Well, you've read the notes, the notes were birthed, and now it is time for you to post until the birthing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AVER!
-
Pretty exciting update about the new book! ;D
-
Good morning to everyone I hope everybody has a great weekend
-
And the word of the day is: AVER!
I learned what this word was when Sondheim used it Buddy’s Blues
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a terrible night. Bathroom breaks every 45 minutes, and I could not get to sleep until some time after midnight.
-
One dream had something to do with Babes in Toyland, but I cannot remember any more of it.
-
In another, new proofer ChasSmith was reading a large print edition of Dumas' Camille, and we talked about Flaubert's Madame Bovary.
-
DR JohnG, do you know which recording of Britten's folksong arrangements you heard?
-
Hello, all.
I can happily aver that today is Friday in the state of South Carolina.
I cannot aver what day it is where YOU are, but I work on the presumption that it is the same day.
-
I found this amusing photo on FB last night:
-
I have driven with cake before, I have.
I have also eaten cake while driving.
-
Let them ALL eat cake is what I say.
What do any of YOU say about that?
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I was at the store yesterday. I was only picking up half a dozen things I knew I'd want over the weekend. I passed the cake, and didn't even stop to look. And you know what? We have freezing rain out there today.
Let this be a cautionary tale to you all.
-
My dream had a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and it really only covered one interesting thing. Mostly, it was somewhat irritating, and as I think back upon it I think it was preventing me from getting solid rest. Or maybe I was dreaming that I wasn't getting solid rest. In the end, does it matter?
I'll answer that. No.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR elmore3003 - is this one of the known side effects of the radiation? Sorry.
-
I have never quite been the same since the surgery to pulverize some bladder stones. And the surgeon never once mentioned beforehand what some of the lasting effects might be.
-
DR TCB - some years back, I was eating vegan exclusively. Now I'm not so particular, but I do still try to eat healthily.
-
Congratulations to Hartley and family!
-
DR elmore3003 - is this one of the known side effects of the radiation? Sorry.
Sadly, yes, although I gather the radiation affects every patient differently. I see the radiologist after treatment each Wednesday so they can learn what it's doing to me.
-
The cats and I have begun watching the Mrs Bradley Mysteries again. Diana Rigg is perfect.
-
In two weeks I begin my employment at the World Wide Wicket Company
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR JohnG, do you know which recording of Britten's folksong arrangements you heard?
Britten: Our Hunting Fathers; Quatre Chansons Françaises; Folksongs; Sinfonietta, Op. 1 It’s on EMI Classics. Ian Bostridge and the Britten Sinfonia.
-
In two weeks I begin my employment at the World Wide Wicket Company
Do you have to do windows?
-
Congratulations to Hartley and family!
Welcome to the world, Maxwell.
-
Two!

Deadline vibes for DR singdaw.
-
Vibes for MR BK. I have found that the USPS is slow in delivering things nowadays.....my credit card payment that I mailed on January 15 has still not been received.
I guess it's time to go to auto pay - but.....I'm old.
-
I think I shall do a bit of shoveling this morning.....although I have to walk through a lot of s**w to get to my shovel.
-
Kitty cleanup, bed, basement trip all finished. Now I wait to hear from Access-a-Ride.
-
Everyone here is home today because businesses feared there was going to be freezing rain or sleet this morning. So far, it's just rain. But in the meantime, you know what this means, right?
Yep. It feels like a Saturday.
-
On This Day in 1983, the world lost Karen Carpenter.
-
The temperature has risen to 28 degrees. Party time!

Ha! I shoveled a path for the mail carrier. My sister Myrna messaged me to tell me that my nephew CJ and a friend will be by later today to do my driveway!
Very nice.
I also started Petey Cruiser since temps are going to drop to 1 or 2 degrees tonight.

With the subfreezing temperatures we've been having, and with the very light schedule I've had since the first of the year, I've been backing the car out of the garage and letting it run for fifteen minutes every couple of days. I'm just superstitious now about the battery, even though we have the as-yet-unused charger here...which is wonderful to remember. It's still sitting in a corner, and every couple of days when I pass by it I give the check-voltage button a push just to see that it's still charged. Which of course it is, but hey, I get to indulge in my little superstitions, right?
-
Soon I'll be driving like crazy to gigs here and there, and the little warmup runs will be history. But I believe in them. Oh yes I do.
-
Hi
-
I shoukd probably catch up
-
The past couple of weeks have been interesting
-
And I'm sure you all know the infamous curse
-
May you live in interesting times
-
Congratulations to the Haverty clan!
-
DR George I am glad you won't be going to your mother's today.
-
I have never quite been the same since the surgery to pulverize some bladder stones. And the surgeon never once mentioned beforehand what some of the lasting effects might be.
I didn't know there were possible side effects from that. I am sorry you have them.

Thanks for the update on this. I wonder if the company gifted them the new blender or they purchased it.
-
DR Vixmom, may your days be less interesting.
-
Good to see you, Vixmom. Looking forward to the interesting tale.

I didn't know there were possible side effects from that. I am sorry you have them.
I am curious how those side effects manifest themselves.

It's a darkly gray day here in Johnston SC today.
Alternating rains, as well.
So gloomy.
-
Hi
Hey!

Hello, DR vixmom! I've missed you!

I am home and very happy to be here.

Hi
Welcome back, Vixmom!
-
DR George I am glad you won't be going to your mother's today.
My mom's friends are too, I'm sure. ;)
-
But in a way not...my mom said that they don't like the way she keeps score! I don't know what could be the problem, but okay. ;D
-
I do expect to go back next week...hopefully.

I'm up, I'm up - I think I got three hours of sleep and then there were a few more hours of just being in bed like so much fish.

I saw our neighbor/friend at the gym today. He mentioned he was able to get some free N95 masks at Fred Meyer but Safeway didn't have any. From the gym we went to Safeway so I asked the pharmacy if they had any. They did. While Fred Meyer left them out for people to take, Safeway keeps them behind the counter and you need to ask for them.
They gave me three masks.
-
Good afternoon!

I know I'm harping on this, but this is a very GLOOMY day here.
It is SO DARK...I find myself leaving lights on throughout the house.

ICE.
We have ICE.
-
Not in the freezer, or in our drinks. Outside.
-
We'll be salting down the driveway tomorrow morning for sure, because there's no thawing coming our way the next few days.
-
What a strange day.
I think I've been feeling Mercury riding out of town on a rail. That much is good.
-
That little clip was QUITE SOMETHING, DR Jrand71! :)
-
Thanks for the vibes - I beat my work deadline! Thank goodness that only comes once per quarter.
-

I figured that. Please don't fall and break something.

For the past several years, new snowplows joining the Minnesota fleet are named by a public contest. I reported on some of the entries previously, but today the new winners were announced. They are, in no particular order:
Betty Whiteout
CTRL+(S)ALT+DEL
The Big Leplowski
Plowasaurus Rex
Scoop Dogg
Blizzard of Oz
No More Mr. Ice Guy
Edward Blizzardhands

Did you vote for any of those names?
-
I didn't vote, but I would have supported several if I had.
-
I am worried about bk, DR Jane, DR Ron Pulliam, DR elmore3003, and all who are not getting enough sleep!
-
You may not have had the shirts, DR Ron Pulliam, but did you at least get the hand movements down? :)

Aren't you sweet.

Hello, everyone.
-
Today was acupuncture, then I picked up some food at Julie's.
-
I noticed at the market today the cat food shelves were a bit on the empty side. Is anyone having a problem getting cat food?
-
Hello, everyone.
Hi.
-
Today was acupuncture, then I picked up some food at Julie's.
What did you get?
-
TOD:
I started watching HOPE STREET, a new-to-me British crime drama on Britbox. So far it's quite good. No blood and gore, no car chases, and the police behave humanely.
-
I had a terrible night. Bathroom breaks every 45 minutes, and I could not get to sleep until some time after midnight.
I'm so sorry you're going through all this.
-
Several years ago I wanted to pee all the time. The kosher acupuncturist, who also has a PhD in nutrition, suggested pumpkin seed extract. I tried the one by Life Extension (capsules) and it really helped.
-
I have never quite been the same since the surgery to pulverize some bladder stones. And the surgeon never once mentioned beforehand what some of the lasting effects might be.
They never do.
-
The cats and I have begun watching the Mrs Bradley Mysteries again. Diana Rigg is perfect.
I always liked that series. I thought Neil Dudgeon was particularly good as the driver.
-
Welcome, Baby Maxwell!
Do you have any pets? Do you like cherry coke?
We expect you to start posting ASAP!

I guess it's time to go to auto pay - but.....I'm old.
Autopay can be very convenient. Less to do is good, right?
-
DR George I am glad you won't be going to your mother's today.
I concur. No point in taking unnecessary risks.
-
What a strange day.
I think I've been feeling Mercury riding out of town on a rail. That much is good.
Mercury was still very present here yesterday. Perhaps it moves from East to West?

Today was acupuncture, then I picked up some food at Julie's.
What did you get?
In addition to my usual Italian salad, I asked Julie if she'd prepare Pasta Primavera. Some weeks ago I asked her about adding it to the menu. It turns out that it used to be on it -- I don't know why she took it off. She agreed, but today was the first time I've had hers. It was good, but there are others I prefer.

I hope the acupuncture helps, Jeanne.

Watching the original Suspiria, which I had never seen. It's amazing, even if it appears to have been filmed on a budget spent entirely on color. The dubbed voices are irritating. Joan Bennett is still wearing Hedy Lamarr's old hair. And Alida Valli thinks she's Ilsa, she wolf of the SS. And yet, it's very scary.
-
Jeanne, I am loving Safe Passage. I have about 100 pages left. Looking forward to finishing it.

Bedtime once again.
Once again, it is hard to recollect the day...either the day I just lived or the one that will follow.
-
G'night, all!
-
I'm up, I'm up - got in bed at six - so zonked - fell asleep and got up just before ten. I HATE doing that but I needed the extra four hours really bad. The problem with me and evening naps is I don't feel good when I wake up from them. I'll write some notes, shave so I don't have to do that in the morning, and then try to be back in bed by twelve-thirty.

I'm sorry to hear that you never fully recovered. Have you considered acupuncture? It helps with so many things. I hope you find improvement.

Ahh...another weekend is upon us!
-
I have no plans whatsoever.
-
Well, I'll probably (hopefully?) do some laundry.
-
I also have a couple of DVDs from the library that I really should watch.
