Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nice and had comments, and now it is time for you to post until the nice cows come home.

~~~Vibes for a Modern Major Miracle or Five for BK!!~~~
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have a dctor's appointment today, so I am up early to accomplish al;l I need to do before I leave.
-
I slept rather well, with a lot of dreams that I now remember nothing about. I woke up with the melancholy Gershwin tune "Whip-poor-will" runningb through my mind.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
What if Anthony walked out on stage holding a banana and sang:
I'll peel you
Banana...
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
If fulgent was a school course, I wonder who would get an "F" in fulgent?
-
~~~CONTINUED MULTIPLE MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK
-
START YOUR DAY WITH FULGENT!
-
Wherever fine things are sold.
-
Good morning, all.

TOD 1:
In fourth grade, it was Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys.
In fifth grade, it was all about Agatha Christie 's finest and Perry Mason.
I somehow managed to get in trouble at school for all of the above. The fourth grade teacher hated mysteries and forbade us from taking them out at any point in the classroom. The Perry Mason covers were too risque for a Lutheran school.

And more vibes for BK to have a modern major miracle or five!
-
Who decides these things?
Dewey. Without Huey or Louie.
-
Good morning.
-
Phooey
-
I made it to the theater way early. No rush hour traffic this morning.
-
TOD 2:
I didn’t read detective novels again until college. I fell in love with Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe then, after seeing the film of Farewell, My Lovely. Then Dashiell Hammet’s Sam Spade and Nick and Nora Charles, and Ross Macdonald’s Lew Archer.
Noir in so many colors.
-
Notes plastered. Embiggened.
-
Are You There Gauguin? It’s Me, Magritte.
-
A lesser Judy Blume work.
-
Not to be confused with the musical version, which was a Loesser-Judy Blume work.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I could really use some extra sleep this morning. Maybe a li’l nap later?
-
Not to be confused with lesser bloom work, which is what a Bonsai artist does.
-
Kids’ school Christmas concert today. Hope to hear some bangers, as the young folk say.
-
Last year got too far off onto the multicultural path for some parents, so no Kwanza suite this year, it sounds like straight-ahead basics. 1st grader is doing Jingle Bell Rock and Rudolph. 4th graders got Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree. The whole lot will unite for We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
-
My son feels a little rude, demanding figgy pudding in such a crass manner, so I told him to lay out of that verse if he feels that strongly about it.
-
What even is figgy pudding, and has John G made some?
-
M’y fig tree in the backyard actually seems to be producing a winter crop right now.
-
Which will be entirely eaten by squirrels and birds.
-
Who may make their own figgy pudding.

Kids’ school Christmas concert today. Hope to hear some bangers, as the young folk say.
Vibes that it's a great concert this year!

I hope DR JOHN G is enjoying the Nutcracker Suite.
-
Concert vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

MMM vibes for MR BK.
Have a nice Apple visit.

It is Prep Day.
It will start in midafternoon.
I have a couple of things to get done before then.

I need to box up the old modem and take it to the UPS store.

Can we say "cruel and inhumane" ?
-
I'm up, I'm up - another rough night in Jericho - maybe five and a half hours of sleep.
-
A 7:30 a.m. rehearsal should be unconstitutional.

From DR John:
It's basically about how Austin lost its soul, went corporate and became the home of a'holes like Alex Jones and Elon Musk.

Good afternoon
-
I am currently enjoying a sandwich consisting of brioche bread , slathered with cold gravy and a nice slab of leftover meatloaf
-
I do enjoy my meatloaf
-
I always hated it growing up, but my mom and I have vastly different recipes and that makes all the difference
-
I enjoyed Nancy Drew very much during my youth
-
I very much enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes stories.
-
And the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series that was on PBS
-
I also enjoyed the first couple of seasons of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch, but found my interest waning in the last season
-
David Suchet's Hercule Poirot was also a favorite
-
Is Rumpole of the Bailey considered a mystery or just a straight law show?
-
TOD: Spenser and Marlowe. Sounds like a law office when put that way.
-
Miss Marple was always fun , in all the different versions
-
My childhood detective stories were the Encyclopedia Brown series.

Guess I'll wordle

I am back from all my errands. I love my podiatrist, Dr Corrado, and we had a nice visit. Then, I went to my neighborhood barber and got my gift haircut.
-
The Access-a-Ride driver taking me to 22nd Street was wonderful, one of the best AAR folk I've ever encountered. When he told me he was Dominican, I thought, I hope he's not someone on Tramp's deportation list.
-
The AAR driver who brought me back was one of the absolute worst I've encountered. Lordy me!
-
I was never a mystery fan until 1958, when my family went to spend Christmas holiday with my dad's brothesr in Tucson, Arizona. My cousin Betty Jean had what appeared to be the complete Nancy Drew series. I spent tjhe holiday reading most of them.
-
I've only read one Sherlock Holmes mystery, The Hound of the Baskervilles. The only Agatha Christie novels I've read are The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and Ten Little Indians aka And Then There Were None.
-
My childhood detective stories were the Encyclopedia Brown series.
I loved those too.
-
In the 1970s, while I lived in Ohio, I read all of Dashiell Hammett and a lot of Raymond Chandler. I remember little about each author's books now. I blame Stephen King.
-
In recent years, I have become a Maigret fan. They’re comfortable without being cozies.
-
In the cozy category, I read a lot of the Cat Who … books and the Stephanie Plum books.
-
The Girl Who … books were wonderful. Dark. Thrilling.
-
And I liked Stephen King’s foray into mysteries that started with Mr. Mercedes and includes Holly Gibney.
-
I’m also enjoying the fun Jane Austen mysteries that Claudia Gray is writing.
-
Never got into Sue Grafton or the Warshawski mysteries.
-
Reading John D. MacDonald’s Travis McGee novels got me into a lot of Florida writers including James Hall.
-
Of course, I love Bosch and Michael Connelly’s other mystery solvers.
-
Many writers out there. Too little time.
-
Onward!

Back from a couple of poached eggs on an English muffin, taking clothings to the dry cleaners, then going to the Apple Store to check out the new Mac Mini and their 27-inch monitor and got the price for that, and then the all-in-one 24-inch iMac. Less real estate, of course and I'm quite used to the 27-inch. I do need the 1 TB version of either - difference in cost is about six hundred bucks, I think. Porting over my entire computer could take days, they said, so they recommended I get it all on a hard drive - I have a 5TB drive here - just need the adapter for USB-A to USB-C. That way, I can still use my computer. If I do it wirelessly, I could also use my old 2011 laptop and basically just do the notes.
-

In 2017-2018, when I first adopted Annabelle and Thatch, I read all of Lilian Jackson Braun's "The cat Who . . ." books, every single one in sequence. I b elieve the last two or three are written for her, and they are not as good.
-
I'm not sure I'd call them mysteries, but my favorite author for the past forty years has been Carl Hiaasen.
-

I bought the 24" iMac in August 2023. I like mine very much.

Prep is starting in 30 minutes.

Should we be saying anything like "Places, everyone" in 29 minutes?
-
Do you actually drink something yucky to start the process?

Gratuitous post #100.

I suppose I can relax until it's time to get ready for the belated birthday dinner.

Enjoy your evening.

Stirring from a nap..
-
I did not get to see any of Nutcracker this morning. It was a one-hour version of act two and was a sensory performance.
-
It started at 10 and people arrived up until about 10:25. For some reason it was cut short and ended at 10:45.
-
A couple of kids were shriekers. Their parents did not use the calm room.
-
Maybe I will get to see more Friday night when I usher again.
-
Have fun at the party MR BK.
-
I just had time to go to the UPS store to drop off the old Modem for return to Xfinity.
It was a madhouse.....a madhouse I tell you.....it was what it must have been like on the Titanic when folks realized all the lifeboats were gone.
I am pleased to say I made it out alive.
-
DR FREDDIE I took the choice of 28 oz of Gatorade and 12 caps full of Miralax.
-
Have you done this combination before?
-
Should we be saying anything like "Places, everyone" in 29 minutes?
I daresay it's DR Jrand74 who needs to be in "Places"... now... or soon... AND later.

DR FREDDIE I took the choice of 28 oz of Gatorade and 12 caps full of Miralax.
The Gatorade part sounds enjoyable.
The Miralax, however ...

Yes, hoping Friday will be a better experience for you!

Of course, I love Bosch and Michael Connelly’s other mystery solvers.
Ditto on those.
-
I never really cared for mysteries when I was young. While I read Nancy Drew books I wasn't a fan and preferred The Hardy Boys.
-
My mother and brother read Agatha Christie. I liked the movie And Then There Were None but didn't read her books until I was an adult. Her stories I really enjoyed were the Tommy & Tuppence Mysteries.
-

We've been enjoying the TV series of Michael Connelly's Lincoln Lawyer. A real favorite!
Skip really enjoyed the Bosch TV series, too.
-
Another vote from me for Encyclopedia Brown, a favorite of mine in my younger years.

Skip really enjoyed the Bosch TV series, too.
While we love the Bosch & Bosch: Legacy we are not fans of the Lincoln Lawyer series. For me, I did not like the changes from the novels or the fact that Mickey Haller suddenly has an accent.
-
FIVE!
Ooh, really nice graphic for the page turn!
Thanks.
-
I loved Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies, and then the books, and then other movies, and then the tv series. Of course we were fans considering we named our dog Sherlock.
-
Good afternoon.
-
While I preferred The Thin Man movies with William Powell & Myrna Loy, I also liked the books.
-
I just watched the prequel to Eloise at Christmastime, which was Eloise at the Plaza, combining the first Eloise book with Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince and a bit of Cinderella. It's quite funny, and most importantly, the casts for both movies are retained so the Plaza staff from silent Max, the elkevator man, to Mr Peabody remain the same. Christine Baranski as Prunella Stickler has a wonderful scene at the hotel's mailbox, but Gavin Creel has a better role in Christmastime. It's on Amazon Prime, like Eloise at Christmastime, and if you loved the Eloise books as I did, you'll habve a great time.
Hillary Knight has a cameo as a street artist and Eloise says (several times) "Think pink," which is Eloise's creator Kay Thompson;s song in the film Funny Face. It's a funny love letter to Manhattan and a wonderful set-up for the Christas holiday sequel, which is, I think, the better film.
-
To?
-
Just finished In a Lonely Place. I had seen it before and didn’t care for it. This time, it moved me, more for Gloria Grahame than Bogart. It was still a little hampered by the censorship of the day, but I really liked it.
-
Turns out Grahame was married to the director Nicholas Ray at the time they made In a Lonely Place, but they were separated. Explains a certain wariness about her performance.
-
to be seated at the piano
Seated one day at the organ...

I am currently enjoying a sandwich consisting of brioche bread , slathered with cold gravy and a nice slab of leftover meatloaf
You could do like Monica on Friends and have the "moist maker..."
A middle slice of bread, soaked in gravy.
-
We also enjoyed Eloise at Christmastime yesterday. Thanks for the heads up, DR John G., and the boost recommendation from DR elmore3003.
-
When I was of a certain age, I enjoyed the The Three Investigators series.
-
Lately, Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series.
-
Lately, Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series.
I too enjoy these.

Yes DR JANE I used this combination the last time.

DR Jrand74, you always make me laugh.

In a good way.

I am not laughing at your current situation, however.
-
Instead, I am sending you ~~~PROCEDURE VIBES~~~ for tomorrow.

Sending Jrand more procedure vibes!

To answer an earlier post.

He apparently liked it.

No one else did.

It wasn't bad, just nothing special.

-
Good night, all.
-
Nice page-turn monologue, John G!
-
Figgy pudding mysteries solved.
-
I believe the “moistmaker” was Ross’s thing.
-
Donald J. Sobol, who wrote the Encyclopedia Brown books, had another series I loved as a kid, Two-Minute Mysteries, featuring Detective Haledjian.
-
Every mystery was 2 pages long and ended with the question like, “HOW DID DR. HALEDJIAN KNOW?
-
Then you turned the book upside-down to get the answer.
-
It was fun although there was some recycling of ideas between the two book series.
-
Christmas concert was a joy to behold.
-
I felt a little sorry for the Canadian children who are destined to grow up in the U.S. vassal state of Canada.
-
DR FREDDIE I took the choice of 28 oz of Gatorade and 12 caps full of Miralax.
I was given the prescription preparation and while I can't say that it was "pleasant" by any means, it really wasn't uncomfortable at all.
-
While I preferred The Thin Man movies with William Powell & Myrna Loy, I also liked the books.
I have no idea what the actual show was about, but I really do enjoy the Broadway cast recording of the musical version.

-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.
-
Topic of the Day:
I was never a reader of detective stories while growing up, nor (much) after growing up.
-
I did, however, read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and the two (I think) sequels, as well as the Cormoran Strike series (and i still have the newest to read), written by the pseudonymous Robert Galbraith.
-
And now...
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
Today, my niece and I went to my mom's to decorate her house for the season.
-
First, we assembled and then decorated her (artificial) Christmas tree.
-
And here is a picture of said tree:
-
New notes are written.
-
I, on the other hand, have rinsed, brushed, and am ready for bed.
-
Here's my mom's mantle:
-
I smell fresh as a daisy.
-
I do have a suspicion that page eight is waiting in the wings.
-
Like now.
-
See?
-
Enter page eight.
-
But shouldn't we be on page ten?
-
Not very sporting.
-
Say what?
-
What say?
-
And here's the hearth:
-
I haven't done an Uber in over two years, I think.
-
I don't think I've ever done Lyft.
-
At least not by myself.
-
I might have been in the car with someone who did it.
-
Who can remember such things.
-
Why does the posting time seem lethargic for the last few posts?
-
Why do I seem lethargic?
-
Lethargy, let's face the fact, is lethargic.
-
So excited to get my new crown and finally be able to chew on both sides of my mouth without fear of crowns coming loose and trying to get them back where they belong, which is what I've been dealing with for six YEARS.
-
Also anxious to get a proper teeth cleaning.
-
And from here on in I will be a good fellow and see a dentist every six months.
-
Was a burrito mentioned?
-
I didn't have one.
-
Lethargic.
-
Really lethargic.
-
There suddenly seem to be a lot of pop-up food jernts around my neighborhood. Perhaps I'll try one.
-
It's a phenomenon, these pop-ups.
-
The one at the car wash up the street is Philly cheesesteaks.
-
Then there are several outside the mall in the parking lot.
-
Where'd George get to?
-
I know not.
-
Suddenly disappeared.
-
I do have a suspicion that page nine is waiting in the wings.
-
See?
-
Enter page nine.
-
I see the name George. But I do not see the posts.
-
He's just sitting there like a lump of clay.
-
Where'd George get to?
Youtube. ::)
-
A Lump of Clay - that's the title of my next novel.
-
YouTube is the devil's doing.
-
The devil dood it.
-
Soon there'll be a new topic.
-
Sooner than soon.
-
Coming soon to a theater near you.

Let's all go to the lobby, let's all go to the lobby.

Some BonBons would be good.

Or a Charms sucker.

New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I will admit to doing a couple of things (or at least similar things), but I won't say what they were. ;)
-
I wrote them.
