Well, you've read the notes, the notes had joy and discovery, and now it is time for you to post until the discovered cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LUCRATIVE!
-
I was just about to reply to BK's post:
I don't see a food report, do you?
But the day got locked, so here's my reply:
A food report HAD been posted! ::)
-
I listened to Here We Are on streaming, and look forward to giving it the full treatment on CD on the main stereo sometime next week. I'll hold off on my opinions until George and others have a chance to listen.
Did anyone here see the premiere? I was in New York when it was playing, but we only had time for one show on that trip and it was Merrily.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vixmom and I saw Here We Are on the same day.
-
It was excellent.

Oh, no. :(
Dabney Coleman, ‘9 to 5’ Star Who Made a Career Out of Playing Jerks, Dies at 92 (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/dabney-coleman-dead-9-to-5-mary-hartman-tootsie-1235902521/)
The Texas native got laughs for his boorish behavior in 'Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,' 'Tootsie,' 'Buffalo Bill' and much more.
-
But he made it to 92...a good (hopefully), long run.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I finished my work on the overture around 800; 60 bars was a good cont for the day. Then O lay down and watched MSNBC while I looked up on Google a lead sheet for "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen," which I need for the middle section today.
-
I got to bed late, and these days I need 9-10 hours in bed, if only to coverthe time I do not sleep because of my aches and cramps. I didn't get out of bed until 7:20 because three cats started letting me know tey wanted breakfast.
-
When I talk to Joshie today, I'll hopefully learn about this Mattress transfer.

We are going to a birthday party this evening for a retired physician who happens to be a wine connoisseur.
-
For a gift, the DH procured a bottle of fine wine.
-
It was on sale.
-
But it still cost $99.

I hope it's good.

And I hope I don't drop it on the way to the party.

DR Michael G., I also listened to Here We Are streaming yesterday. I liked it a lot. I wish there were more score, but it was not to be.
I am sure I will appreciate it even more with repeated listenings.

There will never be another new Sondheim premiere. :-X

TOD:
I will preface my selections by saying that my earliest memories of going to the movies were of three films: "Anastasia", "The Ten Commandments" and "War and Peace" -- all 1956 films. I saw the first two in theaters in Augusta, Georgia, and the latter in the small theater in Johnston SC (where I now live).
It is amazing to me how vivid my memories of those films remains from those first viewings although I have watched all three many times over the years.
That said, when I read lists of Hepburn performances, I seldom, if ever, see "War and Peace" listed among them. I have to express surprise for that, alone, because she is absolutely luminous as Natasha Rostova, and she is the very best thing about that film which is a very good movie considering the - at the time - unfilmable nature of the gargantuan Tolstoy tale. The Russians, of course, did film it...in a 431-minute adaptation. In 1956, that would not have played at all well in U.S. theaters.
My favorite Hepburn performances:
Rome Adventure
Sabrina
War and Peace
Funny Face
The Nun's Story
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Charade
My Fair Lady
Wait Until Dark
Two for the Road

Today is Saturday in the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area), and it is, of course, the day of the "third birthday" celebration for Miss Brynlee Mims, tales of which may be forthcoming later today.
I hope for a tranquil hour or less while I am there, but I am not making any bets.

I spoke to Joshie about the overture and Mattress. I gather that, economically, the production, and Adam Guettel, decided to go with Coughlin's 14-piece orchestration over the larger Encores! orchestra. I also believe Coughlin and Guettel are friends.

This past week, I treated myself to the first season of a BBC TV series I had heard about but had never watched.
In fact, the only reason I watched at all was because I caught a Graham Norton Show on which Olivia Colman appeared. She was sitting with Jodie Foster who said that all her friends had told her she should watch "Broadchurch" but she never had.
I am not a huge Olivia Colman fan. Not a foe, either. But I watched the first season of "Broadchurch" and was riveted...by Colman, by David Tennant, and by the entire cast as the death/murder of a young boy was investigated. Among the most important things they got totally right was the impact sensationalism has, especially when media gets involved and starts printing things about various people in town who have pasts they uncover. Then, the town folks start in harassing and pointing fingers and tragedy follows.
I watched only the first season, and I won't offer up any spoilers.

Got a treat coming up in two weeks: the Bedford Playhouse is showing the Todd-AO Oklahoma! in (of course) full roadshow format, with guest Andy Hammerstein - who it turns out is on the theater's advisory board. Silly me, I hadn't been aware of that.
BK's close personal friend Janet Maslin will moderate, along with Robert Harris who will also speak to the technical aspects. This is the 30-fps real deal that Bedford ran at their test screening in 2018 that, thankfully, RAH invited me to before the building restoration had even been completed. It is eye-poppingly glorious, and I believe it had only been shown at the Chinese just a few years prior to that.
I'm told that Andy Hammerstein still raves about WCSU's production of Allegro last year, which is great to hear.

Fourteen (14). That's one four. Classic show. Broadway. Heavy revisal.
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept...

We loved both seasons of Broadchurch.
-
But I think Season 1 is a bit more compelling.

Looking forward to DR Ron Pulliam's tales out of school.

Is there a name missing on the Kritzerland poster? Namely, Joan Ryan's? Was that deliberate? I'm looking at the one on your FB page, a few posts down.

I'm up, I'm up - only seven hours of sleep.

That chicken stuff would not digest well and I could not sleep because of it - I was in bed at one-thirty, up at three, and back to bed at five and up now.
-
I like your bottle decoration DR singdaw.
And your video link was most excellent. My goal was to be a concert pianist, but one morning at breakfast my mother dropped a six pack on my right hand.
-
Thanks to Lily Tomlin for the joke.
-
DR RON PULLIAM listed Rome Adventure but he may have meant Roman Holiday.
Although I love Rome Adventure with Troy Donahue & Suzanne Pleshette!
-
I am glad to get the theeder repors from DR CHAS SMITH & DR GEORGE.
As for Moon Over Buffalo.....I am a casual observer of the documentary MOON OVER BROADWAY about the Broadway run of the show....most excellent and certainly doesn't spare the performers and staff.....and it is even better to listen to the commentary.

Wasn't Chowsie in GYPSY named for chow mein?
-
I think so, DR Freddie!

That would be a great slogan for a Chinese restaurant chain...
Where your main is Chow Mein.
-
I'm functioning a little bit better at the moment though I am not sure how long this will last-lol
-
I'm also doing laundry while eating left over potato chips.
-
I always fly with Tim's potato chips as they help settle my stomach when I get air sick. I just eat a few at a time and had half of a smll bag left over.
-
They are helping right now as I really haven't recovered from the side effects of my 24 hour bug. My stomach is just so delicate and I have been struggling with eating more than usual.

Thank you. It will just take time as it always does.

At 104 pounds, now that we are home, I can work at eating more.

I visited Debra before going to the party. Her contractor did a fabulous job on her back porch.
We sat and talked about 40 minutes before we both left for Chad's house and the party. Chad is about 2 miles down a dirt road from Debra's.
All of the party was outside. Lots of kiddie inflatables were on hand...slides, a bounce house, a pool, etc. The kids were many.
Happily, Chad had a lot of his personal friends there with their kids, plus his sister Becky and her children Audrey and Levi and hubby Evan.
I met his wife's grandparents, and they were quite wonderful and personable. I spoke to Courtney and handed her the birthday card I had ordered. She thanked me for coming and that was it. I left after a half hour. The expended energy of those kids wore me out.
-
I am very pleased the day went well, especially for Chad and the birthday girl.
-
DR Ron do you know when the contractor can begin your porch?

I decided on Don Cuco for food and it was great and traveled well and was still hot.

All within 1200 calories and really more like 1000, since I didn't eat the frijoles.

Also, I don't think I've seen the American adaptation, which, very interestingly, also stars David Tennant.

Well, lookie here!! BK's reached a momentous millstone of a moment! ;D
Congratulations, BK, on your new millstone!

Our experience at both airports is that it is super fast and easy, and much better than doing it once back in the states, and then have to go through security again for the connecting flight.
-
On July 2nd we submitted our Global Entry renewals. Keith received his two days later.
-
Ten months and eleven days later, on the morning we were leaving Ireland, my renewal approval came through. I find the timing "interesting".

The Global Entry line was super short and we were pleased I wasn't held up due to my renewal not having gone through.

CONGRATULATIONS, BK, on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!

It was all outdoors - the weather was absolutely perfect.

Finished with my viewing.

Good morning, all.

Headed for Turkey today.

I'm home. :)

Here I come to save the day….
-
So the thing we need is a Nexus card. Lets us travel quickly through borders and airports. But “due to Covid,” the program got so backed up, we’d been waiting nigh 2 years for our Nexus interview at the border office in Blaine.
-
That all changed a few weeks ago when our meeting time arrived. But wires got crossed and I scheduled my work trip to Tampa that day. My family went without me and got their Nexus cards straightaway.
-
If anyone in the car doesn’t have the card, though, you can’t go through that lane. And you must understand, from about now through August, the Canadians descend on my weird little hamlet to stay in their summer cottages and whatnot. On a typical weekend we might have to wait in a line for an hour to get back to our home.
-
My replacement appointment was not till the end of August.
-
BUT! A border guard here told me if I go down to the Nexus office when it opens in the morning, they let you wait around and nobody will tell you this, but eventually they call you in as a walk-in.
-
Sure enough I drove down on Friday, and the surly front desk people acted like I was a jerk, and said, “Who told you you could do this?” Generally gave me a hard time. But they did take my paperwork, and after 4 hours I got called in for my interview with a U.S. and Canadian border guard. I managed that, and now I’m approved, so that’s a big deal for us. Assuming my card comes in the mail in a few days.
-
Meanwhile, vibes for Jane’s tummy.
-
And for ViXDAD.
-
And of course, dear Iris!
-
Glad to hear the party was a simple delight, Ron.
-
Well that saga and those vibes at least got us to page 8.
-
I showed the kids the “I Want To Eat Your Face” segment tonight, and they enjoyed it again.
-

That's great, Rodzinski!
-
Well, tonight's performance of The King in Yellow went quite well.
-
I forget how many people were there, but they thoroughly enjoyed the show.
-
After the show, I came right home.
-
Earlier today, my friend Shelly and I went to Costco to get a few things.
-
No food? I guess George didn't eat today.
-
And page six is for butt cheeks.
-
And not very far on page six at that.
-
No chance for seven, because George already left the room.
-
Probably eating a burrito.
-
Or some Cheetos.
-
Or some vanilla pudding.
-
He sure ain't posting.
-
THAT much is VERY clear.
-
And he WILL be held accountable.
-
I guess the word Costco was his cue to take a hike.
-
In any case, I'm not waiting anymore.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
No food? I guess George didn't eat today.
Not very much. We both had a Costco hot dog and that's pretty much all I ate today.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
The prodigal George returns.
-
I did buy a Banana Cream Pie at Costco. :D
-
If you can hang on a moment, I can post a couple of pictures.
-
Here's a picture of the pie:
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
All of the missing pie wasn't consumed by me in one afternoon!
-
I only had one piece...and it was delish!
-
I cut the pie into 16, count 'em, 16 pieces, and have started to wrap and freeze them.
-
Here's a picture of them in my freezer:
-
I'm going to freeze the first half of the pie because I don't have enough room in the freezer to fit them all in there without squishing them.
-
So after those freeze, I can move them to a smaller area because they'll be solid enough to not squish.
-
Then I can wrap the rest of the pie slices and they'll all be frozen for future consumption. ;D
-
Defrosting them will be very easy and then they'll be able to be consumed in the future.
-
And now, since we're so close...
-
Gratuitous Post #190!!
-
;)
-
Well, we made it to page seven, which, by the way, I do not care for.
