Well, you've read the notes, the notes welcomed 2022, and now it is time for you to post until the 2022 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REJUVENATE!
-
I removed the extra post so we'd be at 555!

So, I checked my mail when I got home last night, and I received a package that was obviously a CD. I totally forgot what it could've been, but now that I've finally opened it, it's the remastered, limited edition 1982 Japanese cast recording of Evita (https://castalbums.org/recordings/-1982-Tokyo-Cast/3741/). If I had gotten through Amazon.com, it would've cost $61.99 + $5.20 shipping + $6.32 tax for a grand total of $73.51! HOWEVER, I got it from https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B095GLPWBS/ and it only cost me a total of $23.52 US! :D
-
And it looks like I got one of the last ones that they had, because it's no longer available. ;)
-
Good morning, all!
-
Happy New Year to one and all!
This is also the eighth day of Christmas.

Several years ago, when I actually was making money, I gave my wonderful neighbor Pixie, who lives in the apartment below me, $200 for headshots. Last night, around 4:00, she showed up at my door with a carton that had been left in the lobby for me and a shopping bag of gifts: a berry cake she had baked for me, a beautiful card, a couple of Covid home tests, and an envelope containing $200.
-
In 2008, during the bedbug mess, she went through cancer. At that time I was sleeping on the floor on an air mattress since my apartment was virtually empty to deal with the bugs, and I could hear her hysterical sobbing late at night through the floorboards. I didn't know until later what was going on.
-
So, we talked about my situation - she asked why I was occasionally heard screaming "fuck fuck fuck" at the top of my lungs - and I suddenly had a panic attack, fell completely apart, and cried like a baby. She held me till I calmed down, gave me some advice, and we talked about other things, and she left around 5:00.
-
After that, I cleaned my dishes and the cats'. gave them their treat, and we watched the first act of the Todd-AO version of Oklahoma! What a wonderful movie. I would swear that score is as fresh now as it was in 1943, and everything Gloria Grahame utters makes me laugh. I think she and Charlotte Greenwood are the best of a great cast, and deMille's dream ballet - with Oliver Smith's amazing designs - seems more of a surrealistic nightmare than it ever did onstage.
-
By 9:00 the cats and I were ready for bed. I turned off the lights and could not get to sleep. I finally got up, checked the clock, and it was 12:02. I said to the cats, And 2022 is already a rotten year.
Sometime after that, I fell asleep. I woke later, and Thatch was sharing my pillow. Sometime around 3:00, I had a bathroom break, and Stella took his place for the rest of the night.
-
DR Jeanne, good luck with your car.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Sorry I pooped out last night.
-
:)
-
~~~CAR VIBES~~~ for DR Jeanne!!!
-
Good morning.
-
Glad that Pixie was there for you, DR elmore3003.
-
There were a ridiculous amount of fireworks going off here all last night. Of course, at midnight it was the worst. Leonard hid under the bed.
-
Wonderful neighbors are such a blessing, Elmore.
-
My Fitbit tells me I got less than four hours of sleep last night.
-
Glad that Pixie was there for you, DR elmore3003.
She's a wonderful neighbor. She showed me two YouTube vdeos she worked on this year.
In this one she plays the gay boy's mother, and I didn't recognize her!:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc_6sz-kg_s
She narrates this creepy short by her friend Max:
-
Wonderful neighbors are such a blessing, Elmore.
I've been very blessed with Mark and Judy next foor, Pixie downstairs, and Ann and Jen on five. I just do not want to become an imposition on any of them.
-
Leonard is playing with a box of marbles and having a terrific time.
-
That sounds like a fantastic way to start off 2022.
-
If only I had my marbles.
-
But since I don't, I'm
taking my marbles and going home.
-
TWO!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Bad night of sleep. I had a toothache.
-
And it was too warm.
-
Good Morrow, gentle folk.
-
Happy first day of 2022.
-
I got 10 hours of sleep!! I could use a couple more, truth be told.
-
I have been invited to lunch with my cousin Debra and her family.
I shall partake.
-
Will there be pancakes?
-
And it was too warm.
Not here.
-
I felt like buckwheat pancakes. Buckwheat used to be freely available in the local stores, but I haven't found any for a long while. Just ordered some online. But it won't help me right now, darn it.
-
I'm making soup.
I made vegetable soup for the vegans. I hate overcooked broccoli in soup, so I'll add that and the spinach at the last minute tomorrow.
I am making beef and barley soup. Our roast didn't have any bones this year (very disappointing), but I'm using the broth I did get. Beef and barley with just onions, carrots, and celery is my favorite.
-
Then maybe some potato cheese soup.
-
Then I'll start the bread bowls.
-
New Year's Day greetings! We rang in 2022 and I crashed almost immediately. This morning I've been switching out calendars around the house.
-
Sounds great, DR Laura.
-
That U.S. Time website is pretty cool, DR George.
-
2022 is pronounced "2020, too."
-
Happy New You for 2022!
-
Congrats to MR BK on his millstone.
-
Lovely posts last year.....I mean last night.....ha! Same thing!
-
Rainy here with temps in the 50's. This is January?
-
Good health and happiness to all here at HHW!
-
Time to get up, I guess.
-
With all this talk of books, I am reminded of this contemporary art exhibit. The piece is entitled: "The impact of a book."
-
And...
-
I finished Solid Ivory by James Ivory.....and it was okay. If you're interested it might be for you.
I also just finished a 2021 biography of Oscar Wilde which I enjoyed. It spent a LOT of time on his young years and his parents and brother.....the last third was mostly what everyone knows, but it was well told.
The J. Edgar Hoover bio was pretty much as might be expected. The man was a bureaucrat with no scruples and very misguided in many things he believed....and quite a skilled liar.
-
Good morning, all... the first in a new year that may it please the goddesses will be better than the last two.
-
I think I finally crapped out around two in the a.m., and I did indeed get a solid sleep of about seven hours which is more than my usual. It ended in an interesting dream that concerned a college setting with a multilevel performing arts theater that also housed all-night eating and drinking establishments.
-
Rainy here with temps in the 50's. This is January?
Here, too. It felt like spring when I brought in the newspaper.
-
It’s 50 here, too, with tomorrow supposed to be higher!
And then it drops.
-
New Year's Day greetings! We rang in 2022 and I crashed almost immediately. This morning I've been switching out calendars around the house.
I switched out one calendar two days ago and will do my second calendar this morning.
-
2022 is pronounced "2020, too."
Please let it not be a too.
-
Seems like we should be changing the clocks, too. :)
-
Rainy here with temps in the 50's. This is January?
Here, too. It felt like spring when I brought in the newspaper.
We are having unusually cold temps.
-
DR Elmore is blessed with some wonderful neighbors.
-
Right now I am lazily indulging in the tradition of lounging around in front of the annual Twilight Zone marathon on the SyFy Channel.
It is, of course, the worst way to watch the series, especially when you own the absolute best transfers. I just enjoy the ritual in an ironic way.
-
Ironic is the way to go, definitely.
-
I checked my inventory of work necessities, and I ordered 12" rulers amd Liquid Paper strips. I'm down to about six Paper Mate Liquid Flair Pens, Black, Medium point, and every place I googled is out stock or claims the product is no longer available. Now, in over 40 years of putting musical notes on opaper, I have been through many pens looking for the best one for my purpose, and these are my favorite. I've used them for maybe the past fifteen years, and if they are no longer available, there's going to be one really pissed off Paper Mate customer.
I can only find extra-fine point pens, which is too delicate for my heavy hand, and I'd buy the fine point pens if I could find any of the the mothers. I'd buy medium in blue or purple, since they will photograph as black, if I could find them. All I can locate are red. WTF?
-
I'm up, I'm up - was in bed by one-thirty or so and I think I was sort of asleep by two, but up at four with very Active Brain Syndrome, so much so that I got up and wrote a bunch of stuff down because I would have forgotten it. Then sleep was very fitful - maybe six hours.
-
Up from a nap.
-
If December was the highest posting total for the yet, I think all the credit should go to the return of DR Ron.
-
Bad night of sleep. I had a toothache.
Oh, no!
~~~Tooth Vibes for John!!~~~
-
:)
I like that! (Cat pushes 2021 off the shelf)
-
That U.S. Time website is pretty cool, DR George.
I know! They've changed it over the years, but I still have some screen captures from the early to mid 2000s on my computer (I just woke up so I'm on my phone now).
-
For dinner I had mashed potatoes, fried sauerkraut, and bratwurst. I've been craving black-eyed peas since DR ChasSmith brought them up.
-
~~~CAR VIBES~~~ for DR Jeanne!!!
Ditto!
:)
Agreed! ;D
Larry, what a powerful and emotional story. I would think that would be a sign of better things in 2022.
Seems like we should be changing the clocks, too. :)
That's exactly what I was thinking!
-
There were a ridiculous amount of fireworks going off here all last night. Of course, at midnight it was the worst. Leonard hid under the bed.
I sure hope Leonard is a cat.
Shades of Sondheim and his pencils!
-
I really hope Leonard is a cat.
You can’t go home, you are home.
Rub it in, John!
If December was the highest posting total for the yet, I think all the credit should go to the return of DR Ron.
I was thinking something similar. Thank you, Ron.
-
I am home from New Year's Day lunch at my cousin Debra's. In attendance were her husband Rob, her stepson Lee, her real son Chad, her grandson Wyatt, and her daughter Becky, son-in-law Evan and granddaughter Audrey James.
Lunch was baked ham, sweet potato souffle, collards, black-eyed peas and cornbread. That's Southern eatin', y'all.
I ate well. We had some really good discussion at the table.
One thing I learned, that I suspected, but had confirmed: No one in that family likes to read. It bores them to read.
I have to question my blood ties. I love to read, and so did my mother. My aunt read, too, but her children only read what they had to in school After, nothing new gets read. If it's made into a movie or mini-series, they prefer that.
Sigh.
That's huge, and I don't see a way to reduce it.
-
Four!
I wouldn't go that far at all. Thanks for thinking of me, though.
Here, too. It felt like spring when I brought in the newspaper.
Blue skies and 17 degrees this morning.
-
Up to 30 degrees now.
-
Blue skies
Are they smiling at ya?
-
We've started a series called Cardinal on Hulu and are enjoying it. It's kind of in the dark, Scandinavian crime genre. Set in a fictional town in Canada. Lots of snow and ice.
-
It seems like every program in the civilized world is ending up on Hulu.
-
Wow! Pretty cool picture, John!
-
Futzed and finessed the stuff I'd written - that took quite a while because it was rough and I had to get it right before continuing. And then I wrote seven pages beyond that. Taking a break now for a while and will write more before starting to cook. I'm enjoying it, though.
-
That's good, bk.
-
Can you say if the new book is about characters we've met before, or brand new ones?
-
If December was the highest posting total for the yet, I think all the credit should go to the return of DR Ron.
I agree, and also the return of DR Singdaw.
-
:o
I don't know if my cousins read much. In my immediate family only my sister didn't read much.
-
That's huge, and I don't see a way to reduce it.
It is pretty. I hope it comes true, all in very good ways.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
What a lot of posts last night!
-
Thanks for all the vibes for my car. The last time it did this it needed a new battery, but my car-conscious neighbor tells me that it could be anything. I've had very little trouble with this car, it has low miles, and I have a good mechanic. It's just the timing that's bad. But when are car repairs ever convenient?
-
Several years ago, when I actually was making money, I gave my wonderful neighbor Pixie, who lives in the apartment below me, $200 for headshots. What a nice surprise! Did you remember she owed you the money?
-
Then I'll start the bread bowls.
All this on only four hours sleep? That's impressive!
-
I learned today that QUEER EYE is now back on Netflix with a new season. Yay! I love that show! I hadn't heard anything at all about a new season.
-
That's all my news.
Enjoy your day!
TTFN.
-
I'm at my sister's and we're going to play ... MONOPOLY! It's my niece's favorite game, but no one else really wants to play, but we're going to play it now. Our once-a-year playing for my niece. :)
-
Something tells me that 555, two days in a row, ain’t going to happen.
-
LOL, I think not.
-
Up to 30 degrees now.
Once it reached 30 here we bundled up for a walk.
-
It sure was cold this morning wearing shorts to the gym.
-
I have brought in maybe 15 plants. The weather is going from 80 into the 30s. Then tomorrow night it will drop into the 20s. It’ll be 80 again in a week.
-
Anybody familiar with a saxophonist named Dan Block? I found an unopened CD titled Dan Block Plays Izzy Baline aka Irving Berlin. It was all of $2 and has songs strictly from the 1920s. Some are famous, some obscure. I liked the first song, which is all I heard.
-
Celebrated a friend’s birthday at a place that specializes in chicken-fried steak. The dinner was delicious but I couldn’t eat half of the entree.
-
Five!
-
I need a comedy tonight. So, it's Blithe Spirit. Not a perfect movie, but I have had this David Lean directs Noel Coward box set sitting here for a while.
-
Wow. Carindal took a dark - really dark - turn. Not sure if I would recommend it now to anyone with a weak stomach.
-
Emily in Paris now has a second season on Netflix, as well.
-
We re-watched Betty White's SNL episode. Funny stuff.
-
Wow, such extremes.
Gavin MacLeod and Jay Sandrich from Mary Tyler Moore also died last year.
Up until reading this I thought Emily in Paris was a movie ;D
-
Would someone please buy me the winning ticket for the $500 million Powerball? I'd be awfully grateful.
-
The fireworks have started.
-
Happy New Year!
-
The fireworks have started.
Sigh.
-
Wishing everyone here good things in the coming year.
-
Marshall Harvey and Robert Yacko were the guests for food - the faux stroganoff went over very well and we had lots of fun chatter. I'll relax for a while and then try to perhaps do another three or four pages - I'm actually within spitting distance of finishing chapter one.
-
Good night, friends.
'night
The stars of Blithe Spirit, Rex Harrison and Margaret Rutherford, hated the play. Director David Lean didn't get it and at the time, didn't like it. It's all sort of blandly fun. The play is better than the movie.
The play is too long. The first scene is longer than the Ice Age.
I just finished watching the first season of "Manifest" on NetFlix. It's more riveting now than when I first saw it. Knowing the crux of the story allows me to appreciate the nuances of the show.
Am so glad that it will get a fourth, and final, season on NetFlix
I was fortunate enough to see the road version with Angela Lansbury when it came to San Francisco a few years back. 2016, I believe. It was fun seeing it live.
I miss the Bay Area a great deal.
It would be prohibitively expensive to live there on my retirement.
-
My sinuses have been in overdrive since about 5 p.m. No matter what I do, they continue to be active and very inconvenient.
-
Breathing vibes for Ron.
-
Good night, all.
-
I, with zero guests, am alone in this here chat.
It's like I'm talking to myself. It's a bit different from dancing with myself, but it is odd.
-
Breathing vibes for Ron.
Many thanks.
-
Good night, all.
Good night, you!
-
I think I'm through writing for the day - twenty-three pages - but as you know, a few of those were already written, but I did so much revising of them that they were probably two-thirds new - so a really good day of writing. I'm already into chapter two.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Breathing vibes for Ron.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
I'm home.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, Kevin! Don’t be a stranger.
-
Heavy rain is coming thru late tomorrow afternoon, which should finally melt our snow.
-
Unfortunately, the rain is arriving with a wind storm tomorrow for all of the Puget Sound area. Wind gusts to 40 to 50 mph expected all day.
-
Possible power outages expected.
-
Didn't rain today. I never actually left the house.
-
Nor did I leave the house.
-
Let's face it - I didn't leave the house.
-
Did George go to bed? Or is he practicing his Monopoly skills?
-
Well, I have taken my pain pill, so I am going to bed.
-
Good night, BK.
-
Did George go to bed? Or is he practicing his Monopoly skills?
Neither. I was chatting with a friend.
-
When playing Monopoly this afternoon, I landed on FREE PARKING (we do add all fees and fines to the space) three times!
-
One time, I got a total of $1900!! :D
-
But I still lost. :P
