Well, you've read the notes, the notes weren't Saturday notes, and now it is time for you to post until the Saturday cows come home.

I slept rather well. Around 2:00 I had to get up and stretch my legs which were beginning to ache. I got back into bed to fin Thatch had taken my place. That meant rethinking my place in the bed and not disturbing Annabelle on her princess pillow. Some time later he left, and I moved back to my old position. Shoretly thereafter, Stella showed up. I slept for a b it, to be awakened by Thatch coming to curl up beside me. He stayed till the alarm rang.

I got the link to yesterday's rehearsal, but they were sent on the Indiana University site, not on yesterday's Microsoft, so I cannot access them. I've sent Jae an email about the problem.

But in my limited experience from hell, it seems that the first thing the hacker does is change the email on your account so you can't access it.....then they change your password and you're done....and FACEBOOK WILL DO NOTHING because the account doesn't go against any of their rules.....

Morning, all!

I slept very well.  I languished abed this morning.

First thing that happened after I sat down to surf was a major sneezing fit.

Have been sneezing quite a bit in the past few days.  I think it may be all the pollen in the air here.

Peach trees are blooming, grasses are growing and Spring seems to be in the air.

The weather here has been phenomenal for March.  Temps in the mid to upper 70s have been with us for nearly a week.

Title: Re: THE TUESDAY THAT WASN'T A SATURDAY
Post by: Ron Pulliam on March 06, 2024, 07:57:00 AM
I find myself sitting here on a Wednesday morning wondering where in hell the week has gone.  I had a doctor's appointment Monday and went to The Fresh Market on the way home.  Later that day, I picked up my completed tax returns from my CPA.

Yesterday, I wrote the checks for the taxes and mailed everything.  Denny, the guy who keeps my yard cut and borders trimmed, etc., showed up and did a sterling job on the yard.

This past weekend, I watched a few films.  First up was "The Banshees of Inisherin" with Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan.    I loved it.  The performances were all outstanding and worthy of their awards nominations.

Next up was "1917".  I don't know what I was expecting, but I had no idea it was a character study set against "the war to end all wars".  Dean-Charles Chapman and George MacKay was absolutely terrific as the two main soldiers sent out on a dangerous mission/errand.  I was expecting a scale similar to "Dunkirk" and found an intimate story based on true events.  It was a joy to experience.

And finally, at long last, I can say I have seen "The Fabelmans".   What a treat!  First, I think it only fair to comment that it is not the typical Spielberg film.  It has some terrific performances, a decent script and some cool nostalgic surprises, but it really wasn't a major Oscar contender except for two things:  Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.  Michelle Williams was wondrous as Mitzi.  Judd Hirsch took his few minutes screen time and molded them into a phenomenal performance that should be studied by anyone who loves character acting.  The surprise for me was David Lynch as John Ford.  And that closing scene was a treat!

From DR Rodzinski:
Quote
Well docs called and told us they got further culture results and the antibiotic we were given was useless, so we got a new prescription and then no Walgreens or CVS had the stuff but we found a small pharmacy that did, so I drove an hour to Bellingham and then our insurance wouldn’t pay because it was out of network, so the pharmacist was nice enough to reduce the price from $1200 to $800, so there you have life in these modern times.

Groan!  Major vibes this antibiotic works.  Do you know what she actually has?

Well - the king comforter, the full size top duvet, the four pillow cases, the light coverlet, the king flat & fitted sheets and the twin spread from the guest room are now sparkling clean and put back in place.

I used Gain Flings and they worked really well even in COLD water.  About 20 minutes to wash - so we went across the street for an omelet breakfast......then another 20 minutes to dry so we went shopping at OLLIE'S - I had my 10% off coupon.

And now I am dressed and ready to head out to Physical Therapy in about 15 minutes.....

I could use one DR LAURA's pistachio blondies.

I am quite vexed by Indiana University. I have waited seven hours for someone to respond or come to my aid so I can hear yesterday's rehearsal. I just sent a rather frustrating email about the situation along with a suggestion that the pianist, a slight Asiangirl, be replaced by someone with balls. I need an aggressive Broadway player who plays Gershwin's Concerto in F one night and a jazz ensemble the next.

Awesome! Sounds a lot better than my drive today, which included a torrential blinding rainstorm on Alligator Alley. What's the word for "whiteout" when it's rain instead of snow? "Grayout?" The saving grace was knowing the road is completely straight.

I know nothing about this show.

I never heard of it either, so I looked it up on Google. Wikipedia says it's his last Broadway musical, from 1983. But they did an oratorio-style staging, a sure-fire recipe for Broadway success, right? In that case it may work better as a cast recording than as a semi/non-staged show. If you give it a listen please report back!

The highway is pretty separated from the gators, so probably not. But I saw all sorts of interesting reptiles in Florida cemeteries that you never see in New York or London! This was for my family history research, not a funeral.
