Well, you've read the notes, then notes beeped, and now it is time for you to post until the beeping cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IMPETUS!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Our super is really going to hell. The garbage/laundrty room remains a mess, but now he's screwing with the heat, and it was freezing in this apartment this morning. I preferred to stay under a pile of blankets rather than submigt myt body to the elements. So, the alarm rang at 6:00, but I refused to get up. After 30+ minutes of hearing Annabelle sneeze, Stella's jumping all over me,and my inability to get back to sleep, I got out of bed.

DR JohnG, Rebecca Luker does a lovely "Dream Dancing" on BK's recording of Cole Porter songs.
-
Tonight is the Academy Awards. I'll miss them.
-
I had been wondering about the Case of the Missing Covid Actor.
-
This is a recording budget day.
-
Good morning, all.

DR JohnG, Rebecca Luker does a lovely "Dream Dancing" on BK's recording of Cole Porter songs.
Yes, she does. Love that recording.
-
On Wednesday, after bells rehearsal, I set an alarm for 6 am Sunday, so I’d be up for practice. I also set a reminder. Alexa forgot both. I got up at 7:05 and managed to make practice at 7:30.
-
And sometimes it's "Y"
-
Good morning.
Struggling with Wordle this morning. Oof.
Must get ready for church, too.
Laters.
-
Sunday.....sweet Sunday.....
-
Sun is shining but temps only in the 30's.
-
The folks who looked at the house had some questions, but we have not received an offer as yet.
-
My brother says he "knows a guy" in California who will give us a full price offer.......I will believe that when it happens.
-
What is it with smoke alarms, anyway?
Mine have also gone BEEP...and always when I was in bed fast asleep.
They do not go BEEP during the day or early evening.
They must be programmed to go BEEP when they sense we are sleeping.
-
My brother says he "knows a guy" in California who will give us a full price offer.......I will believe that when it happens.
If that guy wants to leave California and has a house there that he is selling or has sold, offering you full price would be a bargain for him.
People who sell in California, generally do very well moving east (or to the midwest) because the money they get for their homes there can buy several homes out here.
-
I have to get a new container for Barnum's bird seed.....a mouse ate through the plastic and has been spreading it all over the pantry shelf.
I will have to get a trap tomorrow to catch the critter.....I can't figure out how the ones I have work, they catch won't click where it should. So there you are.
-
Wordle has been solved. My orisons were answered.
-
When church is over, I shall stop at 3rd Generation and get my usual fried chicken and assorted veggies.
I shall then return and fire up my computer for my Sunday Zoom chat.
-
For some reason, whenever I get cleaned up and dressed, I have the impetus to get things done.
Sadly, that impetus is generally a state of mind rather than an end result.
-
Hello....there's a new Broadway Radio Show up on the site for your listening pleasure. I chat with writers/actors Van Hughes and Nick Blaemire about their musical SPACE DOGS. It's a great conversation and you'll hear several tracks from the cast recording.
check it out: http://www.haineshisway.com/the-broadway-radio-show-2/

Good afternoon, all.
-
I had to get up and out of here early to play a church service, and now I am back.
-
And boy, is it cold. We're having that cold spell, too, and I had flurries driving back home just now. It's also dropping into sub-freezing territory again tonight.
-
I don't mind. I've actually got a couple of wonderful free days to sit at home. Well, two days exactly. At noon Tuesday I head down to Norwalk to sit in on the first band rehearsal for Cinderella. And again on Thursday. But that's my week. I can spend time catching up on things, and by the end of the week I'll have the keyboard programming to load in and begin practicing.
-
From John:
My plumbago didn't die after all. It's coming back from the roots.
I am happy for you.
-
I tend not to water indoor plants which explains why they never last long.
-
DR TCB I hope the Zheng Gu Shui helps your ankle.
-
The story of putting this revival together should be the centerpiece chapter in BK's next memoir.
-
Because it's never too early to hope for a nice April, I offer up some photographic evidence to appease the gods.

I have dealt with mouse invasions, and never once did they eat through plastic. Good luck you only have one mouse.

The basic set for Chicago.
(Ignore the table down in front. It was set up for some unrelated function and wasn't intrusive at all.)
-
The band was in a "sunken" section of the set upstage, with a few of the players seated higher.
You can kind of see our cutout pit in this shot.
-
My cell.
-
And finally, the band.
A couple more pieces would have been perfect, but this group made a good sound.
-
It is freezing in this apartment.

Good morning.
Struggling with Wordle this morning. Oof.

Laters.
I know! I can't believe that I was able to get today's Wordle at all. But I got it on the 6th and final try. :)

Nice!

~~~STRONGEST MOST EXCELLENT VIBES & XYLOPHONES THAT BK & COMPANY MAKE IT THROUGH UNSCATHED~~~!!!!!!!!!!
-
Great pictures, ChasSmith!
-
And now, I must be off to usher for Murder for Two.
Until later!
-
Zoom chat is over.
Marshall Harvey and Henry Stanny and I discussed BK's travails with COVID-impacted performers, etc. They are going to attend!
-
For dinner I'm having Chinese mixed vegetables and bean curd. Last night it was shrimps and scallops in garlic sauce. Yum!
-
Guess who!
Good morning.
Struggling with Wordle this morning. Oof.
First time I missed Wordle in a while. I had a word that rhymed with today's word in slot number 6.
Must get ready for church, too.
Laters.
I know! I can't believe that I was able to get today's Wordle at all. But I got it on the 6th and final try. :)
Enjoyed the photos, DR ChasSmith.
-
Listening to Sondheim Unplugged, Vol. 2. The sound is better on this set, and the performances are generally better, too. Though there are still some questionable choices of performers.
-
From John:
My plumbago didn't die after all. It's coming back from the roots.
I am happy for you.
And I found a relative today I didn’t know: dwarf plumbago.
-
I'm up, I'm up - barely. Maybe five hours of sleep. Had an upset tummy first, slept a couple of hours, woke up and had a horrific allergy attack, this despite taking a pill a couple of hours before bed. I had no choice but to take another even though the first one was supposedly working. The other one finally kicked in an hour later and I got back in bed until ten. Alarm was set for one and I fell asleep again until two - I'm groggy, stuffed up, and waiting for the food I ordered for today - a sandwich, which won't be here for another forty minutes or so.
-
Doesn't sound like much of a "me" day so far, bk. :-X
-
But at least we can get off this darned page.
-
Without too much effort.
-
THREE!!!
-
Eating the sandwich and remembering when our Annual Oscar Bash was the most exciting day of the year. There was nothing like it and we had a full house. It was fun, funny, irreverent. How far the Oscars have fallen since then, so much so that I didn't even remember today was the day. So, please do post winners and other stuff as I don't get regular channels. What time do they start?
-
Mine is supposed to arrive on Thursday.
-
Murder for Two is over and I'm heading home.
-
I'll watch The Oscar's and post what I can.
-
I'll be doing a little work on my work laptop, but I'll be able comment on the show.
-
I was not able to break my record of sleeping four nights in a row. Last night, what I had hoped to be the fifth night of sleep, I woke at 3:00 and never fell back to sleep.
Darn. :-\
-
AARRGGHH!! I have to go to my sister's. Can't watch or post right now. >:(
Yes, and now I am trying not to fall asleep. It was lovely feeling alert & energetic for those few days.
No. Just...no.
-
Best supporting actor: Troy Kotsur
-
I'm at a loss here - not ONE person (save for George, finally) is watching the damn Oscars and can't comment? Really? We have surely hit rock bottom and will never again soon be the most popular site on all the Internet. And you know where exactly what used to happen here is happening? Do you know? Facebook. Exactly the same. I gotta tell you.
-
International Feature Film: Drive My Car (Japan)
-
Reba is singing one of the nominated songs. I forget the movie, but the song was written by Diane Warren.
-
And still on page three. We'll be lucky to get to page five.
-
Live Action Short Film: The Long Goodbye
-
I guess if they weren't ruining the Oscarcast more and more as the years go by we might be more popular with the populace.
-
And still on page three. We'll be lucky to get to page five.
Hopefully, Tom will show up at some point.
-
Some of the dresses I've seen are beyond ludicrous, especially the trend of the musical note boobs look.
-
Some people call it the spatula look.
-
I see quarter notes.
-
In an ordinary year, I might even get to a new plateau tonight, but that won't be happening.
-
Best Costume Design: Cruella
-
From John:
My plumbago didn't die after all. It's coming back from the roots.
I am happy for you.
And I found a relative today I didn’t know: dwarf plumbago.
Did you buy one?
I bought two.
-
Thanks for the updates.
-
Four!
-
Since I don't watch TV, I haven't seen a second of it so far.
-
And now, the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno."
-
Instead, I went to a new restaurant called Allora that a friend of mine has opened with Amalfi Coast food.
-
Robbie Nowlin had been one of our most promising chefs, and he left San Antonio to go work for the French Laundry, then some chichi place in LA. He's now back in town, and we're luck to have him.
-
He saw me come in and came up to start talking. The reservation had been under Pam's name since she made it and since she was the birthday girl.
-
Pretty soon dishes just started appearing from the kitchen. We had ordered a good deal, but plate after incredible plate kept coming out.
-
Probably the best pasta I've eaten outside Italy. An outstanding Caesar salad. A farro salad. Bruschetta topped with burrata and prosciutto. Flounder crudo. These were all things we hadn't ordered.
-
Gratuitous post 99!
-
I doubt I will check my blood sugar tomorrow.
-
I also have a refrigerator full of leftovers.
-
I doubt I will check my blood sugar tomorrow.
I didn't check mine this morning. ::)
-
Best Original Screenplay: Kenneth Branagh for Belfast
-
Best Adapted Screenplay: Siân Heder for Coda
-
Have they announced documentary yet?
-
Yay for Coda, the little movie that could.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Kristen Stewart's outfit was my favorite fashion faux pas of the night.
-
We Don't Talk About Bruno wasn't even nominated.
-
Perhaps they got their outfits mixed up.
-
Billie Eilish and Finneas perform the next Best Original Song nominee: "No Time To Die."
-
We Don't Talk About Bruno wasn't even nominated.
:o Then why perform it??
-
Dune has won a raft of awards, which doesn't make much sense given how dull and visually unappealing it was, at least IMO.
-
We Don't Talk About Bruno wasn't even nominated.
:o Then why perform it??
Because it was a hit, and the rest of the nominees weren't.
-
Film Editing: Dune
-
Chris Rock, in his intro to the next category, made fun of Will Smith, who came up on stage and pretended to smack Chris, and yelled something, but the sound was cut!
-
Best Documentary: Summer of Soul
-
Who will the In Memoriam segment forget this year?
-
Best Documentary: Summer of Soul
Yay!
-
And now, a Godfather trilogy tribute.
-
And now, a Godfather trilogy tribute.
Yeah, because a 50-year-old film is what the young audience really wants to see.
-
next!
-
In Memoriam.
-
Is Buster Keaton nominated for anything?
-
I'm certainly enjoying Camera Man. I've gotten more than halfway through in two days.
-
Production Design: Dune
-
Best Original Song: "No Time to Die" by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell from No Time to Die
-
Best Original Song: "No Time to Die" by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell from No Time to Die
No surprise there.
-
I didn't know that Billie and Finneas were sister and brother.
-
What other siblings have won? Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Haviland. Any others?
-
Best Director: Jane Campion, The Power of the Dog
-
The Coen Brothers, of course.
-
Shirley and Warren.
-
James and William Goldman.
-
The Sherman Brothers.
-
Ben and Casey Affleck. I'm sure I'm missing others.
-
Lead Actor: Will Smith
-
Lead Actor: Will Smith
Best actor to punch out a presenter.
-
Smith and Rock have been doing this "thing" for years - many vids on YouTube from five and six years ago. Everyone thinks it was real. Did Smith say anything about it in his speech?
-
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is going to be a part of a production of Into the Woods:
He yelled something from the audience afterward, but they cut the sound, so I have no idea what was actually said.
That's cool.
Best Make-up and Hairstyling: The Eyes of Tammy Faye
-
Next up, Lead Actress.
So, the show will come in at under three hours?
-
Jessica Chastain
-
So, the show will come in at under three hours?
Nope...it started at 5:00.
-
Jessica Chastain
Meh.
-
Six!
-
Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli are presenting.
-
Best picture: In the Good Old Summertime
-
Best Movie: Coda
-
I'm not surprised.
-
But I am going to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, John.
-
So a friend of mine sent me an Instagram link to an Asian broadcast of the Oscars that didn't silence the audio between Will Smith and Chris Rock. It sounds like Chris crossed a line. If anyone wants to hear it (it's after Chris' "joke"), here it is:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cboeozlgm3a/ (https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cboeozlgm3a/)
-
And you don't need the Instagram app to see the video.
-
I did a few spot checks on the Oscars just to see if they were getting to the necrology.
And then I watched the horrendous mess. Whatever possessed anyone to think it would a good idea to have a line of dancers doing whatever that dance was while remembering the dead?
And WHY were there special moments for just a few folks? Betty White was a much-beloved TV STAR...NOT a movie star! And Ivan Reitman? Over some of the other highly notables? Gimmeabreak.
-
I've been touting CODA, as you all know, for months, long before anyone even knew what it was - here, on Facebook, castigating SAG members for not even bothering to watch it - which they weren't - but eventually all of us who were first responders, got the word out, and then it became the little movie that could.
-
Has either Smith or Rock or anyone from the Academy said anything?
-
So, if it started at five, this "streamlined" Oscars came in at three and a half hours?
-
Having another sandwich. One for lunch, one for dinner - that's kind of normal.
-
I'm having some low-carb enchiladas to which I added extra cheese...pretty darn tasty.
-
Smith and Rock have been doing this "thing" for years - many vids on YouTube from five and six years ago. Everyone thinks it was real. Did Smith say anything about it in his speech?
He yelled something from the audience afterward, but they cut the sound, so I have no idea what was actually said.
Will said, ”Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
-
Will apologized to the Academy and to all the nominees. No apology to Chris.
-
Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli are presenting.
How very sad to see Liza. Who thought that was a good idea?
-
I hardly think the G.I. Jane joke deserved a smack in the mouth.
-
Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli are presenting.
How very sad to see Liza. Who thought that was a good idea?
I know. It's also seemed like they didn't even have a rehearsal for her.
-
Or, she couldn’t remember.
She looks like she has Parkinson’s Disease. Often, that disease goes hand in hand with Alzheimer’s.
Oh, no. :(
-
I thought it was interesting that Jessica Chastain and her party and Wii Smith and his party both seemed toh have seating that was level with the stage. Both winners basically stepped right onto the stage
-
I know that Denzel had a seat way in the back of the house.
-
I thought it was interesting that Jessica Chastain and her party and Wii Smith and his party both seemed toh have seating that was level with the stage. Both winners basically stepped right onto the stage
I think that it's planned.
-
And since we're so close...
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
Supposedly only the accounting firm knows the winners before they are announced on the air, but I wonder.
