Well, you're read the notes, the notes were terrifying and told a tale, and now it is time for you to post until the terrifying cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ASTUTE!
-
Glad to hear the CAT scan went so smoothly! I was surprised to hear you didn't feel warm with the dye - I sure as heck did when I had one a couple months ago. The heat only lasted a minute or so but it was pretty intense.

Good morning, all!
-
BK, I'm happy the CAT went well. I had remembered the one I had, only I had forgotten the IV and the warnng that I would feel warm after the dye was insertefd - which I indeed did! - but I could not remember - and still don't - if this happened before the 2020 surgery for the kidney tumor or the 2021 pre-radiation for the prostate cancer. Your detailed notes brought it all back exzcept for my CAT date. It's probably in one of my posts from 2020 or 2021. I'll do a search.
-
Yay! Cast, Roles, and Photos! I so wish I could be in LA in Marcxh or April. I know it's going to be a hoot. Thank you, BK!
-
And now we take you back to my boring life. The cats have stopped hanging about the CD case like starvingrs looking into a restaurant window. Maybe there was no mouser?
-
I have begun the second Cat in the Stacks mystery, featuring a completely detestable family - so detestable they're both very ugly and very funny - and I'm really enjoying it.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I am quite proud of myself for procrastinating the laundry for a complete week, but tomorrow I will definitely get take care of it. As Carmen sings in Bizet's great opera:
Peut-être jamais! peut-être demain!
Mais pas aujourd'hui . . . c'est certain.
(Might be never, might be tomorrow,
But not today, that's for sure!)
-
So interesting to read the tale of the CT scan.
-
And thanks, BK, for the "Meet the cast" poster.
-
I've discovered two more mystery series with cats, so I may try one of these when I finish my current one:
-
Too true to be funny?
-
Glad to hear BK's CAT scan went smoothly.
-
Not so great to hear about BK's Genghis Cohen dinner. Hoping it was just an off night.
-
Thanks, BK, for posting the lovely flyer for DRAT! THE CAT! in today's notes.
-
singdaw - Loved the Wading for Godot art you posted last night. :)
-
I think the Randy Vicar and the Phonograph Needle in today's notes may be my favorite Randy Vicar tale in a long time.
With the newest Vicar in the series GRANTCHESTER seeming to hop into so many beds with so many different women in such a short TV season, he's become my reference point for the "Randy Vicar" mentions.
-
Great notes! Lovely flyer.
I too felt the heat when my CAT was getting scanned.....strange.
Rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
My book hasn't arrived yet. I'm going to file a PayPal dispute.
-
The Timberwolves had three guys out last night so Luka Garza was on the floor for ELEVEN minutes.....he got 4 rebounds and scored 4 points...did some blocking....they should use him MORE.
-
Today at 2:30 ET Saint Louis Billikins are playing - I think it's on the USA network, so i shall be watching.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Glad to hear The Cat! scan went well.
-
Today I must make a run to the bank, and then spend a few hours or several hours finishing up the internal cleaning and the putting back together of a keyboard. Pray for that baby.
-
Keyboard assembly vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
-
There is an open house for the house across the street that is for sale. The OH will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
So ALL parking laws on the street will be null and void during those hours.....it's kind of like when someone has a yard sale.
-
TWO.
-
Yesterday was Nathan's birthday, and the three of us did something he'd wanted to do, that I was doing for my first time ever, which was to go down the road to Danbury's decades-old duckpin (yes, duckpin) bowling alley and try our hands at it.
I had always failed abysmally at the couple of bowling attempts I'd ever made, but duckpin is smaller and easier, and as it turned out, my beginner's luck (which I've often had at various things) won me the match. It turned out to be a fun and relaxing and totally different way to spend a couple of hours, and we'll definitely do it again.
Only drawback, in my case, is that it aggravated some sciatic disturbance that I can still feel this morning. This was surprising, since the ball weighs only three pounds or so. But the activity and movements themselves showed up in my lower back just like certain outdoor work involving a lot of bending tends to do. I shall have to watch that in the future.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It is supposedly sn*wing here. I’m afraid to look out.
-
Waiting for the temperature to hit 75 in a few days.
-
It’s a long wait.
-
Glad the CT scan went well.
-
Nothing accumulated. It just looks wet out there, which probably means icy.
-
ChasSmith, I wish you the best with your sciatica. Wish I could share with you the sciatica cream Amazon delivered yesterday. I haven’t tried it yet.
-
I have been duckpin bowling a few times....there was some kind of league among the theeders in Indy back in the 1990's....and our team the Fonsecas [named after our theeder founder and director] would play once a month or so with teams from around town.
I think we won ONCE....the league was disbanded and everyone moved to volleyball.

Glad you had a good time, though! Sending quick healing vibes for the sciatic discomfort.
-
Jrand, sending vibes that the parking on your block doesn't become unpleasant.
-
Watching Eyes Without a Face for the first time. When Alida Valli first meets the girl to be kidnapped, it’s in front of a theater showing Ionesco’s Victims of Duty, which seems to describe Valli’s character perfectly.

It's not ridiculous. It's ranunculus.

I remember the first time I saw a universal remote.
I thought, "Wow. This changes everything."

Is it OK to groan if it adds a post towards getting to page 3?

I'll assume yes.
Oy!!!

It's not saliva. It's salvia.
If it were saliva, would it qualify as saliva of the fittest?
-
Page three - and before noon Eastern time! That's not bad for a Saturday.
-
For future generations of "Guests" looking at this, the HHW clock has been off by a number of minutes. It's still before noon Eastern time.
-
Eyes Without a Face is most excellent, as BK has advised on multiple occasions. I’m sorry it took me so long to watch it.
-
From the sublime to the ridiculous, I am returning to John Huston for a change. I just got a copy of The Barbarian and the Geisha, which, I guess, is Huston’s version of Pacific Overtures with John Wayne minus any intellectual insight.
-
But first, a nap.
-
DR Laura, only two of us have had covid.
-
From DR Rodzinski:
I’m not watching anything, but my six-year-old is watching her favorite show, “Is it Cake.” She’s obsessed. Still have to see if we can go meet the Sikh baker from Surrey who won season 4.
This is cute. Is she also beginning to bake and decorate cakes?
-
Bruce, I'm glad your scan was fairly easy.
-

I'm sorry your body is feeling after effects from your fun outing.
Happy Birthday to Nathan!

Vibes it works!

I found out that Yogi is a Keeshond.
I suspected as much but without seeing the entire body it was hard to be sure.

It has been off for a long while now ;D

DR JANE it would be if I had any place I had to be.
There are EIGHT cars on both sides of the street, although one of them belongs to the realtor ... so lots of interest ... since the open house just started 10 minutess ago.
Oh....someone else just pulled up.
-
Hot time on DR Jrand74's street today.
-
They got an open bar over there? :)
-
Last night's repast was from a local barbecue jernt we love (https://hoodoobrownbbq.com) - which purports to be Texan in origin, but there's nothing tomato-based. Perhaps DR John G. can help out here. The sauce/seasonings (which are to die for, don't get me wrong) are vinegar-based, for the meat as well as a few of the sides.
When it comes to BBQ, I love it all. But as brisket is kind of the main event here (yes, they have pork, too), and there isn't any tomato-based sauce as far as I could tell, this would definitely seem to be Carolina style in my book. Or am I just showing off my ignorance?
What about dry-rub? I mainly remember that from the Memphis area. I don't really know these divisions like I should.
-
Best collard greens I've ever had. Nothing comes close. I could eat this every day. But HELL, I could eat like this in general every day.
Best slaw, too. I have nothing to even compare it with. Except for a few times when you might want the creamy style, this might as well be my go-to.
-
Be sure to show up at the open house and pretend to be a nosy neighbor, JRand. People LOVE that.

Jrand, maybe you can send over your friend who goes by "Gladys Kravitz" on FB to act like a nosy neighbor.

Reviews have been so-so for the Mary Wollstonecraft bio musical in Hull, coming to London soon. Mary and the Hyenas.

Good morning. Barely.
-
Glad the CAT scan went well.
-
I don't remember IV's being painful. Not particularly pleasant, but not painful. At my last colonoscopy, my hand was so dehydrated that they used my inner elbow -- where they take blood out for the lab and donations. I've been blessed with a really good vein there.
-
I am hosting a group at the church this afternoon, so Kerry's mixer has been whirling today.
-
I made: a lemon blueberry cake; snickerdoodles, brownies, pretzel bites, and baba ganoush.
-
We don't have any vegans in this bunch that I know of, so I made the pretzel bites with butter and an egg wash. Oh my goodness. So much better than using just olive oil.
-
Eggs are so expensive that I saved the rest of the egg to put in with my eggs tomorrow morning.
-
TOD: Genghis Cohen, interestingly. Loved the green beans especially.
-
Now I need to go and host this thing. Whatever is left over will be put out for the coffee hour in the morning.

Nice way to keep remembering Kerry, at times of happy events.

Page Four!

Most Texas barbecue, except east Texas, doesn’t have much to do with sauce. In east Texas, they pour it on everything and theirs is tomato based. Like the deep South, they also like hickory for smoking.
In the rest, they use oak or mesquite to smoke the meat. Sauce is more something saved for the bread. I do like espresso sauce with smoked beef ribs.
Brisket is Texas’s favorite meat for ‘cue.
-
Have fun DR LAURA....
DR RODZINSKI I don't think that tour is for me.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe five hours of sleep. I'm thinking the chicken last night was perhaps tainted.
-
Now there is only one person at the open house....one + the realtor.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE I have been Gladys myself looking out the window and checking out the prospective neighbors.

I refuse to let them do my hand anymore, it just hurts too much and leaves me with a bruise. Fortunately they rarely want to use my hand.

I just saw a little clip from a production of The Play that Goes Wrong here. Every single actor has one of those awful mics running down their cheek. Is this generation of actors not capable of, I don't know, PROJECTING? Now they must be coddled and babied?

Miss Yvonne from Pee-Wee’s Playhouse (Lynne Marie Stewart), has died.
Oh, no. :(

I am a bit under the weather. I was sick a week ago, after having gone to the doctor for a wellness check. The substitute nurse told me that many of the staff called in sick and I know they had lots of patients because she put me in the overflow room. I felt fine then, but was sick a few days later. Harrrummpphh! That’s what comes from going to the doctor.
-
I took my various remedies — the HHW-approved Sambucol and a few other things — and managed to keep it in the category of relatively mild. Then the other day I relapsed. Ugh! Whatever this is it is tenacious.

Glad to hear the CAT scan went so smoothly! I was surprised to hear you didn't feel warm with the dye - I sure as heck did when I had one a couple months ago. The heat only lasted a minute or so but it was pretty intense.
Wow, I'm sorry about that. I've never had a problem. If I have felt anything it has never been enough to remember it. Fortunately I have never had an allergic reaction to it.
It wasn't any problem, it was just different. They told me what to expect. I was just surprised BK didn't feel it.

Might as well have been.
-
DONE - with today's labor.
Each of the 88 keys has been cleaned and reinstalled in the keybed. (I'd removed them a few days ago.) Prior to that, I cleaned every cat hair and dust particle I could out of the "action". It's enough to make you wish you could just chuck it and buy a new keyboard. But that ain't happening for a while.
Tomorrow's task is to carefully clean the circuit board for the key contacts, and clean and inspect every one of those 88 contact points. Actually, there are only four or five bad notes that were the dealbreaker when it came to performing on this one. If I succeed in restoring those ... I win. We'll know by tomorrow evening.

Vibes that it works out so that you win!

Recovery vibes for DR JEANNE.

Restoring the 88's vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

Yes DR JANE I love to look at real estate photos of houses in my town......
-
I am watching On Patrol Live.
-
Back from a terrific rehearsal and got everything done that was scheduled - and that was a LOT.
-
Making Wacky Noodles. Need food that I TRUST.

Dolores Erickson, then and now. She was 30 in 1965 and she is 89 now.

That's terrific, BK!

I refuse to let them do my hand anymore, it just hurts too much and leaves me with a bruise. Fortunately they rarely want to use my hand.
My arm never works. I always have to use my hand.

Waiting for food from a Mexican food truck.
-
Something called canastas. It’s not a card game.
-
Do they have Phase 10 on the menu?
-
Or Pinochle?
-
How about Old Maid?
-
Canastas
-
Ocho!

It was excellent, but I couldn’t eat half. The cups are fried plantain. Each is filled all pastor or asada beef, chicken or ceviche. Then topped with a house sauce and mayo. You could also get ketchup , but why would you? Cheese on top.

Starting another Japanese horror film, The X from Outer Space. The promised chicken lizard monster hasn’t made an appearance yet. Instead, we have some groovy background music and special effects on par with The Creature Wasn’t Nice.
-
The space ship isn’t flying upwards. It flies right to left or left to right.
-
Looks/sounds great, DR John G.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
It's warming up. It's 42 outside now and not expected to drop below 40. By noon tomorrow, it's supposed to be 60.

While on my wanderings today, I found 2 identical 45 rpm records on an unfamiliar label. No artist was credited but someone had written “Bill Kenny” on one of them. Now, the only Bill Kenny I know is Bill Kenny of the Ink Spots. So I look up his name and the song titles, and sure enough, it’s a couple songs he put out on a small label while he was married and living in New Westminster, BC in the ‘70s.
What’s more I looked more closely at the name written on the label, and it’s a signature. “God Bless and Love, Bill Kenny”. So I had to buy those!

The chicken lizard is hilarious. Can't even move.

Absolutely. What a find!

The comedy was going to the checkout counter and the woman insisted they were CDs. I’m like, these are small records called 45s, which you have listed for $1.99. She wouldn’t believe me until I photographed her pricing chart on the wall and a nice old lady explained to her that 45s were indeed records.

Guilala is what they have named the monster.

Ah, youth!

Good night, all.

I just saw a little clip from a production of The Play that Goes Wrong here. Every single actor has one of those awful mics running down their cheek. Is this generation of actors not capable of, I don't know, PROJECTING? Now they must be coddled and babied?
Why you gotta steal the whole plot of Head Mics: The Musical?!

Hi, George!
Vibes to your mother. I know she was in the hospital, but that’s about all. She had surgery?
Sorry I missed you, Jeanne! Yes, she had surgery and she's doing quite well now. It was a success!
-
Tonight, I worked barback (cashier and helper for the paid bartender) for a singer named Meow Meow.
-
Her act was essentially a cabaret act with a couple of audience participation moments that were quite funny!
-
She is a really good singer and she has a lot of humor in her show.

Here's a video:

She did this kind of bit tonight, but I think she sang a different song.
-
After the show, she came out to the lobby:
-
And she signed the CD that I bought tonight:
-
If you get a chance to see her in concert, GO! Highly recommended by the likes of me! :D
-
And now for something completely different...
