Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well last night. All the cats came by to sleep with me for a bit First Stella, then Thatch, and finally Annabelle. I had two dream that I surprisingly remember. In the first, I was staying at the home of my mother's sister Jean, whom I credit for being a better mother than my mother was. In the dream, I was staying alone in the house, taking care of the mail and a large dog. A very small kitten showed up, and I was taking care of it as well.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I iz finally caught up.
-
Re-entry into the real world is complete.
-
CONGRATULATIONS to BK on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!
-
In the second dream, I was working on a production of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. We were stuck in a staging of the penultimate song "Carousel."

Thank you, DR Freddie. It was certainly very relaxing. There was a lot of eating, napping, and reading.
-
Which could just as easily been done at home, I suppose.
-
George, thanks for posting in last night's posts that extended live performance by Bobby Darin. Quite interesting and enjoyable.
Also interesting noting that the "no more water, no more aqua, ta-ta H2O" in the Jonathan Groff performance is there in the Bobby Darin live video, too.
-
Which could just as easily been done at home, I suppose.
But a Marilyn Monroe breakfast is just not the same at home.
-
On theme for the morning, as theedur fans ponder how SMASH will do at the Tony nominations.
-
DRs, a Gloucestershire family in England has lost their baby Alfie, and my Facebook and Twitter pages have been filled with pleas for his safe return. Can you please send Alfie some vibes to get safely home?

Awake, but barely.

Happy May Day. May all the protests today be successful and peaceful.

Good morning

Still sleeping quite a bit

CBS really did a shit job announcing the Tony nominees this morning. We only got Best Actor and Actress in a Play, Best Actor and Actress in a Musical, Best Play, and Best Musical.

Was DR Jrand74 egregiously overlooked - again?

I really don’t care for the Operation Mincemeat score. Surprised it picked up a nomination.

No love for Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends.

Today’s the only day air traffic controllers can stomach hearing “Mayday.”

Danny Burstein nominated, that’s cool.

I expected to see a tin of Glengarry noms, but only one for Bob Odenkirk.

I continue to aspire to be the official parodist about all the money I'm hoping you rake in from the obscene, disgraceful theedur pricing system.
(Can there be an official parodist? Is it "parody" if done with the subject's OK?)
-
Interesting questions DR FREDDIE.
-
I postponed the going and getting until tomorrow.

Good morning.

Yesterday was our musical stumble-through for Otello, our first time hearing it with the principals. This is always one of my favorite rehearsals and it was glorious.
-
Today in movie class is Three Days of the Condor as an exemplar of 1970s paranoia.
-
TOD: It's the original Star Trek series and movies II and IV for me. I've seen some Next Generation episodes and they're fine, I just have never gone through the entire series. And it's been a long time since watching any of the original Star Trek cast or movies as well.
-
DR George that was nice of Shelly to pressure wash with you when it was all for you and your family ;)
-
I'm not surprised you fell asleep early.

I’m so sorry to hear about DR Vixmom having pneumonia. That’s NO fun!

Back from banking (easy - in and out in less than five minutes at both banks).
-
Then to Gelson's.
-
From the hot bar got cheese enchiladas and some shrimp for later.
-
I barely finished on enchilada - maybe half - awful and in the trash.
-
So, I'll need something else at some point.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Visited the ABAA viral book fair - no fun at all online, very little selling, and THE hot topic books from most of these sellers? Books on immigration topics.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the IMPORTANT ENVELOPES.

Very nice today.
And I have started my home version of my Physical Therapy....it seems to be helping.

I like Star Trek: The Next Generation best.....but I haven't really seen any of the movies.

Some of the prices were beyond outrageous - one was selling an original Merrily program signed by Sondheim - 2500 bucks.

Very nice today.

Great! Vibes it continues to help you.
-
Good afternoon, all!
-
Getting up at 5:30 this morning was an adventure, and today has only two things in it, unlike tomorrow which has three. Oy! At least tomorrow I can get up an hour later.
-
TOD: I have never willingly watched anything Star Trek. And that includes when my DH dragged me to one of the movies and I slept through it.
-
Although we did some kind of Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas when my sister went with us. She's a Trekkie.
-
From the hot bar got cheese enchiladas and some shrimp for later.
Isn't there a song "If you like cheese enchiladas, and getting caught in the rain"
Or something like that.

Keith also got Wordle in three :)
-
From DR George:
now have a current and max streak of 166 days out of a total of 1017 played...with a 98% win rate. :)
Since Keith went back and played all of the ones in the arcives he has played 1,444 games. Of course the earlier ones really don't count for anything except that he enjoyed doing it.
He also has a win rate of 98%. His current streak is 608. Fingers crossed you and Keith keep going on your good streaks.

Here's the "Mack the Knife" Parody on YouTube - about Jonathan Groff as Bobby Darin in Broadway's "Just In Time"
Noting the reviews praising Jonathan Groff's performance as sensational, and the critics AND the show pointedly warning that Mr. Groff spits and perspires a lot, so be aware if you're in the front rows. (Happily, Mr. Groff clearly has a sense of humor about it.}

-
I suppose my favorite Star Wars is the original series simply because it was the original.
I also liked the following tv shows very much.
The Next Generation
Voyager
Enterprise
It took us a bit to warm up to Deep Space Nine and then we liked it.
-

I agree that would have been cool.
-
The first Star Trek movie was a bit of a disappointment, especially after the wonder Star Wars.
-
I did like the three movies that followed it. I know many think The Wrath of Khan is the best. I would have to watch it again before deciding.
-
People laugh at The Voyage Home but I liked it.
-
Jump to 2009 and the new Star Trek. I was very pleased.

I met Brent Spiner a couple of years ago, he signed a photo to me and he spent some time chatting . Some years ago firmer DR Francois sent me the cd “Old Yellow Eyes Is Back” which I stupidly failed to have with me, but I mentioned owning it and he told me the sad story of the US record company that messed him around and a French company who bootlegged the album.
-
I’m so sorry to hear about DR Vixmom having pneumonia. That’s NO fun!
Thank you, except for an annoying cough I’m feeling much better
-
Anyone have any recommendations for cough suppressant that won’t make me sleepy ir interact badly with my meds?
-
I have always liked Star Trek, back when Next Generation was on air a friend of ours worked for a company that ran various fan conventions, he got us VIP access to several of them.
Over the years we saw talks with Patrick Stewart and William Shatner ( together) , Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan, Deforest Kelley and met Michael Dorn.
-
At another convention we attended yearly at a local university we met Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Majel Barret, Marina Sirius, René
Auberjonois, and John de Lancie
-
PT vibes for Jack

Such a shame that happened to him with the record companies.

I only use half a dose of codeine cough syrup and only at bedtime. On our trip I coughed into my thick travel vest I wore almost every day.

-
A few years back we took the train to Seattle for the night to see Shatner talk. We enjoyed our little excursion and evening with him.
-
We have our framed Star Trek cards which were all signed.

I took a photo and emailed it to myself. It hasn't arrived and I must go as Keith is popping corn.

Tonight we watched The Friend (2024) with Bill Murray and Naomi Watts and enjoyed it quite a lot.

Tomorrow night after work I have to upgrade my computer to Windows 11. Pray for Rosemary's Baby.

Separated at birth, as it were!

Great photo DR VIXMOM.

I have his "Dreamland" album, with Maude Maggart.

That was from 2008.

Does it cost $$ to upgrade to Windows 11?
I can't imagine they would let you do it for free.

A couple of hockey games to watch tonight.
So far very entertaining.

CONGRATULATIONS on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament, DR Jrand74!!!
-
And since I really don't want to do the dishes, instead I sit here posting.
-
Funny how that works.
-
Funny, that.
-
I really don’t care for the Operation Mincemeat score. Surprised it picked up a nomination.
I haven't heard any of it, yet.
I loved the show
I imagine the show is quite fun, but that score ain’t a musical giant. I’d rather listen to a bootleg of the original Carrie or Hot Spot.
-
Congrats, JRand.
-
Watching The Man in the Glass Booth. It’s a filmed play that feels kinda like a filmed play, but more from the performances than anything. Maximillian Schell is excellent.

I've seen all the theatrical movies and all the broadcast TV series (the animated series, TOS, TNG, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, Enterprise), but I've never seen Picard, Lower Decks, Section 31, Strange New Words or Prodigy. I did see and enjoy the first season of Discovery, and I've purchased the entire series, but I haven't watched those, yet.
-
I also have Brent Spiner's solo CD, Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Ol-Yellow-Eyes-Is-Back-1991-Brent-Spiner/5638), originally released on BK's former label, Bay Cities! :D
-
Some of the prices were beyond outrageous - one was selling an original Merrily program signed by Sondheim - 2500 bucks.
Yikes! :o
-
I wonder if it actually sold.
-
I have the 2-CD Encores recording of Merrily We Roll Along that starred Colin Donnell as Franklin Shephard and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Charlie Kringas. I bought it from the PS Classics website autographed for only $80 new...and Sondheim and Miranda and Jonathan Tunick and a couple of other actors had signed it!
-
I also have the PS Classics recording of Passion with Judy Kuhn and (on the recording) Rebecca Luker! Melissa Errico played the role, but couldn't do the recording (I vaguely remember reading something about her being fired??) but I also was able to get that one signed!

I did like the three movies that followed it. I know many think The Wrath of Khan is the best. I would have to watch it again before deciding.
The even numbered Star Trek movies tended to be better than the odd numbered movies. I don't know why, but that seems to be the consensus.
