Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the home stretch, and now it is time for you to post until the home stretch cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NEXUS!
-
~~~Continued Vibes for a Modern Major Miracle, Which BK Desperately Needs!!~~~
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am really happy over the Georgia indictments. I'm hoping this will be the end for the bastard. I've given up any hopes of execution for treason.
-
This morning Access-a-Ride will take me to Chrystie Street. I'm hoping my Medicaid can be straightened out. God knows I couldn't do it over the phone.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
GOOD LUCK today, DR elmore3003.
-
Do you schedule an appointment, or do you just show up?
-
:)
-
I don't think I've had mac and cheese in many years. Not sure why, really. It's not that I don't like it.
-
~~~CONTINUED MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Interesting opera site, DR George. Thank you.
-
Wow - cool here! Below 60 degrees.
-
Winter is coming!
-
On This Day in 1939, 84 years ago. The Wizard of Oz premiered at Grauman's.
-
Do you schedule an appointment, or do you just show up?
I called the number, got an automated voice that told me little except to leave my name and number. I did tha along with a message that I planned on coming down today and got no response, So . . . I'm just showing up.

DR Ron Pulliam, those albums are not designated specially in Amazon Music, but if you see "HD" and "360" in the metadata, that's it.
-
Too soon?

School is back in session. Another half hour added to my driving time.
-
Well, Access-a-Ride fucked me over, and I've rescheduled my trips for tomorrow. Here's my saga:
Scheduled pickup time: 8:39am
8:25 phone call: driver will arrive in 12 minutes (8:37)
8:39 phone call: driver will arrive in 7-10 minutes (8:49?)
8:50 phone call: driver will arrive in 15 minutes 9:05)
8:53 phone call: cancel my trips for today

Wordle: 5/6

Sorry, DR elmore3003.
-
Wish you could win the lottery so you'd never have to deal with Access-A-Ride ever again.
-
Pancakes. It's what's for breakfast.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Toast (15-grain bread) with butter and garlic honey. It’s what’s for breakfast.
-
I kid you not.
What, you think I’m kidding? Would I kid you? Do I look like a kidder?
-
Sorry to hear about the AaR screwup, DR Elmore. I still fail to understand that operation.
It’s such an aggravating situation, because it seems that when they perform well, they’re every bit the wonderful organization they’re supposed to be.
-
TOD
I would probably eat just about any mac-and-cheese you set in front of me. (As long as it’s not too runny. Can’t stand that.)
I’m done with the Kraft packaged varieties and most any other prepared kinds, but anything good made from scratch is usually wonderful. I really should re-learn how to make a decent one myself, something I haven’t done in years.
My mother’s always included some canned tomatoes, so for years I thought that’s just how it was always done. I want to make that again myself for old time’s sake. But the bacon variety sounds like absolute heaven.
-
Honey.

Continued Major Miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
So sorry DR ELMORE - these retrogrades continue until at least August 28.....the struggle is real.
-
I enjoyed the "winners" DR singdaw thanks for posting.
-
I think my favorite mac and cheese (although I like them all, even what I make) is from the local Gray Bros. Cafeteria.....
I think it must be baked because there is always a nice brown crust on top....and it is very creamy.
-
Continued writing vibes for MR BK....and congrats on the upcoming projects.
-
I'm waiting for our Duning-Kruger former prez to declare the indictments declassified!
-

You know, I think there’s something about cafeteria mac and cheese in general that “just works”. And YES to the crust!
-
I JUST ATE TWO MORE SLICES.
Of the garlic honey toast, in case anyone had forgotten.
Well, these aren’t huge slices of bread. And it’s a treat. Do I not deserve a treat? I ask you.
Plus, in so doing, I completely polished off the stick of butter and the honey. So we’re moving on. And I shan’t feel the need to eat for a while.
-
Before my mother went off the deep end, she made fantastic mac'n'cheese, along with a lot of wonderful things from donuts to popcorn balls. I remember little about it now because her downhill slide began sometime after 1957 when I was eleven. Anyway, all I remember is her baking it in a large casserole dish and it came out of the oven with a nice brown crust on top, and it was not a runny mac'n'cheese but a rather firmly packed one. By 1960 or so, her days of wonderful baking and cooking were pretty much over except for family events where she pulled herself together to prove she wasn't a mess.
-
About three years ago, I bought from Amazon a ceramic water dish for the cats that I really loved. Two days ago I broke it, and Amazon no longer carries them. I am heartbroken.
-
Good Morning - I'm off to work again today. Yesterday was not very productive for a lot of reasons which just had to happen. Today will be better, although the AC in my room is down. That always happens right before school starts.. I hope they get it fixed before the kids arrive on Monday. Other than that, it's business as usual.
VIBES to DR Elmore that he gets his medicade worked out.
-
I like Patti LaBelle’s mac and cheese, which has egg helping hold it together. Sounds strange, I know, but it also gave it a sort of custardy quality. It calls for four cheeses and Velveeta. It was rich without being heavy.
-
TOD - I love Mac and Cheese, but I hardly ever eat it because there are just too many carbs! The GF versions out there can be very good and that sorta reduces the carb count. However, sometimes you just gotta do the entire thing - carbs and all. I like boxed Mac and Cheese, it's just the best - and I use the entire cheese packet! My grandmother used to only use half.

THREE!!!
-
DR Jeanne I have read a number of Rhys Bowen novels, but not The Venice Sketchbook. Once again, the only place I can get an eBook is with Kindle. At $2.99 I purchased it.
-
DR Jeanne I hope the remodeling doesn't take too long.
-
My favorite Mac & Cheese is the recipe I use from the Ratner's cookbook. It is not runny as it has sour cream in it and a little bit of flour.
-
The second time Keith ate at the deli he purchased their cookbook. Sadly for me, by the time I had the opportunity to eat there the restaurant was gone.

I’m glad I have waited to get Last Picture Show on DVD. Criterion is releasing a 4K version later this year and including Texasville with it.
-
I don’t like a lot of additional ingredients in mac and cheese, and that includes lobster and crab meat. Bacon? Nope. Spinach? Nope.
-
There’s a barbecue joint in town that puts burnt ends in their mac and cheese. Pretty good.
-
Interesting opera site, DR George. Thank you.
My pleasure, Singdaw!

Am I misunderstanding the meaning of prolific in this headline about Nessun Dorma?
What is Puccini’s prolific aria really about?

Yes, the egg sounded strange, but the whole thing sounds incredible.
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry to hear about the dish breaking, because that kind of thing has happened to me and it's such an aggravating disappointment - because you think you should be able to just get another one, and they no longer are made. If I thought about it long enough I'd likely come up with two or three good examples of that, but it's such a pisser that I don't even care to remember them at the moment.
-
I’m glad I have waited to get Last Picture Show on DVD. Criterion is releasing a 4K version later this year and including Texasville with it.
Yes! And Criterion is also releasing in November La Ceremonie, based on Ruth Rendell's mystery A Judgment in Stone. It's a wonderfully creepy film, also starring Jacqueline Bisset.
-
I sent an email to the customer service dept. of Pavilion Gifts, who sold the cat dish. I got a lovely reply from a Molly Deul, who told me thet were no longer selling it and she could find none of the dtores they sell to who might have a dish for sale. She also sent me a eBay link to a seller who wanted $10.00 for one. I just purchased it, and then I sent Molly a thank you note.

Yes, excellent! It's good to jump on these things. Well done, sir.

Sounds like good news from Criterion today. I'll have to go see what the rest is. (They always announce around the 15th of the month.)

I also don't like an additional ingredients, but then I have never seen spinach as an option.

I was going to hunt around online for you, but the problem is already solved!
-
It has most often happened to me with shoes or boots. Have a pair ya love and wear it to death, go look for a replacement and they aren't made anymore.
-
I was raised on Kraft Mac n Cheese, which is sad now that I've seen the world, but there are times when one still craves the old ways, even if they aren't the best ways.
Organic brand Annie's* makes a good microwaveable Mac n Cheese, which should tell you that though I've now "seen the world" of Mac and Cheese, it doesn't mean I ever have the time to make a homemade one.
*Mildly ironic because Kraft advertisements of the '80s used to feature a precocious girl named Annie who was campaigning to change the product name to Kraft Cheese and Macaroni ("Because it's the cheese that makes it taste so good!")
-
A reminder that throughout Canada, the term for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is "Kraft Dinner."
-
And that takes us to the land of FOUR.
-
Good afternoon.
-
I make mac & cheese with Velveeta. Yes, I know it is a travesty. But Velveeta melts and kids will eat it.
I make a roux with butter, flour, and onions, and add milk. Then turn off the heat and add the cubed Velveeta.
I also need to keep some extra cubes on the counter out of the reach of little fingers that sneak in and steal the cheese cubes off the cutting board.
-
My kids never liked boxed mac & cheese compared to mine. Freyja eats Annie's. I've tasted it and that was enough for me ;D

-
My tastes are so out of synch with the rest of the populace that all I have to do is think of liking a product and it is immediately discontinued.
I think we all have that problem.
-
I used to make boxed macaroni and cheese, but doctor it up with extra cheese and bake it in a real oven, not a microwave oven. I probably got the recipe from a magazine, but it's been so long that I don't remember how to make it.
-
When is opening night for your play, DR Jrand72?

I can see how it would taste much better baking it in the oven with extra cheese.

I use Colby Jack for my mac and cheese.

Now you have me searching for my long lost Pogen's Swedish ginger cookies.
-
All I can find online are comments from others who also miss them, and recipes to make your own.
Years ago we were in Canada and I found Pogen's, under either another label, possibly Kraft or Mother's-can't remember.
-
I tried hard to contact the company to find out if I could get the cookies, but alas they were not helpful. Today with the internet I might have been successful.
-
I read suggestions for other similar cookies, most of which I have tried and wouldn't buy again.
-
The ones I haven't tries are the IKEA Ginger thins VINTERSAGA. Probably because I never go to IKEA ;D
-
IKEA shoppers, have you had or seen these?

It's very possible that my mother's mac and cheese was made with Velveeta, too, because in my earliest years of this thing we call life, that's the only cheese I knew. I thought cheese came in a yellow box. Period. I'd guess my second ever cheese was Swiss, and I wonder what I thought that came in.
Anyway, I have her recipe. It might be half Velveeta and half cheddar, now that I think about it. Whatever it calls for, though, that's what I'll make.
I did eat the Kraft packages and such in my early years living alone, and I always made sure to not let them be too milky or runny. But my return to my former macs and cheeses will be the home recipe. I'll dig it out soon.
-
I've been friends with Dianne for about 49 years since she and I were in The Pirates of Penzance. At the moment my heart breaks for her and I want to wring her neck. This morning she posted that her cat Luna did not come in last night. She just posted that Luna was found killed, presumably by a coyote.
While my heart breaks, I want to throttle her for letting this beautiful kitty be an indoors-outdoors cat.
-
Oh my god, that's horrible. And sad. And infuriating, too, like you said.
Where does she live? Suburbs? Country?
-
Is anybody having trouble with Facebook today? This morning I found it sluggish, but just now I opened it up to see that I have a couple of notifications and something in Messenger, and it tries but won't open up either of those things.
-
Never mind, it's working now. It's just very sluggish.
Oh--it also gave me some ferkakte message about my browser needing to be updated, to which I say BS. In fact, I just checked the App Store, and there are a few things I can update, but Safari isn't one of them.

I got right into futzing and finessing the eighteen pages from yesterday. There were quite a few things to smooth out, lose, add, and move around, but I think it all read fairly well, especially the big section.

I've written about seven new pages.
-
I liked that mac-and-cheese I had yesterday so much that I had it again today - just as good.
-
Taking a little writing break and then will try to write another six pages.

Well, not to get political or anything ;) but I came across this posted on Tribel (and I would assume it's on other medias of social, also):

And now for some actual good news:
16 Young People in Montana Just Won a Historic Climate Lawsuit (https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/08/held-v-montana-climate-change-lawsuit-kids-constitution/)

Good Evening! Today has been trying at best. School prep is fine, there is a small fire that we need to put out soon and it has to do with someone I'm fond of, but it has to be taken care of. The principal and I will talk again tomorrow. In my other world, one of our cast members (and the director as well!) has COVID - so we've all been testing and getting back to the producer with our results - I was negative. So, if another woman tests positive, we can't have a show. We have a male swing but not a female swing. We do have one person that can cover the gal that has COVID, but one more and we won't be able to and perhaps will have to cancel the weekend.
In the meantime, I'm listening to the RCA Broadway Strings and Velvet voices sing songs from No No Nanette (it's on Spotify) - it's very lovely. I do love this score.

Started the third Dave Brandstetter mystery from Joseph Hansen last night. I'm already more than halfway through. They're like popcorn or chips. You can't read/eat just one.
-
A very old woman was croaking But Alive!
I resent the implication I was croaking
-
Is 7 minutes until eleven pm too late to go drive through Taco Bell?
As long as it's still open, it's not late!

Ha!

I am unshaven and shorn-pone.
Me, too, but that will be taken care of tomorrow!

Have written thirteen pages and am needing a break. Will probably write another two later. I have entered the final chapter of this thing. I think I have another thirty pages to go or something close to that.
-
Muse Margaret had called me yesterday saying she wouldn't be able to read the new pages until today, some in the morning, some in the late afternoon. But she never called. I assume I'll hear from her tomorrow. Her days get busy sometimes.
-
I’m busy eating tacos
-
Good night, all.

I got a callback for White Christmas for General Waverly - non-singing role - "Loveable American Loyal Grandfather" - guess I got to work on my old man...

~~~VIBES FOR NO COVID FOR MATTHEW'S CAST AND CREW!!~~~
Interesting. Bradley certainly got his voice down.
Muse Margaret finally called. I'll talk more about it in the notes.
I've done twelve pages so far - thought it was more. I'll do another three before I go to bed.
Mishap seven!
Mary, Marry, Merry Nine!! ;)
So, my friend Shelly just texted me, asking if I was hungry.
-
I am, kinda, so we're going to go to the local Denny's, which is less than a couple of miles away...so, BK, I won't be back before the day changes!
But I will be back. :)
