Well, you've read the notes, the notes noodled, and now it is time for you to post until the noodling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOPE!

~~~Continued Vibes for a VERY Necessary Modern Major Miracle for BK!!~~~
Today, we're having costume fittings for The Hotel Olympian Gala Extravaganza, so that will be fun. Tonight's also our last rehearsal before we move into the space! We'll get tomorrow night's rehearsal, then an invited preview audience on Friday, then our two performances on Saturday night and Sunday matinee!
-
Then, this fund raiser show will be over...quick and dirty (but not really). AND it's two and a half years late! :o The show is set on the real opening night of July 15, 1920, and was supposed to happen on July 15, 2020, the 100th anniversary, but Covid happened.
-
But now, it's finally happening! I'm sure that it'll be a grand evening.
-
And then this was just announced:
Americans can now get an updated COVID-19 vaccine (https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/health-news/americans-can-now-get-an-updated-covid-19-vaccine/ar-AA1gCxfR?OCID=ansmsnnews11)
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly. I thought, since I'd been up so early the past few days, that I'd sleep well. No such luck.
-
Faithful Thatch stayed with me through it all. DR Laura was so right about him.
-
DR Rodzinski, I still listen to Judy Collins. Several of her early guitar-voice albums have numbers - Eric Anderson's "Thirsty Boots" and "The Cruel Mother," for instance - still move me to tears. She lives in the neighborhood, and I used to see her at Barnes & Noble when I worked there. I owe her and The Chad Mitchell Trio so much for shaping me as an ACLU liberal.
-
DR George, Denis Quilley played the King in the 1999 performances of Jubilee and the BBC broadcast. HE had played Candide in the 1958 London production of the operetta, and he replaced Keith Michel on Broadway in Irma la Douce. I saw him in London in Peter Hall productions of King Lear and Waiting for Godot, and I have him playing Sweeney Todd on a bootleg of an early 1990s broadcast of the musical. He was very friendly and full of gossip when I was at the Jubilee rehearsals.
Since I am not unconscious in surgery this morning, I will spend the day orchestrating the final Charleston for the ballet.
Another weird night.
Dreams centered around being certain someone had boobytrapped my bed to entrap someone other than myself.
I was having conversations with two such folks as to why they did it and what they hoped to acccomplish.
And I was certain that a sharpened object had been secreted in my bed because I actually woke up with stinging pain along my right arm. It was as if something had been dragged along my arm.
I got up and put some salve on it, but that didn't allay my dreams.
After a while, i got up, turned on the lights, rearranged all the covers and pillows and yelled out "ENOUGH!"
That did it, happily.
But, ferpity'ssakes!
Today is Wednesday in this small CSRA town in South Carolina!
CSRA stands for Central Savannah River Area, which encompasses many miles and towns/cities around Augusta GA, and Aiken SC and many other points far and wide.
It is 68 degrees. Brrrrrr! (Not).
-
Today is the Seniors Luncheon as Johnston First Baptist Church.
All are welcome.
It will, however, be minus me and my non-exsistent BBQ meatballs, I still do not trust myself to be around a lot of folks and on my feet. Heaven forbid I cook for anyone.
I called a friend yesterday and 20 minutes into the call, had spoken more words and expressed more opinions that I have in any 1-hour conversation we ever had.
-
I am all medicated/sprayed/inhaled this morning.
"Morning Joe" is in the background and it's quite interesting to hear something other than Trump, Trump, Trump.
They did, however, react/respond to a Washington Post editorial questioning Biden's age fitness to serve another four years. Mika went a bit ballistic on the writer who has been a friend of hers for many years. She takes issue with the unspoken, but obvious, issue that the writer doesn't think Kamala Harris is strong enough to succeed as a president. She brought up all the past VPs who had jokes made about them, and who lived in the shadow of the president, which is that person's job. She wanted to know if her gender was what wasn't being cited as his reasons for questioning Biden's successor.
I am certain she was right.
I'll be on my way in a few minutes to the dentist. Thanks to my benign neglect* through the pandemic, I accumulated enough, um, stuff to require a root scaling and planing. I had one before, some years ago. You're numbed for it and it's not painful, just a pain in the ASS. They used to do one quarter of the mouth at a time, now they do half at a time. Should be fun.
*oh, okay, just plain old neglect
-
Since they have zero information other than the fact that Cavalcante has been arrested without incident, it has not stopped "Morning Joe" from going on and on and on, recounting his trial, his sentence, his escape, and his surveillance camera appearances.
Wille Geist continues to overstate that we don't know more, but....and on and on it goes.
-
It sounds worse than it is. You just get to listen to the dentist doing a lot of scraping. But you walk out of there clean.
Dear DR Elmore, I’m so relieved to hear your cardiology report. Postponing the hip surgery was wise for now, but please don’t put it off until you’re no longer a candidate.
I can't remember where DR John G. is going, but excited to hear about it.
Good Morning! I've been E&T the last few days. Days just keep going faster and faster, everyone does their best to keep up for sure. Nothing much has happened the last few days, although I did take myself to see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" last night and it did not disappoint. I thought it was very well written and had a good storyline, although it's one we've all seen before in other films etc, but I thought it was fantastic. I came home and watched the second movie as well and tonight, I'll probably watch the first movie.
Today - Wednesday - the day off - I'm heading out to get my blood work done and then I'm off to the SF Giants game with the 8th grade this afternoon. It's always a fun field trip and I'm grateful to be included each year.
Thank you, Matthew, for the movie review. I plan to see it, if for nothing but the Greek scenery.
I'm pretty sure I have that broadcast recording of Sweeney Todd.
I also have him on the original recording of Chess and the 1988 London concert cast recording of Mack & Mabel with Debbie (then Shapiro) Gravitte. :)
Mail at post office was totally trashable. Yay!
Stopped at Third Generation at 11 a.m. and got fried chicken, rice and gravy, green beans and unsweetened iced tea.
Very tasty.
DR Rodzkinski: Do you and your family just never eat mayonnaise or do you usually make your own?
I watched a Cook's Country PBS (or America's Taste Kitchen, I forget which) episode where I saw how utterly easy and rewarding homemade mayonnaise can be.
Now, I am not a snob, but I live in "Duke's Mayonnaise" country, and I cannot imagine any being better than Duke's.
Still...
The area in which he was lurking was an area I spent a lot of time with the kids, being just over the border from Delaware. Glad we missed the shenanigans.
Ron, my family wasn’t into mayo and I’ve never lived with anyone who was into it.
For awhile, years ago, I made my own mayonnaise. It was good. Best Foods/Hellman's were equally good so I stopped making it.
I saw one of those "remember when" photos on Facebook about the gas lines.
-
I had to look up the dates to recall exactly when they were.
-
In 1973 we were still in LA and only had one car. I recall they happened and being inconvenienced. Since Keith probably filled up the car during the day while I was at work I don't have strong memories about it.
-
With that in mind I asked Keith if what he remembered about the lines in 1979. He barely remembered which is what I expected. I on the other hand......
-
We had two cars then. Since I was home with Bryan and pregnant with Craig, Keith simply took my car when his needed to be filled. Filling two cars those days and having to keep a kid entertained while waiting in line, yes I remember it well ;D
-
The most memorial experience during that time was not filling the tank but stopping at the gas station, next to the line, to ask a question. I have no clue what the question was, but boy did people yell and me worried I was trying to cut in line.
-
After I left I wondered about the anger directed at a pregnant woman. What if I had an emergency and needed to get to the hospital.
-
I saw one of those "remember when" photos on Facebook about the gas lines.
I was assigned to Vicenza, Italy at that time. While we were able to buy gas coupons at the exchange (gas prices at the tanks were very high in Italy under ordinary circumstances....taxes), the country went on an even-odd system, meaning that if your license number ended in an even number, you could drive every other day.
It worked out fine. I was bike-riding distance from the post, so that is how I (and thousands of Italians, as it were) got around during the crisis.
-
You were very lucky to be in Italy at the time, and able to mostly use your bike. We also went on odd-even system. Fortunately my car and Keith's were the opposite.
All I can tell you, Rodzinski, is that there would be very little for you to eat at a Southern Baptist potluck in Johnston SC.
Does anyone here watch, or have you ever watched, "Dark Mirror".
Geez! Depressing!!
Lots of activity in Georgia today with tons of motions about waiving speedy trials, etc.
And in Florida, the Trump-bot federal judge has taken a month to make a ruling that most judges make in a day.
I remember everyone hatin’ on Jimmy Carter and seeing a bumper sticker that said, “President Carter, Kiss My Gas.” A precursor to the intellectual discourse of the current era.
I do want to clarify that I have experienced mayo out in the world. Just never had it in the home. I also had plenty to eat at annual cane-grinding potluck and Thanksgivings spent in Effingham, Ga. outside of Savannah.
-
I will likely work in a visit to either Sam's Club (which can truly wait another week) or The Fresh Market where I love getting fresh fruits and veggies.
Yes, I know y'all will think the latter more important...and so do I.
