Well, you've read the notes, the notes were zonked, and now it is time for you to post until the zonked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TELLURIC!
-
Topic of the Day: Yes. Naps can be good...if I can find the time. ::)
-
And I also have been kind of discombobulated afterward, if it's a particularly long nap of if I completely fall asleep. I find that if I can lie down and keep my eyes closed and not have much noise, it's more helpful than completely falling asleep. But that's just me. :)
-
George, I read over yesterday’s notes three times and I still can’t find the good news about BK’s new book.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This morning the alarm rang, I got up and dressed, After a moment's thought, I went back to bed and woke 75 minutes later. I slept quite poorly last night, as usual these days.
-
Today and tomorrow I don't plan to leave the apartment. Today, I must work ion my taxes, and one of my team has drafted a proposal for this recording project that I need to look over.
-
I have memories of naps in school...or was it kindergarten only? Hmmm. I do remember all the kids being instructed to fold our arms on our desktops and to rest our heads. It probably lasted 15 to 20 minutes.
-
Another Saturday. Hooray.
The sky is starting to show blue instead of that dismal gray of yesterday.
-
I wish I had something new to say, but I had a nice night's sleep and can recall nothing unusual in the dreams/nightmare department.
Right now, geese have started honking and carrying on in the pond behind my house. There are better than a dozen of them floating by in a flotilla formation.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Trying not to get up.
-
TOD:
Naps, yay!
-
Good morning.
-
For fun...
-
TOD: I don't take naps. Unless I'm sick. I figure I'll know I have covid when I take a nap.
-
Good morning.
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
Good morning.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all.

TOD: Naps: YEA! I love naps. I would take one every day, if I could. But I only get to indulge on weekends.
We had an enforced nap time in Kindergarten. The person that remained the most still got selected to be the wake-up fairy as a reward.
-
I would love to be able to take naps more easily and more often than I do. I think the definition of a good nap is a power nap, which can’t be too short or too long. I remember falling into good naps years ago, and waking up feeling like gangbusters. Nowadays I can all too easily drop off while reading or watching something, like BK and others mention all the time. And sometimes that results in just the amount of snoozing I needed. But try to deliberately get a nap? Why is that so difficult now, damn it to HELL?
-
Enjoy your weekend off, DR Elmore!
-
Oh yeah...the grogginess after a nap that went too long is awful.
-
I like Zoe Caldwell, but I think I’ve only seen her in the Tarantino movies.
-
So who’s watched the opening ceremonies? Apologies if I’ve glossed over anyone talking about it.
HOW ABOUT THAT CANNED ETERNALLY LOOPING “WORLD’S FAVORITE THEMES FROM CLASSICAL MUSIC”??
-
Don’t you hate a William Tell Aida Beethoven Fifth Nutcracker hangover?
-
This really knocked me for a loop...
-
One more...
-
TWO!!
-
And to celebrate, I shall dance The Dance of the Sugar Plumb Fairy.
-
I am going to take the pre-tween boy on the corner for a hike around the park. He is so excited he showed up 15 minutes early, shivering. I sent him home to get a jacket, because for us it's chilly outside.
-
Good morning!

I didn't say good news. I said that it was a pretty exciting update, meaning (to me) that it's getting closer to the book being published. :)
-

I watched a little bit of it. ::)

It is 7 degrees here.
I don't think the s**w will be melting today. Temps in the low 30's tomorrow. When it gets to 45 - I'm going to sell.
I'm here all week, folks. Don't forget to tip your waiter!
-
I usually take naps by accident. I'm watching something on television and when I wake up, it's over.
-
Naps come more easily now than they used to.
I, too, find myself dozing off during a TV show. I usually wake up just as the program is ending.
-
I have been watching a few more Mike Curb Congregation videos on You Tube......they seem to all come from the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour.
I am mesmerized by - well I can't call it choreography - it's more like traffic direction - but everyone certainly is enthusiastic. I read some of the comments to find out about the folks in the group. I do have two of their LPs which are still fun to listen to.
Of course Mike (playing the organ) Curb went on to become Lt. Governor of California. He also did a lot of the music for Roger Corman's motorcycle films.....
I guess the saddest thing was the red-headed boy who seemed to be on speed or something.....in the late 1970's he tried to break up a fight between some folks at a McDonald's and got stabbed and killed.....that was a sobering thought......
-
I'm up, I'm up - just about seven hours of sleep.
-

We had an enforced nap time in Kindergarten. The person that remained the most still got selected to be the wake-up fairy as a reward.
And how many times were you dubbed a fairy? (Couldn’t resist. Just couldn’t.)
-
And to celebrate, I shall dance The Dance of the Sugar Plumb Fairy.
As we say in Texas, that boy’s a half-bubble off plumb.
-
You shouldn’t set me up so easily.
-
Waiting for the funeral to start. We practiced our bells and sounded good. I hope the performance goes as well.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Casting vibes for MR BK.
-
Performance vibes for DR JOHN G.
-
Lunch is done.
Hamburger, all the way.
French Fried Onion Rings.
From "the club".
Very tasty, and very filling.
-
Mail call was a bit disappointing.
A Gump's catalog and a notice from the VA of an upcoming appointment.
-
I am STILL WAITING for the CPAP mask upgrade with appropriate tubing.
Sigh.
-
It's a beauteous day out there, but it's a bit on the chilly side. It is 44 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Thus was it ever so...
-
Casting vibes for MR BK.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
Performance vibes for DR JOHN G.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
The funeral went well. Jim's son was supposed to have delivered a eulogy, but his wife did instead. And she kept it together throughout. She even had a few Lutheran/Pentecostal jokes about their respective backgrounds.

One more ...

Three!

A question for the literati here at HHW:
What event happens at the end of the book version of MY COUSIN RACHEL?
The 1953 film had a bridge collapse and the 2017 film had the victim riding a horse on unstable ground that plunged the victim into the water hundreds of feet below.
I much prefer the bridge....but I was wondering......
I don't know if this should be preceded by a SPOILER ALERT or not.
-
Haven’t read it. Sorry.
-
Any ideas what I should do with old copies of Show Music and The Sondheim Review? Neither is a complete set. I doubt I would make anything on eBay to cover the cost and trouble of mailing them.
-
Free to Good Home.
I'm sure they would be of great interest to the right person.
-
I think the people that made these clothes were perhaps the same people that made DR John G.'s noodles....
-
Back from a fun casting session - thirty-two people scheduled, eighteen showed up. It's just amazing to me. I believe all the ladies are cast save for our leading lady and one black gal, although that looks like it may be filled now. Guys, we still need a black guy and another white guy, preferably tallish and blonde. And our leading man. So, closer. We also went to eat and we figured out the schedule.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Bruce, if you slept 7 hours after a 4-hour evening nap then I think you did very well.
-
If I nap for 20-30 minutes in the afternoon I'm OK. But if I fall asleep for an hour or more I usually have trouble falling to sleep at night. I will say that 30 minutes in the afternoon seems to be worth at least an hour at night. I think it's a matter of not getting overtired.

-
Speaking of naps I could really use one now.
-
Jane, were you able to see the article on coping? (NYTimes)
-
TTFN.
-
A busy afternoon here.
Rearranged a bookshelf, including putting in books I had stacked hither, thither and over yonder.
Had a nice phone chat with a friend.
All in all...a satisfactory Saturday.
-
More fun...
-
And....YUCK...but, yes, I used those many times in the distant past. Always pulled the towel part down to expose fresh towel, but you still were touching previously touched towel.
-
I am going to take the pre-tween boy on the corner for a hike around the park. He is so excited he showed up 15 minutes early, shivering. I sent him home to get a jacket, because for us it's chilly outside.
That is soooo cute. I hope you both had fun.
-
DR Laura how big is the park?

The '53 film is accurate.

Jane, were you able to see the article on coping? (NYTimes)
Nope. We no longer have a subscription to the NYTimes. I would have to pay for one in order to read it.
-
More fun...
Those do still exist, though I doubt there as many as there were before covid.
-
I haven't had a nap in a long time. More than 20 minutes and made it too difficult to sleep at night.
-
I remember nap time in kindergarten.
-
I took Craig to look at a pre-school. After seeing the day included a nap time he insisted on leaving never to return :))
-
'night
-
Looks like FOUR is nigh.
-
Nigh is FOUR.
-
Lucky #99.
-
FOUR!!!!
-
I would rather have wet hands than use one of those old-fangled contraptions.
-
:)
-
Is that all there is to scoring film music? I suspect not.
-
Powered through today WITHOUT a nap. Hope that means I'll sleep well tonight.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I think the people that made these clothes were perhaps the same people that made DR John G.'s noodles....
I love it!
-
Dancing tonight was mostly class, but the few of worked on a few new cha-cha steps, which I haven't danced in a long time. It was actually a lot of fun.
-
None of the steps were particularly hard, but they were flashy. That makes them seem hard. It was also great for the women there to pick them up quickly. It helps with their self-confidence.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
I did a little cleaning today, which was long overdue.
-
I have been redoing the bar area, which has been a disorganized mess. You might say a drunk had organized it, but it was more neglect than anything.
-
How I've been able to find anything, I don't know.
-
I don't drink that much anymore, so mostly the bottles are for cooking.
-
Well, let's say this: I don't drink by myself. I'll have a little when I'm with friends.
-
While cleaning, I listened to a new book called Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez. I'm on the last part. It's better than I thought it was going to be.
-
Actually, it's not at all what I thought it was going to be. The beginning was hilarious, biting satire of the high-end wedding industry. But the author has much more on her mind, and she pulls it off beautifully. It is both funny and harrowing.
-
But I need to get to bed.
-
I'm meeting some folks for brunch tomorrow. They're visiting from Louisville and have been extremely good to Mom.
-
I hope we don't have to wait too long for a table. They wouldn't take a reservation.
-
I haven't been there before, it's a Jewish deli, and the word of mouth has been excellent. So, I'm looking forward to it.
-
Where is everyone tonight?
-
I hope y'all are having fun.
-
Sorry about the turnout for auditions, BK, but I'm glad you got some of the roles filled.
-
I really like the score for L.A. Now and Then quite a lot.
-
So, when is the production happening? I need to visit L.A., though I doubt it will be sooner than later.
-
I know I certainly don't want to see the lesbian-focused production of A Little Night Music that is being staged in L.A. these days.
-
Sadly Sondheim isn't here to react to such productions.
-
What next? Sweeney with a happy ending?
-
One more ...
-
Five!
-
Hello, 2 guests!
-
Good night, all.
-
I know, it'll be a production of Merrily played forward in time.
-
The Frogs cast with cats.
-
A Latin American Do I Hear a Mambo?
-
Morning Primose with plenty of sunshine.
-
I think it's the Macarena!
-
Bounce staged in a Cirque de Soleil three-ring circus.

I'd read that that had actually been done. ::)
-
And to celebrate, I shall dance The Dance of the Sugar Plumb Fairy.
I would have to do The Dance of the Sugar Plump Fairy!
-
I took Craig to look at a pre-school. After seeing the day included a nap time he insisted on leaving never to return :))
Was that recently?
-

Is the last part the part after Olga dies?

Is this the casting for LA THEN AND NOW? I guess I didn’t realize the show had a leading man and lady.
-
Well, I guess I shall take my toothache and go to bed.
-
Good night.
-
Well, I guess I shall take my toothache and go to bed.
Oh, no!
-
~~~Vibes for No More Toothache for Tom!!~~~
-
Today, I've been home all day and I really haven't done anything.
-
I didn't watch any TV.
-
I didn't do laundry.
-
I slept quite a bit...for some reason.
-
But, it's been a day, and tomorrow will also be a day.
-
I do need to do laundry, so that WILL happen. :)
-
My sister's boyfriend did stop by and drop off some more N95 masks for me.
-
He gave me three of them last weekend, but this time he gave me more...I didn't count how many.
-
They can be reused but should be kept in a paper bag for a few days in between uses.
-
I got some paper lunch sacks last weekend, so with these new masks, I'll be able to use a different mask for every day of the week for several weeks, at least!
-
And now...
