Well, you're read the notes, the notes were sleepy, and now it is time for you to post until the sleeping cows come home.

And the word of the day is: FELICITOUS!

Good morning, friends.

~~~RECUPERATION VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!!
TOD:
Call me a hothouse flower. My palate can't take much spicy heat at all.
-
Notes spiced. Diced.
-
I do not like much spice at all. Never understood the value of burning my tongue.
-
Woke with a bit of a tummy ache of my own. Unusual.
-
Hope you feel better soon, DR Rodzinski.
-
Interestingly, my Ancestry DNA results confirm that I am genetically disposed to NOT liking spicy food.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This new computer keeps acting up, and I am not amused.
-
Another bad night of sleep. I am not happy about this.
-
I expect Mexican food to be spicy, and I like Indian and spicy Chinese food, but that's where the line stops.
-
I first saw Scrooge at a revival house on Eighth Avenue and 49th Street around 1986 or so. After I had watched maybe 30-45 minutes of it, I decided I detested it and walked out. About six month ago, I watched the entire mess on Amazon Prime. I didn't detest it, I just thought the songs were pretty mediocre and the film was a hyper-inflated mess trying to be another Oliver!
-
Today I must edit the other number from Seance on a Wet Afternoon and make plans to get it to Joshie.
-
I don’t “do” spicy.
About a year ago a friend, appalled to learn I never had Indian food, took me to an authentic Indian restaurant.
I ordered something “mild”…my face turned red, I was sweating , my nose was running, my eyes were streaming, tears running down my cheeks.
-
My friend, thinking the dish had been made wrong took a taste and was shocked that it was indeed, in his words, “ not the least bit spicy”
-
The server, took one look at me, whisked the p,ate away and said it would be remade with NO spice…
I still couldn’t bear it .
-
She brought me plain yogurt which I gratefully ate
-
Never again.
-
I am feeling rested and rejuvenated.
Currently finishing a piece of toasted brioche with a schmear
I wondered if you were going to go into work today.
Now I have my answer.
And I didn't have to phone a friend.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I like spicy foods — a lot. I don’t like ghost peppers or spices on steroids.
-
I earned leather tongue status and had my picture on the wall of a now-defunct hot sauce business down in Port Aransas.
-
I used to order Thai food so hot the server would hold the sizzling dish at arm’s length.
-
Now I just order it one step below highest heat level.
-
Good morning, all.
I guess I fall somewhere between the majority of y’all and DR John G. when it comes to spicy food. I definitely like it, but not to extremes.
In Mexican food, a little jalapeño is fine but I don’t want it overwhelming a dish, partly because I don’t love the flavor itself. A medium or medium-hot salsa or pico de gallo is ideal. In Chinese, I know to stay away from the little hot peppers. (Are those ghost peppers, or similar?) A touch of Chinese mustard is fine, but only a touch here and there. I don’t know a lot of Thai foods or even Indian foods, but I think I’ve been okay going with people’s suggestions and cautions.
I just read a couple of descriptions of ghost peppers, and I’m amazed that fast food places would even push them so nonchalantly. Based on this discussion, I wouldn’t even try that variety now. FYI, in this house, Kristi can tolerate little more than a taste of anything spicy, while Nathan would probably gobble up those ghost peppers and ask for more.
I just got a lovely message on Facebook from Frances Sternhagen's son Paul. He said that after too many years of dementia, the family was happy that she was free. My heart goes out to him and his brother Tony. They both inherited their mother's talent.
-
I went to see Scrooged on its first release and have remembered almost nothing about it since. I kind of recall being somewhat restless watching it. Maybe it deserves another chance? I’ve wondered that a few times over the years but have never made a move on it.
As for that Scrooge musical, I am heartened to find others who share my reaction to it. I’ve never been able to watch it, and I once subbed playing a rehearsal for one of those kids scenes that I believe put me off it for life. I even told one director of a would-be production that I actively disliked the couple of songs I was slightly familiar with. I always assumed I would be alone in this, but perhaps I’m not.
-
DR Elmore’s reaction and description are more generous than mine, but yes, that Oliver aspect kills it right off the bat for me.
-
Feeling better vibes for MR BK.
Important envelope vibes as well.
-
I am excited about the release of TWO NEW CD's from Kritzerland and THE BOOK being sent out soon!
-
DR VIXMOM I am so grateful that you are feeling better and give kudos to VIXDAD and your care team for their quick action!
TOD:
Put me in the same boat with our 42% British & Northern European DR singdaw.
I cannot eat spicy and avoid them with alacrity.
Sometimes even too much ONION in a dish sets me off.
And now for my Bear King news.
A friend's brother passed away and he has to go out of town, so his role that is scheduled to be filmed on Saturday - for the PBS series A Generation At War - has been offered to me.
I snapped it up. It is a non speaking role in which I as the President of the Indiana Delegation react to the ramblings of A.C. Stevenson, whoever that is - although I know the actor playing him.
I do not think they had the EYEROLL in 1861, but we shall see what happens.
Three hours of filming on Saturday morning - just the two of US! I may get a close up!
-
Preview vibes for DR MATTHEW.
-
From DR Rodzinski:
Washington state enhanced drivers license gets us through the border. Doesn’t work at airports though.
Thanks. I am glad it works as it should. We have flown to Canada and used our passport but not driven there since getting the enhanced licenses.
-
Interestingly, my Ancestry DNA results confirm that I am genetically disposed to NOT liking spicy food.
;D
-
My friend, thinking the dish had been made wrong took a taste and was shocked that it was indeed, in his words, “ not the least bit spicy”
That is why we never trust anyone, including our sons, to tell us food isn't spicy ;D
-
DR Vixmom the secret to ordering Indian food is to say NO spice :)
-
The server, took one look at me, whisked the p,ate away and said it would be remade with NO spice…
I still couldn’t bear it .
The heat was in your mouth. You should have been given a milk based food to cut the heat.
-
She brought me plain yogurt which I gratefully ate
I guess you were-lol
When ordering Thai food we say NO heat.
I have my passport renewal all set to take to the post office. I hate that in order to renew a perfectly good passport has to be sent along with the paperwork and money leaving one stranded without a passport.
-
Tecnically you are not permitted to travel internationally six month prior to the expiration date, it really expires sooner than the date on the passport.
-
That six month time period would be cutting it close for me as we hope to travel around then. As a result I am renewing my passport 14 month prior to the expiration date ::)
DR Jrand72 - very sorry about your friend's loss.
Very excited about your acting opportunity. PBS!!! I should increase my pledge.
Ghost pepper wasn't even known as a thing until a year ago. Apparently, on TikTok, there was a ghost pepper challenge, where idiots ate the spice in spoonfuls. We really have turned into a nation of almost complete morons - present company excluded, of course.
Regretfully, I must correct DR Jrand73 on one detail.
(You see, when someone on the internet is wrong, it is a good citizen's duty to correct them.)
Sometimes even too much ONION in a dish sets me off.
No, sir, I'm sorry, but there's no such thing as too much onion.
We trust the mistake won't happen again, and we thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
I just read a couple of descriptions of ghost peppers, and I’m amazed that fast food places would even push them so nonchalantly. Based on this discussion, I wouldn’t even try that variety now. FYI, in this house, Kristi can tolerate little more than a taste of anything spicy, while Nathan would probably gobble up those ghost peppers and ask for more.
On a scale of 1 to 10, those dried red peppers are about a 0.5 while ghost peppers are an 11.
Great news on the filming, JRand.
Almost nine hours into Barbra. I’m glad I am listening to it because of the recordings of songs that are used.
-
Burger King has (or recently had) a Ghost Pepper Whopper and as spicy as it is, it's really good. I don't like things to be too spicy, but maybe because it's fast food, I like the Ghost Pepper Whopper.
Texas representative Troy Nehls just gave a dumbass support for Santos.
-
Santos and Trump are standard bearers for the New GOP: corrupt, lying con artists, grifters, thieves, hypocrites, and whores.
In his Santos defense scumbag Matt Gaetz's voice rises the more agitated he gets. At this moment only dogs can hear him.
I forgot to purchase global stamps at the post office ::)
-
I was too focused on getting my passport renewal mailed and filling out the priority three day envelope instead of the overnight envelope I walked in with.
-
Now part of the money I saved in postage between to overnight vs three day priority will go to shipping global stamps from the website. I really don't want to return to the post office for a few stamps.
-
After the post office we went to Costco. We don't plan on returning until next year.
How bad was the line at the Post Office, DR Jane, with all the people mailing their holiday packages?
Only two quick people in front of me. After I filled out the new envelope I needed to wait half a minute for the person at the counter to finish. I didn't see any other people. There was only one nice person working the counter.
-
I guessed that today would be the last quiet day before the rush. Thankfully I was correct.
Good news DR JANE.
Thank you. I think you are referring to my Post Office trip.
My friends went to NY to see Purlie Victorious. Hillary Clinton was there and said that Eleanor Roosevelt attended the original play. She said the previous First Lady remarked that all Americans should see the play. To me that sounds like something Eleanor Roosevelt would have said. She was a remarkable woman.
I'm not sure how anyone but a complete moron could have the temerity to support George Santos. That's how far the Republican party has fallen.
-
And why hasn't there been a vote yet? They need to get him out of there. Can you even imagine if Santos had been a Democrat? You think there'd be all this support and speechifying - they'd have him out of there in less than ten seconds.
Exactly! Look at what Al Frankin did, and he resigned...totally unnecessarily, but honorably.
Back from picking up one important envelope - the most important, and hopefully the other will be there tomorrow.
Then I went to the theater and cleaned up a few things, after which I left them to run the show.
Good night, all.
-
Good night, John.
-
So this past weekend, the topic of the day was about putting ranch dressing on pizza, and I mentioned putting "goop" on my pizza in high school.
-
Well, I happened to go to Eagan's last week and got some extra goop for my tater tots and didn't eat it all while there, so I brought it home.
-
Tonight, I had an Atkins frozen pizza (single serving) and here it is with said goop:
-
I will admit that the pizza itself was not too good. :-\
-
It had been in my freezer for far too long, so the crust was hard and the cheese that was made for the pizza was really dry.
-
I added the nice looking cheese (Monterey Jack) which helped, but not really enough. ::)
-
But the goop was pretty good...as usual.
-
Looks horrific.
-
Just 20 posts to get to page 7
-
Can it be done?
-
Before BK’s itchy trigger finger advances us to tomorrow?
-
Looks horrific.
Looks can be deceiving...or, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)
Goop really is tasty.
Posts were taking forever to load for a bit there. Not sure if the problem was on my end.
-
Or my beginning.
-
Now we are within range of BK’s closing series “New notes are up” etc.
-
So p7 is assured
-
I can now feel I’ve done something of value with my life.
-
Speaking of mashup ideas, back in the early 1990s (I think), a couple of friends had taken a trip to NYC with a group of theater kids, and they went to one of the many (at the time) piano bars where they let patrons perform.
-
They made up some story about how they had had an act years ago and just wanted one last time to perform it.
-
Right on the spot, they made up an impromptu medley called, "The Sound of Music Man of La Mancha." ;D
-
I imagine goop is good.
-
They totally improvised the whole thing on the fly!
-
They came back from their trip and at a party they performed pretty much what they did in NYC and not only was it really funny, it really was just really very good!
-
Sounds potentially hilarious
-
And now...
-
MY 130000th Post!! :D
-
Did they mash up songs within the mashup?
-
Like “Follow every rainbow till you find your dream an impossible dream”?
-
Whoa!! HUGE post millstone! Congratu-damn-lations, G!
-
Did they mash up songs within the mashup?
No, the songs were just the songs from each of those shows, but how they went from song to song to song, and not just all the songs from each show in show order, made it funny.
-
Captured for all time!
-
They were both really good actors, so they knew how to play it all up.
I met a couple random girls in NYC and we kept meeting up over the three nights they were visiting and on the last night we went to Don’t Tell Mama’s and I did a mashup of They Call the Wind Mariah and Bobby Sherman’s Julie Do Ya Love Me? that I’m still proud of. (Their names were Mariah and Julie, naturally).
