Well, you've read the notes, the notes hummed the theme from A Summer Place, and now it is time for you to post until the summer cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NIRVANA!

Whew! That wasn't an easy one. :-\ A lot of guesses that (fortunately) turned out to not be real words.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I initially typed Goof morning.
-
Which it may be, as well.
-
One never knows, do one?
-
Another vote for extra Directed By chapters! :)
-
~~~CONTINUED MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes o' BK!!!
-
I had no concept of what the theme from A Summer Place sounded like, but from the opening bar I knew exactly what it was.
-
Another vote for extra Directed By chapters! :)
And yet another vote!
-
More modern major miracle vibes for BK!
-
More moving vibes to singdaw and his DH!
TOD: The favorite instrumentals from movies that come to mind, besides the ones BK mentioned in the notes, are "Axel F" (from "Beverly Hills Cop") and "Chariots of Fire"
Good morning to all
-
Percy Faith won a Grammy Award for his recording of A Summer Place. It was for record of the year and the first movie theme to do so and it was one of two instrumentals as well
-
Cute SNL clip, DR Freddie.
-
Good morning, all!
Many of the Bond theme songs up to Nobody Does It Better are favorites. I also liked To Sir With Love which surprisingly was nominated for an Oscar. There are many theme songs that were Oscar nominated and I have a collection of them up to about 10 years ago. A lot of them were good and quite a few were terrible and I wonder how the hell the music branch even nominated them.
-
I forgot to set the alarm and as a consequence I slept later than expected. I kept dozing with Annabelle and Thatch, and I finally said to Thatch, it's gotta be later than 5:30. I checked the alarm: 6:47.
-
This should hopefully be a quiet day. I have no plans.
-
Good morning, all.
-
This looks like a busy one. Hope to be in Marble Falls before evening.
-
Peter Gunn is TV, but the instrumental is great, as is that cinematic Mancini masterpiece, The Pink Panther.
-
I also like Elmer Bernstein’s Magnificent Seven theme.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Busy day today, what with the vet and several errands before I can settle into doing anything at home.
-
Page Two (and before 9:30 AM Eastern time - is that a good sign?)
-
I also like Elmer Bernstein’s Magnificent Seven theme.
Et moi aussi!
To that I would add Max Steiner's "Tara's Theme" from Gone With the Wind, Jerome Moross' The Big Country theme and John Williams' original Star Wars theme.
-
Not to mention Mancini's Charade.
-
Tiomkin’s High Noon and Ennio Morricone’s Good, Bad and Ugly.
-
Birdy is at the Tweet Suites. There were many birds today, all bigger than him. He will ignore them all.
-
The person that invented the Ferris Wheel never met the person who invented the Merry-Go-Round.
-
They travelled in different circles.
:) Ooh, I really like that one!
Vibes that Birdy does well at the Tweet Suites!
TOD:
Don Costa’s Never on Sunday.
Nelson Riddle’s Theme from The Proud Ones.
-
Back from the cat place.
Now for a shower and a change of clothes, then out again to get a bunch of music from someone for the little "master class" on Saturday.
-
From DR John:
Anne Baxter’s grandfather was Frank Lloyd Wright? Why can I not wrap my head around this?
This is interesting.
-
Thanks George.
-
From DR George:
I went to Costco yesterday in preparation for today's meal (and game of Phase 10) at my mom's, and I had a gift card from my birthday. I used my Costco gift card to buy Subway gift cards!
The gift cards are for you, right? Do they save you money like the See's cards are a savings? Thanks for the reminder that I need to buy more. I don't know why I didn't do this years ago.
LOL, if I had kept reading I would have seen that you answered my questions.
I agree about the Bond theme songs. I was not surprised that To Sir With Love was nominated. We worked at the Bruin Theater when it played there and never tired of watching the movie or listening to the song.
-
Another thumbs up for the new book.
Back from the cat place.
Now for a shower and a change of clothes, then out again to get a bunch of music from someone for the little "master class" on Saturday.
I'm glad you survived the vet visit this morning.
-
Joanie Sommers' version of A Summer Place is also a favorite - it was the flip side of her 45 rpm hit Johnny Get Angry....or as she sang it: "Johnny Git Angry."
-
I really like the main title theme from "Harlow" by Neal Hefti.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKZ8v7s7gHM&list=PLSxW2fUrVaHaXEIK0DIBoQXpIgsMFvMA0&index=10
Hefty mitts for Hefti.
-
The movers come tomorrow. We have gotten a lot done. Unfortunately, our access to the new apartment is limited today, as they first were cleaning it and then plan to install a new stove, a new microwave, and a new dishwasher.
-
Our fridge is only a few years old, and we're moving that down.
-
I don't know why they would clean first and then make a mess doing all the installing.
-
But I have to let it go.
-
I'm up, I'm up - what I was kind of hoping would arrive Friday that didn't, also didn't arrive today. Not good.
-
Six hours of sleep - maybe.
-
DR singdaw that's what Elsa said.
-
Second session of auditions this evening.
-
I’m partial to the Lettermen Theme from A Summer Place, but I prefer the Faith version the best.
-
Good morning.
-
It was about 80 degrees when I got up this morning, so I guess my walks will now begin at 5 a.m.
-
I liked The Four Aces singing this theme song that also went to number one.....
Is it pretty there? The name sounds like it should be a lovely spot.
It looks good though I would have black beens instead of chicken, and extra guacamole.
-
Yes, DR Jane. The carpets, flooring, and paint have all been re-done in the past week.
-
Theoretically, our Internet cuts off here tomorrow and starts up in the new place.
-
I just got the greatest news ever. My boss texted me. Our division applied for an excemption from the new state policy, and it was approved. I will NOT have to return to the office, but can continue working remotely 100%.
That is WONDERFUL news. I was a model remote worker (if I say so myself), and I wish MY boss would make that happen again.
Oh wait.
I haven't been in that job since 2011.
-
Great news, sing!
-
The Four Aces also do a great theme for “You Can’t Run Away From It,” one that’s actually used over the opening credits.
-
Congratulations! Especially since, if I am remembering correctly, you didn't have an office to return to. Hope tomorrow's move goes well.
-
Popeye's was having a 30% off deal - so I got chicken tenders - I don't they're so good there, frankly. I like the breasts, but there's something a little rank about the tenders.
-
Unsatisfying. Unfortunately, you can't order chicken by the piece like you can if you go there.
-
I did not go there, hence the problem.
-
Up from a nap.
-
Gratuitous post 101!
-
Been a weird day mostly because I'm so irritated about the non-arrival of what should be arriving.
-
Puts me in a kind of limbo, in terms of wanting to actually be productive.
-
About the only thing I can do when in limbo is - the Limbo.
-
Peyton's mom sent me a video of Peyton and I doing my arrangement of Two Lost Souls, which Guy Haines recorded with Susan Egan. I had and have no memory of doing this with Peyton and I must say, it's pretty damn adorable. I'll post it in the notes.
-
Presuming I can post it in the notes.
-
Almost 24 hours into Combee, a history of the raid on South Carolina rice plantations during the Civil War. Harriet Tubman was involved. Hundreds were freed during the raid. It’s fascinating, if a little long. I still have 90 minutes to go.
Maybe not having an office to return to is why the boss managed to get this approved :)
That sounds like it would be a good argument!
-
I'm glad you don't have to go back to an office, Singdaw. Especially since that's why you moved to a bigger apartment.
-
Sandra is 100% remote as well. I hope she doesn't have to go back to an office, either. She doesn't drive and the bus doesn't go very close to where her old office was. Her old office is in the rich part of town; rich people don't take the bus out here.
-
DR Laura I hope so too so you won't have to drive her to work.
-
Good evening!
Wordle: 4/6
Maybe I'll try to find a movie to watch.
Has anyone seen page five?
I'm sure it's around here somewhere.
-
Oh, here's Page Five!
-
Good job DR Freddie.
-
Your chances of being killed by a cow are low, but nut zero.
Travel vibes for DR JOHN G.
-
Yes DR RODZINSKI if only the movie YOU CAN'T RUN AWAY FROM IR was as good as the song.
-
The show is cast and I am happy for the most part.
Maybe the leading man's lackadaisical low volume voice and awkward movements will be seen as character quirks by the audience.
A fox went strolling past my room earlier. This is rather fuzzy and through the glass door.
-
But he was beautiful.
-
They really are beautiful. We have them here and it's always great seeing one.
-
Good night, all.
-
Love the new office.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Why are we on page five?
-
We shouldn't be on page five.
-
It seems wrong.
-
Really wrong.
-
There's something rotten in the State of Here.
Is there gaslighting going on?
See?
PAGE SIX DANCE!! ;D
-
Tonight's ItW rehearsal went quite well.
-
We ran through a lot of the music with the music director here, and she trouble-shot and made corrections as necessary.
-
Then, with the choreographer here too, we ran the actual choreographed songs, not the songs that the director staged himself.
-
People were let go as needed as the evening went on.
-
I got there about 15 minutes late because I drove my mom to a doctor's appointment in Tacoma.
-
She's been having some eye lash issues (they kind of grow in towards her eyeball :o ) and she needs to have surgery again to fix that.
-
Actually, this time will be the other eye...I forget which had already been dealt with.
-
Today's appointment was just a consult because she'll need to be off her blood thinners before the actual surgery can happen.
-
I don't know how long that'll take.
-
But I'll find out eventually, because I'll probably drive her to the surgery appointment.
-
Now, to ketchup on today's posts.
What a coinkydink! After my mom's consult appointment, we came back to Lacey and went to the local Mayan Restaurant for an early dinner.
-
I had the two-combo taco and enchilada platter with rice and refried beans.
-
It was all very good...as usual. :)
I have made it to Marble Falls.
