Well, you've read the notes, the notes were old and had a curmudgeon, and now it is time for you to post until the curmudgeonly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RAPSCALLION!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am staying inside today to get a big chunk of the song I'm orchestrating out of the way. I would like to finish it by Monday.
-
Tomorrow, however, is supposed to be a beautiful day, and I need to step out for two things. The first is to stop at Verizon and have my cell phone checked out. I don't know if I need a new battery or a new phone. My second stop is my bank, where I need to pick up $100 in singles for Access-a-Ride trips and to start a savings account for the cats.
-
My current favorite "most ridiculous" commercial at the moment is for the anti-depressant drug Rexulti, in which a depressed woman wanders around carrying a paper plate on a stick with an infantile happy face drawn on it. I don't know how she can keep a sad face holding that stupid plate orhw the lady playing her shrink can hold a serious facew talking to a lady holding a paper plate on a stick.
-
I also love these two battling commercials for elderly life insurance. One offers $30,000 and the other company offers $50,000. What they have in common are the following:
1. An elderly African-American woman with delusions of being an actress
2. A completely clueless child - in one a son, in the other a daughter - to whom the poor older woman has to explain the details of their windfall when she dies. I wish the commercial would end with the child smothering the older lady for for her inept performance and for the insurance money.
-
At the moment, my favorite commercial remains the Chewy.com commercial I posted the other day with that adorable cat.
-
I am also happy that ne f the Medicare commercials has replaced the completely repellant "comic" Jimmy JJ Walker with William Devane.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I am also happy that ne f the Medicare commercials has replaced the completely repellant "comic" Jimmy JJ Walker with William Devane.
May we assume this means you aren't excited about "MON-NAY" and that you aren't calling that number "NOW-OW"?

Only about 3.5 hours of sleep, and that was filled with bizarre but very specific dreams. Ugh.

~~~CONTINUED DENTAL VIBES~~~ for DR Ron Pulliam this morning.
-
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't ask a Tambourine Man to play me a song. I just wouldn't.
-
DR John G., are the Avengers episodes self-contained? That is, can you watch them in any old order?
-
My current peeve about commercials is the ones for TED -- thyroid eye disease.
Don't you just love that they offer a link for us to visit and see all of Jeannie's "before" photos?
She wears about 15 pairs of sunglasses throughout the commercial and only reveals her normal eyes at the end.
But the worst part is that she pronounces "thyroid" as though it were "thigh-RID".
And it's everytime she says the word!!!
-
I am having dental surgery this morning. In two hours and 15 minutes to be precise.
This time, I have a pill to take an hour before the procedure to allay anxiety that raises my blood pressure.
I have one 5mg tablet of diazepam.
I hope it works. I want this surgery well behind me.
-
I don't know about you, but I wouldn't ask a Tambourine Man to play me a song. I just wouldn't.
How about "Piano Man"?
And don't anyone try to change that. No trespassing. Stay out. Beware of dog.
I think we should all send DR CHAS SMITH a message on Twitter - at the same time.....he has too much time on his hands today.
I ordered a nice plant to be delivered for Rick's viewing tomorrow - which I plan to attend of course..... $95!
I can't stand to watch or even listen to most commercials these days. I keep the remote(s) close at hand so I can either mute or fast-forward through them.
There are a few that I actually enjoy, but I'm blank on all but one of them: As horrible as the Liberty Mutual ones are, I loved the "Bad Actor" one. I thought it was well written, acted, and edited. BUT...only the original full length version. Once they began showing it in shorter time slots at a half or third of its original length, they killed it.
So what the HELL are the others? I'm thinking there was one (and only one) Geico commercial I thought was very funny, but it's gone from my poor brain at the moment.
When I was a twig, I enjoyed the Anacin commercials:
"Don't you think it needs a little salt?"
"Mother, please, I'd rather do it myself!"
"Cathy, can't you keep the kids' bicycles OUT of the DRIVEWAY!"
I liked the Hawaiian Punch guy - and the toy commercials....especially the songs - like the game from Remco Fascination - sung to the tune of Alouette.....
-
All of today's medicine commercials and insurance commercials are a bit much......although I do like Flo and her crew - to a point.
My teeth are set on edge when I hear the chorus sing about "LiberDEE Mutual".....the way some folks sing "Beau-DEE and the Beast"......
Political ads are a whole other animal, but those will be gone soon!
-
My all time favorite is this one - featuring the music of Paul Revere & The Raiders!
-
I won NOTHING in the PB drawing last night!
-
I was not the $1 million dollar MN winner. Especially since I didn't buy a ticket.
Another @#(%*&@ BUST!
Yes, you heard me. My blood pressure was too high and they wouldn't do the surgery.
My BP was 116 over 70 when I left the house. I took a 5mg diazepam one-half hour before my scheduled surgery.
I was CHILL. They settled me in, put on the electrodes for heart monitoring, and inserted the IV for the meds that would knock me out. They started those meds to further relax me. I was feeling nothing but good will toward all mankind.
And, apparently, my first reading was good, but subsequent readings got higher and higher. I cannot fathom it. They could have amputated a leg and I would have been none the wiser.
I go back on Tuesday morning to calibrate my sphygmomanometer cuff with their machine.
SIGH!
Yes the Bad Actor one was hilarious.....and very authentic.
DR Ron Pulliam that is terrible!
Ha DR singdaw knows this already but I was today years old when I learned that a Medicare Advantage Plan takes the place of Medicare and pays all bills the way Medicare would - by law.....plus the extras that are included in your plan and not in regular Medicare....AND your Medicare Payment from your Social Security check is sent to the Advantage Plan company.
At least that's how I understood the explanation. I could be wrong.
-
No winner in PB at all. Now up to $1.5 billion.
Unbelievable.
-
DR Jrand72, Medicare is really not my area of expertise, but yes, that is my understanding of how it works.
-
But it's only 750 million after taxes. 8)
I don't think this has been mentioned, yet...Andrew Burnap, Phillipa Soo & Jordan Donica to Star in CAMELOT at Lincoln Center Theater (https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Andrew-Burnap-Phillipa-Soo-Jordan-Donica-to-Star-in-CAMELOT-at-Lincoln-Center-Theater-20221101).
But the second half of the first paragraph says:
Featuring a book by Academy and Emmy Award winning writer Aaron Sorkin*, based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, and direction by Bartlett Sher, Lerner & Loewe's Camelot is scheduled to begin performances on Thursday, March 9, 2023, and open on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). ::)
*Shouldn't that specify "new" book??
Jrand and Singdaw:
I've had a Medicare Advantage plan since 2014, when I first qualified for Medicare, and have been very happy with it. I'm currently with my second plan -- I changed a few years ago to United Healthcare Focus. I pay NO monthly premium, have ZERO copay for PCP and specialists, and the few copays I've had have been quite reasonable. In recent years I had a procedure done with one of LA's best surgeons. Medicare was billed $9K, but I was billed nothing, except a copay of $12 for a tube of Lidocaine. I never expected to have such good insurance! I also receive 20 acupuncture visits and 20 chiropractor visits each year with no copay, and free annual eye exams. The insurance also covered a couple hundred dollars off my last pair of prescription sunglasses.
I'm currently with Cedars-Sinai and was with UCLA with the first plan. I have many issues with how we practice medicine in general, but my gripes are with the medical groups -- not the insurance. I'm getting the highest quality health care available in LA. Prior to Covid, United Healthcare had excellent patient advocates/customer service people, but I think many of them must have left as the current crop seems less experienced.
There are many Medicare Advantage plans out there and they seem to be pretty competitive. I would encourage anyone with Medicare to look into them. They're a real bargain.
-
Hello, DR Jeanne. Hang in there!
Thanks!
-
GREAT news from Jane and Keith!
Are you both traveling tomorrow?
-
I ordered a nice plant to be delivered for Rick's viewing tomorrow - which I plan to attend of course..... $95!
A friend's mother died recently and I considered flowers until I saw the prices -- $80 and up! I chose trees instead, to be planted in an area that needs reforestation. Cheaper and I like the concept.
-
Condolences to all who have lost friends or family recently.
My neighbor Ann stopped by for a visit, and I was telling her about my appointment yesterday. She asked about reading glasses, told me she wore reading glasses she bought at the Museum of Modern Art. Spent a couple of hours filling out my ballot, then went and put it in a ballot mail box just five minutes from here.
Then I went to Taco Bell for food.
