Well, you've read the notes, the notes rambled but smelled like a rose, and now it is time for you to post until the rambling cows come home.

I had a very vivid and weird dream. I decided to take a job for a couple of years at a large newspaper in the Deep South. I knew some people who worked there. There was a huge party the day before I started. Mom was there. A lot of people worked for USAA and they were all trying to talk to me while I was trying to get drinks for Mom and an obnoxious Southern white woman. The Southerners were driving me crazy. It merged in part with a recurring dream I have had about work.

Featuring Jeannette Nolan, Otto Kruger, Don Dubbins, Connie Hines, AND BURT REYNOLDS with his real hair.  He was very handsome.  I hope he and Raymond Burr had fun filming the episode.

I remember Burt Reynolds from Riverboat and Gunsmoke.

On the Tonight Show he told the story that he once had to strike a match on his backside to light a cigarette on Gunsmoke, but he couldn't make it work.

So they put a square of sandpaper back there.....and he said it opened a whole new world of possibilities for him...LOL.

I had a most peculiar dream last night but I can no longer put it together. I think I went to have dinner with the original conductor of the NYC Gay Men's Chorus, but I took long a bag of laundry, mostly sheets, and Annabelle and Thatch, who were small kittens. I kept worrying that I had left an electric fan running in my parents' house and it might be a fire hazard. My brother - Randy? - showed up and i had  to get the cats into the bag to take them with me. I think there was a fire. I can't remember now.

I've wondered whether they'd been getting at rumors of Burt Reynolds being gay in this "Streetcar Named Desire" parody on "Sonny and Cher"

Sonny kisses Burt goodnight (on the head) and Cher seems to be trying not to crack up.

And speaking of seeing, no, I hadn't yet issued my repor on the second surgery. It went fine, as before, and I checked out really well on my follow-up with the doctor yesterday. One more checkup next week, and then I think I'm on my own for a while. In a month or so I'll go back to my optometrist for a routine check, and to get a nice pair (or two) of quality reading glasses. But the drugstore ones are working fine in the meantime.

Vixmom -- oh my, what a rude awakening. Just what you needed!

I had a similar rude awakening back around 1999 or 2000 on a visit to Cincinnati. DR Ginny will probably know where I'm talking about -- I was at a Red Roof Inn on the north side of town that I believe was near Sharon Road. I don't recall having to leave my room, it was some kind of disturbance among other guests in the middle of the night that they had to call the cops for. Most unseemly. My brief, very brief, history with Red Roof in a couple of locations is a testament to ... something or other.

I started my day with a trek to North Augusta SC to visit Covenant Family Allergy Clinic to get my first shots of Dupixent.

I received two pens yesterday, so I took them with me.  The shots were administered in the back of each arm and stung, stung, stung like nobody's business!!!

I rewarded myself, following the 30-minute wait I had before leaving, by going to Taco Bell for a Nachos Supergrande and a Baja Blast.

Because the VA sent me only two pens...and both were required for the first treatment...I visited my reorder site to see if more pens had been mailed to me.  I could not ascertain that they had, so I called, and was told the pens I had were all I would get for a month.

I explained to them that I was required to have two initial shots, and then I must do injections every two weeks.  I was either talking to someone unaware of how Dupixent is administered or some foul-up has occurred as I was told I could reorder no earlier than February 4.  My next injection should be on February 9, so there is a disconnect.

Am trying to sort it out with the prescribing physician who must go through the VA's community care office and clarify things for them.

Sigh.

Meantime, my arms are both sore, but oh, well.

Didn't every young boy have a pet monkey in the 1950s and 1960s?

I knew a young girl who did.

Was it well behaved?

She had to give it away when it got older.  I think it didn't behave so well then.  I had no interest in monkeys as a child and didn't pay it much attention.

Now, let's get to the second SNAFU of the day:

American Express called and left a message that I must call them ASAP.

Why?

Well, first I had to do an identity check for them.  Once they knew I was me, I was told that someone had tried to use my card on January 18th to place a food order with Shopify (in Canada!!!).

On January 18, as it turns out, I had placed an online order with MiLa Chinese food company, for dumplings and noodles (I love their product).   Is it only a coincidence that MiLa is in Washington state and that the attempted food order was on the same date as the order I placed with them?  Happily, AMEX did not accept that particular order since it was for food delivery and I am in South Caroline whereas the food was going to be delivered to someone in Washington state!!!

All that said, my American Express card will now be replaced.  Sigh.  They are also implementing more stringent security measures, which means I will likely get refusals of payment until i verify, via text message, that it is me using the card.

Sigh.  Not ideal for "online" orders, but it safeguards my credit line.

I may be wrong, but I believe the decision to cut the Minstrel from the "revised" script was made before the role was cast.

That makes sense.  It would be too obvious if that decision was made after casting, and would probably take too much time to adjust everything before they actually started performances.

These haven't really left me all day, so here's an attempt to sketch out last night's dreams:

1 - I've gone downstairs to leave this high-rise building that's apparently one of several in this school or college in south Florida, in the Miami area. It's morning, and I see one person in the lobby, a girl who I think can either help give me directions, but she instead wants to hand me some kind of religious newspaper or some such. I don't take it, but when I get outside I see the other similar buildings and now there are college kids all around the place giving out similar papers. I decide I'll have to find my own way off the campus, which shouldn't be any real problem, and that I'll just have to walk all the way there... "there" being the part of town in Fort Lauderdale where our house and my high school were. Now it's night, and I figure I can fast-walk it and get there by morning.

2 - Then, a whole separate dream later in the night - I've arrived at whatever college this is, and have just been directed to the dorm room I've been assigned. There are people all around, including milling about my room which is like a small apartment with two bedrooms. None of these people, however, are my assigned roommate, and I want to make sure I pick the best room for myself. The building is large and round, with lots of white walls and glass with the individual units' walls at interesting angles. I pick the large bedroom, as the other one is very tiny and narrow. Then I'm walking out into the corridor to go to the lobby and Iook for someone who can give me a map showing the lobby and corridors and the location of my room, etc. I keep looking back to check where I came out of, and it becomes one of those dreams in which I rather rapidly lose my way in a large public place (which by the way rarely happens to me in real life). And then I wonder why I'm going through all of this, and I realize I could simply get a refund and leave, or even just forfeit the refund which I'm thinking was two-hundred-and-some dollars, before I get any deeper into this.

The third dream was fairly pedestrian, mostly concerning the anticipated visit from the insurance adjuster.

The End

Watching Hitchcock’s The Ring, a silent film about boxing and sideshow freaks. Just saw Siamese twins. There are several racially insensitive scenes so far. The opening has crowds paying to throw eggs at a black man in blackface. Then, at a wedding, we see a black man, as ring bearer, pick his nose before trying to find the ring.

The ladies free skate is over.  Isabeau Levito and Amber Glenn were only .4 apart after the short program, and they kept building up to the final two skates which would decide which would win.

Amber did great until her final three jump passes...and she doubled a triple, singled a triple and doubled a triple again.  She was devastated.  She was in the lead when Isabeau took the ice, but she had left the door "wide open" as Johnny Weir said in a gasp!

Isabeau then skated one of the worst programs of her life, fell three times and finished third overall, with Amber Glenn winning the title because of Isabeau's mistakes.  A young skater with last name of Lee won the Silver.

All in all, par for the national figure skating championships!!

Now I am sorry we didn't go to See's yesterday and get peanut brittle.

There's a temporary See's Candy store at Capital Mall right now.  If I was going to get anything, I'd first go to Costco to see if they have gift cards for See's for 20% less than the value.

Is it all pre-packaged items or is there a regular candy counter with individual items?

I only walked by it once, but it looked like it was all prepackaged. :-\

Oh, my! :o

Donald Trump must pay an additional $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll in defamation case, jury says (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/jury-says-donald-trump-must-pay-an-additional-83-3-million-to-e-jean-carroll-in-defamation-case/ar-BB1hhDmc?OCID=ansmsnnews11)

And what are the odds she, or the lawyers will see any money.

Anything's possible, but it will be appealed.

Had to get a new key for the car today. My old one was falling apart. The new one cost $85. Ouch.

Is that all??  The MSRP for my car is $172.08! :o

Doesn't every brass mouthpiece need a clip-on mustache?

Wow...what a turn of skating events! :o
