Well, you've read the notes, the notes were no mein feat, and now it is time for you to post until the Chinese cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BENEVOLENT!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am not in a good mood this morning. I slept very poorly, I'm very irritated over the recording project and what was essentially a useless conference call, and I really do not want to go out today. I have an appointment to have my eyes checked this morning, but I am going to reschedule it.
-
Instead, I'm going to work on Joshie's scores and pray that property closing occurs sooner than later.
-
DR Jrand71, I am afraid my teaching you patience was not what it could have been. I wish you well with your closing. There's still a side of me that believes the Ohio property hasn't really sold.
-
Good morning to everyone hope you have a great day
-
Good morning
-
I slept poorly , I kept waking up thinking about the latest school shooting
-
The fact that I just had to type the word “latest” in front of “school shooting” is horrifying to me
-
Does having 7 relatives who work in schools, 3 relatives who attend schools, numerous friends who work in schools make me more sensitive to the matter?
-
Or maybe I’m just opposed to people being shot in schools, supermarkets, subways, bedrooms…
-
I’m going to go Wordle , and try and take my mind off it for a moment
-
I hear you, DR vixmom.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am sad today. Sad for our nation.
-
Woke last night to the sound of thunder, as my friend Bob Seger would say.
-
But I don’t know if there was any rain.

It finally beat me

A few thoughts this morning (thanks to better and quicker minds than mine last night):
NEWS FLASH:
"Well-regulated militia opens fire in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde TX! Thoughts and prayers are being rushed to the scene!"
"Let's take a moment to honor the sacrifice of our brave school children who lay down their lives to protect our right to bear arms."
"Life begins at conception and ends in a school shooting." -- The Republican Party
-
I am sad today. Sad for our nation.
I am not sad. I am goddamned fucking angry. Just now, on CBS Mornings, Texas Republican congressman Tony Gonzales danced around Gayle King's questions about setting and enforcing gun laws. "This is not the time for debate," the asshole said.
Well, that's one more truckload of NRA-Republican prayers and sympathies bullshit. I want their damned heads to roll in the streets and to see their bodies swept up with the other refuse. May all those heartless gun-totin' idiots rtot in hell,

This is 10-year-old Amerie Jo Garza. This photo was taken yesterday morning, as she was awarded the Honor Roll, hours before she died. Her grandmother told reporters that Amerie "was shot and killed for trying to call 911, she died a hero trying to get help for her and her fellow classmates." Amerie was “super-outgoing” and a “teacher’s pet” who liked doing well in school, added her grandmother. Rest in Peace, young Amerie

Here is a gofundme link if anyone wants to make a contribution. It’s really heartbreaking that the group behind this has been doing this now for 20 years.

I had very interesting dreams last night, none I plan on detailing herein. Interesting to me because I have no idea where they came from.
-
It's a gray day here. Temps in upper 60s right now, with a high of 84 predicted.
Not supposed to rain "today"! Actually, this week is supposed to provide swarms of thunderstorms.
On Monday, midday seemed like dusk with black clouds and then sheets of rain blowing sideways for about half an hour. Then the sun came out. And then the sky blackened again and another sideways rain blew through.
I guess it's better to get rain than not.

My question for ASK BK DAY:
What are your favorite grown up performances of Miss Patty Duke?
-
I can’t focus.
-
No postings in quite a while.
-
I tried Arby’s butger on the hope it would be better than the one I had last night. It was better, but the texture was so rubbery that it squeaked.
-
The fact that I just had to type the word “latest” in front of “school shooting” is horrifying to me
Alone they are both horrifying, to have to combine them is heartbreaking.
-
Does having 7 relatives who work in schools, 3 relatives who attend schools, numerous friends who work in schools make me more sensitive to the matter?
Not more sensitive but more afraid. I know I am more afraid for Craig.

I just listened to the new revival cast recording of Assassins. Probably wasn't the best thing to listen to at this time. ::)

My question for ASK BK DAY:
What are your favorite grown up performances of Miss Patty Duke?
I like all her adult performances, but let's face it - Valley of the Dolls is iconic and the most entertaining.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Yes....yes.....I agree....
I watched her television show each week....and after that, if she was in it, I watched or paid to see it.....
I even bought her LPs......

That's what the Republicans always say, every single time - now is not the time for debate. It's never the time for debate. Now is certainly the time for debate and it's been the time for debate for decades. Nothing can change until the NRA is precluded from donating to politicians, it's that simple. They need the money, they crave the money, and then, just as the NRA wants, they are beholden for the money. It's always the money. As people have finally said, the US is the ONLY country where this happens. They blame it on mental illness. Well, no, that has to stop because they make it possible for people with mental issues to easily get guns. This century's Republicans, save for a handful of decent people who buck the jerks, will not stop until they've completely broken everything. Shame on them forever.

I’m glad Beto called our idiot governor out for his inaction.
-
I hope the voters heard him and that he is the next governor.
-
I am restless and need to stop reading the news and get out for a walk.

I had to go into Portland this morning to see my endourologist. Between traffic and the parking structure I allowed an hour for the trip.

Hello, everyone.

Today was Book Day. For some time now I've been wanting to go through my books, culling what I can. I have a terrible time parting with books; there was a time when I never got rid of any. But real estate is just too expensive these days, so one must cull. Still not easy. I have one bookcase here and the books are double-stacked, ie, two books deep on each shelf. There were also several piles of books in front of the bookcase. My cleaning guy, Brian, is not a book lover and has been getting a bit impatient with me. But Brian is not the reason I wanted to cull. It simply needed to be done.
-
I now have an orderly bookcase, still two books deep, with bins in front of it full of more books and ephemera. It looks sooo much better! BUT, what do I now do with the two big piles of books that didn't fit?? Harrummpphh!
-
We book culled before our move here. It is hard to do.
-

Are those books you still want to keep?
-
Jeanne I am glad Brian is still cleaning for you. How often do you have him? I recall his time was previously limited.
-
I did today's Wordle in 5 tries. Many of my choices are bounced as they are not in the word list. But they look like normal English words. They fit the Wordle criteria. I'm getting a better feel for which words Wordle will accept. But I'm not as good as it as some of the other players here.
-

Moving is a great incentive to cull.

Are those books you still want to keep?
Most of them. There are some maybes, books I read that I think I may want to read again, even though I wasn't impressed the first time. Books I don't remember AT ALL.
-
Jeanne I am glad Brian is still cleaning for you. How often do you have him? I recall his time was previously limited.
He's come only once since Covid and that was about a month ago. I need to contact him. There wasn't enough time last time to do it all. It had been two years since the apartment had had a thorough cleaning. The sofa needs to be pulled out and I can't do it. Plus there's some other stuff that I could do, but would be happy to delegate.
-
Brian has a different job now and it's harder for him to fit me in. His partner's mother is available, but I've never met her and am a bit reluctant. I'm not like BK. I don't say, "OK, you know what to do" and then leave. For some that works, but I want them to clean like I used to. Brian's very good at that; he takes direction well. I don't know if she will.

Jane, have you tried the eye drops?

Books I don't remember is the reason I began a list of all the books I have read.

Too many books?
Interesting article. The library I donate to is very picky, even though the books are for their book sales. Anything not in very good condition goes to the Goodwill, who isn't very picky. I'll have to give some thought to other places who might accept donations.
-
I do not like when I unintentionally re-read a book.
Or buy one I already own.

Yes thank you. I was a bit surprised how thick they are. I like them and will continue to use them, alternating with the Refresh Plus singles.

I'm afraid to give books to the Goodwill because I might go there and buy them back.
I would have to take them to a Goodwill in another zip code.

Musical director has - Covid. Trying to replace him now - if we can't, we may have to cancel. Even if he tests negative on Monday at the end of his quarantine, I don't think my singers will want to be anywhere near him.

Sorry. I hope you find a replacement.

Vibes for BK and company.

Talked with Mom earlier. She sounded much better. She also was no longer really cold. So, I'm hoping she turned a corner.

Starting Licorice Pizza. I'm surprised that I don't hate it.

To avoid reading all the sad news of today I have lost myself in a novel that takes place in Britain, and beyond, during WW2 ;D

I'm halfway through Licorice Pizza and I've found that P.T. Anderson has lost control of the flow. It's still interesting, but the scenes peter out before they're done. I also find that Sean Penn, as he ages, is growing into his looks. Tom Waits is a hoot.
-
But I think I'm going to finish it tomorrow night.
-
Good trip so far.

However, I am finding that just sitting and talking for hours in a warm room makes me very sleepy.

Looking forward to starting the Paul Gemigniani book and the edited letters of Oscar Hammerstein by Mark Eden Horowitz.

Another day is done! Cannot brag about any of my activities today. Went nowhere, but I did move my recyclable bin to roadside for tomorrow morning's pickup.
I am doing my physical therapy exercises, but there is still a good deal of weakness and some pain in my left leg that puzzles me. I guess I am going to have to rely on that to-be-scheduled MRI to figure out what is really wrong.
Although...I have heard acupuncture is often helpful, and the recent talk about this practice has made me think I should attempt to find a reliable practitioner just to see if some of this pain can be relieved.
-
I wish everyone pleasant dreams when it is your time to flirt with the sandman!
Good night, good health and good dreams.

Want to read both.
-
I am not keen on the bottle though I greatly prefer it to the singles.
The bottle takes a little getting used to. But the drops seem more effective than some of the others, maybe because they are thick. Often there isn't enough in the singles for one dose, given my aim. The Refresh Relieva are cheaper, too.
-

He doesn't have the time. But his partner's mother does.

I think Brian explained to her the kinds of things I want done. I don't pay extra for "deep cleaning." I think that's bull. It's all ordinary cleaning. I've done it all myself and it really isn't any different. I do take into account that some tasks require heavy lifting and many women aren't able to do them. I pay well, but expect a good job. I'm not interested in whining or the "I'm a professional. I know what needs to be done" attitude. I pay by the hour, which I feel is an honest approach. Some cleaners want to see the place first, then say how much they'll charge. Nope. That makes no sense since they don't know what I want done. I've used many cleaners over the years and few are really good. I also know the games they play. I don't want the games, just honest work. You can see why it's so hard for me to find someone.
-
Now I must figure out what to do with all the books that didn't fit.
Good luck.
Indeed. Good luck. And share your answer, please.
Some books are in a pile on the floor in front of the bin that's in front of the bookcase. Some books are in a pile on top of the bin that's in front of the bookcase. And some were boxed up and are stashed with other boxes which also need to be done through. In other words, just a temporary solution. But at least they're no longer in the middle of the floor.
-
I'm afraid to give books to the Goodwill because I might go there and buy them back.
I would have to take them to a Goodwill in another zip code.
I can relate to that.

To avoid reading all the sad news of today I have lost myself in a novel that takes place in Britain, and beyond, during WW2 ;D
WWII is cheerier than the contemporary US? If the film and fiction covering that period is any indication I think people coped better then than many do today. I've always found strength in reading (or viewing) WWII stories. They went through so much!
-

I have one bag of books in good condition to donate to one of the local libraries. They're picky about what they'll accept, so the well-worn books will be taken to the Goodwill. I could probably sell some on eBay or Amazon, but don't want the bother.
-

I have found acupuncture helpful for many conditions, but especially for pain. Strengthening the muscles is important, but by reducing the pain you can exercise more comfortably and more effectively. Vibes you find someone who helps you.

Someone has to do something. The current Republican party should be held responsible, but nothing will change because, as I said earlier, they need those huge donations from the NRA. Someone, someday, can explain why a kid, just shy of his eighteenth birthday, was allowed to purchase to AK whatever they are. In what universe is that okay.
-
Tonight I watched the first act of the stage musical of HOLIDAY INN. The reason is simple. Their production number of “Chasing the Blues Away” is one of only things that can make me smile again.
-
The other would, of course, be Brent Barrett and Michael Jeter doing “We’ll Take a Glass Together.”
