Well, you've read the notes, the notes were laggy, logy, and leggy, and now it is time for you to post until the laggy, logy, and leggy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RAINBOW!
-
Welcome, 33,744
GUESTS BOTS.

That's a whole mess of bots.

Bots for days.

Wordle 1,448 3/6
⬜🟩🟩🟨⬜

;D
-
I think the only reason that I got it in three was because so many of the "words" that I tried turned out to not be real words, so they didn't use up my chances. That's happened a few times.
-
Thanks, Kevin (about my Wordle yesterday), and congrats to you on your 3-fer Wordle!
-
Seems to be working fine now.
-
Friday.
This is the getting day this week so in an hour or so I shall go to a couple of getting places and things will be gotten.
-
Writing, DR John G.? I thought you were supposed to be on vacation.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
I was astonished by BK's admission last night to two big movies that he has never seen.
-
Astonished only because I, who haven't seen much, have seen those two.
-
But perhaps they were from the time period where he was recording a gazillion albums a year.
-
Thanks for sharing pictures with us, DR John G.

~~~GETTING VIBES~~~ for DR Jrand74!
Good morning, all!
-
I tried sleeping on my back last night, and it worked pretty well. The hand went to sleep several times but so so ntense or painful as it has been. Thatch and Annabelle took care of me. Even Stella stopped by for a long stretch.
-
:)
-
Then, I got up to find one of the cats had vomited in the water bowl, and that was a gross unpleasant situation. It clearly happened not long after I put out fresh water yesterday afternoon since I recognized the chunks floating in it, and that means the cats had no access to water all night. I feel bad about that.
-
It's already hot and humid: time to turn on the AC.
-
DR Laura, so why didn't you bring home the white cat?
-
Good morning, all.
DR ChasSmith, around 1945 Noel Coward wrote a London revue Sigh No More, in which Joyce Grenfell had a number, "That is the End of the News," in which she sang:
Heigh-ho hey diddle diddle
Aunt Isobel's shingles have met in the middle.
Yesterday was my very own first day to turn on the AC.
Thankfully, I just have the same slight achey feeling the day after, similar to the covid shots. This is not a complaint, and I deliberately scheduled it so I’d have nothing to do today.
Nice photo!
Having now enjoyed BK’s Drat!, I’m amazed to be reminded that the original ran an hour longer. My first guess is the difference in the two “ballets”, but that don’t account for an hour!
Definitely laggy, by the way.
;D
Wow, that's great, DR George! I didn't think I would get it today.
-
Wordle: 6/6
-
Thanks, DRs Jane and George for the previous Wordle congrats!
-
I'm pretty sure both ballets ran ten minutes each - I wasn't having that. Our Keystone Kop ballet replaced a Kabuki ballet - I didn't understand a Kabuki ballet and I certainly wasn't going to do one in today's world and with an entire set of new costumers. I gather Joe Layton's production had a LOT of staging comedy with an intricate set. We didn't. And pace is everything. Theirs was probably two-twenty-five with a fifteen-minute intermission. That's what most B'way musicals ran.
-
Nice pictures DR JOHN G - especially if I look out my window.
-
Glad to hear you are not having an EXTREME reaction DR CHAS SMITH.
-
No different than what I did with Li'l Abner - I'm not Michael Kidd so we cut down the act one ballet as much as we could, but with Abner I did cut Oh Happy Day because not only do I not like the song, it gave away the muscle man version of the Dogpatch husbands and it just robs the moment when the wives finally see them. And I thought the perfect act two start was I'm Past My Prime - gets us right back into the PLOT and the characters we actually care about. But I paced that show like a speeding train and that also rant two-forty on B'way - we ran about 1:55 plus the intermission.
-
Dial 'M' for Murder - a three-act play, two ten-minute intermissions and usually runs two-thirty. Well, the movie doesn't run two-thirty and neither did we. So, most productions run two-ten PLUS the two intermissions. We ran exactly two hours WITH the two intermissions. All pacing.
-
The ONLY show I've ever directed that ran longer than I'd have liked was The Man Who Came to Dinner - it's just a long play and then if you have me and Barry Pearl creating a Banjo like none before, well, laughs like that add more time. But I tried.
-
I've only slept three hours so far.
-
I suppose I'll try for another two in a little while.
-
And it's worth every second that it takes. I wish someone around here would do it again. We had a brilliant production fifteen years ago, maybe even longer ago than that, and nothing since.
-
I've set the DVR to record the CNN live presentation of Good Night and Good Luck tomorrow night. I didn't even know it was going to be on the TV channel, I thought it was only "streaming" which, to me, means online, not TV. Happy to see that it's both.
-
Well, maybe I'm still confused. CNN's website says "streaming live on MAX". So maybe it's only on TV and not online? Definitely confused.
-
I’ll bet the swift little blackouts of the thefts were more drawn-out affairs in the original Drat!
-
DR Laura, so why didn't you bring home the white cat?
Because I promised my husband we'd have only one cat once we got down to one cat.
-
He asked me what will happen when another tame kitten shows up in the yard.
-
I said we'd bring it inside.
-
He knows.
-
The white and tabby is in a good place. No cages, lots of people to socialize with. He'll get adopted.
-
DR Singdaw, congrats on getting the days around Christmas off from work.
DR Rodzinski, four sisters and no brothers?
My father had four older sisters. While he was sad his oldest sister died, he was thrilled that his parents adopted her son and he then had a younger brother. My dad and uncle were always very close.
I am the fifth of six. The eldest was my brother Bob who died at 13 of a brain aneurysm. Great kid who made the most of his short time on earth.
That’s great that your parents adopted their grandchild. And you got both an uncle and a cousin.
Oh, no! Hope all the cats are okay!
I'm up, I'm up - got another three hours of sleep.
-
Rodzinski - they cut Oh Happy Day from the movie - structurally that's what I followed - they got rid of all the topical name references from the play - no one knows those anymore, so I just used the movie script for those cuts.
Tonight we're heading up to San Francisco to see Harvey Milk Reimagined at Opera Parallčle with friends. It's a shortened, reduced orchestra version of Stewart Wallace and Michael Korie's Harvey Milk opera from 1995. So I've been calling it "Condensed Milk." Our local retired classical music critic stole that line from out of my brain for his blog a few days ago.
-
DR MICHAEL G don't you hate it when that happens?
I've had many things stolen out of my brain.
I think.
That, or I carelessly tossed them aside.
This was for a long aborning recording project - we've set October as a tentative time to do it, as I get busy after that.
-
That’s great that your parents adopted their grandchild. And you got both an uncle and a cousin.
I was much older before I was told the full story. I never really thought of him as a cousin. While he was seven years younger than my father he was 25 years older than me. That's a lot of years when you are young. I never realized my uncle was that much younger than my father.
-
It IS Friday, however, and I have not taken complete leave of my senses.
Denny (my grass mower) cut my lawn this morning. It truly looks spiffy.
I socialized at the post office and then socialized at the restaurant where I picked up my lunch.
Otherwise, I cannot account for myself with any degree of pride or accomplishment, even in the area of cleaning or doing laundry. I did manage a 15-minute nap that might have gone longer had FedEx not delivered a package.
It is truly a beauteous day in the CSRA. We are expecting weekend storms, however.
Today is "Day One" of a three-day, 27-mile yard sale on highway 23 between Edgefield SC and Batesburg/Leesville SC.
This is an event that keeps me off that particular highway the entire weekend because people don't usually just pull of the road to see what is what but stop in the middle of the road and rubberneck to see what is in each yard. It's maddening and infuriating, so I declare all areas involved "off limits' to me. People on either side of that highway, both in homes, and also in parking lots of businesses or empty fields, set up tents and tables loaded with stuff they want to get rid of. Y'all are welcome to visit for this event, but don't ask me to meet you anywhere.
-
My dad was one of 12 and his youngest brother was younger than some of his nephews.
It is interesting how that happens sometimes.
People sometimes refer to someone as the brother they never had.
I'd imagine that any "brother I never had" would be better, or at least far less greedy and destructive, than the brother I do have!
It's our fault - we probably should have known what to expect when he brought home a girlfriend named "Lady Macbeth." That should've been a clue. :)
Time to write.
-
Then I'll watch something.
-
Then I'll write some more.
-
But before I write some more I have to write now.
-
Right now.
-
But first, I may as well hit this lovely new plateau - so hopefully someone will capture it like the wild beast it is.
-
Coming soon to a theater or drive-in near you.
-
Turns out that the back house chap was having his car detailed when I got home.
-
Turns out the detailer lives next door.
-
Turns out he's reasonable.
-
Turns out in a week or so I'll have him do the motor car - which needs a newly beautified appearance, since it hasn't had a wash since I bought it.
-
Then it needs a servicing.
That's not cheap but it must be done.
I thought I knew how to do that.....but I guess I don't.
I watched IMPLOSION - on MAX. A doc about the Titan submersible that failed last year.
Guess no one's here who can capture it so we'll just have to remember it.
Written eight pages so far and am taking a little break.
Ooo...sounds exciting!
Finally had the time to watch Drat! from start to finish.
-
Loved it. The show, and the staging.
Sydmey, was, as everyone has said, quite wonderful.
But everyone had their chance to shine, which was really fun.
BK really kept it moving.
Thanks for allowing us to experience it, BK.
TOD:
We have been watching the The Pitt, the ER tv show that began in January. The season covers one day, hour by hour per episode. The first episode began at 7:00am and tonight we will watch the episode that begins at 1:00pm.
-
I am really tired.
-
Sorry to poop out.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Oh, what the heck.
-
Only a few more.
-
One more.
-
HELLO RUPERT!
-
And good night.
Again.
I thought that one of Larry Moore's brothers was married to Lady Macbeth!
-
I watched the MGM version of "The Secret Garden", (1949), this evening. It stars Margaret O'Brien, Herbert Marshall and Dean Stockwell, with Brian Roper as Dickon. It has an enviable supporting cast including Elsa Lanchester, Norma Varden, Reginald Owen and the estimable Gladys Cooper,
It's a very well-made film and the young actors are quite good. Bronislau Kaper developed a beautiful theme that doesn't get much play throughout the film but is at its loveliest at the end. Andre Previn conducted.
-
Didn't really find anything I felt like watching.
-
Plus I dozed off for an hour.
-
Then I just watched a few Letterman stupid pet tricks, which I have to say are VERY funny.
-
I HAD to say it.
-
And I did.
-
I think that leaves MichaelG to view Drat - although I'm not sure elmore has either - I would recommend not putting it off much longer because it will be going away.
-
I may try to write another couple of pages.
-
I think I'm onto a new chapter, but I know I have to go back and futz and finesse and add a few things.
-
Well, today was the day when I finally wrote more than three or four pages - I managed eleven today, and that's what I want to do from now on - it'll be a bit slow going as I have to stop often to research something but ten to twelve pages will be my goal.
-
Now, where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
Vixmom has not been here in quite a few days.
-
And I do hope dear reader Iris is okay. Would love to hear from her. Maybe I'll e-mail her the link to Drat! The Cat!
-
I hope it stays up through Sunday, that's the first time I'll have a chance to watch it.
-
I think that leaves MichaelG to view Drat - although I'm not sure elmore has either - I would recommend not putting it off much longer because it will be going away.
I haven't seen it either. I will try to watch it tomorrow.
-
Condensed Milk (aka Harvey Milk Reimagined) was excellent and a very stirring performance. We knew several people in the chorus and then saw other opera friends in the audience afterwards.
-
Tomorrow we have a bat mitzvah followed by Esa-Pekka Salonen's second-to-last concert as music director of the San Francisco Symphony.
-
Delicious Karen Morrow
-
Still on this damn page?
-
We need to see another page.
-
That would be a welcome sight.
-
I did drop Iris a line.
-
Sent her the link, too.
-
I wonder if Vixmom will show up in time to see it?
-
Will no one rid me of this page?
-
See?
-
I guess someone did - ME.
-
Well, here it is - drum roll - 155,000 posts.
Congrats, BK! Sorry I missed the actual moment...but I was busy. ;)
-
So, tonight we had a really good show. :)
-
My sister, her friends since college, and my friend Shelly, all came to see the show!
-
I decided (for the first time...I don't know why I didn't sooner) to come out after the show like all the other actors in costume and greet the adoring fans.
-
And, I was able to get a picture with "my" prince! ;D
-
And his first princess, Rapunzel, is actually right behind him.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
