Well, you've read the notes, the notes changed no words, and now it is time for you to post until the single cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COMPENSATION!

Topic of the Day: I remember Kool-Aid, and most likely apple juice and orange juice and grape juice, maybe lemonade (but probably not that much), and fruit punch from frozen concentrate, and milk. :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
After all the tugging, pulling, pushing, mopping, and vacuuming yesterday, I am surprised that my body does not ache as much as I feared this morning. I slept rather well, but the cat traffic, beginning sometime after 3:00, kept me awake more than I'd like.
-
The alarm rang at 5:15. Because these inspectors are showing up this morning, I want to have kitty cleanup finished and the bed made by 8:00. Then I can relax.

TOD
Tomato, apple, cherry, cranberry, pineapple, grape, orange, and grapefruit juices
I haven't had it in years, but I used to love V-8.

Sending inspection vibes!
Might this inspection get you some of the Medicare home help that had been talked about?
-
BK, such great news about Muse Margaret's reaction, and that the book will get to the proofers soon!
And your output is such an inspiration, and doing it while doing shows at the same time!
-
TOD: I really enjoyed the varieties of Ocean Spray cranberry drinks for a long time, but have tried to replace those with water in recent years.
Orange Julius had been a favorite as well.
-
Good morning, friends.

Today a city inspector comes to check the electrical work we had done a few weeks ago.

A bit cooler here today, with a chance of thunderstorms.

~~~INSPECTION VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003!!!
-
TOD: the usual suspects.
But does anyone remember these? We would get them rarely, as a special treat.
-
I remember Fizzies - they took FOREVER to dissolve.
-
Good news about MM and the book.
I am very excited to find out the details.
-
In the summer time - we had Kool-Aid almost every day.....I liked the lemon lime and the root beer flavors - the orange not so much. Lemonade flavor Kool-Aid was okay.
But I liked real lemonade and grape juice as well.....not together of course.
And iced tea was nice sometimes.
Okay, kids, start your engines, the heat wave is ON.
We should be reaching 95 today, 97 tomorrow, and low 90s on Wednesday. Then it breaks, and Thursday's high will be high 70s.
-
Of course, people like DRs John G. and Laura will see those numbers and laff and laff.
-
Best vibes for a positive and productive inspection, DR Elmore!
Thanks! The bed is made, I've told the cats to behave (ha!), and now we wait. I'm now waiting to get the damned thing over so I can relax and chill out.
-
TOD
We were absolutely brought up on Kool-Aid. No idea now what my favorite flavors were, but I'm going to guess strawberry, cherry, grape... but we probably had them all.
For juices, we certainly had orange and grape, which I found okay, but once we moved to Florida, the fresh orange and grapefruit juices became the thing. Tomato juice sometimes, but I, too, adopted V-8 as my preferred in later years.
My mother's iced tea (sweet tea) was always a treat. It never got old. To this day, iced tea is something that, whenever I think to have it, I always wonder why I don't just have it constantly. And indeed, why don't I? Same with iced coffee, which I also love. But iced tea had, and continues to have, the magic.
-
The news this morning is nothig but heat alarms. Luckily, I have no reason to leave the apartemnt, the AC thermostat is set at 76, and as soon as this inspection is over, I'm lying down and chilling out.
-
I forgot about Kool-Aid; I never liked it much but on hot days I preferred it to cold water. I cannot remember all the flavors, but my memory is my mother preferred to buy grape. She also preferred iced tea and lemonade. She had a lovely crystal glass juicer, and all summer there was always a ton of lemons sitting in the fridge and waiting for her to squeeze the life out of them.
-
Today a city inspector comes to check the electrical work we had done a few weeks ago.
Sending successful inspection vibes!
-
I've gone back to iced tea since I think carbonated drinks were the major cause of my stomach issues. My current favorite is this Celestial Seasonings herbal tea.
-
Yesterday, after ignoring it for several days, I returned to my Evita book to finish finessing the sounds as well as can be done before we actually get together and start playing. That will be this Sunday, sitzprobe, followed by tech week and opening. I do look forward to hearing what this group, and indeed the cast, are going to sound like. The last production of this locally was about a decade ago (a rather incredible high school production which mimicked the Hal Prince AND was well performed). The previous one, which wasn't even that close to here, was a good decade before that.
-
Did no one else see The Brutalist?
Is that the story of a Broadway theater producer?
-
My pronouns are hardy/har/har.
LOL!
-
Nowadays, I almost always order an Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonade).
-
I haven't had any Celestial Seasonings in a long time. That one looks tempting.
-
It could be DR FREDDIE.
-
squeeze the life out of them.
That also sounds like the story of a Broadway theater producer.
Or maybe the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. (almost an I Love Lucy reference)
-
Nowadays, I almost always order an Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonade).
Love those. It's been a while since I had one. The real thing made from scratch, of course, is the greatest.
-
DR Jrand74, I have not yet seen The Brutalist, mainly because so many impressions I read about it seemed contradictory and I could never determine my level of interest in it.
-
Welcome to the Trump Whorehouse where everyone is royally screwed!
Controversy over Kristen Chenowith’s performance of the national anthem at the game last night. Some people didn’t like the fact that she could sing it, I guess. They called it Broadway. I found it simple. It was sung a cappella. It was fine. Nothing to get worked up about.
-
TOD:
We drank Tang, because the astronauts did. I remember orange, grape and grapefruit flavors. I still have a Tang water pitcher that I use.
-
I still like cherry juice. Helps me sleep. And a sparkling lemonade or limeade is my favorite in summer.
Fortunately my mother did not serve Kool-Aid or Tange, expect maybe for trying them once.
-
We often had fresh lemonaid.
-
Tang always tasted a bit bitter to me.
-
I forgot about Tang!
Yes, and I think we liked it okay. Maybe didn't love it, though, and maybe wouldn't now.
Which reminds me -- sometimes when following a real low-carb diet I'll take some sugar-free Metamucil for fiber. Their orange flavor, for me, tastes like Tang...my half-century-old memory of Tang, that is.
Of course - the Astronauts!
I'm up, I'm up - maybe a bit less than eight hours of sleep.
Well TCM strikes again.
I have just seen a 1930 film called The Matrimonial Bed - and it was a hilarious farce.
It was preceded by a Tallulah Bankhead film and now a Constance Bennett film is coming up.
The them for this morning was The Hollywood Sewing Circle (Lilyan Tashman was featured in TMB).
The male lead was Frank Fay - who was Barbara Stanwyck's first husband. I had only seen photos of him when he was much older. He was no Cary Grant, but he was nice looking enough and he was very FUNNY.
It should be ON Demand later this week and if anyone is interested, you might seek it out. There are several laughs.
"You grabbed me and kissed me - on the spot!"
"On the......"
Is the inspection over, Elmore?
Yes. It took about 20 minutes. This nice young man came in with this hand-held monitor that he put to the wall all over the apartment. He showed it to me: this little screen on the monitor shgowed a wavy line, like a graph. He said i had little lead and left. Stella liked him and she followed him everywhere.
Kristen was the very best Louisa in The Fantasticks that I ever saw, and i've seen many. She has a lovely voice, but she's lazy; her coloratura in "Glitter and Be Gay" is lax and sloppy. She's got the chops but i don't think she works at it.
