Well, you've read the notes, the notes were revealing, and now it is time for you to post until the revealing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: KALEIDOSCOPIC!
-
And a very happy heavenly birthday to TCB - we all miss him so much.
-
Yes, it's not the same without Tom. :(
-
Topic of the Day: I've never seen the actual show, but I love the recordings! I have both the original Broadway cast recording (https://castalbums.org/recordings/70-Girls-70-1971-Original-Broadway-Cast/1458/) and the original London cast recording (https://castalbums.org/recordings/70-Girls-70-1991-Original-London-Cast/2541/). :)
-
And on another happy note (F-natural), the Washington Center for the Performing Arts has announced that STOMP (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/stomp-2-20/) is coming back in February! They've come to the WCPA a couple of times before, but I only got to see them the second time. They were fantastic. The one time that I went to NYC in 1995, we saw a special New Year's Eve performance that ended at midnight...so we were not in Times Square when the ball dropped. So, if I get to see them again, this will be the third time.
-
The London and Broadway recordings are only the two (official) recordings of 70, Girls, 70!. That would be cool if there could be another recording made. ::)
;)
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm up and at 'em early today, once again, to take Kristi to her car place and to work.
-
More coffee!
-
TOD
That's a great reveal. I do NOT know the show, but I have both of the cast album CDs here to start listening to in anticipation of hearing all about the production. Congrats to BK & Co.!
-
Let's face it, there's nothing like a good reveal.
-
But now I must take my leave. I wish everyone a very fine Hump Day.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Yesterday was another early day for me, as was Monday, so I decided to sleep late, Unfortunately, I woke feeling puny, as though I am on the verge of becoming actually sick with something. My stomach seems to be on the verge of several eruptios, and that makes me uneasy. I hope it isn't Covid.
-
DR singdaw, I'm happy the Big Move has been accomplished. I hope you find some time to relax today.
-
DR John G, I am sorry to hear about your mother. I hope things turn around for the better very soon.
-
DR Jrand72. I laughed at your comment after telling us you lent your brother money. In the past, whenever I asked my father's company for a loan, Lady Macbeth, who was running the office, wasted no time seeing it was paid back.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Severe heat wave continues here in SW Ohio - perfect for staying in and getting ready to move.
-
David James, my best friend in college, was costume designer's assistant on the original production of 70 Girls 70. He still swears that if David Burns had not died during the out of town tryout, the show would still be running. He said that there wasn't time to reshape the material for Hans Conreid. When I met the delightful Mildred Natwick, I told her I loved her singing the "Elephant Song," which was dropped in London. When I moved to NYC in 1979, I was walking down a street one day when I passed a Santini Brothers moving van. Aha! I thought, where does an elephant go?
I never saw the original production, but I love the CD.
-
Speaking of moving, today is the 50th anniversary of my move to Middletown.
-
Good morning. all.
-
Happy anniversary, Ginny!
-
I love the 70, Girls, 70 score. I think Hit It, Lorraine is just a great song. I wish you much success with it, BK.
-
David Suskind likes big words. What the hell does puerile mean?
-
Dental vibes for DR GEORGE.
-
I do not know from 70 Girls 70 - although I have heard of it. Perhaps I should invest in a CD.
-
Back in a bit.
-
Happy anniversary, Ginny!
Thanks, DR John G! I intended to stay 3-5 years…
-

I started doing quordle and sequence quordle. You have to solve 4 puzzles on the first one. And the sequence one does not let you move to the next puzzle until you've solved the one before it.

TOD:
I bought the cast album way back when, and I know I listened several times. I remember one song: The title song!
-
Speaking of moving, today is the 50th anniversary of my move to Middletown.
Happy Moving Anniversary, Ginny!
-
Yes, I slept well. Dreamed very weird dreams, as it happens.
My strongest memory: I am driving my car and decide to detour to see a new development I had heard about. As I was driving past one spectacular home after another, the road got worse and worse. Think "Appian Way post-Fall-of-the-Roman-Empire" worse.
When I woke up, I wondered if I had damaged my car's tires.
-
Dental vibes for DR GEORGE.
Thanks, Jrand!

Right now, I'm sitting in the chair, all numbed up, waiting for the doctor to finish with another patient.

DR Jane: In reply to your query about yesterday's humidity, let me just say it was so hot that the humidity was rather low.
We haven't had rain in a week, so things are really drying up in the broiling sun.

Coffee in a Cardboard Cup has had some life outside the show. Liza recorded Yes.

The score is part of the Amazon music library, if anyone here uses that resource.
-
I just bought the OBC CD of 70 GIRLS 70 from EBAY.

Happy moving day anniversary DR GINNY.
-
Selling tickets working intermission and then cleaning up the jernt.
Show business is wonderful.
I like to sit outside during the show.....but it may be TOO DARN HOT to do that this evening.

DR John bronchitis can be very difficult to shake, and it can be exhausting. Sending speedy recovery vibes.

From Bruce:
I wasn't sure WHAT to make of dear reader Ron's post to me.
I didn't think he was being snarky at all. It was simply his take on your comments, and then he shared an article that offered some of the details you mentioned were missing in the news. I found it interesting, but then my news here has been more limited.
-
Happy moving day anniversary DR GINNY.
Thanks, DR JRand!

Here's what I think is a very clever put-together of "Yes" (from 70, Girls, 70) and Sondheim's "Everybody Says Don't."

Not intentionally snarky at all. I appreciated your frustration, Bruce. All of that panic buying preceded the storm's arrival. This is true everywhere hurricanes are predicted to "possibly" hit. Stores run out of stuff because everyone knows that if they need something after being hit, it won't be there. Locally, schools are automatically closed and major markets limit the volume of goods folks can buy to avoid such panic buying.
I couldn't tell you all the locations the storm hit, because the news did not say, as you noted. It did affect parts of southern California away from LA.
Weather guessing is just that, sad to say. Our local weather folks tell us what is headed our way but always say the path may deviate from what seems likely at that moment.
Sorry for any ill feelings my post caused.

This morning we got the insurance adjuster's report on the hail damage to our car: $3,600. It appears it will be covered in full by our insurance. But we can't get the car in for 2 months, and it will take over a week. I guess there are a lot of other people here in the same boat. So to speak.
-
Cute, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Good morning.
-
DR Laura how much rain did you get?
I would estimate 25 drops.
And for that we were under severe thunderstorm and flood warnings.
-
Now they are teasing us with rain warnings from the storm that is in Texas.
-
Good Morning - I slept until 10:00am. Guess I was tired. Wednesday is my "official" day off, as I work on the weekend as well. Anyway, there's lots of work for work to be done today, but I'll do it from home. Maybe a bike ride as the weather is looking good, as well as errands first thing.
Vibes to DR Ginny on her move
Vibes to Elmore hoping he feels better!
-
TOD: I only know a few songs from 70 Girls 70 burt the one that always makes me laugh and scratch my head at the same time is "Boom Ditty Boom" - it ended up in a variety show that I played many years ago, and all I can remember is that the performers had hatchets in their hands and they may have been dressed up as Indians. Probably not what it's like in the actual show. LOL

Agreed!
-
After posting that I have both 70 Girls 70 CDs, I went to the shelf where they'd be, and - nothing! - even though my li'l spreadsheet "database" told me I have them. And I also literally remembered having handled them.
Turns out they were in a stack I hadn't even put away yet, from that book sale I went to a month or so ago. Whew! And shame on me. I'm never behind on stuff like that. Life itself might be a shambles sometimes, but my books & music & other such items are always in impeccable order.

There's one major flaw in 70 Girls 70 and that flaw is, I believe, why there haven't been many productions. In the revised script, Thompson addresses it but not fully. We will address it fully - it doesn't require any text changes.

Hello, everyone.

Like Elmore, I’ve been having intestinal issues and also sinus headaches. Ugh! Been taking it easy, staying home and doing little things around the apartment.

Singdaw, your MiL’s new housing sounds ideal. And completely paid for! That’s like winning the lottery. Vibes she makes new friends and is very comfortable there.
-
Vibes to John G’s mother. May she feel better soon.

Sing, I’m pleased to hear that the insurance is picking up the whole bill for the car repair. It sounds like a costly storm.

Good news about Keith! May all remain well.

Health vibes to John G and all the rest of us.

I just read this headline:
"Mississippi police officer who took a 10-year-old to jail for peeing behind his mom's car is now out of a job"
-
Apparently "it was an "error" for the officer to take Quantavious to jail because his mother was there as a "reasonable alternative" to transport him to the police station."
-
Like a ten year old should even know it is illegal to pee in the street ::)
-
At the waiting his mother was just inside an office consulting with a lawyer about getting help enrolling her children in school because of housing displacement.

Something good came out from this. A GoFundMe has raised $1,000 to help her find better housing.

So, last week, I bought a couple of packages of Junket Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream mix from Fred Meyer:
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/7181mtixtEL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_FMwebp_.jpg)
-
You don't need an ice cream maker.
-
You can freeze it...after mixing with milk and cream.
-
Then after it's frozen, you break it up with a fork, mix it with a hand mixer, then refreeze it.
-
Here is my batch after starting to mix it with my hand mixer:
-
Well, there was a popping noise, and then this happened:
-
My mixer broke! :o
-
This is what it looks like where the beaters are supposed to be inserted:
-
You can see that the right side has the notches where the beater is inserted, and the left side doesn't. :P
-
Fortunately, I was able to mix it enough to be ice cream-like, so it'll be fine.
-
Even when I just mixed it and before it was frozen, it certainly tasted pretty good.
-
Proofed 150 pages and then entered those fixes. Only two things to run by Muse Margaret, which I'll do tomorrow. That leaves 160 pages and then I can get the book to the two proofers.

-
This morning I went to work to find the place abuzz
-
One of my coworkers who I mistakenly believed to be on vacation this week is actually in the hospital
-
With shingles
-
Apparently it’s even affected her eyes
-
And she’s covered with blisters
-
Guess who had a shingles shot at CVS this evening?
-
They also threw in a flu shot with the “extra something” for old people
-
Shingles in the left arm
-
Flu in the right
-
My left arm aches somethin* terrible now
-
Although both shots were painless
-

~~~Quick Recovery Vibes for Donna!!~~~
Tomorrow morning, I'm driving my friend Shelky to the hospital for surgery.
-
She's having some more kidney stones removed!
-
She had some taken out last year or the year before, and fortunately these are smaller than the previous ones.
-
Hopefully, it'll all go well and she can get some if her life back.
-
So...
Good night and have a pleasant tomorrow. :)
