Well, you've read the notes, the notes paid a visit, and now it is time for you to post until the visiting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ALACRITY!
-
Notes judged. Absolved.
-
I once won a young lady’s heart when I signed a letter to her, “Yours, with alacrity,”
I don’t even know if I even knew at the time what the word meant, but it worked pretty well for me.
-
Need to get BK an extra sip of wine next New Year’s to get the Jane K stories out of him.
-
I was helping my cousin move apartments once in Williamsburg, and I was riding a short distance sitting atop some boxes in the back of a pickup truck, stopped at a corner, when who walked past, but a luminous Jane Krakowski. She smiled. Life was good.

Agreed! ;D
-
I still also recall her entrance in Nine.

That's pretty cool, Rodzinski!

I miss that aspect of life in the city.
-
Congrats, BK, on the lovelier than lovely modern major miracle! :D
-
And now for something completely different. Here's:
Never Gonna Give You Up...but it's a fugue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=V5JNdZsDW7SIi3Yl&v=HMWWAcEgpdA)
-
;D
-
And that video led me to this from another YouTuber:
Rickroll Variations: "Never Gonna Give You Up" but it's a classical piano concerto (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOi4Ao40IYA)
-
Of course I suspect if I click on either of those, it’s going to be a regular rickroll.

I guess German Shepherds aren’t the right breed to live in the White House. This is the second German Shepherd that the Bidens’ needed to give up. They had no alternative.
Sometimes I wonder if those dogs had superior intuition. Perhaps they knew something that we didn’t.
Sad either way.
-
Congrats on the modern major miracle, BK!
-
Jane Krakowski and I lived in the same complex when she was performing in NINE.
I frequently saw her late at night, arriving home after her performance.
She was lovely, gracious, and glowing.

I still also recall her entrance in Nine.

Good morning, friends.

I was unable to access this here site to bid everyone a good night last night.

DR Ron Pulliam, the missing "t" was intentional. Ask DR ChasSmith or DR Jrand73 about that.

~~~FEEL BETTER PRONTO VIBES~~~ for DR vixmom!!!!!!
Now I want to see that TV movie of 12 Angry Men, which must have flown right past me in 1997.
There's a lot of George C. Scott I haven't seen, some of which is pure carelessness on my part, but he's great in almost everything.
Top faves, off the top of my head:
Patton
Dr. Strangelove
Hardcore
The Changeling
The Hospital
Anatomy of a Murder
-
Good morning, all!
-
At 7:00 this morning, there was an epic - think Iliad, Odyssey, or Titanic spill involving the cart I use to tote things around the apartment. Two bowls of different kibble were ruined, and I've spent the past two hours cleaning up, mopping up, and cursing my lot. As soon as I post this, I have the cats' breakfast dishes to clean, along with everything in the path of the spill. I think the mopped area should be dry by now.
-
Good news about your miracle, BK! I could sure use a few today.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I like most of the TOD lists so far. I would add his Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.
-
Too bad he never played A Carol Christmas.
-
I would like the “Mutual” actress in White Christmas to say “National Cook a Sweet Potato Day.”
-
I once broke a tooth eating a slice of sweet potato pie.
It wasn’t hard either. Honest.
Time to get a move on today.
almost a "Chorus Line" song reference.
-
So many wonderful links yesterday.
For a nickel, I would put the KOLO in Oklahoma!
-
The notes were most excellent.
Yes stories must be told....tea must be spilled as they say now.
-
And can you imagine what Jane Krakowski told HER friends?
"I was walking down the street and there was a nice looking man riding on a stack of boxes in the back of a pickup truck! He smiled at me!"
-
And thanks to DR IRIS for sharing that NINE clip.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the MMM.
-
For the TOD I certainly second ALL of MR BK's choices....and I was going to add A Christmas Carol.....but DR JOHN G already mentioned it.
-
I see DR RODZINSKI's Kolo....and raise him a Strathspey and a Tulloch.
And a German slap dance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfcy2JBdSA0
-
Fun dance links!
Can watching all this dancing give you a sympathetic cardio workout?
-
I agree with DR JohnG about George C. Scott in A Christmas Carol; he's the best Scrooge since Alastair Sim.
-
I have finished kitty cleanup[; I am about 90 minutes later than usual.
-
And a German slap dance.
Were my eyes fooling me, or were some of the dancers actually kicking each other in the butt at some point?
-
Yes they were DR FREDDIE I had never seen that before.....butt it was amusing.
DR Ron Pulliam, the missing "t" was intentional. Ask DR ChasSmith or DR Jrand73 about that.
How about it DRs ChasSmith or JRand73?
Feel better vibes for DR VIXMOM.
Sorry about your trolley accident this morning DR ELMORE.....I know exactly what you're feeling - it happens to me with the tool cart at the theeder at least twice a season.
Yes DR RON PULLIAM we have been giving theeder repors for a year or so.
In approximately 30 minutes, my Cousin Debra will stop and pick me up. We will then drive to Leesville (the northern half of Batesburg-Leesville) where she will visit our chiropractor. Afterward, we stop at Shealy's for lunch. That is Shealy's Bar-B-Que, officially!
Shealy's is a serious upgrade from my traditional Thursday lunch spot: The Triangle in Johnston. Today is cubed steak day at The Triangle and they do a terrific cubed steak.
But they ain't no match for Shealy's!
-
Hopefully it won't be a rough ride DR RON PULLIAM.
I think this is perfect Barbecue weather.
One of them may be the girlfriend/wife/lover/sister/mother (or all of the preceding) of the person who hijacked your FB account.
DR RON PULLIAM that is sadly true.....
DR Elmore - Did you see my two very brief email responses this week?
They don't need a reply, but this morning I've found out two other people have missed seeing emails from me, so I'm just checking with everyone to be sure.
Sad either way.
It is sad and I was sorry when they got another Shepherd.
When Craig was moving into an apartment he needed health papers, so something, from our vet. She labeled his dog as part Shephard. He had her change that as the dog would not be approved if it had any Shepherd.
Oh, no! I hope it was at least easy to clean. Hey, that sounds like a song cue:
You'd be so easy to clean
So easy to sanitize
The mold that turns green...
DR Laura, I go an email from your donut-loving Sound of Music Captain von Trapp, Ben Davis, today. He just got back from singing in Italy.
On This Day in 1983, the play Moose Murders flopped spectacularly on Broadway.
In the NY Times, Frank Rich wrote, "a visit to Moose Murders is what will separate the connoisseurs of Broadway disaster from mere dilettantes for many moons to come."
Meanwhile, On This Day in 1879, the first Woolworth Department Store opened in Utica, NY.
Pardon me whilst I saddle up to the counter and order a lime phosphate.
Meanwhile, On This Day in 1879, the first Woolworth Department Store opened in Utica, NY.
When I moved to NY in the year 1996, there were dozens of Woolworths still around. My fave place to buy cheap movies on VHS.
-
Michael Caine’s Scrooge in A Muppet Christmas Carol is amazing.
-
There was a F.W. Woolworth at the county seat and several in Indy - but we had none in Mooresville.
-
Moving right along this Thursday.
Rain has stopped and the SUN is shining.
Thursday afternoon greetings! We’ve had thunderstorms today, but the rain should stop in time for us to walk up to the activity building for tonight’s wine dinner.
Rain has stopped and the SUN is shining.
Well, that’s encouraging!
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep - was up at ten and immediately got enmeshed in trying to find the eight-year-old girl who was in Prime Suspect. Thanks to some great help from ChasSmith we figured out her name was misspelled on the call sheet. He found a girl from Newbury Park and the minute he said Newbury Park I pretty much knew it was the right girl because I remember visiting her at either Thanksgiving or Christmas after we wrapped the movie. But her first name was spelled several different ways. Through Ancestry, ChasSmith found a girl with that name, and yet another spelling of the first name - but the birth year was right. I searched her, found a number and called - disconnected. I searched Facebook and found a page for her.
-
She had only a handful of posts and hadn't been on the page for two years. But it said she was a set painter for films and an IATSE member. It was hard to tell from her photos if it was the right girl.
-
So, I called the IATSE local, they confirmed she was a member and I asked them to please ask her if she was in a movie when she was eight and if so to please give her my number.
-
Five minutes later, she called me and it was indeed the same girl and we had a lovely conversation. I said I'd give her a copy of the book when it was out. I added the right spelling to the book and added a note about searching for and finding her.
-
Nice detective work, BK and Chas! So glad it was the same person.
-
That search was successful largely because of her not-so-common names. Even though it turned out that both were misspelled originally, their uniqueness made the Ancestry search ("sounds like" or "similar to") more doable.
And something else nice came out of it. While on Ancestry, I saw an offer for newspapers.com at a nice introductory 6-month discount, and took it. Finally!
-
Congratulations on the successful search! Newspapers.com is awesome, especially with the Publisher Extra that gets you the more recent editions of many of the big papers.
-
I'm on Ancestry a lot, working on my family history. Who knows, maybe I'm cousins with BK or someone else here? I once got a strong-looking DNA match with the guy who wrote My Cousin Vinny, but then learned that the match really wasn't as strong as Ancestry made it look back then.
-
TOD: It's got to be Patton for me. I really should re-watch it now that I've learned so much more about my Dad's service in World War II. I knew he was in Patton's army but now I've found where his battalion was each day of their service.
-
Went to the doctor today. Blood pressure was 100 over 64. If it’s that low, why has everything this afternoon rubbed me the wrong way?
Excellent, looks a bit like my normal. LOL, it doesn't means things aren't bothering you.
What about American Cruise Lines, DR Jane? It looks like they cruise the Columbia and Snake rivers.
-
But I don't think they're paddle boats. So there's that.
Waiting for the DH to get home from a church meeting so we can eat.
Shealy's looks great. And all-you-can-eat!!
I am impressed by the mountain of side dishes.
What time is it where you are, singdaw?
Why do they cube steak? Why not pyramid it? Or sphere it?
We're just an hour behind you, DR Freddie. So, 8:00PM.
If you are far-sighted.
But miles to go before I sleep.
And sheep to count.
I've returned to Butcher's Crossing. I skipped the middle hour. The rest looks worse than the beginning, which didn't look too good.
-
I don't know if I'll make it to
the promised land page seven.
But I will make a valiant effort.
Or at least an effort.
One more.
Starting Hitchcock’s I Confess, which I know I won’t finish tonight.
This is maybe my third or fourth time watching it. I first saw it as a kid and loved it, because the concept blew my 10-year-old mind. I didn't care as much for it the last time I saw it. But I loved the first half hour tonight.
-
MichaelG, I have been watching a lot of Hitchcock lately, including his silents, his war-effort movies, his screwball comedy, his musical. Anything I can get my hands on.
His musical? Somehow I've missed that or I'm blanking on it. I'd like to know more tomorrow, please.
I've only seen I Confess once, maybe a year or two ago. I liked it, but not as much as some of his better-known movies.
Gratuitous Post #200!! :D
-
Tonight, my friend Shelly and I went to the local Plaza Jalisco Mexican restaurant.
-
I had their Expresso (sic) Burrito.
-
It's a flour tortilla filled with rice beans, cheese and your choice of meat filling, covered wilh fresh lettuce, tomato and sour cream.
-
And it's quite delish. :)
-
I only ate half of it at the restaurant, and brought the other half with me.
-
Great news about finding the “Prime Suspect”!
