run-through of our show. Tomorrow afternoon I'm substituting for someone, playing a memorial service, and I need to find music for that. Then it's showtime tomorrow and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon.
-
TOD
DR John G.'s list would work for me, but the one I know I will make sure I get to a theater for is West Side Story.
-
I finished kitty ckeanup, and when I came back the computer was down again. Fifteen minutes or so later, it was back up.
-
Oh man, that would be intolerable. I'm glad they're coming out to fix it.
-
Okay, I've been up for an hour, and it's high time I got myself a cup of coffee.
And a couple of King's Hawaiian rolls!
-
Because they aren't going to eat themselves, and I seem to be the only one working on them.
-
They are SO delicious, and a nice treat a couple of times a year.
-
I will also have you all know that I have attained my personal best --
By eating the same meal seven consecutive days.
I refer, of course, to Thanksgiving dinner and its leftovers.
What's weird is that we "went small" this year. We had one guest, Kristi's cousin from West Haven, so, four of us, and we got a 15-lb turkey. We've gone as large as 22 lbs or more in the past, but even this seemed quite large for us. The cousin took home a bunch of leftovers, and here I am, still eating turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce a week later. I know I make a ton of those sides, and frankly, I'm glad I do. They keep beautifully, and it's all such a great collective comfort food.
-
Oh man, that would be intolerable. I'm glad they're coming out to fix it.
I just had a thought: what if it isn't the cable but the computer? Oy!
-
Oy!
Vibes it isn't!
Elmore, December 11, matinee. Tell them not to rush out; we can't take in anything but a ziplock bag, so I'll have to go back to the car to get their gift.
-
Today is Seurat’s 162nd birthday and Google is honoring that.
-
Chas, all our stuffing disappeared in one meal; Wae-Ling filled her plate with it.
-
Of course, there's a limited amount of stuffing, since it goes INSIDE the turkey.
-
Chas, all our dressing disappeared in one meal; Wae-Ling filled her plate with it.
I know you disapprove, but mine is all outside the turkey. So maybe I really should be calling it dressing (?). Even so, it is my single favorite item (tied with the cranberry sauce) on the table. But that's why I make a ton of it.
-
We tried doing it INSIDE several years ago, and I wasn't so happy with the result. But I also hadn't zeroed in on my own recipe for it, either. But I probably grew up with it INSIDE, even I don't specifically remember it. I'm thinking I'll make a point of doing it both ways next time, and we'll see what happens.
-
DR Ron Pulliam: if you're so inclined, a COVID Christmas tree takes just a minimum of effort.
I can do that!!!
-
Good morning.
Mawnin', Laura!
-
I really MUST stop reading this blog first thing in the morning.
Every time, I do, I get hungry for some reason. This morning, I'm craving rolls.
I ain't got no rolls!
DR ChasSmith seems to be rolling in rolls!
Even more strange is the fact that I don't know what a croquembouche is, but I think I want one.
-
RATZ!
Happily, it's time I made my first cup of coffee.
Yes, I slept in this morning. Almost got up at 6 a.m., EST, but found a sweet spot on my pillow and fell back to sleep
-
Before that cup of coffee, I shall dress.
Oh, yes. First, I must dress.
But I don't wear a dress, so, it's one foot, then the other.
-
No, I don't have a clue what I am talking about.
I am having an existential stream-of-thought moment (or 236).
-
What shall I do with today?
Last night, I thought about visiting Sam's Club in nearby Aiken SC.
It's a very nice Sam's Club, and it has some wonderful things I love.
-
I always think about doing things before I go to bed.
But when I awaken, I remember what Mrs. Butler said:
"Tomorrow is another day."
-
Oh...did I start a new page? What do I do?
THREE
I have forgotten how to increase the font size.
-
Today is Seurat’s 162nd birthday and Google is honoring that.
Is that older than TCB?
-
Before that cup of coffee, I shall dress.
Oh, yes. First, I must dress.
But I don't wear a dress, so, it's one foot, then the other.
Too late.
We've already got that picture in our mind's eye.
-
Oh, I'm bad today. Very very bad. I should go practice the piano now.
-
I really MUST stop reading this blog first thing in the morning.
I ain't got no rolls!
DR ChasSmith seems to be rolling in rolls!
Even more strange is the fact that I don't know what a croquembouche is, but I think I want one.
You’ll want a whole croque for yourself when you do.
-
Today is Seurat’s 162nd birthday and Google is honoring that.
Is that older than TCB?
They were classmates.
-
For the past two days, I have been drinking fig leaf tea, using dried leaves from one of the trees in back. I’m surprised at how good it is.
It’s supposed to lower blood sugar and triglyceride levels.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE!
-
LOL @ DR RON PULLIAM - I watched THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY last night and I really loved how that final scene played.....Fred & Ginger are great when they turn it on!
But poor Fred is just awfully......well.....plain looking or maybe I used to stunning folks in movies....and Miss Ginger's "acting" in the play is just so awful it's hard to believe.....I still can't understand why she is SO MAD when she reciting....it's scary bad!
-
I've been driving around in my SUV this morning.....aimlessly blocking traffic after I let the kids off at school.....then I went to the bank and changed lines a few times.....then I stopped in the middle of street a few times to talk to friends going in the opposite direction and to look in some store windows.....
There was a lot of folks blowing their horns and slamming on their brakes - they should really LEARN TO DRIVE!
-
Great TOD:
West Side Story
Nightmare Alley
Being the Ricardos
I watched about half of KING RICHARD on HBO MAX and it's not very good.....a really great and interesting story has been put through the Disney Uplift/Overcoming Obstacles Machine and Mr Will Smith is practically walking around with a "Nominate Me for my Accent" sign around his neck.
The kids are great.....maybe I will watch the rest of it....maybe.
-
omg, yes, Being the Ricardos belongs on that list.
It's quite the list, actually, after months of what has seemed like so little.
-
DRs ChasSmith, Ron Pulliam, John G., and JRand71 are all making me laugh this morning. Not necessarily in that order.
-
TOD:
West Side Story, of course. And that movie about Princess Diana with Kristin Stewart.
-
Is Being the Ricardos being released to theaters first, or direct to streaming?
-
I have been drinking fig leaf tea
I've heard it covers up a multitude of sins.
-
From DR George:
It works because I manually copy the link address that's directly under the photo, then paste that in between the [ img ] and [/ img ] codes, but without the spaces. If you quote one of my posts where I've done that, you can see how it works.
Thanks. Chances are I won't do that very often :)
-
DR Vixmom I do hope you enjoy your work party tonight and the people stay sober enough to drive home.
-
My hands are so crippled up today, I can hardly type. All of a sudden, the arthritis went from pain level 2, to an 11.
:( I am sorry. Do you have something you can rub into them to help with the pain?
The roof may or may not get fixed tomorrow. The communication from these two companies is abysmal.
MAJOR VIBES IT IS FIXED TOMORROW!
-
It was my modem. The serviceman was a nice young man named Jose. He was here, maybe, 45 minutes, he repaced my modem and all was good. Stella was a little hyper, Annabelle refused to rise from her hammock to greet him, which was surprising since she loves greeting people, and Thatch hid under the bed.
-
Good news, DR elmore3003.
-
That's one worry removed from your plate. Among many others.
-
~~~PAIN BEGONE VIBES~~~ for DR TCB!

News Flash:
Omicron has reached MN. Not for me personally. But it's here.
-
Glad to hear that, DR Elmore!
-
Lordy.
It takes NO TIME AT ALL these days for the latest strain to travel around the world.
I blame: people.
-
Thatch has come out of hiding. Annabelle reclines in her hammock. and Stella is asleep on the floor. I am taking the recyclables to the basement.
-
I tagged BK on this, but just in case he doesn't see it or for anyone else who finds it interesting, this is a surprisingly comprehensive article on the problem of dialogue not being easily understood in movies these days.

That’s whipped cream or frosting.

Yikes.

Stay well.

I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
Hoping the guy gets here on time.
-
I saw the article on dialogue - it kind of blames a myriad of things, but I only blame the actors.
-
Arrived on time, files transferred, drive boxed and ready for Fed Ex. I could try to do that now, but I think I'll do it after storage.
-
:)
-
Is anyone watching Annie?
-
I just changed a lightbulb in the garage.
-
I shall now be on my way to storage.
-
I just changed a lightbulb in the garage.
I think the bulb in my brain is getting too dim.
-
I just changed a lightbulb in the garage.
How many [insert joke]s did it take? 8)

I think the bulb in my brain is as strong as an easy-bake oven.

Thursday afternoon greetings! We've been to Dayton for Richard's second appointment at the burn clinic. Nurse Practitioner Erin was very encouraged and says the likelihood of skin graft surgery is significantly reduced because feeling is coming back. That, of course, means pain, so he's on meds for that. We had a nice brunch at First Watch on the way home and I did a very fruitful (well, cookie-ful) errand.

I have always pondered that ridiculous scene, but I keep coming back to the same conclusion: It was truly Ginger Rogers thinking she was being great!
-
Back from a LOT o' stuff. Car started fine, but has been wonky about locking properly - until I got home, when it locked as it should - we'll see if that works. I did go to my repair place and they checked the battery and while it's down just a bit, it still seems to be healthy. But they said immediately that there's a short somewhere that's not shutting things down properly - it's $95 for a diagnostic, which, for me, is a waste of money because I think a repair bill to fix it will be throwing good money after bad at this point in time with this particular motor car. But, I may take it in and let them have it for a day. But that means I'm sans car and that's really hard at this time of year, and Uber is a joke.
-
Hard drive is at Fed Ex and ready to go. Some clearly insane black fellow was walking the parking lot screaming at everyone trying to pick a fight. When people wouldn't engage he'd say "What, you want to shoot me, kill me, call the cops?" Someone SHOULD have called the cops because these deranged individuals are just the kind of people who will pull out a knife or gun.
-
Picked up one package that came late yesterday.
-
Is anyone watching Annie?
I didn't think it was airing until this evening.
-

Ha! Someone else who’s tense.
-
Have accomplished nothing, nada, zero, zilch today.
So lethargic.
I did get to the post office (nothing special there). Went out for a cheeseburger and onion rings. Very tasty.
Napped. Pondered things.
Thought about more things. Napped again.
Got out of my chair and walked over here to my laptop to type some thoughts.
Such a life.
-
We need to know where you had the very tasty cheeseburger and onion rings.
Thanks in advance.

FIELD TRIP!!!!
-
Good evening!
-
Vibes for TCB!
-
DR singdaw it is my understanding that Being the Ricardos opens in theatres on December 16 and starts streaming on Amazon Prime one week later.
-
My late uncle's two kitties are going to be re-homed [not through a shelter]. So they had to go to the vet today to make sure they are okay and all up to date.
It took three of us to capture them and put them in their carriers. And oh the crying and moaning......it was pitiful. I felt so bad. I know they were calling for their master who just won't be coming back......
They came home this afternoon and will be gathered again next week for the trip to their new home. They do get to stay together.
AND it turned out that my uncle was mistaken when he said they had last been to the vet in 2018......it was 2009!
$600! And of course it's out of our pockets right now because the estate money is frozen solid.
-
We'll be writing a few checks to ourselves when the smoke clears....with receipts of course.
-
That's what I'm afraid of to DR RON PULLIAM. I have read that it was hard to convince Miss Rogers of anything once she had made up her mind.....which I guess is why for her first few performances in HELLO, DOLLY! on Broadway, she wore her wig backwards.
-
I made up for your inactivity, Ron Pulliam. I am exhausted after the day. I feel like a pinball shot in too many directions.
-
Eddie Mekka has passed away. Really nice guy.

Oh, no. :(

We picked a good time to be heading out on a road trip.
-
We are leaving tomorrow morning.
-
We are sort of following the same route we attempted during the summer was our car door was damaged.
-
This time we will go to warm Palm Springs instead of San Francisco. In fact we will be there for my birthday and Bruce's.

Watching Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. Sorry, Bob Merrill, but "charity" and "parody" do not rhyme. But I do love this.
-
Hard to believe that Thanksgiving was already a week ago.
-
What should I have for dinner?
A Christmas crostini tree!
-
I'm plum tuckered out.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
I ended up having a salad for dinner.
-
I followed Magoo with Peewee's Playhouse Christmas special. I'm now watching the Reginald Owen version of A Christmas Carol.
-
We need to know where you had the very tasty cheeseburger and onion rings.
Thanks in advance.
I have a social membership at the Pine Ridge Club. It's mostly golfers and they pay through the nose, but a social membership 9for a modest monthly fee) allows me to dine in and to use their pool and attend special functions not on the fairway. So, I ordered from there. It's the best burger in town and the onion rings are pretty darned tasty, too. It hasn't actually been a treat since the pandemic. Menu is a bit restricted and if you don't reserve a table or get there by 6 p.m., you're lucky if they have anything available that they could prepared before 9 or 10 p.m. The's because they lost theiir sous chef and some staff and no one has stepped up to fill those gaps.
I got to see their Christmas tree on my way out
-
FWIW, I googled the croquembouche and realize I have seen those on the Great British Baking Show. Only they call them by a different name...someting religieuse...likening them to nuns. I don't really care what it's called. I could eat me some creme-filled choux pastries.
-
I'm plum tuckered out.
From? Making those Christmas crostini?
-
Hard to believe that Thanksgiving was already a week ago.
It's hard for me to believe that Labor Day has already passed us by.
-
Tomorrow is another day.
It is also the birthday of the fiancee of my cousin Butch, who is two years younger than I. He has planned for a party of 14 to surprise her at a new restaurant in the town of Edgefield, the seat of Edgefield County. Strom Thurmond was from Edgefield, just to give you some perspective of where I am and up with which I put.
At any rate, the eatery is called Christina's and it specializes in locally grown everything. I have heard only good things about it, so we shall see.
Yes.
It's in a building that "used to be" Nonna's...a rather chi-chi and very expensive (and SO not worth it) Italian restaurant. A plate of spaghetti with meat sauce was $25. You got a lot, but you really didn't want that much. A glass of red wine was $13. I have paid less than that for a bottle of very good wine (well...when I was in Italy). I went once and only once. I had two glasses of wine with my spaghetti and paid over $50 for the privilege. Oy!
-
Well, I see that I am alone here...no guests, either. That's the way it goes. And it's my bedtime, so nighty-night.
-
Good night, Ron.
-
I just got home.
-
After work, I went to my sister's to give my niece a STEPS (https://www.stepsofficial.co.uk/) hoody that she asked me go get for her on eBay.
-
It's for their current tour, and since my niece can't go to England, she buys their stuff online.
-
After I dropped off the hoody, I decided to go to Subway for dinner.
-
I got a chicken-bacon-ranch sub, but the price on the display board was less than what their computer terminal rung it up as. :o
-
The difference was less than a dollar, but still....
-
I just turned on my TV and Annie Live! is on, and it sounds like there's a laugh track. :o
-
Enjoy Annie, George.
-
I’m off to bed.
-
I have a four-day weekend. And there’s too much planned.
-
Just listening to the reprise of "Little Girls," Taraji P. Henson has a pretty good voice!
-
Let’s move on …
-
Seven!
-
Good night, all.
-
Enjoy Annie, George.
Thanks, John. I was in a local production back in the '90s and really had a good time. :)
-
There is a live audience, but it sounds "enhanced."
-
The arrangement and choreography for "Hard-Knock Life" are quite modern.
-
The kids perform the song very well.
-
You bet they enhance the audience.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
I have a four-day weekend. And there’s too much planned.
What a coincidence. I, too, have a four-day weekend, followed by a 5-day week, and then another weekend.
Sadly, my weekend isn't planned A dinner, sure, but....unless i make my own kind of music, I won't be singing any kind of song.
(I just stopped back in after a visit to the FilmScoreMonthly Messageboard). Night, again.
-
Harry Connick, Jr., is wearing a bald wig.
-
There was a big tap dance during "NYC" that was pretty cool.
-
There's a new song, a duet for Miss Hannigan and Warbucks called "Sign," where Warbucks goes to the orphanage to tell Miss Hannigan that he's going to adopt Annie and she needs to "Sign" some papers for him to be able to adopt Annie.
-
Spoo! I didn't realize that "Sign" was written for the original movie...it's not a new song.
-
They also added "We Got Annie," also from the movie, but which I just found out was written for and cut from the original show.
-
They should have done the SHOW without all the BS.
-
Why I oughta...
-
These kids today.
-
I had a piece of cherry pie even though I said I wouldn't - now I'm regretting it.
-
They should have done the SHOW without all the BS.
Other than the two added songs, they seem to he following the show order.
-
So far (I started watching late, so now I'm up to "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile"), the only song that they've skipped is "You Won't Be an Orphan for Long."
-
Harry played the piano a little bit while singing "Something Was Missing."
-
Annie said, "Gee Mr. Warbucks. You play the piano?" And he says, "Not if you ask my good friend George Gershwin."
-
Gratuitous Post #203! ;D

Well, that was weird. Miss Hannigan didn't get arrested with Rooster and Lily! She and the other orphans rushed in just as the "Mudges" were about to take Annie, and squeeled on Rooster and Lily.
-
Then Annie said that they shouldn't arrest Miss Hannigan because she tried to save Annie, so Warbucks asked President Hoover to make Miss Hannigan the first worker in his New Deal to put unemployed workers to work...since the orphanage is now closed and she's one of the 5 million unemployed.

I don't know why they'd make that change, unless they wanted to keep it open for one of the sequels that never really went anywhere. ::)
;)
-
Anyway, even with all that said, I really did enjoy it.
-
The TV soundtrack won't be released until January 21 and I plan to get it.
-
I did not get the soundtrack to the movie remake with Jamie Foxx.
-
I didn't even see that movie. ::)
-
Oh, look! It's Page Eight! ;D
-
Is anyone watching Annie?
I watched it. It was interesting. Some good parts, but it didn’t seem to gel into one complete musical.
-
I don’t know what it was.
-
Thanks to you all for the good thoughts.

We are leaving tomorrow morning.
Where are you going?

Oh, my f'ing goodness! Here's a segment from tonight's The Rachel Maddow Show. Rachel reports that Anti-Vaxxers Are Literally Eating Dirt To Fight Covid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-UEnDQBLxw). :o
-
Rachel Maddow looks at the increasingly extreme and bizarre ideas being pursued by people who eschew Covid vaccines in favor of imaginary remedies, and shares reporting from Brandy Zadrozny of NBC News on an alarming number of people purchasing bags of dirt they've been convinced have medicinal value.

I thought you wrote, ”Car started fire.”. I thought, Oh my God. Get rid of it.
