Title: A LOVELY MIRACLE AND OTHER STORIES
Post by: bk on October 22, 2022, 12:05:10 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a lovely miracle, part one, and now it is time for you to post until the miraculous cows come home.

So, The Manhattan Transfer (in collaboration with WDR Funkhausorchester (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WDR_Funkhausorchester)) just released their latest CD, Fifty (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B7NMVW19/), celebrating their fiftieth anniversary of the group!  My CD isn't expected to arrive until Tuesday, but purchasing it from Amazon includes their AutoRip, so I was able to download MP3s and am listening to it now!  They're all in fine form and I'm loving every moment of it. :D

I can't wait to get the physical CD...I just wish the downloads (even if you only purchase the MP3s) included a digital booklet. ::)

My neighbor Steve Williford, one of the directors for the soap The Young and the Restless, is back in Manhattan for a brief visit, and he was a huge help yesterday. Amazon Fresh delivered a big grocery order, and the jerk delivery person, unlike the ones before, left seven bags of groceries sitting somewhere rather than bring them up and leave them at my door.

First of all, I had to find the damned delivery since Amazon sent me an email telling me my order was "successfully delivered." When I got to the first floor, Steve was in the loibby, and he helped me find the delivery, which the jerk had left not in the lobby but in the hall near the front door. He then carried every bag to the elevator for me, and when I rode up to three, he took the stairs and carried every bag to my door.

After I unpacked an put everything away, I called Amazon and let them know how unhappy I was about the delivery. I hope they sack the delivery person.

DR LAURA - when the alleged defendant is moved to another courtroom he has the capability to watch, hear, and talk and be heard though technology.

His last witness is his mother - but he will NOT say if he is going to call her or not.....NONE of his witnessing were any help to him at all, and at least three of them were hostile to his questions....one woman had FOUR children injured in the event!

I did get a page and a half of six measures scored. Thatch came to help me. He chased a pencil, checked out all the shelves of music surrounding the work table, and investigated the tape dispenser, the stapler, the stapler remover, a few rulers of various lengths, and a couple of pens before he decided to drop from exhaustion on the spot where I was writing. After I had scrached his head, held him for a bit, and tickled him with my pencil, he ran off to other activities. Thirty minutes later, he returned and we went through the entire process again.

Then DR Ginny called.

Back from Hugo's and pasta papa, picking up packages, and checking out the new iPhone 14 Pro. If I want it, it costs just about zero, because I almost get full price for my 13 Pro, and the small balance goes onto my ATT bill - like five bucks a month for year or so. Not sure I need it. I also keep waiting for them to come out with an iMac 27-inch - there hasn't been an upgrade for two or three years now, so I'm wondering if they'll even bother. I really like that size screen, but mine is seven years old, has the old USB ports, which are basically useless now, blah, blah, blah. I looked at the 24-inch and it's lovely, just a bit smaller.

I think DR LAURA is right - although I am not sure DB's ego would allow him to claim that he was anything but brilliant in his own defense......

I seem to remember years ago there was a trial in which a man defended himself and then asked for an appeal based on inadequate counsel.

Does anyone read the column AITA? It stands for Am I the A—hole? People write in their problems and readers post their opinions.

I find it all rather lurid and fascinating.

The highlight of my day has been watching the men's finals of the ISU grand prix Skate America event in which 17-year-old Ilia Malinin, representing the USA, skated an historic and winning free skate.  His first move was a quad axel, which was/is just phenomenal, and he is the only skater in the world to have landed it in competition.

He soared from fourth place (short program score) to first and no one could catch him.  He landed about five or six other quads, as well.  No one else had more than three.

Ah, well.

Steve sounds like a very nice man, and a good neighbor.

I didn't know that.  The dealer who's on the west side of Olympia filled my tires for free, but there's a Les Schwab just a couple of blocks from my house.  I'll try them next time.
