Well, you've read the notes, the notes had twelve tones, and now it is time for you to post until the twelve-tone cows come home.

Annabelle and Thatch are very good sleeping partners, but Stella is impossible. She needs constant attention and reassurance she is loved. When she feels slighted, she butts my hands, tries to force my hands to pet her, and climbs all over me. Much as I love her, there's never enough affection to fill that void.

I wish I'd been savvy enough to start acquiring those box sets years ago. It's too late now. I do have a great six-eye copy of the original Webern LP box, and some of the related releases from back in the day.

As for Webern, do I love his music? No. But I can enjoy hearing it, partly for the memories it evokes of my school years and learning a few pieces then, and partly just in the way BK is doing it.

Edit:  I'd forgotten about Marni Nixon being part of that. A good reminder.

Closing night saw a couple of weird things happening, but it was a fine performance and the audience was with it all the way, even through the little gaffes. It was still a rewarding end to a very successful run ... said run itself having been a bloody miracle after the casting and rehearsal conflict difficulties.

I might have a couple of additional pieces of photographic evidence later. Waiting on some email.

I have a couple of hours to relax, then it's back to the theeder to take all of my gear out of there.

And then, because I've been such a good boy and no good deed goes unpunished, I have a rehearsal for Smorgasbord! this evening.

And then -- yes, this is an additional then -- I'm back there tomorrow to let the drummer in and help him remove his stuff. Followed by ... (you guessed it, you clever people) ... a rehearsal.

I shall have to listen to Donald's radio show on The Rocky Horror Show. I actually know quite little about it, and it's high time I learned its history and traditions.

The playhouse that did Carrie enjoyed a very successful October run of TRHS several years ago, and they've mentioned it (hint hint hint) to me a few times over the past couple of years. So if I want to music direct it at some point in this lifetime, I've got the opportunity. But I have never once attended it, either a staged production or the film version, which I know is outright unbelievable. But I am here to tell the truth, and by God, you just heard the truth.

DR Jrand72, I love a lot of Bradbury's stories, but I tend to be terrible at remember their individual titles. As far as the books go, I've always liked October Country, R is for Rocket, Dandelion Wine, The Martian Chronicles, and the novels Fahrenheit 451 and Something Wicked This Way Comes. Which - woops - covers an awful lot of his output, does it not? I used to enjoy reading the stuff especially at this time of year,.

Did you ever watch the Bradbury anthology TV series? I have the set here but I haven't watched them all. A few were definitely a letdown in terms of really portraying the atmosphere of the stories, but I should get back to them now and see what's what.

The highlight of my day has been watching the men's finals of the ISU grand prix Skate America event in which 17-year-old Ilia Malinin, representing the USA, skated an historic and winning free skate.  His first move was a quad axel, which was/is just phenomenal, and he is the only skater in the world to have landed it in competition.

He soared from fourth place (short program score) to first and no one could catch him.  He landed about five or six other quads, as well.  No one else had more than three.

It sounds impressive.  Maybe I can catch a video of his performance.

DR CHAS SMITH I stage managed a production of the RHS many years ago.....opening week, an actor hurt his leg, since he played the professor he was fine in the wheelchair scenes, but I had to do his Transylvanian scenes....then people kept dropping out.....we ended up running 12 weeks.....so there I was....

The music is a LOT of fun and if everyone is in on it, it's great.

A local university director tried to make the show his own....all of the Transylvanians were zombies and lots of simulated sex among them.....Rocky was NOT a handsome actor and Frank was just.....no.....so it can be bolloxed up by the wrong director for sure.

If you say you're doing The Rocky Horror Show - do it!!!

As strange as it may seem I only knew who Ray Bradbury was since I occasionally sat next to his daughter on the school bus.  and then because someone mentioned to me who she was.  Who he was didn't mean much to me until he came and spoke at our school, making him the first author I ever heard speak.

BK, are you considering purchasing the new Mitropoulos box set?

I got it the day it came out. Search the notes, I wrote about it quite a bit over the week it took me to listen to it all.

Started looking at a new book called Let’s Do It: The Birth of Pop Music, a History by one Bob Stanley. I don’t think I’ll read it all the way through. Of Cole Porter, he writes that Porter “wasn’t a romantic.” He then goes on to mention “True Love” and “In the Still of the Night.” If those aren’t romantic, what are they? Fish?

Sunday evening greetings!  We’ve had a quiet day, but about 5:30 I was working at my desk and Richard was watching TV when we heard a loud crash and breaking glass.  By yelling we each determined that the other was OK, but we met in the living room to find the outer pane of our double-paned picture window shattered.

We went outside and looked for a rock or a ball or a dead bird and found nothing.  We can only assume that it was a bird that was able to fly off.

Tom, there supposedly is a masturbation scene in the new Oklahoma! It’s when they’re looking at dirty pictures in Jud’s place.

We did not notice it. The looking at photos in the smokehouse scene was done in the dark. All the dialogue was in the dark; they man with the camera came out and live-streamed closeups of their faces during the song (which was still in the dark, except for the lighting on their faces).

Watching a lovely movie - Swedish - A Man Called Ove. Of course, it's been remade for the US and is coming out in pure Oscar-bait fashion on Christmas Day starring Tom Hanks, who I'm sure in pure Oscar-bait fashion, will be nominated. I cannot imagine it will be as charming and heartfelt as the Swedish film, nor can I imagine a better performance than Rolf Lassgard, who was Wallendar in the first series of Swedish films and then the titular chapter in another Swedish crime series, Sebastian Bergman. More in the notes, but if you want to get a jump on it - it's free on Amazon Prime.

He is very good - excellent in some areas.  I hope he has a long career ahead for all of us to enjoy.  It was good NOT to see some of the boring hang arounds that have been on the circuit so many years....

My local NBC affiliate decided not to show the men’s skating, so, I had to watch it on Peacock.   It was nice that I got to see all 12 skaters full programs, but they were shown without any commentary.  I am afraid I don’t know one jump from another, so I need some help from Tara and Johnny.
