This was a sight in my back yard three years ago today:

I hsven't seen any sunning turtles in a long while, although I know they are in the pond because I can see their heads when they are swimming along.
Good morning...sad news to report: Sidney Poitier, Oscar-winning actor and Hollywood's first Black movie star, dies at 94 (https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/07/entertainment/sidney-poitier-death/index.html).
Things I learned yesterday - DR GEORGE misplaced his internet and went to New Mexico.
This is a first: We got our driveway plowed early this morning by accident.
The neighbor had someone new come to do hers, and he went up the wrong one. We heard him, and assumed it was our regular guy. So later Nathan and I went out to do the snowblowing, shovel cleanup, sanding, etc. and along comes our guy. We were chatting for a minute and, in conversation, found out this was his first time here today.
So, haha. We are very fortunate in not having to pay for it, but most people pay - a lot - and I'll bet that other guy was pissed when he had to come back to do the correct driveway...for free.

Thanks for noticing. :)
Thanks for noticing. :)
I’m always glad to notice other people’s cold temperatures from afar. It’s freezing here today and supposedly is going to hit 80 Sunday.
My mother used to hire me out to shovel neighbors’ driveways, which I detested because of the cold. And she undercharged for the service. I think that has contributed to my hatred of snow.
Banana bread?
I just found out that one of the women who plays cards at my mom's each week has Covid! :o
She hasn't played since the week before Christmas, so I'm assuming she was exposed when she flew to visit her son back east for Christmas.
Nope. Are you going to try it?
I just had the strangest little movie watching session. I went in to make sure my DVR had recorded something. Since I always leave the cable box tuned to TCM so whenever I turn it on I'm not assaulted by some horrendous thing, I checked out what was playing this evening. It was apparently a Ray Milland afternoon, and I thought I'd just sample the next movie that was about to start -- Night Into Morning (1951), which was kind of an older style weepie. Amusingly, Milland plays an alcoholic. Again. And it was pretty good. I ended up just watching it all, then the next one looked more interesting -- The Safecracker (1958), and this one was quite compelling right up to the ending which was rushed and just a bit lame in the details and the sudden wartime-style sentimental turn. But it was good to see both of them.
Nope. Are you going to try it?
I think so. I found a French recipe online called Duchese potatoes that use them. The version I have is Irish. They sound good.

Mine are supposed to be used as a base over which Guinness beef stew is poured.
Has anyone seen a version of Morning's At Seven. I'm going to order a copy because I think I might like to direct it at PCPH in 2023.....but it would be nice to have some thoughts from the theeder mavens at HHW.

Then your mother wasn't exposed?
Vibes for George's mom and family.
Has anyone heard of using an egg yolk in mashed potatoes?
NEGATIVE!
I want to, at least, give it a try.
