Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not only rousing but very rousing, and now it is time for you to post until the very rousing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SENSATION!
-
Happy belated birthday to George's mother.
-
TOD:
I took piano. I would have loved to learn bassoon.
-
Or triangle.

I took piano in middle school through my first couple of years of high school, then in college...but I haven't played since then. I've plunked out parts to learn songs for shows that I've been in, but I haven't just sat down and played in many, many years. Then I finally got rid of my piano last year. It was time.
-
Shaved and will shower shortly and then go to bed.
-
Watching Girl from the North Country. Not liking it at all. The book isn’t interesting. The handling of the songs is uninteresting. It’s not, well, interesting.

Good morning, all!
-
Today is my brother Randy's 68th birthday.
-
Everything aches: my right hand, arm and shoulder; my knees; my hip joints. I slept quite poorly. I think I need a masseur but I have no money. I was sure the book, the ballet, and the Appalachian show would keep me comfortable, but I'm just depressed enough to think I won't ever see money from any of those until after I'm dead.
-
I wish I had some good news.
-
DR Ginny, I'm happy you had a good time with the new grandson. Did you tell us his name and I missed it?
-
DR George, I'm happy that Into the Woods went so smoothly. I've never liked the show, but, strangely, when I played the CD of the Encores!/Broadway revival, I found myself weeping through it. I don't know if I've changed my mind about the show, I was mourning Steve Sondheim, or myself.
-
My right hand is starting up, so I'm off for now.
-
I hope you feel better DR ELMORE.
-
I have to go to the petrol place and the bank this morning.
We shall see what we see.
-
Happy belated birthday to George's mother.
DITTO!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
DR John G., I contributed "Soon It's Gonna Rain," but I guess I forgot to type that one.
-
I am chagrined that I forgot "Come Rain or Come Shine."
-
~~~FEEL BETTER VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003
-
The getting place has had NO YOGURT for two weeks in a row now. Refrigerator cases completely bare. "Supply chain issues."
-
Sounds like my meatball fiasco of a few months ago DR singdaw.
-
Very overcast with rain predicted for today.
I shall be on my way in about ten minutes.
-
It's been several weeks since I checked out the local Goodwill stock....perhaps I will go by there as well....but first I'll watch a few YouTube videos from HOARDERS.
-
Belated happy birthday wishes to George's Mom!
-
Hoping Larry get many opportunities for publicity from the release of the book!
-
These days, there seem to be more of those podcasts where the interviewee appears by remote from their home. Hoping you can get some of those.
-
I'm back for a moment. Kitty cleanup is over and I must make the bed.
-
Next Monday, the apartments on the third floor are being inspected for lead, so I have a bit of tidyiong up that I hope to accomplish bit by bit until then. I'd frankly rather lie down and try to relax than work in the current humidity.
-
A lyric has been haunting the corners of my mind this morning: "When the rain comes" from BK's Broadway Bound recording.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Again, I shall lead off with the weather repor.
In a word, or two words: It sucks.
DR Elmore has humidity. We have ever more continuing rain and just enough of a chill that running the heat on low is just the ticket. And I think they said it will even rain tomorrow before clearing and warming for the weekend. And won't that be a nice change! But... (because there's always a but)...
Hang onto yer ASSES for next week, when we get our first heat wave o' the year. Mid-to-high 90s on Wed./Thurs., with 90-91 on either side.
-
Now, how was that for a rousing contribution to this rousing day?
-
I haven't done a damn thing yet this morning, and it'll be noon before I know it. It will be a day of mundane but necessary indoor tasks, and the spirit has not yet moved me.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about five hours of sleep, but good sleep.
-
I very likely had chili at some point in my 1970s days of eating at House of Pies, but try as I might, I have no solid memories of their foodstuffs other than the pies. The raisin pie was an intense favorite (was it sour cream/raisin?), as were the cream pies, and... oh HELL, almost any o' them pies.
-
In an amazing coincidence, however, I threw together some pasta (shells) and chili last night, using my house standard Hormel no-beans variety, and diced up a red onion. It was the perfect thing, hitting the spot right on target. I'm out of cheese, so no cheddar, but this didn't need it. I do need to get back to making a real chili sometime.
-
Happy belated birthday to George's mother.
Ditto!
-
George I forgot that your mother's birthday was on the same day as my mother.
TOD
Piano, since I could toddle over to it and reach the keys. And organ, on which I took lessons for several years as a kid (from good teachers on good pipe organs), but that eventually gave way to concentrating on piano and other activities. (I've never played it as an adult, but it would be great fun to sit at one and see what the hell I could possibly play on it now. I'm afraid it would be a little like "remembering how to fly" a Cessna, but then climbing into a cockpit of a 747 and trying to fly that.) In school, enjoyed playing some harpsichord in chamber music, but without any formal instruction on it. Celesta in the orchestra, etc.
In high school I got interested in drums from a musical theeder standpoint, got a cheap set and took lessons for a while, and faked my way through a couple of shows. I remember Carnival was one of them. Borrowed a flute and "taught myself" (ha) how to basically get around that, and even the piccolo briefly, and I took one semester of flute lessons. These would be the only things worth even mentioning. I never picked up a guitar, for instance, and anything else I did pick up for a moment, it was just that: a moment.
-
Shouldn't we all be playing some VERY ROUSING NOTES on our respective instruments today?
I don't know if I can even rouse myself to walking to the keyboard...
-
Happy belated birthday to George's mother.
Thanks, John!
No more CDs?
-
I'm glad we donated many of our classical CDs especially, to a nearby arts charity about two years ago, even though we couldn't itemize our deductions so got no benefit of the tax deduction.
-
I'd have felt terrible just throwing those CDs out, and glad giving them to this charity at least has the potential that the CDs will find homes.
I also think of all those hard copy Playbills that people took care of all their theatergoing years, and when they're either gone or maybe they're forced to downsize into smaller quarters for senior living will just go into the trash by their relatives.
-
Except for the celebrity-autographed Playbills, I assume, but maybe even those.
Today is my brother Randy's 68th birthday.
I'd have felt terrible just throwing those CDs out, and glad giving them to this charity at least has the potential that the CDs will find homes.
Lady year while cleaning up, I threw out a LOT of VHS tapes...mostly of Rosie O'Donnell's first talk show where she featured a lot of Broadway numbers. I wish I had taken a little time to watch and/or record them to DVD. :-\
-
Oh, well. Water under the bridge.
I also think of all those hard copy Playbills that people took care of all their theatergoing years, and when they're either gone or maybe they're forced to downsize into smaller quarters for senior living will just go into the trash by their relatives.
I was given a box of Playbills from the 50s and 60s (mostly) and I still have them.
And now, I'm off to my sister's to celebrate my mom's birthday.
Be back later!
Back from breakfast and a meeting and must now futz and finesse.
Anne Burrell of Food Network fame has died.
TOD: I started piano at 5, switched to trumpet at 10, then to voice at 30. I still play the piano enough to help learn my voice parts and play easy things. My trumpet chops finally died altogether a few years ago.
Tuesday evening greetings!
DR Ginny, I'm happy you had a good time with the new grandson. Did you tell us his name and I missed it?
DR Elmore, our grandson is named George (for Mary Linda’s maternal grandfather) Walter (for Rob’s maternal grandfather). That last part kind of undid me for a minute.
DR George, Happy Birr mother! How is shw doing these days?
Thanks, Larry! She's doing pretty well. Her eye has completely healed.
-
Today's birthday barbecue for her at my sister's was simple but fun.
-
We had various kinds of burgers (beef, salmon, and vegan field roast), and I had to do all the barbecuing. ::)
-
But I didn't otherwise have to prepare any of the food, just purchase some of it last night.
-
We had nine people, family and friends, and a good time was had by all. :)
-
And yes, we did play Phase 10, but I forget who won...it wasn't me.
-
We sat outside and watched my niece's chickens while we ate and played cards.
-
It was warm, but not too warm.
-
There was a very nice slight breeze, but it never got windy enough to blow the cards away.
The new Stephen King novel, Never Flinch, is certainly prescient. It deals with a deranged right-winger who wants to kill people who are pro-choice.
For some reason, this reminded me that for about a year, I actually took accordion lessons when I was maybe seven years old.
