Oh my goodness, Elmore, how frightening.
I am not a fan of the idea of an Alexa but perhaps it would be wise to have something like that where you could shout for it to call for help.
Do you have a neighbor you trust enough to give a key to your apartment?
Did your building get a new live in super yet?
Ethan Mordden's latest book arrived in the Amazon delivery yesterday, so I spent too much time browsing through it. He was once a really good friend who did me wrong around 1990, so I've had neary thirty years to observe his madness and sometimes loony takes on things. For instance, in discussing John McGlinn's wonderful EMI recording of Brigadoon, he gets half the background story correct, but because that's nowin print, it will be quoted over and over while people believe it's fact.
I did of course look up my recordings since he either obliquely pans or praises me in his books without ever mentioning my name: he sorta likes my Eileen, ignores completely Dearest Enemy, and likes much of Roberta. I think The New Yorkers comes off best. However, this book is very opinionated and a lot of fun, much more than his musicals-by-the-decades books with their often poor, if any, research'
However, the book itself is an embarrassment in its layout. Did no ne proofread this? It's certainly published by his usual publishers St. Martin's Press or Oxford University Press, and it should have been.
I wanted to go to a matinee, but I couldn’t find a movie I wanted to see.
All of that being said, though, I’d sure like to read it, too.
While doubting the accuracy of everything, all along the way.

It's all his opinions, and that's fine. It's his "let me tell yopu the story behind this recording" where he's not always accurate.
DR CHAS SMITH when is your next CARRIE rehearsal?
But really DR JOHN G - is editors necessary?
I like to sit on my porch in my rocking chair between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Most days this week a man has been driving his PT CRUISER in front of my house three or four times during that hour. He has a big sign on the back of his car that reads: DUMBASS FESTIVAL FOUR BIG DAYS!!!
I was thinking about going. I saw September - but I couldn't read the dates....
Today on his third pass by I looked and the sign read:
BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL
FOUR BIG DAYS
SEPTEMBER 3-6.
I lost interest in the event.
Saving that to read ....... maybe tomorrow.
Thank you, TCB!Happy Belated Birthday to you dear Ron!
I am sorry this is a day late.

DR Ron, don’t ever get old. Oh I know you are a year or so years older, but you seem to be doing a lot better than me. Maybe it is the fresh air in the Carolinas.

I have given serious thought to following up on one of those "I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up" videos.
My neighbor Judy has my apartment keys and so does Joshie. I couldn't get to a phone to call either of them.
The management cannot get the ex-super's bitch wife, a nasty nasty lady, to move out although she's been ordered to evacuate. Her crazt son is the one we think behind the basement fire.

So, pray tell, am I in this Ethan Mordden book?
Watching Mercy Street. The cretinous Confederate criminal is named William Griffin, which just so happened to be Dad’s name.
We stopped at a T-Mobile store to consolidate lines... I'm porting over my number from Verizon onto the DH's account. We upgraded phones for both of us, too.
All well and good, but we were there for 3+ hours waiting for the new phones to replicate our old phones. We finally aborted when we realized we were going to miss our dinner date with friends, so we'll have to go back tomorrow and start the whole process over again.
First-world problems, I know.
And…..looks like my alternator has failed, on a three day holiday weekend
How convenient

I am always surprised (but shouldn't be) by how much better the world looks when I clean my eyeglasses.
I’ve been impressed at how falling is such a concern in the medical profession these days, once one reaches “a certain age”. It’s practically the first thing they ask about at doctors offices. “Do you have concerns about falling?”
I have greatly enjoyed the few times I’ve gone out to something after those months of lockdown. I’m still careful in taking precautions, but it’s just great to be out and helping in some small way to keep things alive.
DR ELMORE that's scary - the fall.... I finally threw away the pair of shoes I was wearing both times I fell this year. They were a bit large and I think that had something to do with it.
I finished cleaning out the main floor of the garage. It’s hot out there, and I am a puddle of sweat.
I shelved a few boxes of books. But I also got together a couple of boxes for the library.

I've often had the same reaction. Think your eyes are failing? Clean your glasses.

First-world problem, but I have to wonder if the process can't be streamlined. Someone at Best Buy once advised me to do an update on my phone before bringing it in, because they don't have very good wi-fi and the process would take several hours. As it happened, I switched to Consumer Cellular, which is located in a Target, and the process was very fast. I had done the advised update, but I also don't keep much on my phone and I'm sure that helped.

Ugh! At Cedars they give you a whole page of questions in GIANT PRINT about that. I find it offensive. "How many times have you fallen in the past year?" But asked over and over in different ways. Once you hit 65 you're gaga and lose all your brain cells. A physical assessment, performed by a PT or osteopath, would make sense, but not lumping all seniors together.
99 here today and 102 expected tomorrow. AC and fans aren't enough to sufficiently cool this little apartment. Given climate change, I think we have to expect more of these extremes.
SO DR CHAS SMITH does this one email answer all three email questions......

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep - got up at one and have been answering e-mails and doing Kritzerland show stuff, and now I have to do this Zoom meeting, but I must say I'm pretty much done making changes to the screenplay. If it were up to my writing partner he'd do every note we got no matter how loony. Thank goodness, I don't go to that land and won't because it cheapens what we've done and of course those notes are all Screenwriting 101 cliches and I won't do them. We're a good team in that way.

Does your library have book sales? Otherwise, they may need to add a new wing.

YIKES!
I know, very scary.
I had several errands today, tattoo shop, church, party goods store, grocery and pharmacy and got all of those done except the pharmacy.
When I got there the line was 7 cars long so I decided to skip it and head home and go tomorrow instead.
As I was on my block the battery light came on and car started to lurch so I turned off the A/C and the radio and made it into our driveway without incident.
Car vibes for Vixmom!
Re copy editors:
I was asked to write a short article for a local nature magazine. It came back with every sentence red-lined. Every sentence was changed. There was not even a phrase in there that I wrote.
It ended up on the cutting room floor, I guess. It wasn't in the issue that was delivered today.

Just took a look at playwrightshorizons.org.
