Well, you've read the notes, the notes asked the age old question of why hot chicken, and now it is time for you to post until the jealous hot cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SIMPLICITY!

And speaking of blood draws, I had a blood draw on Monday for my appointment today. I got there and had made sure that I had to pee in preparation for the pee test but fortunately, not right then. However, it turns out thst they didn't need that test, so could've gone before I left home! Anyway, today's appointment is only supposed to take a half hour or less, so that's good.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had thought the Con Edison construction on West 82nd Street was pretty much finished, and yesterday morning was filled with the sounds of construction in front of our building. This is most distressing, since it means I may have to reschedule all the appointments I have been rescheduling since April.
-
So, today I must reschedule next week's appointment with a nephrologist my doctor wants me to see, and I may need to reschedule the following week's podiatrist. I am not happy about this.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Appt vibes for DR GEORGE.....and appt rescheduling vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
DR singdaw I don't think the pair of keets need any wine.....I think they are plotting a way to throw their wooden ladder onto the floor of the cage.
-
Another dreary gray rainy day here. And we're supposed to get storms tomorrow afternoon and evening.
All of this is but prelude to the big upcoming HEAT WAVE.
-
Interesting notes.
I saw The Night Digger on the CBS Late Movie - remember for a time the network had a late movie on about 11:30 p.m. or so on weeknights.
-
And director Robert Day was married to Dorothy Provine and they lived up in former DR MBARNUM's neck of the woods.
-
Welcome to the wet and dreary Northeast, DR Rodzinski.
But I wonder if the weather there is like what we have. Sometimes it's different, depending. Depending on what, I don't know.
-
Good morning, friends.

Thanks for sharing photos from your trip, DR John G.

Why did the hot chicken cross the road?
-
I'm looking at photos and descriptions of Dave's Hot Chicken on the web. It apparently is available nationwide, even though I'd never heard of it until now. My initial reaction is ho-hum, yet another chicken sandwich jumping on the bandwagon, but I guess I'd try it if I ever think to when I'm on the hunt for something like that.
Okay, probably not anytime soon, since the closest ones appear to be in Stamford and White Plains.
And their website is completely irritating. I've tried it on two browsers. Something doesn't work right on Safari, and something else doesn't work right on Chrome. You know, I think I'll take this as a sign that I'm done with them. :)
-
Interesting to read in Wikipedia about Dave's Hot Chicken (discussed in BK's notes)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave%27s_Hot_Chicken
"Dave's Hot Chicken celebrity investors include Drake, Samuel L. Jackson, Maria Shriver, Michael Strahan and Tom Werner. In June 2025, Dave’s Hot Chicken was acquired by the private equity firm Roark Capital in a deal valued at $1 billion"

To the best of my memory, I had never seen Ghost Story / Circle of Fear back in the day. I jumped on the DVD set when it was released, and have enjoyed most of the ones I've watched, but you know what? ("What?", they asked. "Please tell us!") I'm almost positive I have yet to see all of the episodes. I expect an anthology like that to be a little uneven, and it is, but I greatly enjoy the BK/Patricia Neal one and have watched that a few times over the years. In spite of her unease, she's wonderful in the finished product, and I've always loved her in everything, anyway.
-
I need to look this up, but someone here will probably know the answer right off the bat:
What was the movie - I'm thinking it was probably a TV movie? - about her stroke and Roald Dahl nursing (forcing) her through to recovery? The one time I saw it, it was on TV when I was in a motel somewhere and I've always meant to seek it out. Was it considered good? Trashy? Other?
-
Another blurb, this one from Rob Berman:
Imaginative, witty, and touching, Larry Moore’s “Annabelle and Thatch” entertainingly renders the soulful bond we form with our beloved pets, and does so with a healthy portion of Broadway flair. If you love animals and you love musical theater, you will love this book!
-
Great blurb, Larry!
Is anything still going on with the recording project you and Rob were doing with Jack Viertel?
-
I've just had a refreshing bath, which was needed in this humidity after cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. As I was sitting on the edge of the tub drying myself, Annabelle ran into the bathroom and jumped onto the ledge with me. Every morning while I'm sitting there cleaning their water bowl, she jumps into the empty tub to entice me into playing with her, petting her, and rubbing her tummy. Before she could make an unwitting leap into six imches of draining water, I luckily caught her and set her on the floor. When she looked as if she was about to do another leap, I sprinkled her with a little bit of water from my hand. I doubt she'll return to the bathroom for several hours.
-
DR singdaw - tomorrow is a Federal Holiday no mail and I'm guessing no banking.
-
DR CHAS SMITH that was The Patricia Neal Story starring Glenda Jackson and Dirk Bogarde.
Press THAT in your book of memories.
-
I met Patricia Neal times a couple of times near the end of her life. She used to do those Theatre Guild cruises to the Caribbean and other spots. I think Dennis Buck introduced us. She was always friendly and positive and, like Julie Wilson, a total delight.

In answer to your earlier question, DR Freddie - have not started watching the new Grantchester episodes yet, but since we have Passport, will probably be binge-watching them soon.

Great blurb, Elmore.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.

I have futzed and finessed and sent pages.
-
And now, I shall be on my way for a blood draw, after which I shall return.
-
I have just finished the story for the newspaper about SHAKESPEARED! And I wonder if anybody gives children an ordinary name nowadays?
I have Syrci, Micaela, Tinzlee, Keyli, Rhian, Jewelee, and Evvi.....to name a few.
-
No polyps 🙂
-
As always, we immediately drove a few blocks to Keith's favorite coffee drive through.
-
After returning to the hotel, and a 10 minute break, we walked a couple of minutes to the restaurant for breakfast.
-
We are back from a nice walk around town which included stops in our favorite shops.
-
I got a nice 50 SPF sun hat. Most hats are too big for me but this one is adjustable.
-
Keith just got Wordle in three. He didn't get caught in the rhyming nightmare.

DR JANE good news all around.

Good afternoon.
-
I have been gone for a few days, up in the Arizona High Country, where the temperatures were so much better than here in the Arizona Low Desert.
-
Back from blood draw - stung a little and then it was over - and a stop at the mail place to pick up a little package from Michael Shayne containing some DVDs.
-
Now I'm home and will order something to eat and then start writing new pages.
-
We had no internet access, which was strange at first. It was nice not having any news.

I'll bet, DR Laura.

Is there anything wrong? You haven't touched your tiramishoe!

Today I learned that Barry Vercoe died on June 15. Barry was my B.S. thesis advisor on some very early music notation software. 20 years later, he was the one who pointed me to David Huron's work on Humdrum and Walter Hewlett's work on MuseData as the best starting points for what became MusicXML. May his memory be a blessing.

-
Got it. So you may NOT cycle in the gardens. But you MAY injure a young child or elderly person. 8)
-
Ten days earlier, David Huron died. Besides his work on Humdrum, which helped inspire MusicXML, listening to him was always inspiring and made me want to do more with music software technology. May his memory be a blessing.

Sorry, DR MichaelG. May their memories be for blessings.
-
DR MichaelG, you have such a rich background in that field. I'm sorry to hear about these two losses.

A woman in our building died, and her family is trying to clear out her apartment. We got these two pieces today - for free!
There are sliders that close to cover the cubbies and drawers. It only cost us the sweat equity to move them. They are really heavy!

I skipped lunch today. Wasn't in the mood. And was sweating profusely from the furniture moving.
-
DR Singdaw, nice gifts. Congrats on managing to move them.
-
Thanks, DR Jane. The deceased was confined to a wheelchair after a car accident some years back. We made a donation to a charity she supported that helps quadriplegics.

Then I am sure the family was glad you wanted the items.
-
The bots must still be around - that last post took a few minutes to post.
-
Yes, there is nothing better than going out for breakfast after that particular "procedure." :)
-
I've always tried to book one of the earliest appointments, but the last time the prep had changed and I had to get up at 3 in the morning to take the 2nd dose (due to the early appointment and the timing).

I gather this is so in New York/New England as well.

Went to the movies. Saw Ballerina. It was a real shoot ‘em up. John Wick style. I enjoyed it.

Yes, there is nothing better than going out for breakfast after that particular "procedure." :)
Unless you are me and just want to sleep ;D

I get to do this in 2 weeks. Oh joy.

The doctor here still does both doses the night before. I won't get a confirmed time until two days prior to my procedure. I'm already stressing that I won't get the early morning time.

Page turn!

Howdy, Rupert!
-
Safe and easy travels home.
-
Last night in Rhode Island, thank Jeebus.
-
Finished with my viewing - did not write as much as I should have. Never heard from Muse Margaret - sometimes that happens - the time gets away from her.
-
Or she hated it.
-
I suppose I'll hear from her in the morning but it has to be before eleven.
-
It's really hard for me to write when I haven't heard back about the last batch of pages.
-
And now, must write some damn notes.
-
I can't dawdle as the latest I can be up in the morning is nine.
-
Boarded.
-
Almost finished with John Collier’s weird and wonderful His Monkey Wife.
-
I think there's a musical version of HIs Monkey Wife - is it Sandy Wilson? I love Collier.
-
Notes are written.
-
I'd really like to write a few more pages before bed.
-
I really would.
-
I really should.
-
I really could.
-
Knock on wood.
-
And so I stood.
-
That's enough of that.
-
Where'd George get to?
-
He was here, then he wasn't.
-
It is a mysterious mystery.
-
He's gone fishin'.
-
But I'm here.
-
No doubt about that.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
It's endless.
-
It just keeps going.
-
Where the HELL is page eight? Now!
-
See?
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
