Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written, and now it is time for you to post until the written cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FORMIDABLE!
-
Good morning
-
I fell asleep unintentionally around 9 pm
-
So I woke at 5
-
Wide awake
-
So far I’ve caught up on email and listened to a podcast
-
I might shimmy, like your sister Kate, next.
-
Or perhaps I’ll just Wordle

Good morning, all!
-
I had a pretty lousy night. I was restless, could not get comfortable, and my bladder was out of control. Faithful little Thatch stayed with me, and that was a comfort.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR vixmom is shimmying?
-
And the word of the day is: FORMIDABLE!
ALSO a Pacific Overtures reference!
-
Yesterday and ths morning I got emails from UPS and Fed Ex claiming they had undelivered packages for me, all I had to do with fill out the online form. I suspect this is a scam, so I'm ignoring them.
-
Very likely, DR elmore3003.

TOD:
We'll stay all night and try 'em all!
-
To paraphrase Judy Garland.
-
I found that first paragraph of today's Notes most entertaining.
-
Last night we finished watching More Tales of the City, which was actually better than I had remembered. Tomorrow we will move on to Further Tales of the City.
-
I have 24 bars to score this morning and the Coda in Swing Time is finished. Then I can do the new version of No. 34 Variation 3, my attempt to write a shimmy was an embarrassing dud, so it's going to become a fox-trot.

On This Day in 1990, the largest dinosaur fossil was discovered.
American palaeontologist Sue Hendrickson found the fossilised remains of a Tyrannosaurus rex in the state of South Dakota. Sue, as the dinosaur are now informally called after its discoverer, is thought to have been 14 feet tall when alive.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Yesterday was the Saturday that was really a Friday, and today is the Saturday that's really a Saturday, only it feels like a Sunday.
-
I think I followed all of that. Scary.
-
Rest in Peace, Tom Jones.
-
I survived The Music Man last night. It was a beautiful night to be out, after so many weeks of up and down weather, and the place was packed. As well it should be, anyway.
The production was fine for a fairly simple outdoor venue, and the leads and most of the cast were good. The band were all good players, but boy, you just need more of it. Some numbers sounded okay, but small. I was wrong yesterday, there were two reed players, and the first was on piccolo for much of the show. Lots of piccolo in The Music Man.
-
One more.

Good morning, all.

Jones and Schmidt are both gone, now.
-
There was no lambada in the opening paragraph.
-
I filed a PayPal dispute.
-
There was no lambada in the opening paragraph.
Because it was forbidden.
-
I think we should all perform the suggestions in the opening paragraph with gay abandon.
-
We may not be able to do the lambada, but we can do the lambda.
-
Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight's performance of "76 Trombones" will be approximately 75 pieces short...
-
So did they make changes in The Music Man?
They shortened the big dance sequences a bit, but it's been a long time since I've looked at them or played them, and I forgot to ask the music director about that. I think probably "Shipoopi" had the most dance music cut out of it. "Marian the Librarian" was more generously intact.
As for script, I had read somewhere that MTI grants productions blanket freedom to change the the Wa Tan Ye thing to any other patriotic thing, and that's what they did here. They rehashed a quick moment of "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean" and moved on. Nothing else called itself to my attention.

Must get a move on. Today is the day of the rose’ panel in Fredericksburg. One of my favorite days of the year. First panel is sold out. Second panel is close.

DR singdaw, I'm not finding anything saying that Tom Jones has died. Where is this being reported?
-
But first, a dance lesson.
-
DR singdaw, I'm not finding anything saying that Tom Jones has died. Where is this being announced?
I didn’t either. Found a hoax posting about sing Tom Jones dying, but again it was a hoax.
-
DR Elmore: Those e-mails are total SCAMS. Ask yourself this: How the hell do they have your e-mail address but not your home address??
This scam has been going on for quite a while and many people have been duped into giving personal information by filling out those forms.
-
It was posted this morning by Howard Sherman, who I thought was a trusted figure in the arts.
-
Saturday again, eh?
Why must a decent Friday be followed by Saturday?
It can only result in being followed by Sunday, and if you all are honest, you know how dreadful Sundays were when you were a kid in school. Whatever assignment you needed to do over the weekend HAD to be completed on Sunday. Or, you had a test on Monday, and you waited until Sunday to cram because Saturday was SUPPOSED to be a day off.
-
Howard wrote that he heard it on FB from "Mirette"'s book writer on FB, so I guess you could say that it is not officially confirmed.
-
What will it be this morning, DR Ron Pulliam? A muffin or a sausage biscuit?
-
Or waffles?
-
Or pancakes?
-
Or perhaps a berry bowl?
-
Or grits?
-
The possibilities are endless.
-
And the suspense is mounting.
-
I can hear the drumroll.
-
I can hear the crowd murmuring.

Saturday here in Johnston USED TO BE fun, however. It was the day of connecting with everyone you could not connect with during the week. Loads of your friends would meet up at the Pool Hall on the square in Edgefield and have hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and tea or sodas for lunch. On the way home, you might stop for a few fresh veggies at Cook's Produce about three miles outside of town.
People still gather at the Pool Hall. That never stopped even during the pandemic. Difference then was that they put in a window allowing folks to stand outside and order. They had umbrellas to stand under and chairs to sit in while you waited for your food. If the weather permitted, you could sit and eat outdoors.
But for me, the memories are all muddled by the passing of so many folks I knew by name who were friends of my mom and my Aunt Doris.
And the people I do know don't go there on Saturdays at lunch anymore.
Happily, I am free to do my shopping during the week, so I can avoid the crush of people out and about doing their chores on Saturday.

I shall join DR VIXMOM and try to shimmy like my sister Kate!
-
DR JEANNE three of the five outer planets are in retrograde - Saturn Neptune and Pluto. Venus is in Leo retrograde all summer and Mercury retrograde begins August 23 - and if you'll pardon the expression - Uranus will join the retrograde brigade on August 28.
Everybody will be driving their cars in relative reverse for a few more weeks.

I shall join DR VIXMOM and try to shimmy like my sister Kate!

Still nothing in the press, and just a handful of comments on Howard Sherman's and Elizabeth Diggs' FB pages. Nothing on Dan Shaheen's page. I'm kind of assuming that Dan is the controller of whatever news goes out, and when.
I wonder if this is a case of him possibly being so close to going yesterday that the first word leaked out before "oops, not dead yet".
But then all too soon he will be...

Good Morning! Well, I've texted the director of White Christmas and asked her if she still wanted to see me as I don't have a prepared monologue and I have several weeks of conflicts as well as a little conflict on the day of callbacks. I realize these are all the things I hate to hear when I'm on the other side of the table, but I figured I might as well ask. I'll also need to record the accompaniment for my song (it's allowed) as all I have is a lead sheet of something I actually have memorized - cuz I don't retain lyrics well. So, we'll see.
-
Rest in Peace, Tom Jones.
Sad, but at 95 also very good.

I just got over a case of Covid even though I’ve had five boosters over the years and had it once. So much for natural immunity
To possibly get natural immunity I think more people needed to be vaccinated early on before it mutated.
It seemed like it was going to be something that stayed with us, like the flu.

VERY hot and humid today in Maryland.
I had started a garden of herbs from seed a month ago. It was doing so well….parsley, dill, chives, cilantro, mint….everything was growing, and the fresh herbs were delicious.
Today they are brown and crisp. Don’t think they can be salvaged, but will try.

Heartbroken over the disaster on Maui.
Paradise lost, at least for now.

Sorry to hear of Tom Jones' death. He was a dear man, and I once spent many happy hours with Tom, Janet, and their two boys, Sam and Michael, in their apartment on West 107th Street. Janet died tragically aroud ten years ago, and as far as I know, Tom was living alone in Connecticut. I do hope he did not die alone. I loved him and Harvey.

I read that the roots reach deeply underground, and that the tree may survive.
Still, it was over 100 years old, so if it does come back, it will take a very long time. 😢

Yes, sadly, finally confirmed. I wish I had met him years ago, and that I'd met Harvey as well. I do (see what I did there?) have my one wonderful meeting with him to always remember and cherish.

So, the audition happened... and since I didn’t have a monologue, the MD (who is a good friend of mine) asked what my favorite show was (Sunset Blvd) and what my favorite song was (The Lady’s Paying) and then he said to recite the lyrics. So - I did a two person monologue (Manfred and Joe) up to the first “all you need to know’s the lady’s paying”. It was a riot lol
Now I'm preparing to make a black forest trifle to take to the cast party tomorrow.

Evening was pleasant.
I prepared my daily meds for next two weeks in my organizer boxes.
I watched "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison", which remains a very special film pairing for Kerr and Mitchum, IMO. Both were superb. Mitchum should have been Oscar-nominated along with Kerr.

The show is going well.
-
We have 25 in the audience!

The 25 does include Marko, who designed the sound and slides.

But still even without him, we'd have 24, which is still the largest house of the first three shows. :)

Good news, George.

I haven’t seen it. I need to rectify that.
-
I’m going to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good news, George.
Thanks, John!

Hello
-
Vixdad and I went out today and had crepes at one of our favorite crepe places
-
Then I went to the hair place to have my hair did
-
Before
-
What I asked for (with reference photo)
-
What I got
-
Very nice, Vixmom.
-
Oh well
-
Or are you not satisfied? :-\
-
I was sorry to hear about Tom Jones passing
-
Some years ago the Vixter, WFO and I went to seethe revival of The Fantasticks with Tom Jones playing the role of The Old Actor
-
We ended up dead center in the first row
-
We had to tuck our feet under our chairs to avoid tripping the actors
-
The Vixter was young maybe 10 or so and she was absolutely delighted when Mr. Jones scooped up handfuls of confetti from the stage and dumped them on her lap
-
During the intermission we bumped into dear Elmore and friend ( who was there with you Elmore, I cannot remember now)
-
Who we didn’t realize were attending the show
-
Oh, look! It's Page Ten!!
-
And now...intermission!
-
After the show Elmore kindly introduced us to Mr. Jones who was charming and sweet, especially to the awestruck Vixter.
-
Or are you not satisfied? :-\
They can’t seem to cut the frizz without removing all the body, it’s just hanging like a limp rag
-
I wanted it to be especially nice because Vixdad is taking me to a fancy restaurant tomorrow as an early birthday celebration
-
Maybe I can throw some curlers in and make it a bit less limp
-
John I am glad you’re enjoying The Last of Us, I really enjoyed watching it
-
My favorite episode though was the story of Bill and Frank
-
I ended up rewatching it twice more because I loved it so well
-
Or are you not satisfied? :-\
They can’t seem to cut the frizz without removing all the body, it’s just hanging like a limp rag
Darn.
-
Good evening.
-
I was in California today for a board meeting. I flew in and out of Burbank. If there were any celebrities there, I didn't recognize them.
I was at the Burbank Airport many years ago with DRs Kerry and MusicGuy, and they recognized a few people.
-
Show was good tonight. Some friends in the audience, that's always fun. I haven't had time to put the trifle together so I'll have to throw it together after church and before I leave for the theatre. I think I can do that. All I have to do is whip the cream and then assemble. Now, I'm heading to bed.
Good night!
-
Here's a picture from tonight's show:
-
This scene is when the main character of the second act (Abby, on the right, played by Jesse) goes to the house she grew up in for the first time since she was 15.
-
She didn't have a good childhood. :-\
-
But it is a good play...intense, but good.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Where'd George go? Down a damn rabbit hole? Down a damn toilet?
-
Surely we can get to 300 postings.
-
One simply must.
-
What?
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
Uh oh...this isn't good:
