Well, you've read the notes, the notes were literally non-literal, and now it is time for you to post until the non-literal cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SALIENT!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I spent too much time this morning getting the TV running, but a lovely young lady from Spectrum helped me, and all is good now.
-
I must go down now and put the laundry into the washers.
-
Last night we watched Episode 5 of Season 22 of Midsomer Murders. Someone is killing actors in the Midsomer Mummers' production of "The Pirates of Penzance." It was a lot of fun.
-
Saturday morning I went to what was advertised as a Q&A with a local congressman who is running in the primary against our current governor in a bid to be the candidate for his party in the November election
-
Turned out to be held in a union hall, I was one of a handful that was not a member of said union
-
There were no Q’s and less A’s
-
Just general rah rah and pleas for campaign volunteers
-
it was a lovely day and a nice drive though
-
Then I went shopping for some stuff we needed
-
Also stopped in the local 5 below
-
Where I bought some things that were not needed
-
But which caught my fancy
-
Good morning, all.
-
Sounds boring as rah rah, Vixmom.
-
I’m headed back to the office today. First time in more than two years.
-
Vixdad had lunch plans with a friend so I came home and made myself lunch
-
I’m more looking forward to the river parade tonight.
-
Two slices of Toasted brioche bread spread with guacamole and topped by perfectly cooked easy over eggs, seasoned with Penzey’s Sunny Paris
-
Which was lovely
-
Then I sat down in the recliner to watch the tee vee machine
-
But instead was overcome by Morpheus
-
I woke from my unexpected nap to discover Vixdad in his recliner wondering about dinner
-
DR CHAS SMITH we succeeded in setting up and cleaning the barn and did not set fire to it....which is a good thing.
It was even sort of a nice meeting.
-
We decided to watch an episode or two of The Expanse first while we mulled over the situation
-
I am waiting for the Comcast man who is bringing me a new cable box......he is one minute late.
-
I shall have to think about the TOD.
-
( we have been streaming it and are now midway through season 5)
-
We decided finally that instead of eating the rest of the roast chicken in the refrigerator we would go out for a meal
-
We agreed on a crepe place we enjoy about 20 minutes drive away
-
Vixdad offered to drive in his Altima
-
We arrived to find the small restaurant ( official posted capacity limited is 20 persons) empty except for the three staff
-
But they were busy preparing phone and internet orders and a number of grub hub and the like delivery folk kept popping in to pick stuff up
-
Vixdad had the thanksgiving crepe
-
Turkey, stuffing,cranberries and gravy in the crepe, served with a side salad
-
I opted for the Baja chicken crepe
-
Chicken, spinach, roasted red peppers and Baja sauce in a crepe and substituted the excellent in house made tomato basil soup fin place of salad
-
We both had decaf hazelnut lattes
-
Then we drive home sated and content
-
Listening to Joni Mitchell
-
About 6 blocks from home we were hit by a literal truck….well SUV
-
Driven by a 17 year old boy
-
Who apparently was too excited about his evening plans with his friend to remember that he was supposed to stop at the stop sign
-
Good morning to everyone.
-
He hit us broadside in the midway in the front passenger door and as both vehicles continued moving for a bit scraped along the whole right side of the car to the trunk
-
Fortunately neither vehicle was traveling at excessive speed and other than aches and pains and feeling a bit rattled no one sustained any serious injury
-
Except of course both cars
-
Caught the Sondheim tribute on the Grammy awards. I thought the arrangements of the songs were beautiful and the songs were sung beautifully
-
And I suspect the boy when he had to explain things to his folks
-
Since it was his moms car
-
And insurance
-
OMG, DR vixmom!
-
The laundry is in th washers.
-
While we waited for the police to arrive to write up a report we asked if he wanted to call his folks ( he was likewise only blocks from home)
-
He vehemently declined
-
We suspected he planned to carry on with his evening plans and not reveal the incident to his folks until morning
-
Since he very likely will not be driving moms SUV again in the near future
-
But to his credit he was very polite and apologetic
-
Well I must get dressed and out the door for work
-
Laters
-
Good morning, all.
-
I KNEW vixmom’s posts were leading up to a story. I just KNEW it. :)
And it did not disappoint.
-
Glad, of course, that everyone is all right.
Well, we don’t know about the kid’s quality of life at this point. :)
I so often wonder how any parent deals with this very scenario, when their kid as a new driver so completely blows it. Well, not completely, because we all know that sometimes real tragedies result. It’s almost too much to think about.
-
I’ve been hit a few times by other [LITERAL] drivers, with harm done only to the vehicles. Each time, I called the other person’s insurance company myself to report it, and had no problem getting them to jump right in and take care of everything so that my own insurance never had to be involved.
-
Today, of course, is Monday, and for me it must be a productive one.
First on the agenda is taking a couple of hours, hopefully not too much more than that, to run through the keyboard programming just received for Cinderella, and send back a list of things that need a second look by the programmers. This programming is new, and they did a rush job on it for us, and these always need some vetting.
Then, a couple of hours must be spent on one area of the hill out back, getting rid of brambles and little junk trees that are still small enough to be cut down by hand. The next few days could be rainy, and we don’t want the April showers to bring May weeds and other nasty growth any faster than necessary.
Later, trash and recycling must be assembled and taken down to the road. And so it goes.
-
Finally, tonight is 9-1-1 night, our one planned TV night of the week these days.
Hot snacks will be consumed.
-
And that’s about it from me for a while. Cheers, and vibes for all.
-
I hope there’s no aftermath, Vixmom. Glad it wasn’t worse.
-
The office is deserted. I’ve seen two people.
-
The air is not to my liking, though. I will leave my mask on.
-
It is after 10 a.m. here in Johnston SC.
The sun is in its full glory, the sky is blue, the birds are chirping wildly.
All-in-all, one might surmise that spring has finally sprung.
-
This week, golfers around the world will have their eyes turned toward Augusta GA and The Masters tournament.
My town is no less excited that anyone else. The Masters brings a lot of business to our County, and even here. We are less than 30 miles from all the action, and thousands show up and look for accommodations. Folks around here lease their homes and move to their summer houses if they have them.
-
I have no idea what this week will bring my way, except the painter who bid on painting the trim all around my house will start at some point this week. He is bringing his ladders and other gear over tomorrow, and then he will get his permit to work on my house. Yes, they must do that if they run a business. It costs him about $10 for said permit.
-
I really need to get myself into an orderly routine of some sort.
i know today is Monday, but that is because yesterday was Sunday.
Truly, I sometimes have to ask my Amazon Echo unit what day it is.
While that's not a seriously bad thing, I think mental awareness of "when" it is ought to be the norm.
Sigh.
-
Oh, yes! I often feel just like THIS!
-
TOD:
Only one film comes to mind when I think of a sequel being better than the original: Godfather II is that film. One hundred percent better, IMO. Have never been a fan of The Godfather, but I also cannot resist watching if its playing. I would never deliberately put in my Blu ray player. But I always look forward to part 2. The entire back story with DeNiro is brilliant.
-
OMG what a story DR VIXMOM. I was lulled into a false sense of security thinking about the crepes.....and WHAM!
I am glad everyone is okay, but I am sorry about the VIXDAD's locomotor machine.....it's always a chore....to get things fixed.
-
I don't do horror films, so I cannot speak to the innumerable sequels to Halloween and the Nightmare on Elm films.
-
The Smart Car did well yesterday on the trip to Greencastle - so it will be nice to drive it on those sunny days.
Rainy days will belong to the PT Cruiser.
-
Continued vibes for DR ELMORE and his project.
-
Booking flight vibes for MR BK.
-
I have just broiled two steaks and now I am baking some biscuits.
-
Oh yes! I really loved Demetrius and the Gladiators as a sequel to The Robe. Didn't think it was better than, and don't think it's worse than. It's just not based on a published novel, so it's original and fun, too.
-
Jack, what on earth will you do with TWO steaks? Are you cooking for a guest, or will you have the second steak later?
-
Fortunately neither vehicle was traveling at excessive speed and other than aches and pains and feeling a bit rattled no one sustained any serious injury
I suspect you will have some delayed aches and pains.
-
LOL DR RON PULLIAM with me my cooking is always now and later.....so I will probably have steak until at least Wednesday.....and maybe even a steak sandwich.
-
The Comcast Technician was most good looking and efficient. He has been at my house before - although he didn't remember.
I let him go about his bees wax - and about 30 minutes later, I had a cable box and a remote that I can talk to. It is not the highest of technology though, the first thing I said into it is: "Wash my car."
And absolutely nothing happened - so it certainly hasn't been perfected yet.

Ah-hah!

-
The laundry is finished and waiting to be put away.
-
You haven’t trained Stella to put away the laundry for you, Elmore?
-
They still haven’t worked out my new laptop problems at work. I don’t get it.
-
From DR TCB:
One of my sister’s dogs has to have a spoonful of pumpkin every day in his food.
As do many dogs.
-
And I suspect the boy when he had to explain things to his folks
I am sure.
-
He vehemently declined
;D
-
But to his credit he was very polite and apologetic
And had insurance.

I so often wonder how any parent deals with this very scenario, when their kid as a new driver so completely blows it. Well, not completely, because we all know that sometimes real tragedies result. It’s almost too much to think about.
And when they get in an accident due to their carelessness it reminds you how scared you are they are driving.
-

Wow, I have never lived where painters were required to get a license.
-
DR Vixmom, vibes your aches and pains do not get much worse before they go away.
-
Vibes the car repair is quick and parts are easily accessible.
-
Good afternoon, friends.
-
So very sorry to hear about the accident, DR vixmom - on TOP of all the trouble you had with the bursting pipes previously. :(
-
Glad you weren't hurt, and ~~~VIBES~~~ that nothing else crops up.
-
Doggie Daycare is really into enrichment activities these days.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I’m headed back to the office today. First time in more than two years.
Wow! Hope it all works out, John!
-
He hit us broadside in the midway in the front passenger door and as both vehicles continued moving for a bit scraped along the whole right side of the car to the trunk
Oh, my goodness! :o
-
Fortunately neither vehicle was traveling at excessive speed and other than aches and pains and feeling a bit rattled no one sustained any serious injury
That's good, but your car! :(
-
Not a lot of people chose Monday for their office day. So it’s fairly empty. And I’m glad.
-

What?? File a PayPal Dispute post haste! >:(

Good choice then.

~~~Ditto!!~~~
~~~Ditto, Two!!~~~

I follow a Facebook group called Window with a view.
-
I found the following post very interesting.
-
"For 7 years I've lived on the closed set for The Walking Dead television show and because of a non-diclosure statement, I've never been able to post any pictures from my windows. The show wrapped last week and the cleanup of our neighborhood started this morning. It looks so much better already! So, here's the view from my window.
— in Alexandria Safe-Zone."
-
Has anyone watched The Walking Dead? We haven't.
-
I have not, DR Jane. I also don't watch horror movies.
-
Nikki Renee Daniels was Broadway’s first Black Bobbi in Company when she went on as understudy. Her Being Alive is good. Maybe too mannered. But I like it. It builds nicely.

Five!

On This Day in 1850, Los Angeles (CA) was incorporated as an American city. The population at the time was 1,600. Today, the metro area population is 12,488,000.
-
Glad that your return to your office has been relatively painless, DR John G. I like working at home and would feel traumatized if told that I had to return.
-
I have not, DR Jane. I also don't watch horror movies.
Definitely don’t watch Raw.

Happy birthday, LA! Now and Then.
-
I watch them because of Keith, not my first choice-lol
-
It is very windy today. At least it hasn't rained yet.
-
Has anyone watched The Walking Dead? We haven't.
I haven't, either.

I dug out my original cast album and have it at work. :)

Well, this is interesting:
Disney to scrap all remakes beginning May 1, citing newly-discovered clause in Walt’s final directives (https://www.disneydining.com/disney-to-scrap-all-remakes-april-fools-beginning-may-1-citing-newly-discovered-clause-in-walts-directives-bb1/).

:o
-
It was originally posted on Friday! :))
-
Actually, that would not be bad thing at all!

Did you read to the end? This was from April 1st ;D
-
"Happy April Fools’ Day!"
-
DR JOHNG G is back at the office.....did you see your shadow?
-
It was originally posted on Friday! :))
You did notice the date :)
-
Actually, that would not be bad thing at all!
I agree.
-
We have our bank appointment for Wednesday to get the 24 Cashier's Checks for the first Gaping Maw Payout.....
I am printing the letters today since we at last have a date.
-
St Joseph is working on the house - I can only assume.
-
No hurry on that cashier's check, DR Jrand71. Take care of all the little ones first.
-
I am tempted to buy this pillow for myself and a few others here on this site.

I will confess that the first time I read it, I just glanced through it and didn't see that. Then I actually read the article and realized that it was a joke.

I wish!
-
Your day will come, George.
-
Naps sort of sneak up on you in your dotage.
-
I went to my chiropractor this afternoon.
I absolutely had to.
-
I had an incident last Thursday that did not get better.
-
I was at the post office and lifted my left leg to climb the steps. When I raised my right leg, my left leg buckled under me.
I went down in slow motion onto a step.
-
Page 6
-
At any rate, my left leg was suddenly sore and weak, although I could walk well enough as long as I led with my right leg and didn't try to support my body weight on my left. I endured it through the weekend and decided today I had to consult my chiropractor.
He knew exactly what it was and made an adjustment to my right pelvis. which he said was misaligned. I was told to take it easy and not to walk too much.
I can do that.
-
I treated myself to a chocolate Frosty by stopping at Wendy's on my way home.
-
Hope that situation is under control, DR Ron Pulliam. That's no fun.
-
I just watched a video comparing a $5,000 cello, a $180,000 cello, and a $1 million dollar cello. The difference between the first 2 was vast, but I couldn't hear an appreciable difference between the 2 more expensive ones.
-

One more step taken care of.
-
St Joseph is working on the house - I can only assume.
Vibes it won't be much longer.
-
I am tempted to buy this pillow for myself and a few others here on this site.
I wish it was appropriate for me.

Naps sort of sneak up on you in your dotage.
I was far better at naps when I was younger, and I mean a younger adult.
-
I had an incident last Thursday that did not get better.
I am sorry.
-

I went down in slow motion onto a step.
Oh, no! :o
-
DR Vixmom glad that you are okay. That is crazy!
-
It is very windy today. At least it hasn't rained yet.
Second walk of the day no rain, just a hail storm we didn't beat home.
-
I decided to go for a short after dinner walk even though it was raining. It ended up being shorter than I expected. It is hard enough walking with the wind working hard to tip you over, even worse when the rain is blowing in your face so you can't see ;D
-
I just watched a video comparing a $5,000 cello, a $180,000 cello, and a $1 million dollar cello. The difference between the first 2 was vast, but I couldn't hear an appreciable difference between the 2 more expensive ones.
I wonder if the sound is better in the proper setting and sound system.
-
I'm sitting in my car waiting for my Covid test to show its results.
-
Before I left work, Tom texted me that his power went out!
-
Here in Centralia, it's half cloudy and half blue skies.
-
The lights at my work were blinking a bit before I left, so hopefully I didn't (or won't) lose power at my house, which is less than a mile away from my work.
-
And now, it's rehearsal time!
-
May Tom's power return super fast, and George not lose power at all.
-
'night
-
Hope you have a great rehearsal, DR George.
-
~~~POWER VIBES~~~ for DR TCB!!!!!!!!
-
I love that whenever DR vixmom has one of her stories, we result in a high page count for the day.
But I wish it were under better circumstances.
-
We're closing in on seven.
-
Just one more...
-
SEVEN?
-
SEVEN!
-
DR TCB may not be able to post later.
-
Good night, friends.
-
May Tom's power return super fast, and George not lose power at all.
Thanks, Jane!
-
Hope you have a great rehearsal, DR George.
Thanks, Singdaw! It's going pretty well, so far. We're still learning music.
-
~~~POWER VIBES~~~ for DR TCB!!!!!!!!
~~~DITTO!!~~~
-
I love that whenever DR vixmom has one of her stories, we result in a high page count for the day.
But I wish it were under better circumstances.
Ditto. :-\
-
SEVEN?
SEVEN!
Hoo and Ray! ;D
-
Power vibes for TCB!
-
The River Parade was fun. We walked by the floats, then went to dinner.
-
One float got stuck. A duck watched interestedly.
-
When the float got loose, it floated too close to the duck for him to remain interested.
-
A barbecue float.
-
TOD:
I agree with Ron on The Godfather movies.
-
TOD 2:
Road Warrior was better than Mad Max
Hellboy 2 was better than the first
Evil Dead 2 rules
Toy Story 2 really surpassed the fine first film
And, well, Hamlet 2, what can I say?
-
Good night, all.
-
Hope that situation is under control, DR Ron Pulliam. That's no fun.
Yes, it seems to be fine now. I didn't get hurt or anything when I collapsed. It was surreal.
I was holding on to a railing as I went down, so it was slow and graceful, in a way. I choose to think it looked that way, at any rate.
-
I agree about Road Warrior! I do love all three of those Mad Max movies, though.
-
So very sorry to hear about the accident, DR vixmom - on TOP of all the trouble you had with the bursting pipes previously. :(
Thank you
As you can imagine Vixdad is overjoyed for the opportunity to interact with yet another claims agent
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
Vibes for Ron’s leg
-
Great pictures, John!
