Well, you've read the notes, the notes were good notes, good notes-wise, and now it is time for you to post until the wise cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MOMENTUM!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Notes tackled. Unshackled.
-
If anyone remembers the old radio show “Unshackled” originating out of the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. I used to enjoy it as it was the only radio drama in my lifetime. Each episode dramatized the story of some heathen being saved.
-
Last night, BK said that he wanted to brain me, and for some reason, I thought of this:

Ron P, I had a nice chat this past morning with a bespoke headstone carver/engraver running his business out of upstate South Carolina.

Haha!

Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. The cats behaved. I had several dreams, none of which I now remember.
-
I have no plans, but I do have thoughts on what I might do today.

Do I sense a story macabre behind this crypt-ic comment?

This morning, I have my first audiology appointment since acquiring my Phonak hearing aids.
It will take me to Aiken SC. My return will yield a stop at The Fresh Market for fresh fruits and veggies...maybe a pizza.
I hope to be home by 11:30 a.m. inclusive of a stop at the "Don't-Be-A-Square Eat-At-The Triangle" for the weekly cubed steak special.
Young Billy Glanton, who is removing the felled tree from the edge of my yard, should be back today to remove all that remains of the tree and to fill the hole with dirt.
Gosh! I'm almost exhausted just thinking about it all.
-
Am enjoying my morning cup of coffee as I type.
I tuned into CNN last night post-presidential address. What a sh*t-show when a balanced panel makes observations. A man has made a gracious explanation to the American people about his decision and a MAGA moron begins complaining about how dishonest the Biden White House has been and how wrong it was for him to give up his race at this stage of the campaign...after he already has the nomination completely guaranteed.
Methinks (or, rather, methought at that time) what a fragile little stinkweed most MAGAs are. This one, named Brian, I think, is obviously very critical/jealous/scared of the gangbusters response the DNC has gotten since last Sunday's announcement. How DARE they steal "The Dullard's" thunder!!!!
Go, Kamala!!!

I'm glad DR RODZINSKI's story had a happy ending - so to speak.

Stopover: Tokyo.......starring Robert Wagner & Joan Collins....I like that movie.

Tonight is our first blocking rehearsal....because of conflicts I'm just working on about 10 pages with four actors.
But it's a start.
I'll put the cast names on the website later today.
Last night the teenage brother of the young girl who is playing 8-year-Norma brought her to rehearsal and stayed. I gave him a book and asked him to read Frank/Teenage Charlie.
After the read thru he said he was going to check all the dates and he wants to play the part....which is good news. I hope that works out!
-
TOD:
All About Eve
"Some snowy evening in front of the fire."
"Well after all you didn't drain the gas tank yourself."
"All playwrights should be dead 400 years!"
"It is about time the piano realized that it did not write the concerto."
"Slow curtain - the end."
"Do they have auditions for television?" "That's all television is - nothing but auditions."
etc etc etc
-
Oh my, yes, I was in suspense just reading DR Rodzinski's post. What a life saver that vet office was. There are definitely a few of us here who WELL understand the ... uh, suspenseful elements of that story.

The Bach St. John Passion last night was magnificent.
-
I was listening, not performing.
-
Although I have performed it before.
-
The audience did sing on a few of the chorales.
-
It was fun to sing in German again. It has been a while.
-
The conference ends today at lunch time. We are going to drive all the way through until we get home, which will be pretty late this evening.
-
TOD: "What did we learn, Palmer?" from the Coen brothers' Burn After Reading. The whole movie is like a setup to that final scene with JK Simmons and David Rasche.
-
The Ref:
Caroline: One bad review in one lousy magazine, you just give up!
Lloyd: Now hold on, stop right there. If you recall, it wasn't one bad review in one lousy magazine, it was the Restaurant Guidebook of New York! And when the Restaurant Guidebook recommends you to "Hindus looking for a fun night out of fasting," what do you expect me to do, change the menu?
-
The Ref again:
You know what, Mom? You know what I'm going to get you next Christmas? A big, wooden cross. So anytime you feel unappreciated for all your sacrifices, you can climb on up and nail yourself to it.
-
The Ref is a gold mine of great quotes
-
So does Hairspray (the original):
I wish I was at a hootenanny in Harlem.
-
Hairspray: As you all know, today is special education's turn at the dodgeball tournament. So let's get into the locker room, put on those gym outfits, and show them that special education is nothing to laugh about.
-
Three!
-
I'm a checkerboard chick!
-
And Divine's divine growl: My diet pill's wearing off.
-
Of course, one could quote all of Casablanca.

Thank you Freddie & George.

I had a nice surprise today. I've always wondered why, after recording Dearest Enemy in 2012, The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization never put the show into its rental catalog. Well, I learned today that it's now in the catalog:

Pre-op cataract surgery VIBES for DR Jane!
I hope you and your doctors find the best solution for you!!
Thank you.

I was hoping for the progressive type lenses that give you overall vision. Alas, it is not recommended with my difficulties. I'm just getting the standard distance vision correction and praying it works without taking away to much of my good close vision.
He did say that if I still need to wear glasses after the surgery they will be light weight vs the heavy glasses I currently wear for my severe nearsightness.
-
I dread falling asleep reading in bed when my tablet falls on my face and I am wearing reading glasses. It hurts enough without glasses on ;D

Well I don't like the Microsoft 365 word processing software that is part of my new system. It's weird. The learning curve is steep. And I can only get documents to be saved as PDFs and when I try save something to a folder - it just goes to the Cloud.
I ordered a 2000 version of Microsoft Word that came yesterday.
I installed it today and I am back in business.....albeit 2000 style.
Maybe as the winter comes along and I have more time, I will do a bit of exploring in MS 365.

Last night's storm missed us, as usual. Other parts of town got lots of rain.

For some reason, recommended videos of short-lived or failed tv shows from the 70's and 80's have been recommended to me.
I don't remember any of them.
Edit: I vaguely remember Angie.

Maybe I didn't watch much tv, even then.

I spoke to my insurance company about the cost. It is a lot less expensive than when Keith had his done years ago. Now they cover the corrective lenes, unless you go with prgressive lenses. Hopefully there won't be any hidden costs.
-
Those of you who have had cataract surgery, did you have an i.v. by an anesthesiologist with lots of calming drugs? That is what I will have, something called MAC.
I have a friend who was given Tylenol along with the numbing drops.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep. Got up at six-forty-five for reasons unknown and then never had time to go back to sleep. May try for a nap after food.

Food should be here in about twenty minutes or so. I have high hopes, oh, yes, i have high hopes.

Shit. This day has been shit. Around 10:00a.m. all hell broke out outside: there's a water leak - I just learned - under the sidewalk in front of our building so the city's crew had to blast out hte sidewalk. Since around 1:30p.m. my toilet has been flushing continuously and we have had no water for use. I can neither do the dinner dishes nor use the bathroom.

I am very embarrassed about the result of the program committee yesterday.....I tried to be the voice of reason.....but that voice was drowned out by illogical buffoons.
Perhaps I will relate the entire story when I get home from rehearsal.....

DR JANE my friend Sandi just had the same surgery last week. I will ask her tonight if she had an IV with drugs.

We were in Banff but never made the 3.5 hour drive to Jasper. I've wanted to return to see Jasper and more of the surrounding area.
-
July 25 (Reuters) - A raging wildfire has devastated the western Canadian tourist town of Jasper, potentially destroying up to 50% of structures, and firefighters were working on Thursday to save as many buildings as possible, authorities said.
Jasper is in the middle of mountainous Jasper National Park, in the province of Alberta. The town and the park, which draw more than 2 million tourists a year, were evacuated on Monday, when officials estimated there were up to 10,000 people in the town and a further 15,000 visitors in the park.

I had an IV of calming drugs, no idea what they were. I wasn't aware of feeling them, even when they got down to business, and I was conscious the whole time. I just laid there and enjoyed it, but while I remember some voices and images, it was obvious that the anesthesia also made me forget stuff. My doctor enjoyed hearing my impressions of what I'd heard and saw.

Rodzinski, that's exciting that you're going to Tokyo!
We'll have to call him "Toykyo Rodz" after that!!
You can call me that now!
-
I'm glad DR RODZINSKI's story had a happy ending - so to speak.
I just wanted to hug the kids at the reception desk, which would have been odd. But I’m in an unfamiliar city, they could’ve been like, “sorry, no public restroom, buddy.” Then the real entertainment would have begun because I was out of options, so to speak. Whew, is all I can reiterate.

When we first moved here Keith found a bathroom app he put on his phone for me. It wasn't great and he deleted it, however, we did learn which businesses were friendly. Then covid put a stop to that. Now they are open again.

I just tried that. There are hot and cold valves under the bathroom sink that turn off the water in the sink. It did notthing to turn off the toilet, and there's no other valve.
-
I called the incompetent maintenance service our landlord uses - the ass who told me at 1:00 that the toilet would stop running when the water was turned back on - and they said they can do nothing until tomorrow. This is ridiculous.

My audiology appointment went very well, and I had a great The Fresh Market experience getting grapes, nanners, Buffalo chicken wings, white cheddar macaroni, a Greek pizza and a bottle of milk,
I returned to Johnston at about 8 minutes past 11 and got my cubed steak with green beans and mac 'n' cheese for lunch.
As it turns out, Billy Glanton, my tree dude, had texted me about waiting until Saturday to remove the rest of the tree detritus. He rightly cited the weather. We have had some big rains today, and it is pouring right now.
We did have a spell of pretty weather that lasted about two hours, but the storms keep moving through and will contiinue through tomorrow.

George & Rodzinski, I just opened the ballot to vote early and didn't realize how many people are running for governor ;D
I know! I had no idea that there would be that many, either!
I had to take a break from reading about ALL the people running for various positions. Easy decisions are for my senator and congresswoman.

I am confused. My MicroSoft 365 program has word already on it, plus Powerpoint and Excel.

DR JANE my friend Sandi did have the IV with calming drugs....she thought it was fentynal she said....it was very effective.
Thank you. Fentynal seems a bit strong for me so it is good to know.
-
I am feeling very svelte.
;D

The director of Something Rotten had to order a pair of tights size 6X for a gentleman in her show,,,,,
???
I cannot imagine anyone wanting to wear size 6X tights who would be on a stage.
I know.

I know whereof you speak. It happened to me once when I was dropping clothes at my dry cleaning place in Oakland, a place I had frequented for 20 years.
The first thing I was told was that the restroom wasn't for the public, but they must have seen a look on my face that said I'd be removing clothing while I was there for them to add to my laundry.
They were very nice about it, and I have never forgotten it.

And I'm sorry for the mild disappointment you experienced over the lenses you will be getting. Still, any improvement is good.

TOD:
One of my favorite "Friends" moments, out of several hundred (!), was a scene involving Joey, Rachel and (IIRC) Phoebe. They are discussing Rachel's infatuation with her assistant Tag/
Joey: "If he doesn't like you, then this is all just a moo point... it's like a cow's opinion, you know, it just doesn't matter. It's moo."

Thank you though I was expecting to be disappointed. My fear is that the end results will not be an improvement and that my vision will be worse.
With luck my fears will have been for nothing and my vision will have improved.

...of A Christmas Carol - the Alan Menken version.....
Nothing I said could change the mind of the bully that pushed it through.....so I gave up.....this INSTEAD of The Sound of Music.....
I am mortified......we look like idiots.....or worse.....
Today is Christmas in July. Don't know that I know of Christmas in June. Jus use the heat of the summer as a means of selling a cool Yule.

Tonight's noir is Port of New York. It was You Brenner's first film. He's the villain. And he's creepy evil.
-
It's no award winner.
-
The announcer at the airport in this movie says Los Angeles with a hard G, as if it were angle. And the narrator says LaGuardia as if it were guard.
-
Seven!
-
DR JOHN G you are assuming that I support the decision.
-
No word from NYC. If anyone knows William Berlind please email him and ask him if he has received the script for THREE ARRESTS OF FRANCES FARMER.
-
It is 67 degrees here....and very comfortable.
-
I now have three days in a row OFF from the theeder.....which I haven't had since April.
I hope to enjoy myself greatly.
-
TOD:
After seeing Albert's mother Conrad Birdie says:
"Man, I hope I never git dat TENSE!"
-
DR JOHN G you are assuming that I support the decision.
No. I understand you don't. I was just making a bad marketing suggestion.
-
The last seven minutes of Port of New York were good. So was You Brenner. The rest was a wash.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Rodzinski, that's exciting that you're going to Tokyo!
We'll have to call him "Toykyo Rodz" after that!!
You can call me that now!
;D
Will you stay in Tokyo the entire time?
Yes. Staying in a small hotel and exploring the city. The kids have a lot of stuff they want to do.
-

Let me know what your thoughts are on Gov. We can have an HHW voting block.
-
Once again, George is honoring his "jam," a now nightly occurrence. Most unseemly.
-
I'm sure he'll show up at one minute to midnight, unless he's having a narcoleptic moment.
-
Or eating a burrito and a ham sandwich.
-
One thing is for certain: I do not care for page seven.
-
And yet, here we are.
-
Like a can of fish entrails.
-
Well, it's nearly 7:30 and the toilet continues to flush and we have no water. I am not amused. No, I am not amused.
Larry, can you at least turn off the water valve behind the toilet?
I just tried that. There are hot and cold valves under the bathroom sink that turn off the water in the sink. It did notthing to turn off the toilet, and there's no other valve.
That's too bad. I have one valve coming out of the wall behind the toilet that supplies the water to the tank.

Gratuitous Post #200!!

Well in June next year at the barn....to open our season....we will be doing the musical version of.......
...of A Christmas Carol - the Alan Menken version.....
Nothing I said could change the mind of the bully that pushed it through.....so I gave up.....this INSTEAD of The Sound of Music.....
I am mortified......we look like idiots.....or worse.....
A Christmas Carol? In June?? :o
-
Speaking of fish entrails - where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Like clockwork, he shows up at one minute to midnight. What was tonight's adventure, pray tell.
-
Heaven knows, Mr. Allison.
-
Certainly, I don't know.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Now they can be read.
-
And they should be read.
-
And they will be read.
-
Meanwhile, George just sits there like a can of fish entrails rather than posting.
-
The announcer at the airport in this movie says Los Angeles with a hard G, as if it were angle. And the narrator says LaGuardia as if it were guard.
There's a local theater company named Harlequin Productions. It's always been pronounced "HAR-luh-kwin," but a couple of WCPA volunteers pronounce it "HAR-luh-kin." :-\

Another Bye Bye Birdie quote is, "Don't forget to wear your rubbers!"

:))
-
Ahh...what innocent times they were.
-
;)
-
Or eating a burrito and a ham sandwich.
Today was Jersey Mike's. :)
-
I had their Club Sub with pickles added.
-
It was QUITE delish!
-
I also have them put on "the juices" (I hate that phrase in this context) before they put on the tomatoes.
-
That way it gets into the lettuce and isn't just splashed all over the place because of the flat tomatoes.
-
It just makes no sense to do it that way. ::)
-
Like clockwork, he shows up at one minute to midnight. What was tonight's adventure, pray tell.
I was at my mom's this afternoon (before going to Jersey Mike's) to cut down some limbs of her rhodie bushes.
-
Also, I don't think ol' George ever responded to an e-mail.
-
No, he did not.
-
My mom planted them not to long after we moved here in 1976, and there were some fairly thick limbs.
-
Not very sporting.
-
Also, I don't think ol' George ever responded to an e-mail.
Oh, sorry! :o
-
I did read it though.
