Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no answers to the orange chicken dilemma, and now it is time for you to post until the orang cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUBSTANTIVE!
-
Found an hour-long documentary about The Fantasticks from when it closed in 2002 or 2003.
-
Great interviews with Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, Rita Gardner, Jerry Orbach.
-
To me, it was special seeing George Lee Andrews, who was the first El Gallo I ever saw.

Congratulations, John G, on sending the manuscript in!
-
Good morning, all!

I could not get to sleep last night. Instead of lying there in frustration, I read until my eyes ciykd no longer focus. I then spent the night, dozing and sleeping poorly next to Thatch who tolerated my restlessness with more grace than I would exhibit. By the time Annabelle joined us around 4:00, my legs were aching and I could not get comfortable. After kitty cleanup, I have a long nap.
-
I plan on an easy day. My only major errand is to scrounge around the closet in search of a carton of miscellaneous large envelopes where I hope to find one large enough to send one of the A&T galleys to Modern Cat magazine in Vancouver.
-
It's time to give my wrist a rest. Nice haircut, DR George!

Congrats to MR BK on all the writing - and finding the MW book! I hope some DR can buy it!
-
Pizza was good last night....company was good.....and then The Pacers lost the basketball game....they missed at least four three throws in the final minute or so....that would have won them the game.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Congratulations on submitting your manuscript, DR John G.
-
I don't know about these things, but it seems like the whole process was really quick.
-
From inception to submission.
-
Good morning, all.

Got to sleep in a little later than usual on this gray and sorta-rainy Saturday morning. Even the cat slept in, and didn't arise until he sensed that I had arisen. He is now fed, and I've had one slice of toast and one cup of coffee. I shall need much more, though. I think it's a morning for some damned eggs. Some damned Trader Joe's $1.99 per dozen eggs, to be specific.
-
And yet another gray day here. It was raining earlier.

We are going to be changing our call center software in the coming months to Amazon Connect. Should be interesting.
-
It will involve moving away from physical phone consoles to soft phones and soft tokens, whatever that may man.
-

Is Amazon not out of favor any more? (due to politics, that is)
I had great experiences with Amazon for the books I self-published throughout the 2010s, but I've felt unsure about whether it's "OK" to use Amazon for my new book.
-
My extra sleep was not restful, unfortunately, being rife with stupid irritating dreams.
The big one concerned music and was clearly based on the Evita programming tweaking and altering I was doing yesterday. It took completely different forms in the dream, of course, I guess you could say surreal ones, and was repetitious and profoundly annoying. I can sort of remember it but I shan't attempt to put it into words.
I'll finish that work today, and will be supremely glad that this step in the preparation is over. It's just the finessing - one might even say futzing - of little things I'd never annoy the programmers with, but which I nevertheless can't leave the way they are. When done, I'll play the show with much greater ease and enjoyment, and it'll be better for it.
-
TOD
Three, because I'm picky:
+1.25 for playing music and being able to read every detail sharply, while not being strong enough to throw distant stuff out of whack, such as watching a conductor or soloist who needn't be in sharp focus.
+2.00 for desktop computer distance and anything else on my desk that needs to be read.
+2.50 for sitting in a chair and reading a book or the iPad or even small print on the phone.
It's definitely annoying to keep track of three, but in a pinch, any of them can be grabbed and used for whatever the momentary need is.

I had a long dream about working at The Drama Book Shop. I remember few details now . . . something about trying to close and late arriving customers wanting to purchase something. I said they could only do that if they had the exact change since the registers were already cleaned out.

Jrand, are there any activities at the theedur which would not require you to drive at night (assuming that was the main logistical problem)?

From DR Singdaw:
We also had an electrician here yesterday to take care of a few things. Boy, was that expensive! I had no idea.
Very, same goes for plumbers and then you just hope they are good and you don't need someone to return to fix or improve the original work.
-
While we had our great contractor and crew we got a good many things fixed that needing doing.
-
Our closet doors now stay where we put them instead of hitting my back while I am in the closet.

From DR John:
I sent the manuscript to the editor.
Congratulations!

From John:
I finished Emily Henry's latest today. She must have a VitaMix. A regular blender would be worn out with all she throws into her plot. Citizen Kane, Elvis, so much of little interest.

DR Freddie if you self publish with Amazon do they then advertise your books?
Amazon's self-publishing arm (at least back in the 2010s) was called Createspace. If you paid for extras, you could get extras. :)

But I guess that's the case with any company that's a for-profit business.

After the reports this morning of the assassination, and with the suspect still not apprehended, the organizers of the Twin Cities "No Kings" rally said it was called off. Police and State said, "Do not attend."
Instead, 80,000 people showed up at the State Capitol to protest this regime.

Tonight we went to Esa-Pekka Salonen's final concert as music directory of the San Francisco Symphony - a fabulous performance of Mahler 2 with Sasha Cook and Heidi Stober as soloists.
-
The first time I heard the San Francisco Symphony perform this with MTT, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson was the soloist. So I've been to mezzo heaven twice now with the piece.
-
The SFS cellos are so much better now than they were then - the principal is in his 2nd year and the assistant principal in her 1st year, and both are great improvements over who they replaced (especially the principal). Which matters a lot in this symphony.
-
Great fun to hear the differences between EPS's and MTT's interpretations. EPS is more direct, MTT looser, and both ways work great.
-
EPS took the first movement a bit faster, but MTT didn't have cellos who could play it as well at that tempo.
-
Afterwards was the longest ovation I've ever heard at SFS. It wouldn't stop until Salonen spoke a few words to the audience.
