Well, you've read the notes, the notes wore pants, and now it is time for you to post until the pants-wearing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JAUNTY!
-
And speaking of Peter Gunn, I love Sarah Vaughan's vocal version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAk8DwaF0fs)!

Thanks for that link, George! I'd never heard that before!

TOD:
So many, but I think my favorite TV theme song of olden days was for "Phyllis"
-
And my favorite instrumental theme music from back when was "Room 222"
-
But so so many fabulous TV themes!
-
Jrand, were you referring to my wondering aloud (in a post yesterday) how Dream-O-Matic would explain Larry's very vivid dream of the night before.
-
I thought it had predicted some amount of prosperity and IRS resolution on the way, possibly in the same day - but I don't really have any track record for dream interpretation.
But I do have some hard-knock-life hands-on life experience with gayness and Judaism intersecting.
The involvement of a Hanukka arrangement for the NYC Gay Men's Chorus and his needing (in the dream) to contact Ken Mandelbaum felt like there was hope for cooperation where you'd least expect to find it.
-
I believe in "Falsettos" the intersection of gayness and Judaism comes through as "The miracle of Judy-ism"
-
I got up early feeling there was preview coverage of the Michael Cohen on the stand that I didn't want to miss.
-
And sure enough, CNN had - at the hour of 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. on an early morning show - impressive coverage that didn't stint on analysis and smart talking heads getting ready of the Michael Cohen back on the stand today.
-
All these panelists look so awake and alert for such an early hour!
-
I guess they had announced the early morning coverage yesterday so that was in the back of my mind.
-
All these people hard at work and into their day so very early, already at 5 a.m. -
I have to assume their sleep cycle is simply adjusted to be well into their workday, sounding so erudite and knowledgeable, by such an early hour!
-
Now I want to eat at Meconi's.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Thanks for posting the Wicked trailer, DR Freddie.
-
Here's a little painting I did.
-
Sorry; that was Monet.

That Debbie is a wild one.

Speaking of one, we're ON page one.
-
What a coincidence.
-
Just ONE more...

PAGE TWO
-
We're no longer on page one, but here's a "one" joke:
-
Wow - this day is already flying by like a gazelle wielding a Sham-Wow and a squeegee.
-
DR John G., have you ever made a simply syrup infused with dried lavender blossoms?
-
DR John G., have you ever made a simply syrup infused with dried lavender blossoms?
"Simply Syrup" sounds like it could be a festival, like Mostly Mozart.
-
No French toast, no pancakes - simply syrup.
-
Oh gawrsh. Meant to type "simple" syrup.
-
I wonder if Simple Simon eats simple syrup.
-
Simply Syrup. You can eat it with a spoon.
-
But it's so tasty, you'll want to eat it with a fork.
-
I eat my peas with honey.
I've done it all my life.
It makes the peas taste funny,
But it keeps them on the knife.

-
Good morning, all!
-
Oh gawrsh. Meant to type "simple" syrup.
Oh.
Never mind. :)
-
I must pay some bills today.
-
I slept rather well, with some peculiar dcreams. In one, I think I was an attorney representing trucker who had been sexually assaulted. In another I wasgoing into work at the DSrama Book Shop two hours late and wondering what excuse I could give when I ran into one of the owners who was out Christmas shopping and I ended up helping her with that.
-
But I shouldn't delete my incorrect posts.
That could be counterproductive for the goal of getting more HHW pages!
-
I cannot believe I'm remembering dreams after so many months when I couldn't remember a single one.
-
Good morning

Hello, all and one!
No dreams to speak of, but my sleep was extraordinarily good.
-
I am still forging ahead in learning to deal with this new laptop.
It's crazy how much you forget about formatting after five years.
I sit here at times wondering why something is so odd and then remember that there is a way to adjust that something into a thing I am comfortable with.
And yes, I did end that sentence with a preposition.
Sue me.
-
Here I am, HHW.
-
Is it I, HHW?
-
I have heard you calling in the night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had a long conversation last night with my cousin Debra.
The first part had to do with some work she had done creating a back porch. I am likely going to have my back porch converted into a sun room that I can enjoy year-round, so I will be using her contracgtor.
We then got onto the topic of a "third birthday party" that I was invited to a couple of weeks ago at my cousin Chad's house.
His daughter Brynlee is three and the theme of the party is "Under the Sea". I got a special pop-up card with the Little Mermaid in it.
But, the mom moved out two weeks ago, unfriended all of Chad's friends and relatives on facebook, so the fate of the party was in question.
Learned that Courtney is coming back for one day to hold the party and then leaving again.
I'd personally enjoy her returning to the house and being unable to get in...that all the locks had been changed, etc., but the feeligns of the little girl are of paramount importance.
Oddly, half the invitees to the party were "unfriended" by Courtney, so the head count is uncertain.
-
Some of you will remember that tasty hymn.
-
Yow, Ron! That sounds like drama you don’t wanna miss.
-
Of course I hope it is all kept from the child knowing about it and everything stays civil and pleasant. But it sounds like a recipe for trouble.
-
I have a haircut appointment tomorrow. Before that, I plan on taking a large load of cardboard items to the dump, stopping at State Farm and renewing insurance on my truck and the getting the hair cut.
That's my life these days. Doctors appointments and visits to the dump.
Today, however, IS Thursday, and Thursday is cubed steak day at The Triangle (don't be square, eat at the Triangle).
-
Yow, Ron! That sounds like drama you don’t wanna miss.
It is the main reason I am going. I want to be there for Chad and for his daughter, and also I want to be there to piss Courtney off even though she had no reasons to hate me for anything. She invited me, personally.
-
Speaking of crazy dreams, this has really been my week for them. I seem to be cycling through my standard themes, including some that haven't been visited in a while. Last night's found me - and my family! - having just settled on moving into a large apartment, and I have no idea where it was or why it was occurring. The more interesting elements were features of the apartment itself, which would take some time to describe. Someone, perhaps two people, from my former job were present, and there was another unrelated element having to do with a restaurant in the same building and possible reservations for our next Thanksgiving dinner. Don't ask. It wasn't a long dream, but much craziness was packed into it.
-
Of course I hope it is all kept from the child knowing about it and everything stays civil and pleasant. But it sounds like a recipe for trouble.
I am pretty sure there will be some trouble. Courtney's mother is behind most of what is going on, I think. Courtney's family is rather odd and mostly unappealing. Her dad is great but has been divorced from her mom for many years. Her mom, Tina, has remarried, but her husband is in New Mexico working and apparently has restricted how much money Tina can get from him as she and Courtney seem to think their husbands make tons of money that they are meant to spend lots of on a daily basis.
I doubt I will witness any trouble while I am there. I won't spend more than a half hour there unless Chad asks me to stick around. Debra will be there for an hour but she has to work a horse sale and will leave early.
I consider myself moral support more than "invited guest" at this point.
-
I have heard you calling in the night.
For some reason, I thought of crows when I read that.

-
The Dream-O-Matic is out for repair.....but it will return soon.
"Is it safe to remember your dreams when The Dream-O-Matic is out for repair?" - could be the tagline for a movie franchise of some sort
-
I'd get paid to see that.
-
I will be interested in the birthday party repor.
-
Tonight is Act Two which is short compared to Act One.....
-
I feel confident you'll bring it in under two hours, DR Jrand73.
-
DR John G., have you ever made a simply syrup infused with dried lavender blossoms?
I don't cook much with lavender. A little goes a long way. I have been picking it here at the resort because it's in full bloom. The aroma is heavenly.
-
Tonight is Act Two which is short compared to Act One.....
No longer than 1:58.
-
Had an incredible meal today. Not fancy, but great home style cooking with the freshest ingredients. The simple Greek salad was made with the freshest and ripest tomatoes, tomatoes that you might sell your mother for. Well, I might sell your mother for.
-
The baked feta with tomatoes, onion and peppers was simple but so fine.
-
The kolokeithokeftedes, or fried zucchini balls, were loaded with fresh mint, feta and eggs and encased in cornmeal before frying.
-
We had a half dozen more dishes that left me very happy and very satisfied.
-
And they had an African grey, so I got a few moments of birdy time.
-
I think the only TV shows for which I remember music are the ones that had scores by Mancini and DeVol. I remember Thriller with Boris Karloff because O really liked the series and I remember how much I hated the credits music.
-
I love theme songs from shows lke Patty Duke, Mary Tyler Moore, Gilligan’s Island, The Cartridge Family, The Brady Bunch. I was also a fan back in the day of Mike Post’s themes for St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues.
-
DeVol’s theme for Family Affair was wonderful.
-
Big Valley, High Chaparral, Wild wild West and Bonanza had great themes.
-
Let’s ditch this page.

Hello, 5 guests!

The Jeffersons had a great theme song. As did other Norman lear shows: All in the Family, Msude, Good Times, One Day at a Time, Sanford and Son

Hello, 5 guests!
Meanwhile, elsewhere on HHW, 64 Guests are viewing this board.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Hard to tell about the books - they're not out for delivery but says they're being prepared for delivery. It still says between nine and eleven, but, well, let's hope that's still accurate.

Are the 64 guests hanging out together?

Did the "Gloria" spin-off have a theme song?
-
I really liked the theme song for "The Facts of Life" - is that too recent for the TOD?
-
Out for delivery now - but the time has changed to between an hour ago and 12:45. Hopefully, it will arrive before then so I can be back here by one for the helper - doesn't give me much time to sign so that will probably take thirty minutes.
-
Have we mentioned the 2025 Encores season: URINETOWN, LOVE LIFE and LaChiusa’s THE WILD PARTY.
Are you working on any them, Larry?

Can you ask the helper to come a little bit later, or is it too late to do that?
-
She'll call before coming.

Just as I needed to do something, the computer did its freeze - and took ten full minutes to get everything working and mail STILL is trying to load. So infuriating.

My friend Marc Miller came by with CDs of John McGlinn's concert of The Cat and the Fiddle for me, and we had a nice visit.

Then Joshie called. He has a job for me! I am so happy for the work.

Page Five!

Congratulations, Larry, on the work.

Helper should be here soon. Books are signed and ready to go - that took over an hour. They look great, though.

I had a pound of ground beef and a yellow onion so I made chili. It turned out spicy and very good.

If we mentioned it I missed it, so thanks so much Freddie for posting this. I have my calendar marked for when single tickets go on sale for Love Life. I'm so happy they're doing it in between our operas!
-
I'm a huge Weill fan and this is pretty much the one remaining show that doesn't have any sort of cast recording, just excerpts scattered hither and yon. Do they often make recordings of these Encores shows?

MichaelG - Are you planning to travel to New York to see LOVE LIFE?
-
My introduction to Weill concert music (e.g. beyond Mack the Knife) was playing a suite from Der Silbersee with my college orchestra. We toured it to Lincoln Center and Lotte Lenya apparently attended, though as a callow youth I didn't know who she was beyond Weill's widow. I don't know how or who funded those tours and recordings when I was in the orchestra, but I'm grateful for it.
-
MichaelG - Are you planning to travel to New York to see LOVE LIFE?
Heck yes! When am I ever going to have another chance to see and hear it in person?
-
Our Silbersee recording for Turnabout is one where you can actually hear my trumpet playing, as there's a fabulous trumpet duet right near the end where I'm playing the 2nd part.
-
Congratulations to Larry for the work, and to BK for the pants and books!
-
Good afternoon.

TOD:

I am back from a filling the tank ($3.37, down from the high $3.40s over the past few weeks), a decent rehearsal, and a stop at Trader Joe's from whence I'm trying a couple of things that will be new to me. Gotta broaden those horizons.

That show was a favorite of mine! Loved the theme music, too.
-
Had a Chinese chicken salad for food, then some melon chunks and a tiny bit of low-fat cottage cheese. That all adds up to around 1200 calories, I should think. Hard to judge because the calorie count is so wildly different everywhere. Cheesecake Factory is over 1600 calories, but it's HUGE there. I'm guessing Stanley's is four or five hundred less because their dressing is very light.
-
Since no one has mentioned actual scores to TV shows, I will. The Twilight Zone had some great Bernard Herrmann and Jerry Goldsmith scores, Dominic Frontiere's scores for The Outer Limits were great, Pat Williams theme and scores for The Streets of San Francisco were tops, and of course I have a special place in my heart for George Duning's Star Trek scores and his background scores for The Partridge Family.
