Well, you've read the notes, the notes were closer than ever, and now it is time for you to post until the closer than ever cows come home.

And the word of the day is: VOLUBLE!

Notes valued. Weighted.

For Joan Collins' birthday, recalling a somewhat suggestive 2013 story about Joan Collins and what had been in Shirley Jones' memoir.

Chasing Stella around the building yesterday shot my legs to hell, so I am having a quiet day. I'll listen to more of the audiobook, since I'd like to finish it up by Sunday, and I need to put together an order of groceries for delivery.
-
Where is our DR vixmom? I think I will call her today.
-
Is anyone here in touch with Iris?
Iris, if you're reading and not posting, just let us know how you're doing.
-
Good morning, all.
-
There's room for one more, honey, in Room 22, as well.
-
Today is a blessed day off. My last concert of the season is next Thursday (with ungodly-ly early rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday). If you look under the piano from last night, you'll find the clams I left there. Oy!
-
Today, some welcome housework. Yes, you heard that right. Doing some chores around here will be a damn pleasure. And I'll look at next week's music. And I'll check out the Evita Keyboard 2 book and its MainStage patches which were sent to me yesterday. That will be kind of fun.
-
I had thought about going out for my second Shingrix shot today, but I'm too wiped out to get something that could also wipe me out, so maybe tomorrow. Yes, actually, tomorrow sounds like just the ticket. If they give shots on Saturday. I get mine at Walgreens and will check on that.

DR John G, I have this friend who wonders if you needed an intern.

A pretty good night of sleep. Thanks, DR Freddie!

Not much else to report.

A good chunk of our department is off today. Taking an extra long weekend.

Ushering for the Philharmonic tonight. They’re doing Mahler’s second symphony. Should be fun.

Only a state who elects Marjorie Taylor Greene to represnt them sould have encough stupid Republicans to get their tiny minds bent out of shape by witchcraft and demonic terrors. Or, are they really aware of the smoke, mirrors, and horrors the play reflects in the current Trump administration?
Asking for a friend.

I liked DR RODZINSKI's list of crooners last night.
-
Weather is supposed to be nice today - so far it is.
-
Ushering for the Philharmonic tonight. They’re doing Mahler’s second symphony. Should be fun.
One of my favorite chorus parts ever. The initial "Auferstehn'n" entrance gives me chills either side of the stage.
-
Last night was back to movie class after taking last week off for a concert. We saw Straight Time from 1978 starring Dustin Hoffman. The score is by David Shire though I can't recall much of it outside of the opening and closing credits.
-
Before the movie he gave us an exercise in watching the same scene in two different performances, both great, and figuring out which you preferred and why. And why couldn't be "Because the other one was no good."
-
It was "Cabaret" in the film performance by Liza Minelli and Amy Lennox performing it at the Olivier awards.
-
I was completely on Team Liza. Amy Lennox's performance is the second excerpt I've seen from the current London production (that transferred to Broadway) that tells me to stay far, far away from it. I get what they're doing and why but it's not for me.
-
And now tonight is opening night for Otello. This is such a fun chorus part to sing, and our principals are wonderful.
-
We have two child supers in the garden scene with Desdemona - both children of current or former chorus members - who are doing a great job. They're both about 7. The girl is a seasoned super, both as Trouble in Butterfly with us and with San Francisco Opera in The Handmaid's Tale. This is the boy's first time on stage and he is completely smitten with Desdemona, which works great for the scene.
-
Ooh, as a computer guy I had to catch my computer 1K milestone!

And what an opera! I hope that even the orchestra is beautiful. Here's to a wonderful evening, DR MichaelG!

Ooh, as a computer guy I had to catch my computer 1K milestone!

Ushering for the Philharmonic tonight. They’re doing Mahler’s second symphony. Should be fun.

I enjoy it. When they were still the San Antonio Symphony, I heard them play it twice. They local Meistersingers group also do well with the piece.

DR John, congrats on the good gas deal.

DR Jrand, good news regarding your rehearsal.

From DR Rodzinski:
Kids had a play date today with a brother and sister whose ages match theirs nicely.
I alsways liked when that happened.
One year for Bryan's birthday we did it at a kids gym with a tampoline. It was fun. Bryan invited twin boys and we invited the younger sister for Craig and so she wouldn't be left out of the fun.
-
Rodzinski, have any children been invited over that couldn't go because they didn't have a passport?
-
Rodzinski:
Mom crushed on him back in the day.
What your mother might not be telling you is that due to his romantic voice he was considered the best "make-out singer" ;D

I agree :)

Thank you. A nice consolation after I missed 11111.
-
Rodzinski, have any children been invited over that couldn't go because they didn't have a passport?
Yes. Or sometimes they don’t have it handy. If I bring kids over, their parents need to provide me their passports or Nexus IDs in advance.
-
Vixmom and Ron seem to be spending their free time on FB posting about the horrors that our government is creating.
But we’re open to that here!

Good morning.

One of my son’s friends lives with their backyard right on the border. We haven’t done this, but the kids could look at each other across the border but not cross over to play.

Good morning, Laura.

I took an easy walk this morning with my binoculars. So I'd go slow.

Oh she’s quite clear on that. And I have her old LPs where her nurses training buddies have scrawled innuendo in pen on Johnny’s photos.

I enjoy it. When they were still the San Antonio Symphony, I heard them play it twice. They local Meistersingers group also do well with the piece.
I was to play the organ in that once, but the huge rented Allen (very pipe organ-like) refused to power up at the time of the performance. Some kind of total power supply failure in the instrument itself. But playing it was a magnificent feeling - and sound! - at the previous day's rehearsal.

That's too bad that you didn't get to play the performance, ChasSmith.
-
A week from tonight I'll be seeing another Diana Canova-directed production of Moon Over Buffalo. She did that a year or so ago at a very very tiny theeder. This one has cabaret seating, which usually guarantees a happy audience. I've done a couple of things there. Her leading lady (do people still say leading lady?) is the same one as before, and that's a very good thing, and the rest of this cast looks to be most excellent.

I would have missed the video if you hadn't mentioned it. If the play on its own did not make a strong statement, cancelling the performance should do it. I hope so.

We returned home from the gym today and our place smelled like a chemical was used. The contractor kindly used the product while we were out.
-
While he was working he kept the door open with the screen shut. Since he used it in the hall, outside my office, he had to close and lock the door once he went back to our bedroom/bathroom to continuing working on the bathroom.
-
Now the windows in my office are open as is the back door with the screen shut. We have a great cross vent going on the windy day.

Heard from my PCP's team - they recommend setting up some video appointment on the CS link app. So, in other words, deflecting to others what I feel they should be doing - filling a prescription and doing a referral and answering my questions. Weird. Appointment will have to wait until Tuesday and last time I did it it took an hour of waiting beyond the scheduled time.
-
I hope it works out to your satisfaction.
-
Bruce, your doctor might want to run some test to determine there isn't a medical reason that you aren't losing weight.

I'm going to clarify what it is that my doctor actually does because I don't understand doing this video consultation with some other doctor.

The concert was amazing. I saw the symphony perform Mahler's 2nd twice at the Tobin, the place I usually usher at.
-
Tonight was in the Philharmonic's new space. Before the concert, the conductor said you'd be able to feel the building react to the music. He was right. I sat near the percussion section and when they started to build in intensity, I could feel this vibe that made me tear up.
-
The soprano's solo made me tear up a second time, and the finale really got to me. It was intense. The acoustics were so good that it felt like I was sitting in the middle of the musicians.
-
Good night, all.

That's really cool!
