Well, you've read the notes, the notes took it on the chinny chin chin, and now it is time for you to post until the hairy cows come home.

And the word of the day is: WUNDERKIND!

I was going to ask BK which of the Fool Us hosts you liked best. The 2nd girl isn’t bad, but Alison had a nice awkward reality to her hosting. There’s also a British guy on clips from the first season.
-
Thanks George. I just bought brown, cage-free eggs. Might not be the same serial number, but probably gonna toss em to be safe. My son and I had some yesterday.

Good morning, all!

Good morning, friends.

Thanks so much for posting that, singdaw!

I don't know if I will watch the Tonys tonight or not. I'm hoping Danny wins.

Good morning.

Re eggs: You'll be ok if you cook the eggs all the way. Make sure the yolks are hard.
-
The sell-by dates go back to March. Up to June 19. Most of the affected eggs have been used already.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My eggs were one of the affected brands and expired June 19. Tossed them. Thanks to George for the heads up. Had four scrambled yesterday. You can cook the eggs well but still have issues if hands and surfaces weren’t properly cleaned.

Is the deluge really over? For a while?
I believe that if we could ship just half of our rain to DR Laura, we would achieve some sort of balance.
-

I would have done the same. I just didn't want everyone to throw out all their eggs if they weren't affected.
I always overcook eggs. I hate bleeding eggs.
-
Enjoy your sunny day, Chas.
-
I enjoyed the CNN "Live" broadcast, and I did indeed wonder about the lighting and how much they augmented it. I could see everything fine, I mainly noticed that in the broader views of the stage, the unlit sections were quite dark. But if they were indeed supposed to be muted, then we didn't miss much.
I'm just glad they did this at all, and of course it will get more people talking about, you know, "issues". (Hah! Well, maybe.) Has it come under attack yet from you-know-who?
-
I doubt he'd get it.
-
I was surprised that it was one act, although I hadn't even thought about that prior to seeing it. It's amazing, too, that it was shown without a single interruption. I kind of expected a "long" intermission with commercials, but, wow, the whole thing, and they went right into the after-show without much interruption, too, or nothing beyond the ordinary.
-
But the movie was an hour and a half, as well, and - to the best of my memory of that - this was a faithful adaptation from that. Hence, a one-act. I don't remember if the musical component was in the film. I have it here, so I should check it out again.
And that brings us to my one criticism of the movie (and now the play) itself. It's a superb subject and I love how everything is portrayed, but there's something lacking in the script or in character development. It just kind of starts at one point and ends at another, whereas a fleshed out two-act play, or a more fleshed-out film, would surely involve some more detail or ... juice. I don't know how to get to what I'm after here, but maybe that makes a little bit of sense.
-
And finally, here we are, at the Tony awards.
DR Jrand74 has stated that he won't be driving at night, but I trust he'll be dressed and have a car waiting in case of any last minute surprises or upsets.
-

Vibes all will be OK!

I will PROBABLY be watching it live, though I'm going to DVR it just in case. And I will PROBABLY be here some of the time, but no promises for how long.
I'm still catching up on my beauty sleep following the vaccination on Thursday. No bad reactions, thank the universe, but my own reaction to these things is at least one full day of feeling "fatigued" (for lack of a better word). So that wiped out Friday from any chance of being productive at all, and I could still feel it somewhat yesterday.
-
Today, I will be working on Evita at the keyboard -- at least as far as marking up my book with all the patch changes and working those out in the software and in the playing of it.
-
And that's about enough out of me! I relinquish the floor.

Happy Sunday! On the new episode of the Broadway Radio Show, D.C. Anderson chats about his love of acting, singing, songwriting, as well as his new album Songs Stay Sung! And make sure to check out last week's show as I chat with Tony Award nominees David Yazbek & Erik Della Penna about their score for Dead Outlaw, the quirky, wild musical nominated for 7 Tony Awards tonight!

A gracious good Sunday morning, all.
It has not escaped my attention that I was entirely remiss -- Oh! Yes! I was "remiss" -- about posting yesterday.
I blame the fact that I arose much earlier than usual so that I could drive to Cook's Roadside Produce Stand and grab a few items I have been longing for all week. One, a strawberry cake baked by Phil Trotter, The Cake Man hereabouts. I have previously enjoyed his sour cream pound cakes. He brings many cakes with him to Cook's on Saturday mornings and is usually sold out by the time I have previously made it there. I arrived at 8 a.m. and he had about a dozen cakes stacked on his table!!
In addition, a local sourdough baker had set up a table with various loaves and rolls. I bought a loaf of sourdough. I look forward to trying it.
Add to all that cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and red and yellow peppers.
I was home by 9:30 a.m., and I settled in for the rest of the day. I made a wonderful salad for my lunch, and I managed to delay eating a piece of strawberry cake until last night around 8 p.m. It was a struggle but it was worth it!
That was my day. I didn't even go to the post office.
-
In ninety minutes, or so, I will be having my weekly Zoom chat with various folks who have been chatting each Sunday since March 2021.
We are a motley crew, but we enjoy it!

I’m with you. I’m told I am not allergic to eggs, but undercooked eggs can cause my throat to close up. I try to force down water, which causes it to abate, but I don’t like the feeling.

Our reservation for Mama’s Fish House is today at 2:30, which is when the Tonys will be on. Look forward to your comments. I really want Jasmine Amy Rogers to win. And I want to see the number from Buena Vista Social Club.

This looks like the actual brand new TV commercial for the new Stephen Schwartz musical THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES, directed by Michael Arden

- though I wonder if the close-up shot of Kristin Chenoweth's cleavage would be considered by everyone to be "suitable for work."

I am uninterested in ANYTHING involving Chenowith thank you very much.

I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
-
What time are the Tonys on in LA?
-
Guess I can't do free trial on Paramount - so won't be watching so let's have reports.
-
I see them starting at 8:00 eastern on CBS. Don't know if there's any sort of pre-show.
I've set the DVR and will try to watch, but we'll see how it goes.
-
I'm well into Act 2 in testing sounds, marking up the book, and fixing a few things in the Evita programming.
There are always a few things to fix that the folks creating and renting these programs don't catch. Always. And there's nothing like having that done in advance and knowing it's truly ready to play when the time comes.
-

I've set the DVR and will try to watch, but we'll see how it goes.
About the pre-show, singdaw had posted this earlier, from the New York Times:
"Is there a non-broadcast portion of the ceremony?
Yes. There is a preshow ceremony, starting at 6:40 p.m. Eastern, at which many of the awards for creative teams will be handed out. That event will be hosted by Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry, and can be streamed free on Pluto TV (click on the “Live Music” channel in the “Entertainment” category)."
-
Our TV is stashed away in the garage due to our remodeling project, which includes replacing all the carpet and wood floors. The music / entertainment room is being changed from carpet to wood floors. So no Tony watching for me tonight.
-
But I'm about to start watching Drat - the computer screen is reasonably big and I've got good headphones.
-
Went swimming in the pool this morning. Quite relaxing.
-
Taking a day off from the book.
-
Off to Mama’s Fish House in a few.

Also want to finish up my books, The Time of Secrets, by Marcel Pagnol, today.

-
Thank you DR George.
-
From DR Singdaw:
I am so happy you will have some great family time, DR Jane!
Thank you. I has been very special.
-
From Bruce:
Watched more Fool Us - some of those tricks are beyond amazing, especially the ones that fool them. I love when the teen magicians fool them. I think it's still on the air? I don't like the second gal host nearly as much as the redhead of the earlier seasons.
We also liked Alyson Hannigan but we also liked Jonathan Ross who left the series after 22 episodes. I don't know why Hannigan left.

Just got back from our local production of Into the Woods. They did a great job.

DR George, thank you for the important warning on the egg recall. We are good as this is what we currently have in our refrigerator.

Excellent point.

No pancakes.

No hard-boiled eggs.

No soft-boiled eggs.

Interesting awards to give out before the main broadcast - like almost everything.

I like my scrambled eggs lightly cooked and I enjoy soft boiled eggs. I take my chances. At least boiling should help. At home I always wash my hands immediately after cracking eggs.
-
This is a bash?
-
No egg drop soup.

Where in tarnation IS everyone?

I wasnt able to return last night to mention I had a big salad for dinner. We went to McMenamins on the Columbia (as in the river) and sat outside. Keith and I both got their Aztec salad, minus the jalapeno.
romaine, corn & black bean salsa,
avocado, tortilla strips, cheddar
cheese, tomato, jalapeño, cilantro,
onion, chipotle dressing
-
Though it isn't shown on the menu we know that they can add tofu to the salad. Even though the dressing is a bit spicy for us we still get it.
-
I brought home about half of the salad and ate it tonight with additonal black beans, tofu, and veggies.

From experience, I can tell you that if your throat closes up enough then you can't breathe. Can you eat cookie dough?

I'll probably watch Youtube clips of the shows this next week.

Just got back from our local production of Into the Woods. They did a great job.
Great :)
-
Enchanted Forest was great fun today.
-
We rode the carousel twice.
-
I should have gone on the log ride even if I got wet and skipped the fun roller coaster as it was rather bumpy and now I hurt.
-
The place is very charming and wooded it so it wasn't too hot most of the time.
-
Am I the only one watching the Tony awards?
-
Wordle: 2/6. The right opening word helps a lot!
Keith just told me he also got it in two :)
-
I just figured out to stream it on my computer. I can't watch much of it but I lucked into see a Hamilton medley from the original cast.
-
I watched most of the pre-show and it was pretty dry. I did not think the hosts were very natural.
-
Cynthia Erivo's opening outfit seemed like a throwback to Orphan Annie's in the final scene of Annie. But with more rhinestones.
-
It was clever in incorporating many of the nominees and shows, but the Gospel-style (and backup choir) wasn't really in the Broadway tradition.
-
Then I kind of stopped watching. I'll see the rest later, since I taped it.
-
:)
-
:)
-
Past my bedtime.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Wordle: 2/6. The right opening word helps a lot!
Congratulations!
Thanks, DR Jane. Congrats to Keith too!
-
I got back from Mama’s in time to see Nicole Scherzinger win and then best musical for Maybe Happy Ending, which Cynthia Erivo called Maybe Happy Endings.
-
FIVE!

So gorgeous and colorful!
-
This is not a bash, this is a crash.
-
I'm a culprit, certainly. I wasn't watching so I was writing and I did nine pages so far and will do at least two or three more. I have no idea who won what. I did have an amusing telephonic call from Crista Moore who, you might remember, was in Gypsy with Tyne Daly.
-
Page five is ridic.
-
Where the HELL is George.
-
Not very sporting.
-
For food earlier, I had Stanley's - garlic chicken pasta with broccoli, red onions, cashews - excellent.
-
The never-ending page.

See?

Here are the Tony performances, most of them complete.

-
I think I liked Pirates the least.
-
I loved the mambo choreography during Candela from Buena Vista.
-
I hated the camera work.
-
It's astonishing to me that they keep getting Tony directors who cannot figure out how easy it is to shoot numbers. And yet - and then they give them Emmy awards.
-
Time to write some damn notes.

Not sure what to think. She acts up a storm. But the music is rephrased. Would anyone change Lucia di L’s mad scene aria? Sure, even Shakespeare is open to reinterpretation. Still, … Consider me torn.
-
If you've read Directed by, that performance is a very clear example of what I mean by too much sauce. ACTING, in all caps. First of all, the number itself does a lot of the heavy lifting. But I suspect this production doesn't have a lot of the comedy that most have, but that's the genius of Arthur Laurents' book.
-
Consider me untorn.
-
Or Rip Torn.
-
Back to the notes.
-
One of the books I am reading is the original mystery To Catch a Thief, which is different from the Hitchcock movie. Still, the thief is the Cat, just like the musical I am starting to watch.
-
I'm tellin' ya, George has got some 'splainin' to do.
-
Not showing up at ALL for a Tony Awards Bash?
-
Why I oughta...
-
Six pages is anemic.
-
It is weak.
-
When it's weak, I must speak.
-
To be weak is to reek.
-
Up the creek.
-
Cheek to cheek.
-
Weak is a freak.
-
Weak is a geek.
-
Weak is meek.
-
And hardly unique.
-
Take a peak at weak.
-
It's nothing that we seek.
-
Weak is an antique.
-
Like Zorba the Greek.
-
And all I can say is, "Eek."
-
Tim Matheson was a delight in the ‘80s film, “Up the Creek.”
-
Now, get me off this damn page.
-
Sorry i contributed little to the bash.
-
George is in for a big spanking.
-
And no pudding.
-
You are off that damn page and on this one.
-
At least two of us are here.
-
I want off THIS page.
-
Doubtful that will happen with George having gone the way of all flesh.
-
How can he have any pudding if he don’t eat his meat? To paraphrase the Pink Floyd Billboard #1, Another Brick in the Wall pt. 1.
-
We can do it!
-
Don’t eschew it!
-
Or say, “you blew it!”
-
Or misconstrue it.
-
Or Dave Carradine Kung Fu it.
-
Flesh.
-
Who invented THAT word?
-
Or Turk 182 it.
-
Ah, invented by one Henry V. Flesh of Omaha, Nebraska.
-
Flesh, yeah. Don’t like it.
-
Flash ain’t bad though. Totally different vibe.
-
“Nourish” is one I never could stand.
-
He was speaking one day and meant to say, "My face is fresh, this morning," but accidentally said, "My face is flesh this morning," and the rest is history.
-
Did Pirates win any awards?
-
George is apparently here, but too fleshy to post.
-
I won no Tony Award.
-
It's high time I win a damn award.
-
He was speaking one day and meant to say, "My face is fresh, this morning," but accidentally said, "My face is flesh this morning," and the rest is history.
Since Flesh was his name, he was technically correct.
-

I would have given Hank Mancini an Oscar.
-
The prodigal George arrives.
-
Today was the final performance of the second weekend (of three) of the Evergreen Playhouse's production of Into the Woods.
-
High Time DID win an Oscar for Best Song - The Second Time Around p not by Mancini.
-
It ran a little longer than previous performances, but everything went well.
-
Final performance? Then maybe you can find ten minutes and write a review?

High Time DID win an Oscar for Best Song - The Second Time Around p not by Mancini.
This is nice to hear.

Enter page eight.
-
I love the Mancini score. The second one I bought, the first being Mr. Lucky.
-
I was able to leave the tech deck early for my cameo entrance early by having the light board operator set off the final music track before my entrance, and it went off without a hitch.
-
I don't know why I didn't think of that before...those few extra seconds make all the difference. :)
-
Speaking of Elliot Gould and High Time, there is a young bit player in High Time who is not Gould but looks and sounds a lot like him. Yet I’ve never been able to determine who he is.
-
Final performance? Then maybe you can find ten minutes and write a review?
I found my Kindle...that'll help. ;D
-
I have my nice, vinyl copy of the High Time soundtrack.
-
But I wanna ketchup on today's posts.
-
High Time should have won a special Oscar for scene transitions. Just my opinion.
-
In ninety minutes, or so, I will be having my weekly Zoom chat with various folks who have been chatting each Sunday since March 2021.
We are a motley crew, but we enjoy it!
Hope you had a great time, Ron!

The real bash began late!

I have my parents’ Peter Gunn LPs.

I've seen them.

I've read them.

I wrote them.
