Well, you've read the notes, the notes welcomed October, and now it is time for you to post until the October cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ASSIDUOUSLY!

Good morning, all!
-
A terrible night of sleep, I couldn't get to sleep, and both Thatch and Stella were restless. Around 4:30 Annabelle woke me as she coughed up a hairball.
-
I'm not sure what's on today's calendar. I think Jason Buell will stop by around noon with "Little Lamb" for me. Joshie is in a band rehearsal for Ragtime today.
-
Beyond that, I'm looking forward to tonight's debate. I want Tim Walz to mop the floor with JD Vance.
-
Happy Oneth of October!
-
I hope everyone has a very nice day.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Went to bed last night at 9:30pm. Couldn't fall asleep until sometime after 1:30am.
-
Blech.
-
.
-
Lots of good stuff to eat today.
-
But not black dogs, no.
-
It's October. Boo!
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
October the Oneth, indeed, and things seem unsettled due to so much going on at present.
I think a bunch of us feel that way.
-
Tuesday.
I am also looking forward to the debate, although I don't think there are many undecided voters out there now.
-
Our contractor is supposed to come over today to plan the rest of those repairs from the tree damage back in January. They got the roof replaced in good time, but we've all had delays and now it's time to do some finishing up.
-
I just got hired to accompany a small (and actually quite short - less than one hour) violin master class next Monday at one of the larger high schools that has an orchestra program. That will be fun, playing a couple of the pieces (Weiniawski concerto, Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole) that were de rigueur (pardon my French) when I was in school. I guess they're still pretty rigueur.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Ken Page has died. He was wonderful in Ain't Misbehavin'.
-
Happy Oneth of October!
:) Ooh, I like that!

It's October. Boo!
Great photo!

Two-hour sleepless bout in the middle of the night. I hope I don't fall asleep during the opera tonight.

I love Percy Faith's recordings of Kismet, Do I Hear a Waltz? and Subways Are for Sleeping.

Really nice photo!
-
Neat photo.
-
Starting I, the Jury. Never saw it. Larry Cohen screenplay. Moody, effective Bill Conti score. So many ways to go wrong.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to the mail place.
-
Sorry to hear about Ken - lovely man.
-
This movie is really bad. And the movie can cover only so many sins.
-
Two-hour sleepless bout in the middle of the night. I hope I don't fall asleep during the opera tonight.
Which opera? Did you say earlier and I missed it?
-
It's the mariachi opera, Cruzar la Cara de la Luna.
-
Up from a nap.
-
Another great gone. John Amos was in Good Times. He was also the best Troy in Fences I ever saw.
-
Beyond that, I'm looking forward to tonight's debate. I want Tim Walz to mop the floor with JD Vance.
Ditto! But I won't be able to watch it until I get home after my rehearsal. :-\

NOOOOOO! :'(
-
Ain't Misbehavin' is one of my all-time favorite revues! It was one of the very first cast albums that I listened to as a kid, and it helped me fall in love with musicals and Broadway shows.

Wow! Wonderful photo! :D
-
When John Amos left Good Times, I stopped watching.
DAMN DAMN DAMN.
-
Really fascinating to see the costuming for the two leads of SUNSET BOULEVARD taking their bows
The bows are from 0:19 to 2:20 here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfOQToGSgoQ
Then, if you keep watching: Nicole Scherzinger came out to sign autographs in full "bloody" regalia.
-
Um.......what in the holy HELL?
-
I don't want to dwell on the local disruptions, but I cannot get over how weird, odd and unsettling it is to find that it is a hit-or-miss chance of finding a station with functional gas pumps.
Of course, it doesn''t help that hoarding is an ever-present issue as folks are filling their vehicles plus 5- and 10-gallon gas cans. Cars line up around street blocks waiting to get a turn at filling up.
Truth is, the only real trouble is that tankers can get through with gas IF folks stop clogging the gas stations waiting for gas.
We defeat outselves at times.

An awful situation!
Vibes that you're able to get the gas that you need.

She does shoot him in the pool, so at least there's a perfectly logical reason for Tom Francis to still be in a bathing suit at the curtain call, right? :)

This morning, before it got too hot, we took a two hour hike in Capitol Reef National Park.
-
The distance wasn't far, however, I went slowly over the stopping rocks.
-
We also kept stopping to enjoy the scenery.
-
Here's a one-minute (hard-to-hear) clip of the NYC staging of the SUNSET BOULEVARD title song, as he walks from the St. James Theater to Shubert Alley
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MObXObFHtnE
(and stops at the SUNSET BOULEVARD poster in Shubert Alley)

The view at the top was worth the hike.

You are most welcome DR JANE.....thanks for sharing the photos on Facebook.
-
DR FREDDIE thanks for sharing those videos......I also will be purchasing the cast album.
And nay chance to see Joe in his trunks is most welcome...especially since he is most handsome.
-
The new "NOW" staging looks interesting and certainly seems to serve to score well...although Norma seems a bit YOUNG-ish.
-
In a most egregious omission, I have NOT been nominated for the annual UPSTAGE award at the Putnam County Playhouse......I have won FIVE times since 1979 and certainly should receive at least ONE MORE nomination/win before retirement in the future.
-
As I always say at the annual meeting when it comes time for the presentation:
"The Upstage Awards - or as it is known at my house - Passover."
Thank you, Mr. Bob Hope.

Tiny filling needed. It’s on the other side of the tooth that was filled last time.

They have obviously set up the shooting to something close-range. In the movie, he was shot from a distance, fully clothed.
-
Local TV stations, including PBS, are "off air" because they don't have the power to fully broadcast signals. Isn't that weird?!!!
I can get a lot of TV, but no local news or PBS seems strange.

I'll get there eventually.

I am a bit nervous about the debate tonight between Tim Walz and the weirdo
Walz has been open about not being a good debater.
Should I watch, or should I wait for the MSNBC recap?

So, I was going through YouTube short, and this randomly came up:
How Do You Do, I Love You (1967, Westbury) Phyllis Newman, Jay Gerber, Carole Cook, Joey Baio- Songs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tnjJNraDpk)
Score by Maltby & Shire!

True. It might not even need a shot first.

Page FOUR?
-
At this hour?
-
Someone has some 'splainin' to do.
-
Meanwhile...
-
I picked up two important envelopes.
-
Went to Hugo's and had pasta papa - very good.
-
Went to both banks - no waiting at all.
-
Came home.
-
Played through the songs - happy with all of them - made a couple of adjustments.
-
Now just trying to get them into my fingers so I can play them well.
-
That's always the hard part. Thankfully, the recordings have things correctly for the accompaniment. I'm especially struggling with the vamp to the fourth song, rhythm-wise, but it's on the recording correctly.
-
October and we're back to really hot temperatures.
-
I'm really bored of the heat. Need some nice rainy days.
-
Later in the day, I had a Caesar salad from Gelson's - no chicken.
-
That's it for food.
-
I'll need to buy Diet Cokes tomorrow.
-
What the HELL - is there gaslighting going on?
-
I mean, there must be 100 posts on this page already.
-
See? Gaslighting 101. Who are they trying to kid.
-
You can't kid a kidder.
-
You can't kid Nicole Kidman.
-
You can't kid Billy the Kid.
-
You can't kid Kid Galahad.

You can't kid Margot Kidder.

You can't kid the kiddies.

Forgot I bought it earlier.

On its way to me - Maigret, a new film by Patrice Leconte, a director I really like, and I love anything Maigret. I've been wanting to revisit the Maigret series with Bruno Cremer. Georges Simenon was amazing - so many movies made from his books. Apparently, he wrote 200 books under his own name, and they suggest many others under various pseudonyms. Trying to find out what those are.
-
Gonna watch The Other tonight.
-
I've been really enjoying the soundtrack.
-
I watched those cast members of Sunset taking their bows, and boy: all I could think of was, they look so GRIM!
Grim AND bloody.

The opera was unique and uniquely wonderful.

The one time I took it, several years ago, I don't think mine was free.
-
I’ll write more later. Food just arrived.

But it made my tastebuds free from sensation.

So there's that.

I have priorities.

Actually, it was more of a constant metallic taste.

Ick.

Cruzar was an opera with spoken dialogue and some beautiful arias performed by a mariachi band on three sides of the stage. The story had to do with a migrant worker who leaves his wife and son behind in Mexico. They try to join him but the mother dies en route. The father spends 20 years trying to find his son, who disowns him. Now nearing death and suffering from dementia, the father, his other, younger son and granddaughter are trying to make the best of it. The granddaughter locates her uncle and there is a touching reunion. The story is less linear than I have recounted.
-
The mariachi sound was not as limited as BK’s close, personal friend Stephen Sondheim described it. There were two lovely waltzes, and the strings added greatly. I did tear up.
-
The libretto was in both English and Spanish. The supertitles went back and forth, offering a translation opposite to what was being said or sung.
-
My new free COVID test kids expire 12/25/24 (expanded expiration date). Not great. But they were free.
:o
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
A wonderful movie with a beautiful score.
-
More in the notes.
-
Wunderbar.
-
I'm not kidding.
-
Not that again.
-
Good night, all.
-
Just a scant few posts until page 8.
-
I enjoyed John Amos’s interview about when he was fired from Good Times over the phone by Norman Lear.
“He asked me if I had anything I wanted to say. I said, ‘Nope.’ Recalcitrant to the end!”
-
Hope the situation improves for Ron P.
-
Wasn't there also a Crisco Kid?
Would that have been the porn version?

I'll have to watch some YouTube vids later.
-
Today before I left for rehearsal in Tacoma, I filled my gas tank at Fred Meyer's gas pump.
-
Gas was $3.74⁹ per gallon.
-
I drove up and when I got back to Tumwater, I filled up again.
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
I drove 66.4 miles round-trip. :P
-
That's pretty much my rehearsal commute each day...four days a week until teck week, then I'll have to go up each day for a week and a half! :o
-
And I just did the math and I figured that I get 32 miles per gallon on the freeway.
-
That's not great, but I do have all-wheel drive, so there's that.
-
There's some road construction on the south-bound lanes in the evenings for the next few days, so tonight it took me close to an hour to get home instead of the usual-ish 35-40 minutes.
-
I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.
-
In the nick of time.
-
I've been writing notes.
-
And reading about the movie I watched.
-
Thank goodness we got to page eight.
-
Don't think we're going to make page nine.
-
Then again, you never know.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They're ready to be read, which is ready without the Y.
-
Listening to an interesting symphony by Gail Kubik - it's appealing in its way - his second symphony.
-
Aren't we all appealing in our own ways?
-
I think we are.
-
Where'd George go?
-
Must be burrito time.
-
Aren't we all appealing in our own ways?
One certainly hopes.
-
I haven't had a burrito in quite some time.
-
I may have to rectify that.
-
Guess I'll change the topic.
-
Where'd George go?
I was resizing some kitchen photos to post, but I should probably post them in the new day.
-
I may have to rectify that.
Yes, you must!
-
Although I do see page nine lurking in the wings.
-
And here it is.
-
PAGE NINE BURRITO DANCE!!

Tonight for dinner, I had some frozen meatballs in some Alfredo sauce mixed with some marinara sauce.
-
The mixed sauces were good, but the meatballs were just okay. :-\
