Well, you've read the notes, the notes were stated, and now it is time for you to post until the sated cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TAW!
-
Happy birthday to dear lurker Iris.
-
So last week, I was asked if I would like to design the sound for a local production of a play called The Bold, the Young and the Murdered (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/shows/bold/). Here's the synopsis:
The long-running soap opera The Bold and the Young is in its last days. Its hunky hero has self-esteem issues, its villain is now an old man more interested in soup than villainous deeds, and its heroines are getting goony. The executive producer gives the squabbling cast an ultimatum. Complete one episode overnight or the show is over! When the director is murdered, and other cast members start dropping like flies, it seems his threat might come true. Can these misfits discover the murderer before the show itself is literally killed off?
-
The sound effects seem fairly simple...mostly stereotypical soap opera music, thunder, a couple of gun shots, things like that. I said that I'd like to, so I got a copy of the script and last night I was reading it and highlighting where the sound effect were written in the script. There probably will be more than those few specific instances, but we'll see. There's going to be a production meeting tomorrow night, but I'll make sure that I don't get too close to anyone.
-
And now, I'm off.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
:)
-
DR TCB, the documentary is called In Balanchine's Classroom (2021).
-
I propose a road trip...
To eat in the oldest restaurants in each of the 50 states.

Who knows if it's accurate? But still...
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR George, that play sounds dreadful. The probem with parodying soaps is the fact that they are already ridiculous and over the top.
-
I'm also wondering how The Bold and the Beautiful producers gave permission for this play to be performed.
-
I don't know what I did, but last night I had the best night of sleep in months.
-
DR TCB, I like a made bed. Otherwise, if I leave it unmade, between me and the cats playing on it, it gets so tangled it needs to be completely untangled before I can sleep comfortably. My rule is this: if still in underwear, lie in unmade bed. If dressed, make the bed.
-
Yesterday, after the housework was finished, the cats and I lay down on my made bed and we watched The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. I never remember which one is which, but we lauighed through both of them.
-
I've been reading Eileen Atkins' autobiography, which is very lovely, and I think I may take it to radiation with me.
-
I think it is Wednesday.
It feels sort of like a Wednesday.
We shall see.
-
I am feeling rather left out.
I mean that we had a nice bit of a cold snap a couple of weeks back during which time we had the big snow of 2022. Almost a tenth of an inch, in fact.
Now i keep hearing about a major storm sweeping eastward that will be leaving vast amounts of snow and ice over a 2,000-mile path. But this path doesn't extend down here. We keep getting warmer, for some reason.
I like warm. I don't like ice. But I have to tell you it seems wrong that so much winter is happening everywhere else, while we only get a few dribs and drabs of winter.
-
If Michel Legrand were still alive, I bet he could write a poignant and beautiful song about "The Dribs and Drabs of Winter".
-
Good morning, all.
-
Artist James Bidgood, who created the surreal Genet-inspired softporn film Pink Narcissus in the 1960s, died at age 88 yesterday.
-
I had to rise and shine earlier than usual because I’m subbing for a friend and playing a memorial service this morning.
-
Words of wisdom:
-
DR Ron Pulliam: you can sing "Winter Was Warm" without irony.
-
Good morning, Larry. Good mroning, ChasSmith.
-
Good morning, DR singdaw.
-
DR Ron Pulliam: you can sing "Winter Was Warm" without irony.
It would be without melody, as well. Don't know the song.
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, Michael.
-
Page 2
-
I remember no dreams from last night. Actually, maybe even the night before. A lull.
-
So it was a New Jersey groundhog that died. The other one was up to his usual mischief this morning, predicting six more weeks of winter.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The Love Theme from El CID was nominated for an Oscar. The song in my opinion has nothing to do with the film and I believe it was only heard in the roadshow version as part of the exit music. There was a over version released which confirms in my opinion one of the worse songs ever nominated https://youtu.be/urzlkNeNyp4
-
Good morning Ron

It’s from Magoo’s Christmas Carol. It’s stunning.

:)

Sated? How about sedated?
-
While I got my steps in this morning, I watched the new-ish recent television adaptation of Annie. I don't know what possessed me.
They tried to update it to make it hip and with it. I was not amused.
-
Does anybody care that a new jukebox musical about Michael Jackson opened on Broadway last night? I’m surprised that the one review I read was as positive as it was (so was the critic). I was not a fan of his music, so it’s definitely not a show for me. Neither is the habit of having a troika of performers playing the same person.
-

Did it need hip replacement?
-
No groaning at HHW.
-
The rodent says we got six more weeks of winter. He more wrong than right, so I hope he doesn’t break his losing streak.
-
What I would really like to do is go out somewhere for a sumptuous breakfast repast.
But instead, I'll just stick around here with my usual oatmeal.
-
Does your work team use Microsoft Teams, DR John G.?
-
We implemented it about 2 years ago.
-
It's a pretty handy collaboration tool.
-
In my department we have just been given 4 hours of "personal development" time per month, and also free access to the LinkedIn Learning database of courses.
I approve!
-
Sated? How about sedated?
Or sauteed?
-
Or sauced! :)
-
I wonder if posting at HHW counts as "personal development."
-
Does your work team use Microsoft Teams, DR John G.?
We use Slack and Mural.

And BK recorded it with Jodi Benson for his Hollywood Christmas album.

Important envelope vibes for MR BK.
-
It is 46 degrees and raining here. Sleet and snow are predicted to begin this afternoon.....between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
-
Let it s**w let it s**w let it s**w.
-
Betty Jo just lost her wedding ring down the sink.
These are weird episodes. Bea Benederet must be in treatment for cancer and Rosemary de Camp is playing Aunt Somebody or other.
And once or twice in each episode somebody sings a song - or there's a group sing a long..
But it's still better than Let's Make a Deal and that low rent bunch.
-
Today we get to write 2/2/22.
And, in a few weeks, 2/22/22.
-
Yes, they're getting bigger by the day. But still very cute.
-
THREE!!!
-
DR TCB you don't divide your birth year by 12 - you divide the age you are this year by 12......
-
They finally called back from the paper to ask about my ad. I said since we're expecting a foot of snow, I didn't think I wanted to put the ad in until that was cleaned up.....
I asked her what days the paper was published and she didn't know because our local paper is now a Gannett News publication and they are no where near us......of course our Indianapolis paper is also owned by Gannett which accounts for the dearth of local news and the much smaller local staff.
It's really scary that one company controls so much of the news/online news that people in the US get to see.
100 daily newspaper and over 1,000 weekly papers....here's a partial list....and it gets longer each day. Check to see if you are reading Gannett news....if you like.

I wonder why?

That sounds like an album I'd want to have, and don't. Varese?

Monica Vitti of Italian film fame has died.
-
Back -- half an hour later than planned, thanks to the crew filling potholes on I-84 coming into Danbury. It took nearly half an hour to go just over one mile.
Good to be back, though. First some food, and then I get to settle into my things to do for the day.
-
Sorry, DR ChasSmith - not sure what label that album was on.
-
And, speaking of Christmas....
-
Sorry, DR ChasSmith - not sure what label that album was on.
It was originally on Varese Sarabande (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Hollywood-Christmas-A-1996-Studio-Cast/13057/). :)

DR John maybe you or your sister can find a walker your mother will enjoy using, maybe even jazz it up a bit. Has it been suggested to her that a comfortable walker will actually give her independence and the ability to move faster?
-
:)
Cute :)
-
The AAR driver this morning was fantastic. He kicked a path through the snow drift so I could get friom the sidewalk to the street and held my walker to steady me till I got to his car. He was one of the three best I've had. It was a long 4-hour day at Lenox Hill and I am very glad to be home.

Why is it when your order is something you really need immediately, Amazon manages to screw it up. I got the email saying my package had been delivered, only it isn't in my building, meaning the driver has left it in another building. I am ot amused.

Wednesday afternoon greetings! It has rained all day and we’re just waiting for it to freeze before turning to snow. I have a huge vat of homemade vegetable beef soup simmering on the stove.
-
Hi VinTek. It is nice to see you.
-
Yup still just rain here. The s**w is an hour late.
-
I am super stuffed from brunch today.
-
Instead of going to the gym after Keith's morning optometrist appointment we went out to eat. One of our favorite people, and our first waitress at Beaches moved to a different restaurant. We used to go there for occasional Sunday brunches, however, she doesn't work weekends. This was our first opportunity to see her in a long while.
-
It was nice.
-
Hello, DR VinTek!
-
:)
-
DR elmore3003 - I have often gotten a "delivered" email from Amazon, only to have the package ACTUALLY arrive a day or two later.
-
One can only hope.
-
It's Wednesday, and I have a burning question for BK:
Where in Westwood was the Wherehouse? I knew them in other locations but I am totally blank on this one.
-
Next to the WhyHouse and the WhatHouse?

DR Jane, you and Keith have been to Ohio’s oldest restaurant - remember?
-
ChasSmith, it was either on Westwood or Broxton, a couple blocks south of the Village, I think.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep. Was up at two, and dealing with a lot of LA Now and Then stuff, people who agreed to do stuff back in November who can now suddenly not do it. I'm really irritated right now.

Next to the WhyHouse and the WhatHouse?

Cool. I didn't remember the name of the restaurant. I certainly recall how nice it was, and how wonderful it was to see you and Richard.
-
In Pennsylvania we ate at the the William Penn Inn. I thought it was the oldest restaurant in Pennsylvania. I just checked, and it was founded in 1714.
McGillin's Olde Ale House, listed for Pennsylvania, was only established in 1860.
-
I just had a slice of my dessert I was too full to eat at brunch, croissant bread pudding with caramel sauce & Crème Anglaise. Yum.
-
I'm afraid that's pretty much it for me.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Got so annoyed that I just went to Stanley's for a nice meal. I am now ready to explode. I had another of this week's special - spicy seafood pasta in a light tomato cream sauce. I had them go easy on the spice but there wasn't any at all, which was fine by me. Four shrimp, chunks of salmon, and it was really excellent but very filling. Had a starter Caesar with it for starters.
-
Now I'm listening to Puccini's La Boheme in a superb recording with Mirella Freni and Thomas Schippers conducting. Great sound and a wonderful performance.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
I'll get back to writing notes in a little while and finish that.
-
Getting a haircut in the morning at eleven. I haven't had one since September.
-

Walkers are for old people, she says. She’s getting one, though, like it or not.
But how do you get her to use it? What kind is she getting?
She will get one that is covered by her insurance. And they will do all the height, weight, wheel adjustments that she needs. She's got to face reality that she cannot move around with it.
-

Creme Anglaise. My favorite soup.

It sounds like a standard one. There are many varieties out there now. I hope she finds she is happier with it than she expected.

Creme Anglaise. My favorite soup.
Extremely rich soup :)

It is raining outside now. That will likely turn to sleet by morning. Already schools are closed tomorrow, including tomorrow night's dance class. Thank goodness. I was not going to drive in it.
-
Lows tomorrow night will be in the 20s and will remain that way through Sunday night.
-
Had a delicious dinner tonight. There's a noodle joint that makes the rice noodles by hand, so I had a stir-fry with shrimp and vegetables. Plus some dumplings, because both are good luck foods and New Year's goes on for a few days I'm told. Also had a plate of pickled cabbage with some slices of ginger. It was all so good that I ordered the lamb noodle soup for tomorrow. I actually think I came home with more food than I can eat in two days.
-
Five!
-
Listening to some Glen Campbell, including one of my favorites, Where's the Playground, Susie?
-
The song list calls the song "True Gift" instead of "True Grit." Somebody was sloppy.
-
Good evening.
-
Did a little reading and now my eyes are tired. Time for bed.
-
Hi, DR Laura!

I'm shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED that Eugene C. Pulliam sold Central Newspapers!!! I guess the $2.8 billion he got for it was worth it to his family.
And just how many newspapers are there in Massachusetts? Gannett must control the state!
-
I am so happy that the 2,000-mile swath of winter storm will not be invading my state with ice and snow. We expect some rain Friday, and possible some during the weekend. But temps are going to be mild.
-
That's all I've got.
Sleepy time is here.
Night.
-
DR TCB you don't divide your birth year by 12 - you divide the age you are this year by 12......
Jrand, that is what I didn’t understand about your phraseology. I thought you were saying that if our birth year was divided by 12. We unstanderstand it all, now.
-
I am super stuffed from brunch today.
Brunch! I thought you were only allowed to have brunch on weekends! Or are you still stuffed from Sunday brunch?
-
Welcome back VinTek.
-
Now I'm listening to Puccini's La Boheme in a superb recording with Mirella Freni and Thomas Schippers conducting. Great sound and a wonderful performance.
They have two conductors?
-
Well, here I am. All dressed up and……
-
On, never mind. I am undressed and in bed.
-
Tomorrow (today for you in the East) marks 8 weeks since I fell down and went boom.
-
And there is no truth in the rumor that I fell down as a way of meeting the firemen across the street.
-
Tomorrow (today for you in the East) marks 8 weeks since I fell down and went boom.
Oh, my.
-
And there is no truth in the rumor that I fell down as a way of meeting the firemen across the street.
That was just the silver lining. ;)
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to leave work early and go to the first production meeting for The Bold, the Young and the Murdered.
-
It probably isn't the greatest script, but I'm sure that it'll be fun getting back into a theater!
-
I printed the script.
-
It's only 80 pages, so it wasn't too much.
-

I have one. But it's not working in the big boy desktop computer. There's something wrong with the USB ports in that its not giving it the proper power. It works fine in the laptop, which is why I have to go back and forth.
