Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the return of the leading lady, and now it is time for you to post until the leading cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IWIS!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

Good morning, all!
-
When we had no hot water, I turned up the radiator, thinking that was the reason the cats and I were freezing. Well, now that the water is hot again, the apartment is too warm, and I blame it and two appendages I like to call "formerly legs"for the lousy night of sleep I had last night. Around 1:30 this morning, I took a tizanidine and that knocked me out for about three hours, but the time between 3:30 and 5:30 turtled by in fits of tossing, turning, and wishing I were dead.
-
Now that I am awake, I'm happy I'm still alive.

Now that I am awake, I'm happy I'm still alive.
Well, that's a great ending to that story!

TOD: Favorite submarine type sandwich would be a Philly cheesesteak. They make a really good one at the Westside Steakhouse across the street from us.
-
On the fast food front, the chicken sandwich from Burger King has been really excellent 90% of the times I've had it. (It seems important to ask for it as a special order, since when they've been sitting under the heat lamps, they can be just not as good.)
-
And the McRib at McDonald's - which is also in a submarine-style shape for the bun and the "rib" - is normally quite excellent, but they only have them for limited times for some reason.

Speaking of being dead, I am totally shocked by the news of Paul Ford's death. I've known Paul since 1983 or so, when he played one of the two pianos in Jerome Kern's Roberta, for which I scored the two movie songs, including the long fashion show. At the time, Paul was sharing an apartment with Bill Tynes, producer of The New Amsterdam Theatre Company. Meeting Paul was the highlight of working on Roberta. The low point was Bill Tynes' diagnosis with AIDS, which killed him in early January, 1987.
Until I quit working for The Drama Book Shop in 1997, I used to see Paul regularly on my way home from work as he was heading into the theatre district to play in the pit of whatever show he was currently working on. Each meeting was a short street encounter containing outrageous dish of performers and shows we liked or disliked and complaints of health and getting older. He was very limited in his likes and dislikes, as you learn in his wonderful book, and often frustrating and highly opinionated to the point of being irritating, but he was a dear friend. a wonderful musician, and I will miss him.
-
If you haven't read Paul's book, I do recommend it.

If I look up Drat! The Cat! on Spotify, I get two Graae numbers from Lost in Boston.

Sorry, a playlist with one song from Boston and one from Unsung Musicals.

Yes, it's weird that BK's recording of Drat! The Cat! is not on streaming services.

Good morning, friends.

Today is National Cherry Pie Day.

And National Muffin Day.

Do you know the Muffin Man?

He lives in Drury Lane.

I think our cold spell will soon be ending.

It has hung around -30 wind chill for about a week.

But things are looking up.

I have ventured outside so little during this arctic HELL, but I have a voice lesson to accompany this afternoon so that'll get me out for a bit. We might also get up to an inch of ... you know ... this evening, which could happen as I'm returning. I do believe we're in for a good slow thaw starting Sunday or thereabouts.

I owe Paul Ford for A&T getting published. After over 70 literary agent rejections, I sent Paul an email asking how he got a publisher. He said, it's my neighbor. So, I sent Robert an eail "How do you feel abpout publishing whimsy?" And he replied, "Send it to me."

I thought I remembered something like that involving A&T, then I got caught up in the news itself and didn't pursue it.

Sad to hear about Mr. Ford.
Thanks for sharing the stories DR ELMORE.

Do I dare tie this parody song Youtube [still "unlisted"] to the shock of a certain President declaring, even jokingly, being a King? If I lose my nerve, maybe I'll take it down later.
From the articles: “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED,” he wrote. “LONG LIVE THE KING!”
Felt like a possible time to upload our YouTube to the upcoming 250th anniversary of our independence from a King! :)
The U.S. will celebrate our Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026. There's still time to learn how to spell and pronounce it properly.

It is 5 degrees here headed for 21 degrees. We got about 3 inches of S**W last night, but I don't have to go anywhere for a few days and it is going to be in the 40's and 50's by Saturday, so I am not going to shovel anything.....
Well maybe the sidewalk for the mailman.

Good morning, all.

Decent night’s sleep.

Back when I was on Facebook, Paul Ford and I exchanged a few personal messages. Fun because of his opinions. He didn’t hold back. I do want to read his autobiography. Thanks for the reminder, Elmore.

His name is new to me. A friend sent me the "So Long, Farewell" clip, so while listening to that I looked him up. I was struck by his involvement in ballet.

TOD: I love a great Philadelphia roast pork sandwich, with broccoli rabe and sharp provolone. We used to have a place near the Giants ballpark that did a great version but they closed many years ago. One of our local delis has a lovely oven roasted turkey sandwich "Italian style" with artichoke hearts and other fun things. But please, oil and vinegar for dressing, not mayo. Mayo is for sandwiches, not subs / grinders / heros.
-
George, thanks about the line. It was soooo light I expected it to be gone today, which is what happened for Keith both times he had covid. Nope, it is still there ::)

Today we will do errands and I will wear a mask.

I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.

There is nothing like an oil & vinegar dressing for Italian sandwiches. I'm 100% on board with that.

Richard Holmes, Rupert's brother, suggested I ask Spectrum what TV stations I never watch and see if removing them will lower my monthly bill from $244.00.
So, I just got off the phone with Spectrum. My new bill is now $196.00/month.
-
I love a New Orleans style po'boy down to the right bread. The lightly fried shrimp or oysters (or both), a dab of Creole mustard and super fresh vegetables all work together.

On a hoagie with pepperoni, salami, ham, mortadella, provolone, shredded lettuce and tomato.
-
Funny, by raising your bill, they cost themselves more money than they made!
-
I also love a good bahn mi on toasted French bread with meats, Daikon radish, some cilantro and carrot. As for meats, grilled, seasoned chicken is wonderful.

I love a good ham and Swiss on rye with butter, tomatoes and onions. And just a sprinkling of salt.
-
Funny, by raising your bill, they cost themselves more money than they made!
Yes. But Spectrum never counted on Rupert Holmes' brother giving cable consumer advice.
-
The cost of Spectrum was just getting ridiculous, so we switched to Starry.
I do miss Channel 1, which was special to Spectrum, though.
-
Watching the latest season of Miss Scarlet. It’s fun and mindless.

Good afternoon.

TOD: Not something I eat often, but I love meatball subs. I love meatballs.
When we do get subs, it's Quizno's, which is about twice a year. My daughter's favorite.

I’ve been reading Josephine Baker’s memoir. Didn’t know that Georges Simenon was her secretary and lover.

I cannot remember the name of the German who wrote the famous diary of his Berlin life in the 1920s and 30s. I read it in college because he attended the 1928 premiere of The Threepenny Opera. He mentions a party he attended where folies bergere star, a nude Josephine Baker, was having public sex with another woman. It's hard to forget parties like that!

It felt great to go out today even if it was just to Costco and one other stop.
-
I am not a fan of submarine sandwichs and the smell of Subway bothers me. I can smell one before I even see it is there.

Yes. But Spectrum never counted on Rupert Holmes' brother giving cable consumer advice.
I know I never envisioned it either!

Topic of the Day:
My favorite subs are usually the club subs: turkey, ham and chicken (but not roast beef :P ) with various veggies and sauces dependent upon the sub place. :)
-
Some places (like Subway) have specialty subs and I'll get those once in a while, but because they're usually more expensive, I don't get those on a regular basis.
-
And the McRib at McDonald's - which is also in a submarine-style shape for the bun and the "rib" - is normally quite excellent, but they only have them for limited times for some reason.
I do enjoy the limited McRib, also. Before my sister gave up meat, that was one of her favorite McD sandwiches.

I am not happy about the choice of the host of the Tony Awards......but who cares what I think......
You can make your opinion known to all in your acceptance speech.

Rupert awaits.
Mustn't keep Rupert waiting.

Howdy back, DR John G.

I hear that's how they do things in Texas.
-
Although with your temps, it probably doesn't feel like Texas.
-
I do hope your outdoor plants survive.
-
The weekend is nigh.
-
I think I've shared this joke before:
-
Two matrons are standing at one of the billboards outside Lincoln Center, announcing an upcoming concert with Leonard Bernstein.
-
After running through some of his latest accomplishments, the one woman says to the other, "I've heard he's gay!"
-
To which the second woman replies, with amazement, "Is there anything that man can't do?"
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Back to Miss Scarlet. I will finish all but one episode tonight.
-
I do enjoy this show, even if it is all over the place.
-
Since the Duke left, the show hasn't found a consistent tone.
-
I still like Miss Scarlet, and apparently so does everyone else.
-
The show has been picked up for season six.
-
The blue pallette has been consistent.
-
But enough of that.
-
Bye, Rupert.
-
Eight!
-
Time for bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
To which the second woman replies, with amazement, "Is there anything that man can't do?"
LOL!
-
Since the Duke left, the show hasn't found a consistent tone.
I really enjoyed MISS SCARLET AND THE DUKE very much, and something felt lost when her co-star left the show. Skip continue watching the show anyway, and I'm just kind of interested, half paying attention to it at this point, doing other things at the same time it's on.
-
So the show still gets the same streaming rating from our household, since they have no idea (nor do they care, probably) how many in the household are really watching.
-
Back from a really good rehearsal. Got everything done.
-
And now, Dino at the piano.
-
"PIN number" or personal information number number ;D

That's a lovely picture, Jane. :)

I purchased two $25 gift cards for See's Candy for $40.
They are for me, not for gifts.
But of course!
-
The local Costco also used to sell two $25 gift cards for the local Meconi's Italian Subs for only $40, but they stopped selling them. :P
-
Frustrating and irritating day with this here computer.
Yikes! :o
-
Nothing working well.
~~~Computer Vibes for BK!!~~~
-
And then a truly repulsive thing with my car insurance, which fortunately had a good ending.
Good news about the good ending, but too bad you had to experience the truly repulsive thing.
