Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filmed with a potato camera, and now it is time for you to post until the potato camera cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PRUINOSE!
-
Today, I'll work from home again and see how things go. I won't play cards at my mom's tonight. I'll continue to stay home.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to everyone
-
I enjoyed the interview yesterday. I thought that Richard skipper asked some very interesting questions but you don’t normally hear in an interview.
-
Bruce have you ever considered using a ring light that a lot of people seeem to use
-
I was using a ring light - the camera on the computer doesn't care about ring lights - it's just really cheap. I looked great on the iPhone camera and the ring light worked perfectly with it. I heard back from Camo and turns out all I would have had to do is relaunch the app and then it would have shown as an option in the Streamyard thing. Well, next time.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Here is the link to bk's interview from yesterday:

-
Good morning, all!
-
Another terrible night of sleep. I think I will go back to bed for a bit.
-
Good morning!
Nearly 8 hours of sleep! I am over the moon. And just in time, 'cause the sun is up!
-

-
Good morning, all.
-
Great news, Ron!
-
I have only one thing on my agenda today, other than the "usual" things on my daily agendas: A haircut!
Yes, it is time to have the ears significantly lowered.
-
Am pondering a trip to Sam's Club. My goal: Paper towels.
I "thought" I had a big package of paper towels in my pantry.
But "NO"...when I went for a roll I discovered I had bought toilet tissue instead.
Do you know how many rolls of toilet tissue I now have in this house?? Well, it will be the end of the year before I might need to buy more!
Hopefully, at any rate.
-
Great news, Ron!
Good morrow, John.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It is Thursday.
I have to go out to the bank drive-thru, fill up the automobile, fill a gas can, and run into a grocery store for two (2) things.
-
But not in that order. The gas stop will be last, so I'll be coming straight home once I have a filled gasoline can in the car.
-
I just canceled a church subbing job this Sunday. I don't like doing that, but with the timing of the storm (it could be snowing till late Saturday night), there's no way I can guarantee I'll be getting out of my driveway in time to get to a church that's an hour away.
-
I'll be watching BK's interview later this morning.
This is one of those things I never thought I'd be saying, but I need to get me one of those ring lights, even for the few times I'm on an informal Zoom session -- meaning, one that isn't about me and it doesn't matter how I, in particular, look. The lighting where I sit at the computer is fine for everything I do except that.
-
I went back to bed until 8:15, then did kitty cleanup. I'm still very tired. Maybe I will sleep late on Sunday. With hte cats, I doubt it.
-
Another thing I will accomplish today is watching the last three episodes of the first season of The Orville. Then I'll let that rest for a while before starting season two.
-
BY THE BYE...
The ring light will be for the house. Kristi does quite a bit of online stuff, Nathan does a little, and neither of them has one. But this will most assuredly not become a three (3) ring light household. I promise.
-
DR elmore3003 - do you have to go on Saturday to make up for the missed day?
-
I have only one thing on my agenda today, other than the "usual" things on my daily agendas: A haircut!
Yes, it is time to have the ears significantly lowered.
It’s been more than two years since I had my ears lowered. After winter. Maybe.
-

As opposed to a three-ring circus?

Onward!

CARA CARA
KOOKABURRA
-
It was only 3 degrees when I got up this morning, but now it's 13!
I don't want to brag, but it looks like we could be getting up to about 30 today.
-
We got about 1/2" of s**w this morning.
-
Thanks DR JANE & DR JEANNE - the big house goes on the market next week and yes hopefully it will be sold as quickly as the little house.
-
I shall also listen to the interview later today!
-
I'm not particularly a fan of the topic of the question of the day - so I shall pass.

It’s not quite that long.

Val Kilmer IS Moses!
I have that DVD. Sad.
-
Does it have a song about manna?
-
I don’t remember. I try not to remember.
-
I'm up, I'm up - four hours of sleep. Going to storage shortly to get that out of the way.
-
There were two cds in my mailbox this morning...."Hold on to your hats" and "make mine manhattan."
Which is a good thing because I ordered them both.
-
Make mine cara cara.
-
Oh my.
Glancing over the posts, my eyes took in the two replies just above this one, and I swear I thought DR Jrand71's said:
There were two cats in my mailbox this morning.
-
Good afternoon!
-
My Rose-Marie has arrived.
-
From George:
Years ago (I forget how many), we had a storm that was so cold that everything was covered in a layer of ice. I think I lost power for either three or four days. I only remember that happening once.
Only once, not bad. I can't remember how often that happened living on the East Coast or in Michigan.
-
George good luck getting an appointment for a covid test.
-
From TCB:
There have been 13 fires in Tacoma in the last 24 hours. Several of them were in the Central area of Tacoma, but there was one grouping of three fires in the North end of Tacoma and next door in Ruston.
:o
I hope they catch the person or persons who started these.
-
OMG Tom, are you saying if you hadn't moved you would have had a fire in your building?

It's been pretty close to a year for me. I definitely need to cut mine too, but not until I'm deemed safe to out in the world again.
-
George good luck getting an appointment for a covid test.
Thanks, Jane!
-
Just taking a break from work.
-
DR elmore3003 - do you have to go on Saturday to make up for the missed day?
No. They add it to the end. So, I'm scheduled to end on Feb. 15, buyt I may end on Feb. 17 or so.
-
You know, I had kind of forgotten about Mercury and Uranus ..... until I got home from running my errands today. There were more little things "off" and f'ed up about this short routine trip that it would be disheartening to recount them all. In the end, thankfully, I got everything done and got home in one piece.
-
I also remembered something about yesterday's short trip out that I'll identify as the start of this 24-hour Mercury run: I had to go to Petco for a few extra days worth of Mikey's food, and then to Shop Rite for myself. Fortunately -- FORTUNATELY, I tell you -- I'd decided to do Petco first. I took all of two minutes gathering what I wanted in cat food, and went to the checkout lines. The guy asked me if I had the (whatever they call it) card or I could just give my phone number. I said "yes, I do, and I also have to ask you to please hold these items for me for a short time because I LEFT THE HOUSE WITHOUT MY WALLET".
I had broken routine, you see. I have a little checklist thing I say to myself when starting the car, to account for keys, wallet, and phone. And I distinctly remembered not doing it on my way out. Thankfully, it's but a 7-minute drive between the house and Petco, so I retrieved the wallet, went back and paid for the goods, and the clerk and I had a good laugh over it. And here's why I emphasized FORTUNATELY earlier. If I'd gone to Shop Rite first, I would have spent a good 20 to 30 minutes looking around and picking out everything I wanted before finding myself with no wallet. That, I believe, ladies and germs, would have been the straw that killed me.
-
Getting home was hell. The car was over 30 minutes late, and I had already been waiting for 45 minutes since the ride to the hospital was very early.
-
Back to today:
And then, once home, I did a couple of things that needed doing for storm prep around the garage and the outside, and then my garage door wouldn't shut.
Long story short (because, trust me, you don't want to hear it): I unlatched it from the mechanism and pulled it shut manually, came inside, made sure everything else was done, and made myself a nice afternoon martini. There's something special about an afternoon martini, you know? Well, I know. And here I am enjoying it and I don't care who knows it. I mean, I'm posting about it on the World Wide Web, so obviously it's okay if the Wide World knows it. Right?
Right.
-
My Rose-Marie has arrived.
Is that a euphemism?
-
Haircut - Check!
Trip to Sam's Club - Check!
Paper towels - Check!
And then some...lots of then somes, too.
So many wonderful things...oooh.
AND...I got my three free N95 masks as Sam's Club.
-
Free N95s?
We have no Sams Club here, that I'm aware of. Just Costco and BJs.
-
A work colleague reports that her free test kits from the government arrived today. So they are going out.
-
Back from a very frustrating trip to storage and then a meal.
-
Every single time I go to storage, which is a good thirty minute drive, which means the battery is getting lots of use and juice, the car won't lock properly. And when I go to start it up right after that happens? It will barely turn over. I don't get it and I have HAD it. I had to leave it running the entire hour I was there. I couldn't find what I was looking for and that was frustrating because so many boxes are not turned label out so I had to shift and lug and I think I probably pulled every muscle in my body. I couldn't check the downstairs room because I somehow misplaced my mask and the paper with the unit numbers. I looked everywhere and couldn't find them, even though I saw both before locking up one of the units - I even double checked to make sure I didn't leave then inside the unit. At that point, I'd had it and just left.
-
My Rose-Marie has arrived.
Mine arrived last week from Amazon. I put it inrto my iTunes on Sunday. It isn't as bad as I remembered, but I found the sound strange.
-
I stopped at Nat's Cafe - a local coffee shop that I'd only been to once before because everyone raved about it. But I'd had quite the mediocre breakfast there so never went back. But reading raves again, I went for lunch (it's only open from six in the morning until two in the afternoon). It's really kind of a hipster's place - it's mostly that and workers from around there and a few older folk. I had a bacon cheeseburger that was ordinary but the fries were pretty good and the burger wasn't bad or anything. One always wants these little jernts to be great, but alas...
-
Sorry, bk. That IS frustrating.
-
I read today that if we observed a minute of silence for each Jewish victim of the Holocaust, it would be a silence of 11.5 years. And 21, if you included non-Jewish victims. Ugh.
-
It's cold out there. Wear a
hat cat.
-
Pistachio white chocolate cranberry cookie, anyone?
-
DR Jane asked:
DR Jennifer if you have to wear masks outside where it isn't crowded, that is excessive. Can you take masks off in restaurants once you sit down?
No you don't have to wear masks outside. Restaurants are closed. But yes you can take them off when you sit down.

Keith has Google Pay & Samsung Pay on his phone. If I get a new iPhone I will probably download Apple Pay on to it.

I wish I enjoyed martini's because an afternoon martini sounds nice.

Wow!

No you don't have to wear masks outside. Restaurants are closed. But yes you can take them off when you sit down.
Currently closed but when they reopen you can take the masks off to eat? How long have they been closed?
-
Ooh! Ooh!

No you don't have to wear masks outside. Restaurants are closed. But yes you can take them off when you sit down.
What I am wondering, DR Jennifer, is what can you tell us -- if anything -- about caravans of semi truckers headed for Ottawa to protest policies about vaccinations.
-
Free N95s?
We have no Sams Club here, that I'm aware of. Just Costco and BJs.
Yes, the federal government is making 400 million N95 masks free to citizens via drug stores and markets throughout the country. Availability is dependent upon when they arrive.
Sam's Club is a part of the Walmart organization...and Walmart is one of the distributors of those masks. Walgreens and CVS stores in SC are expected to also have them beginning tomorrow.
-
Outside of "Cocoon", which I love, I cannot think of another Brian Dennehy film.
-
In case you didn't know it was coming, this is on the Warner Archives slate for March, or thereabouts. It's done like they did for "How the West Was Won"....and that was spectacular:

Currently closed but when they reopen you can take the masks off to eat? How long have they been closed?
They are re-opening at 50% next week. I think everything (bars/gyms/movie theatres...) closed late December.
Yes you can take masks off when you sit down.

I just know that they are protesting the vaccine mandates. Here at least there have been all kinds of new measures this week. You currently cannot go into a big box store unless you are vaccinated. And it's similar for truckers (not being allowed to go from US to Canada without being vaccinated.

With all of your restrictions I hope your hospitals are not as over crowded as ours are.
-
BK, the interview was most enjoyable. I didn’t know Richard Skipper, and I thought he ran a good show and even asked some good questions.
BTW, the lack of ideal lighting was not a problem in my opinion. It wasn’t distracting, and I liked that the “side light” aspect lent a bit of a softer, almost cinematic quality. It could certainly have been too harsh, and it wasn’t.
-
Good night, friends.

Parts of this was filmed in Rothenberg, which is about 20 minutes from Mom’s hometown.

It’s rather different from my avatar.

Fun night of dance class. Everyone got the steps in no time, and two were rather tricky.

Looking forward to judging the San Antonio BBQ Cook-Off tomorrow.

Watching a rather remarkable independent flick called Swan Song, which is not to be confused with that other independent flick out called Swan Song.
-
This one stars Udo Kier as a retired hairdresser asked to do the hair for a dead former client. Kier is remarkable. In his words, "I'm supposed to make a dead bitch look human."
-
The script is a little long. Some of the scenes don't work. But Kier is fierce. And one scene, in which he encounters a woman who could only afford to have him do her hair once, is touching in all the right ways.

Swan Song has come to an end. I had no idea the main character was based on a real person. I doubt the story was real, but the fabulousness remains.
-
Good night, all.

Thursday is over.
It is Friday in South Carolina.
-
I don't know what to do about today.
-
Maybe sleep will help me figure it out.

Five

I had no idea! Thanks, John!

Finished with my viewing. I'll continue proofing after a little snack. I'll get another thirty or forty pages done. I got hung up on one chapter doing quite a few small revisions that I then ran by Muse Margaret and she liked them all. I had to get the chapter right before going on - I think I remember letting stuff slide just to keep moving forward. The adjustments were pretty simple, though.
-
One good thing about working from home is that I can watch TV and get my work done.
-
Today, I was able to watch the last three episodes of Doctor Who.
-
Now, I'm watching the DW New Year's Day special, "Eve of the Daleks."
-
I have only one thing on my agenda today, other than the "usual" things on my daily agendas: A haircut!
Yes, it is time to have the ears significantly lowered.
It’s been more than two years since I had my ears lowered. After winter. Maybe.
Two years! Are you sure it isn't your ASS you'll be getting lowered?
It’s not quite that long.
And... on an unrelated note....
Val Kilmer IS Moses!
I have that DVD. Sad.
Are you serious?? Did you actually buy it, or was it a gag gift?
-
OMG Tom, are you saying if you hadn't moved you would have had a fire in your building?
Yes, that is what I am saying.
-
I can’t find any information on how bad the fire was, and I can’t drive over to Tacoma to find out.
-

The only one still alive would be Russ Tamblyn.
-
Tonight, in the spirit of Val Kilmer is Moses, I decided to watch the stage version of CAMELOT with Richard Harris trying again to be Wart.
-
OMG Tom, are you saying if you hadn't moved you would have had a fire in your building?
Yes, that is what I am saying.
Oh, my!
-
I stayed awake for the opening and the “forest” scene, but then fell asleep until just in time for Arthur’s “proposition” speech and Intermission.
-
*The opening was stolen from the movie with Arthur and his troops waiting for dawn so that they can attack Lancelot’s castle.
-
Everyone just stops posting?
-
Just like that?
-
Like that just?
-
Most unseemly.
-
New notes are up.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
I know it and I certainly don't care.
