Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sleep-inducing, and now it is time for you to post until the sleep-inducing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GLEAN!
-
Topic of the Day: Yes. :)
Actually, I don't think there's a Sherman Brothers song that I didn't like. I do know and love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang a little more than (don't hate me) Mary Poppins, but that's only because I'd known CCBB longer and have seen it more times. I just didn't see MP on TV as often as CCBB.

George, so glad to hear your final performance was such a huge success (even though the overflow house caused some problems). Congratulations to you and the whole cast and crew!

BK wrote about YouTube in the Notes: "I’m trying NOT to go down that rabbit hole, because there are thousands of these videos."
The whole process of YouTube seeming to "know" what other videos a viewer might be interested in based on what we've previously watched IS pretty amazing, though.
One of the most recent". On the day HHW was talking about TV themes, the videos YouTube would offer me following the first five or six theme song videos I'd watched all (or most of) the way through were most entertaining - and when I'd watch those the site would send more and more of them in the recommendations. That was most welcome - although some of the times, the follow-up recommendations are not as welcome.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Still not sleeping late enough for my tastes.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This is weird: I got up at 6:15 or so, got dressed, and lay down to cuddle with Annabelle. When I got up and turned on the computer, it was 7:22!
-
I did sleep rather well last night.
-
It would be hard to pick a favorite Sherman Brothers song. They’re all so wonderful. I read in one obituary that Richard was fond of A Man Has Dreams from Mary Poppins. That’s certainly up there.
-
Step in Time ranks up there.
-
As soon as I finish my breakfast, I'm doing the laundry. I'm taking BK's book with me.
-
I'm hoping we have an excellent health report from our DR vixmom this morning.
-
Tell Him Anything (But Not That I Love Him) from The Slipper and the Rose is gorgeous.
-
I'm hoping we have an excellent health report from our DR vixmom this morning.
Ditto.
-
Over Here! has some great songs: Dream Drumming, Charley's Place, Where Did the Good Times Go?
-
I'm with DRs George and John G! I am so fond of the Sherman Brothers' songs, beginning with "Let's Get Together." I do love the scores to Over Here! and The Slipper and the Rose, but Mary Poppins remains my favorite.
-
And the two times I saw Busker Alley, there was a haunting music box tune that somehow didn’t make it to the cast recording.
-
Favorite Sherman Brothers songs - From their theater work, I've for decades been especially taken with the title song from "Over Here!"
-
From their movie songs, I haven't seen these mentioned yesterday, maybe because they didn't write the whole score - but their two songs for "The Aristocats" were special favorites to me when that soundtrack first came out.
-
Later work:
Two Roads
The Whimsy Works
Mushka’s Lullaby
-
I'm hoping we have an excellent health report from our DR vixmom this morning.
Yes, more health vibes to vixmom.
-
Also more health vibes to Ginny and Richard!
-
At the time that I first took the Disney World "It's a Small World" ride (I was 30 or so at the time, I think it was 1990), I hadn't been aware that the prevailing mood had been to find the repeating of "It's a Small World" to be annoying. And there was no internet yet to tell me that I should find the repetition annoying. So I loved the song all the way through, for all of the dozens of times it was heard on the ride.

What would have happened if the King had worn a different color?

I watched a documentary yesterday about the Osborne Estate, on the Isle of Wight.
When Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had it build, they decorated in yellow (drapes, upholstery).

Somewhere in a box I have a copy of the limited-edition CD of James Joyce's The Dead.
That's really cool, Singdaw. I keep checking eBay and have never seen one become available. I do have MP3s of the recording, but just not the physical CD.

I enjoyed reading the review from DR Michael.

From John:
I love Lisbon. One of my favorite cities.
With good reason. If our flights are on time we will have a little time to walk around before we crash for the night, and then some time in the morning before we get on a ship.
-
DR John, stay cool today.
-
Thanks for noticing, DR Freddie.
Congratulations, singdaw!

DR George congrats on your over sold-out house.

Excellent. Continue to feel better.

When I went to bed I was pretty sure I had a cold. When I woke up at 2:00am I knew for sure.

We have appointments at the dermatologist tomorrow. I hope wearing a mask will be ok.

Thank you, dear DR Vixmom! And the same to you!
-
I should be stirring, but I don't feel like it.
-
Enjoyed a nap. Now I just want to lie here.
-
And be lazy.
-
Wasn't that an Irving Berlin song?
-
What wasn't?
-
Irving's even said to have written the obscene verse of You're the Top.
-
Onward!

Five
-
You're the top!
You're the mons of Venus

Than you DR Iris.
-
I don't now that I have a favorite Sherman Brothers song. I am rather fond of It's a Small World as it was on the ride at Disneyland that we decided it was time to have a baby.
-
After I gave the cats their treat, I orchestrated 20 bars of the song Joshie brought me, "The Wild Mountain Thyme." I promised it to him on Thursday

-
Hello, everyone.
-
Back from a lovely birthday lunch with bk at ElCholo. A lot of Mexican food was eaten and a lot of conversation conversed.
-
I am now in possession of The New Book, which I will begin tonight. I’ve really been looking forward to this one.
-
Continued recovery vibes to Vixmom and Ginny and Richard. Likewise to anyone not feeling up to snuff.
-
It was nice to see Iris here and I hope she is doing better.
-
Time for a nap, methinks.
-
TTFN.
-
If I had to choose…
I am partial to the songs from Disney’s Winnie the Pooh, as I had (and still have!) an album of songs on Disneyland Records with arrangements by the great Tutti Camarata.
Also had a great kids album of songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by the Richard Wolfe Children’s Chorus. Love it!
Then, Watch Your Footwork from the Happiest Millionaire soundtrack Lp.
-
Went to a luau with ushers from where I volunteer. Most of the people there had some connection to Hawaii.
-
It was quite a wonderful array of food. More tuna sashimi than you could imagine. I brought home a doggie bag.
-
Several coconut cakes, macaroons and many desserts.
-
Hawaiian macaroni salad, lumpia, teriyaki chicken, pulled pork and other goodies.
-
I am happily stuffed.
-
The house was on the north side, beyond the San Antonio limits. The hosts' front yard had half a dozen deer running around it.
-
The backyard had several busy hummingbird feeders (attracting both hummingbirds and bees), while a larger bird feeder attracted a half dozen cardinals and others.

That all sounds fabulous, assuming the bees stayed away from the people.

Yes, and more health vibes to Iris.

So, last night at the The King in Yellow cast party, I was talking with one of the actors who was in the show (and is a friend), and he mentioned that he likes the Hawaiian shirts that I wear.
-
I told him that my sister had a garage sale just the day before and if he wanted to look at what I was getting rid of, he would be more than welcome since not all of them had sold.
-
He asked what size they were and I told him that most were 2X, but there were a couple that were smaller and a few that were larger.
-
He said that 2X might be too big, but maybe they'll shrink.
-
I had them for too long, so they weren't going to shrink any more than they might already have. but he said he'd take a look.
-
He came over to my sister's this afternoon and actually took three shirts. :)
-
They were a little on the small side to begin with, so hopefully, they'll fit well enough...Hawaiian shirts are usually loose, anyway.
-
He said that if they didn't fit, I wouldn't need to give him his money back.
-
I said that if that was the case, he could either donate them, or give them to someone else.
-
So, we'll see how it goes. :)
-
After that, I went to McDonalds for a couple of Big Macs.
-
It turns out that they're having a special right now, buy one and get another one for just a dollar, so I got two Big Macs.
-
I did eat both of them, but I shouldn't have eaten them in one sitting. ::)
-
:P
-
That definitely was too much all at once!
-
If I ever do decide to get the two Big Macs, I can save one and reheat it in a microwave.
-
I figured a way to reheat it so that it turns out really nice.
-
Oh dear, oh dear - STILL on page six.
-
Nix to six.
-
Is George eating a burrito?
-
Carne asada?
-
El Pollo Loco?
-
Fabric softener?
-
Not as nice as a freshly cooked Big Mac, of course, but still pretty good. :)
-
We really must get off this damn page.
-
See?
-
Let's keep going because I do not care for page seven.
-
C'mon George - let's do this.
-
Do this let's.
-
Is George eating a burrito?
Do you not read the posts! I was just waxing philosophically about a McDonald's Big Mac! :D
-
Don't just sit there like a warm pudding, DO something.
-
I am...I'm posting about Big Macs.
-
I like philosophical wax.
-
Don't just sit there like a warm pudding, DO something.
Warm pudding sound pretty good...especially cooked chocolate pudding. ;D
-
Big Macs.
-
I don't mind instant pudding, but just not vanilla.
-
I need to try a Big Mac from a McDonald's that's not MY McDonald's.
-
Instant vanilla pudding has never been very good.
-
The Big Macs there are merely gross.
-
Us boys used to love chocolate pudding.
-
I need to try a Big Mac from a McDonald's that's not MY McDonald's.
They can be hit and miss even at mine, but my standards are pretty low, so I don't usually mind. ;)
-
Especially if the top layer was a bit hard.
-
Us boys used to love chocolate pudding.
I can't remember the last time that I made cooked chocolate pudding.
-
Low Standards - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Especially if the top layer was a bit hard.
My sister loves the "skin" that forms on cooked pudding, too!
-
Gratuitous Post #202!!
-
I think we should all cook up some chocolate pudding.
-
Right about now would be good.
-
New notes are up.
-
Right about now would be good.
Sadly, I don't have any.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I've never made pudding from scratch with an actual recipe.
-
See?
-
I might have to try to make some pudding sometime, especially since I got some new free pans from the local casino.
