Well, you've read the notes, you know about Richard and me, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently singing Feed the Cows.
-
And the word of the day is ACUMEN!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Did we completely eradicate 'ring around the collar' in the 1980s, because I don't hear about it much anymore.

Who decides these things?

~~~COMFORT & CONSOLATION VIBES~~~ for BK and for the family and friends of Robert Sherman
-
Good morning, all!
-
Such wonderful memories and photos in BK's Notes today.
-
Jrand, congrats to you and your sister on your award!
-
vixmom, hoping the medications are helping, and vibes for a speedy recovery.
-
George, good to hear your final Saturday night performance went so well.
-
BK, Richard's NY Times obituary was in my emails this morning. My first impulse was to call you and check on you. I knew you would be devastated, but a 4:00am phone call would be no comfort at all. DR John G was right; the news is like a death in the family, and I'm sitting here teary-eyed over a man I only met personally once, thanks to you, but I'm grateful I had the chance to tell him how much I loved his work. Thanks to you as well, I feel I knew the man through your comments about him on HHW.
Bless you both.
-
Iris, good to see you here yesterday. Hoping things are getting better with your health issue.
-
More vibes for John G's pains to go away.
-
Vibes of comfort to BK. I am so sad about Richard’s passing.
-
As soon as my usual chores are finished, I'm back to the Irish medley. I'd like to finish it today because I want to do the laundry tomorrow morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.
Wonderful memories in the notes today. Thank you for sharing.
DR Elmore posts for me. The two nights at Triad in NYC were my only time ever to meet and be around Richard, but that was a precious week. This morning Kristi and Nathan and I have been looking through the snapshots I grabbed those two evenings.
EDIT: And Marni Nixon! I hadn't even known she was there until we saw her and DR Elmore on the street afterward. This fall, it will have been ten years since that week. Little did we know.
-
I don't have one of me or Nathan, but Kristi treasures these memories, especially when he held her hand as she attempted to tell him what his music has meant in her life:
-
And he was so happy to be photographed with little Hadley:
-
Here is one of Richard Sherman’s last songs, for a short animated film from last year. He still had it. It’s lovely.
Thanks DR FREDDIE.
Wonderful photos DR CHAS SMITH!
Great photos and stories in the notes.
I love this moment from the ALS Benefit with Mr. Richard Sherman and Ms. Hayley Mills......Mr. Sherman goes up a bit in the lyrics and Ms Hayley pretends she needs the lyric sheet, too, so goes into his pocket to get it....
And another song - with Miss Annette and one of the Sherman brothers breaking her up at the end......
In case anyone's counting.
From DR George:
Yes, Jane, the garage door WAS opened (and fairly easily) and we had a great garage sale all around!
Excellent. I had hoped that was why you didn't report in sooner.
-
George, I would like to have seen Avery Brooks as Paul Robeson. Even more, I would like to have seen Paul Robeson as my mother always said he was her favorite singer.
-
Did we completely eradicate 'ring around the collar' in the 1980s, because I don't hear about it much anymore.
That is because, sadly, they stopped making Wisk. It really did work, and it was very good at getting paint out of children's clothes, which is the reason I began using it.
-
Who decides these things?
That is almost what my brother asked when I wished him a happy Brother's Day. He added one word to the question, "stupid" ;D
-
From George:
After the garage sale, I went to the final Saturday night performance of The King in Yellow, and we probably our best audience! They laughed at everything (that was appropriate to laugh at ;) ), and were quite taken with the show when it went dark. A very enjoyable performance.
Congratulations!
-
I don't have one of me or Nathan, but Kristi treasures these memories, especially when he held her hand as she attempted to tell him what his music has meant in her life:
Sweet. I need you PM me your address so I can mail the Titanic ticket for Kristi.
I loved this :)
Done!
Got it. I probably won't get it mailed for another week. I'll let you know when I send it.
-
DR Jrand your ticket will be mailed at the same time.
It's raining here, and grey, so today is a big laundry day.
-
Exciting, I know.
-
There will probably be a nap, as well.
Not grey, however, I need to wash all of the bedding.
-
There will probably be a nap, as well.
That sounds good.
-
I am very moved by the notes today :'(
-
I can't remember the last time I felt so ill.
My head feels like it's being squeezed in a vice and the coughing and sneezing is relentless.
-
Good afternoon!
-
DR Vixmom I am so sorry. I'm concerned if your cough is a tight cough.
GET WELL VIBES!
-
So sorry to hear about Richard Sherman. Such a nice tribute, BK! I was so lucky to meet him several times, thanks to you. He signed CD's for both my sister and me. I told him how we used to sing "The Perfect Nanny" from Mary Poppins and he seemed pleased.
-
Great photos from BK and DR ChasSmith!
-
How you feel better soon, DR vixmom.
-
More health vibes to vixmom!
-
Good afternoon everyone.
-
The medley is finished! And just in time, too, since Stella and Thatch are clamoring for their dinners.
-
Thanks DR JANE.
Very rainy here as well.
The Indy 500 start was delayed.....but it may be on by now.
-
feel better vibes for DR VIXMOM!
-
Ah the fans have returned to their seats in the grandstands at 2:10 p.m. and the race should get started.
-
What a mess. I missed a kleenix in a pocket before doing a load of laundry and it totally shredded over everything. It took half an hour to get it off of the clothes and I still don't have all of it out of the washing machine.
-
One of my prized possessions.
Hello, everyone.
A sad day here at HHW.
Many tributes here today. Richard’s music touched so many people.
DR Michael has Feed the Birds. I have a musical quote from Hushabye Mountain.
Mega get-well vibes to Vixmom!
Congrats to Jrand and his sister on their awards.
Sunday evening greetings! I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that DR ChasSmith’s photos were taken almost 10 years ago.
-
I can't remember the last time I felt so ill.
My head feels like it's being squeezed in a vice and the coughing and sneezing is relentless.
DR Vixmom, that’s exactly how Richard and I feel.
-
Ah the fans have returned to their seats in the grandstands at 2:10 p.m. and the race should get started.
It’s not a pretty race.
It sounds like a particularly ugly cold or flu. I'm almost surprised vixmom has NOT tested positive.
I'm up, I'm up - haven't stopped since I got up at eleven-fifteen. Seven hours of sleep.
-
Several telephonic calls, tons of e-mails, then had to go to the club to pick up our check, and just got back.
-
Must order food now.
-
Josef Newgarden now has back to back wins at the Indy 500.
-
Thanks for the photographic evidence, DR Jrand73. You and your sister look great.
Perhaps that is classified information.
5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging Memoir: Bruce Kimmel's Stage Experiences in Directed By
Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2024
The good news is that Bruce Kimmel’s latest memoir is a fraction of the length of Barbra Streisand’s, and I devoured it in just two sittings. Unlike Ms. Streisand’s book, which I have yet to complete, Kimmel’s new memoir is engaging and captivating. In this new release, he shares his career experiences as a director in stage, film, television, and cabaret. His stories are not all sunshine and lollipops; they offer a candid and illuminating look into his career. This book should be required reading for aspiring directors as Kimmel goes into detail about his methodology and techniques for bringing out the best in his actors and performers and even making tough decisions, such as dismissing an underperforming actor.
He also gives insight into other directors who have influenced his work, both film and theater. Additionally, Kimmel provides valuable insights on how to navigate relationships with producers and other creative individuals behind the scenes. For me, one of the highlights of the book is reading about Kimmel’s personal and professional relationship with the late Cindy Williams whose final performance was in Bruce’s short-form TV series “Sami”. Overall this book is highly recommended and is a must-read for anyone interested in an engaging and insightful peek into the world of directing.
Am listening now to Long Island, the sequel to Brooklyn. The writing is wonderful, but the melancholy is palpable. And the characters are sad. It’s taking awhile.
Good night, all.
-
Page five??? YOu'd think it was a holiday weekend.
-
I want to do nothing but eat.
-
Had the chopped Eyetalian salad from CPK. I think I need a break from that salad.
-
I just want to stuff my face with something. Should I? I've been pretty good for two weeks and it IS a holiday. The problem is, of course, that I was watching food videos on YouTube. I do have some pasta here. I really do.
-
It would be so easy to make.
-
It really would.
-
Or just get a sandwich from Subway or somewhere out there in the dark.
-
Well, The King in Yellow is over and the cast partied...a good time was had by all.
-
We had a totally (over) sold-out house!
-
Aw, gee! Just got back from a couple days on Vancouver Island with the fam, and am just learning about the great Richard Sherman. A terrible loss for us all, but for BK, a great friend is gone, and I was so happy any time I could read about your friendship, and I’m sorry for how you must feel. What a treasure he was, and what treasures he left behind.
-
The house seats 65, but two seats were taken out, so there was that, but several people tried to get walk-up tickets, but we only had 6 available because of the online ticket sales.
-
One problem was that the online tickets were just stopped being available when we opened the house, so we thought that walk-up tickets were available when they had been sold and didn't show up yet in our side of the ticket check-in system. :-\
-
One woman bought a ticket online, but there wasn't a seat for her, so we gave her a refund in cash and she understood...but still this shouldn't have happened.
-
We'll need to stop the online sales much sooner.
-
Duh. ::)
-
AND one person on the board thinks that all tickets should be available to sell online and not hold any for any walk-up, but a couple of us (well, between the three of us in a text conversation) think that a certain amount should always be held for walk-up sales.
-
The board will have to officially discuss this in a board meeting.
-
Anyway, the show otherwise went off without a hitch and the totally sold out audience loved it.
-
There was no possibility of an extension because the space is being used for the next show, and a couple of people would no longer be available. Oh, well.
-
After the show, we had the cast party at one of the actor's homes and most people (and a few partners) showed up.
-
It officially started at 6:00 pm, and I didn't leave until about 10:45! :D
-
There was much eating and MUCH chatting and a wonderful time was had by all. ;D
-
Can’t complain about a successful show!
-
And NOW, I need to ketchup on all of today's posts.
-
Though I feel bad for the lady who was turned away.
-
Can’t complain about a successful show!
For the most part. ;)
-
Though I feel bad for the lady who was turned away.
ALSO, a family of four (parents and two children, probably 8 year old and a 10 or 11 year old) showed up and were told that the show isn't really appropriate for kids, and they said that nothing was specified online (I thought that something was). They did leave after intermission, so I wonder if they'll contact the board, or ask for a refund. We'll find out.
