Well, you've read the notes, the notes were posted in the tenth month, and now it is time for you to post until the ten cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VICTORIOUS!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
I really wanted to sleep until eleven, which would have been eight hours, but alas the mind is alive with the sound of ABS (Active Brain Syndrome), basically about the set design - I'm completely rethinking what I originally wanted - not completely but just revising it to create more space and no danger for our older cast members. The concept remains the same.
-
From DR Singdaw:
Today, at mid-day, my mother-in-law was transferred by ambulance from the hospital to home hospice care at the home of one of her sons.
I'm glad she was in the comfort of her family when she passed.
-
DR Singdaw, my deepest condolences to you and your family.
-
68686, good one DR Vixmom.
-
The cut-up for the old t-shirt is interesting. Sherlock was big enough we simply put one of my t-shirts on him ;D
-
I've only ever used a cone once. To the shock of the vet, she pulled it off. Fortunately this extremely intelligent dog knew to leave the stitches alone.
-
From DR Jrand:
When I was a wee tyke - my grandparents would give us all of their old Readers Digest magazines.
I liked some of the articles but especially the little anecdotes.
DR JANE's story about the birthday card reminded me of this one:
I am glad I reminded you of the Readers Digest little anecdotes :)
-
From Jrand:
A woman realized on December 16, that she had neither purchased nor mailed any Christmas cards.
She rushed to the store and bought three packages of the only cards they had left.
She hurriedly signed them, addressed the envelopes, and rushed them to the post office.
She was feeling very good about her accomplishment until she picked up the one card left and read it:
This little card is just to say -
[Inside]:
A gift you'll love is on the way!
LOL, I'm glad my card story had a better ending.

Once home the birthday girl returned home and opened the second gift, a Squishmallow Squish Hooded Throw, she liked it.

Her mother send us a funny photo of her wearing it :)

The older sister, the one Bruce met in Portland years ago, is now in high school :o

I personally think 9th grade is too young for high school.

I personally think 9th grade is too young for high school.
My middle school was 7th and 8th grade, and high school was 9th through 12th.
-
As far as I know, that's the way it's always been around here.

Cute fruit.

And...

In Canada where the kids go, it’s K-7. Then 8-12 is secondary school. (Except there is a province where kids went to 13th grade, but I guess that has been phased out.)
-
Yesterday we had a lunch with an old friend of my mother in law who has convinced me to be in a fashion show she is putting together for her retirement community. Should be fun.
-
Then we planned to go to Costco but the border waits were long, so we went around to a more rural border then figured we’d eat at our fave spot in Bellingham. That was fine but it turned out Costco closes at 6 on Sat. Is that common? So we did our damage at Fred Meier instead.

This is a three-day weekend in Canada for a Day of Reconciliation to reflect on and atone for the native kids that were stolen from their families.

I personally think 9th grade is too young for high school.
My middle school was 7th and 8th grade, and high school was 9th through 12th.
Now it is middle school most places, for me it was Jr. High which was 7th through 9th grade.

Wow, those are big schools, or fewer students making them not so big.

Fun indeed. I hope there will be photos.

I found this online:
"Why does Costco close at 6 on Saturday?
Costco has to smooth out there shift resources. Closing earlier than most stores on the weekends not only limits costs due to shift differential but forces people to shop on weekdays after work. This helps to smoothout the inventory flow while saving on labor."

I hope people do someone aside from having fun.

PAGE TWO!
-
Speaking of Costco....
-
Even though it is a weekend we are going today.
-
We prefer to go on weekdays.
-
I may try for a nap when I get home and after I eat something.
-
The something is unknown - not sure at all what I feel like, although I can always go for the Art's tri-salad thing and I do have one more meal at 50% off via UberEats.
-
This is a three-day weekend in Canada for a Day of Reconciliation to reflect on and atone for the native kids that were stolen from their families.
A worthy endeavor.
-
Heading off to another family gathering this afternoon/evening.
-

Sadly yes. It closes at 6 on Saturdays.
-
Here in Tumwater (I don't know about anywhere else), Costco used to close at 7:00 on Saturdays. :-\
-
While Costco was rather busy, we easily found parking and the check-out line moved quickly.
-
Crazy busy day.
-
Continued vibes for DR singdaw & family.
-
I think DR RODZINSKI has a great future in runway modeling and should make it a career goal.
-
Meeting with the set designer's done. He was going down a slightly more complicated road - not bad ideas but too busy for me - I basically want a large open space with a bandstand all the way up center and then everything would operate within that. I'm setting the whole show in the once lovely but now seen better days ballroom of the hotel.
-
And then of course there is the old joke:
These trousers are like the Astor Hotel.
No ball room.
-
No groaning allowed at HHW.
-
Anti-groan!
-
Page 2 still. Quite unsavory.
-
And no check-in from Larry. I do hope he’s doing okay.
-
Tough one for the Colts today, JRand. They did such a good job coming back.
-
Canadian schools are smaller, at least in the town near us. And several classes are split. Teachers teaching 2nd and 3rd graders in one class, for instance.
-
They had an open house the other day and we learned one class still can’t find a teacher for it.
-
Imma try and get us to page 3.
-
No matter how much I have to bore you.
-
I found a doctor who makes house calls here, so that’s happening tomorrow.
-
I have only the vaguest early memory of a doctor coming by our house when I was a kid, to see one of my sisters. Then quickly housecalls faded away.
-
Just as the milkman stopped coming by. The silver box on our porch disappeared.
-
And for my little sis, we had a cloth diaper delivery service. Ah the old days, the old ways…
-
PAGE the THIRD.
-
Achievement unlocked, as the kids say.
-
Currently listening to Joni Mitchell’s Blue on vinyl.

LOL, ditto.

That is a better scenario than the school being too large.
-

Not good. Do you know how teachers salaries compare to US teachers?
-

Your home or your in-laws?
-
I remember all the house calls my father used to make, especially during the night.
-
His exchange service always knew where he was and how to reach him.
-
Often when we were out to dinner he had to take a call, and there were those moments of tensions before we knew he didn't have to leave to make a housecall.
-
I always said I wouldn't marry a doctor.
-
Instead I married a traveling salesman.
-
And went from the frying pan into the fire ;D
-
And then of course there is the old joke:

It's BK's fault...for once.

No ball room.
Reminds of a joke in Shucked: If I had a crystal ball, I’d walk a lot different.

Something I ate is not agreeing with me.

Back from the family gathering.
-
Which was really nice.
-
It was sort of a wake.
-
Combined with a pool party.
-
I did not swim.
-
But many foodstuffs were consumed.
-
Healing conversations were had.
-
The beginnings of some arrangements were hammered out.

Quite unseemly.

I blame Tiler Peck.
-
It was warm enough today to have to cancel the Marathon.
-
However, the building's A/C consdensers are on the fritz.
-
Making our interiors quite uncomfortable.
-
Fortunately, we were not here for much of the day.
-
But it is warm and will make for pretty uncomfortable sleeping tonight.
-
Damn them all to h#$@.
-
At the gathering, my niece insisted on giving me "angel hair."
-
Which means that I am sporting some sparkly electric blue hair extensions.
-
Which I am assured makes me chic and happening and with it.
-
I wonder if they will ever come out.
-
Or if I will just have to become accustomed to being chic permanently.
-
Something I ate is not agreeing with me.
I hope you feel better soon.
-
Healing conversations were had.
I'm glad. Sending hugs and more vibes.
-
I am willing to make this sacrifice.

:)
-
I finished reading Flying Fish by Dick Francis. I do enjoy his books.
-
Just as I finished reading it, a new book arrived from the library.
-
I love when the timing is perfect.
-
Tonight I will begin reading The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman.
-
It is the forth book in the Thursday Murder Club series.
-
We are having popcorn tonight.
-
'night

Something I ate is not agreeing with me.
Maybe you need a new argument? ::)
I can chuckle at that.
-
Almost to five.
-
I’m feeling slightly better.
-
But I am home now and lying back.
-
Five!
-
I have no water. There seems to be a break on the street.
-
It’s bigger than the one in front of my house a few months back.
-
I finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It was quite touching. And truthful. No wonder some people want it banned.
-
Tonight I will begin reading The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman.
I am 80% through this. It is just as sweet and hilarious as the previous three installments.
-
I have no water. There seems to be a break on the street.
I hope that this is being attended to. Sheesh!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Hello, Jeanne!
-
I am bushed.
-
Heading to bed.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I’m sorry for the loss of your MIL, Sing, but glad she died peacefully.
Vibes of comfort to all of you.
-
Water restoration vibes to John G.
-
I read that Richard Osman has the first book of a new series coming out next year. The TMC books are being made into movies, which may start production as early as this December, with a release date about a year later. Osman says there will be more TMC books. You can tell he really loves those characters ( as do many of us).
-

Oh, no!

Yikes! :o

I tried a new Indian restaurant tonight. It was not the best. Covid destroyed so many restaurants, including my favorite. I feel it’s only fair to give some of the older, not-favorites another try, too, as they may now have new staff. So much has changed.
-
Hi, George!
-
What are you reading these days?
-
I have no other news.
TTFN.

Bummer.
-
There’s a new Robert Galbraith/J.K. Rowling mystery coming up too.
-
And a new Lisbeth Salander, the first written by a woman.
-
My goodness, I woukd have sworn I posted here this morning, but apparently not
-
I didn’t even Wordle today
-
So let’s get that out of the way and then we can chat

So I went to church today and it was my turn to be assisting minister
-
We also had a dearth of parishioners
-
We had a baptism which usually fills the place but the baptism party was about 20 people and the rest of the parishioners were less than 40
-
And the weather had changed for the better , finally stopped raining
-
The baptism baby was not pleased by the ceremony at all , he screamed bloody murder when the water touched his head
-
But he was happy again once back in his mama’s arms
-
DR singdaw, my condolences to Jayson and you, and all of Jayson's family.
-
After the service I reset for the next service where there was to be a double baptism, twins, a boy and a girl
-
A blur of a day, this Oneth of October!
Slept late, had my Zoom chat, watched TV, napped, watched more TV.
Had a salad for lunch and pizza for din-din.
-
But I didn’t stay to see them
-
I went to deliver communion to “my” three shut ins then picked up a sausage and egg and cheese on roll for Vixdad
-
Winding down now.
BK's editor Marshall Harvey is relaxing in a first-class hotel on the island of Capri this evening.
He has many wonderful things to see and do this coming week.
Next Sunday, he may Zoom with my group from Rome.
-
Then I came home and Vixdad had his sandwich and I made myself lunch
-
I was right in the mood for turkey, Muenster cheese, guacamole on a sesame seed brioche roll
-
I know…again.
-
But it was wonderful
-
Vixdad needed to get something from Michaels so I went along for the ride
-
Then we took a little stroll through the Barnes and Noble
-
Then we went to the family owned homemade ice cream shop we love for a little snack
-
Vixdad had cherry vanilla
-
I had mocha chip
-
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
Then we went to Lowes
-
We ended up , somehow , in a long conversation about cars from the 1960’s and 70’s with an employee about our ages.
-
It was quite pleasant
-
Then we came home
-
I suddenly remembered I needed to return two blouses I had bought on Anain but didn’t care for upon arrival
-
They have this lovely new returns policy whereby you bring your items to a local Kohls or other participating retailer, show them your return code on your phone , and they take the items, back and return them to Amazon
-
No need to box therm up and bring them to the post office
-
It’s very convenient, especially since the Kohls is less than a mile from my house.
-
Also kohls gives out a 20% off coupon when you bring in returns
-
Then I went to my Mom’s and had a short visit there
-
Then home again, home again, jiggity jig
-
Page seven
-
The forbidden page
-
Good night, all.
-
I found a doctor who makes house calls here, so that’s happening tomorrow.
Your home or your in-laws?
For me at my house!
-
Yesterday I made a meatloaf and roasted potatoes for dinner
-
When my sister worked at Kohl’s years ago and let me use her employee discount, it was like getting free clothes.
-
There was enough leftover for dinner tonight
-
It was lovely

What sort of discount do the employees get?
-
Continuous vibes and prayers of comfort for Singdaw and Jayson
-
I remember Doctor house calls up until I was 9 or 10
-
Now my Uncle John is getting hospice treatment at his house. The family gets smaller. John married my dad’s sister. They’ve been sweethearts since they were about 12. No joke. Coincidentally, my mother knew John since 2nd grade. John once had the largest paper route in Hammond, Ind.
-
When my sister worked at Kohl’s years ago and let me use her employee discount, it was like getting free clothes.
What sort of discount do the employees get?
It was like 50% off even the most discounted stuff.

Yeah gotta figure some stuff out.
-
Oh dear, health vibes for our Dear Rodzinski
-
I think I’m going to toodle off to bed
-
Good night
-
Let it be known far and wide and wide and far: I do not care for page seven.
-
Had lox and bagels for food - very good.
-
Very zonked out for most of the day - slept a bit on the couch.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Interesting events o' the day in terms of the drama I wrote about in the notes. I'll talk about it in the new notes.
-
Hi, George!
Hello, Jeanne!
-
Sorry I missed you!
-
What are you reading these days?
I'm reading Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes.
-
It's going to take me a long time to read this one.
-
I started reading it on July 26, 2023 (according to Goodreads), but I'm only 25% of the way through (according to my Kindle).
-
::)
-
First night of White Christmas rehearsals! We did a read-through, it's a super talented cast. Lots of work ahead of us. It will be fun, The gal playing Martha opposite me is really great. It's going to be fun working along side her.

So, I went to my friend Kyle's house tonight to record the first podcast that he envisions us doing.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And George? Down some rabbit hole since ten-thirty???
-
Stuffing his face with free tacos?
-
He invited his friend Loucas (that's spelled correctly and it's pronounced just like "Lucas") who was in Kyle's Broadway Olympia Productions production of Songs for a New World about four years ago.
-
We just sat around a microphone attached to his computer and talked for about an hour.
