Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nice and didn't cough, and now it is time for you to post until the coughing cows come home.

And the word of the day is: RALLY!

Good morning, all!

I slept rather well. I have no news.

George, that was a very interesting comparison in last night's posts of the different versions of Titanica!

More feel-better vibes for BK.

Such good news. Peter was a good friend of ours.
Peter was also music director and pianist when I presented my show way back in 1994 in Stephen Schwartz and Michael Kerker's Workshop, before a panel which was Mr. Sondheim and Mr. Schwartz. A special day, and Peter made that go well.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t wanna get up.
-
Cooler this morning....but heating up this afternoon.
-
I watched the documentary on Sunday - and I agree with everything MR BK wrote in the notes.
My question for ASK BK DAY: What is your favorite Jayne Mansfield movie?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Boy, did we get the deluge last night. I'm so relieved that they went with the forecast well in advance and had the rehearsal indoors. We ran the entire score with just band and the three leads. Got some stuff cleaned up, but there are a couple of students in the band, and even this somewhat "sanitized" revised score is challenging in parts if you don't have the sound of Evita in your ears, so there's still too much slop. It should hopefully be cleaner by the weekend.
-
I know next to nothing about Jayne Mansfield except for seeing her in a couple of movies. Maybe I'll seek out the documentary sometime and learn a little something.
-
Notes evacuiquiated. Recalcitrated.
-
I’m partial to Jayne’s The Fat Spy. Which is a terrible and unfunny Jack E. Leonard vehicle. But is also kinda good and features some sweet pop tunes.
-
We leave for LA tonight. The boy Rodz seems to have developed swimmers ear. So we likely will spend our last day at a clinic here.

As a kid, I was prone to getting ear infections when I had a bad cold, and I also remember it being called swimmer's ear. Is swimmer's ear just what they call being prone to it?
I've only had one ear infection as an adult, but it was a doozy requiring antibiotics. Ear aches are a nasty feeling. I hope to never have another.
-
Ask BK:
I'm late in answering the recent TOD about cold remedies, and I don't remember if you said you ever try cough medicines, specifically.
My go-to is Robitussin DM (don't ask me what the variations mean, I just know the "DM" variety works for me), and I do fine with cheaper store brand equivalents, usually called Tussin DM or some such.
Lately I've learned my lesson, which is to start taking it while I have the cold and NOT wait till the cold's almost passed and I'm starting the ubiquitous lingering cough. However, that being said, it's never too late to start. When I was first introduced to it, I was in the throes of constant coughing following a cold, and it absolutely helped to quiet it and give me some peace and relief. Highly recommended by me, regardless of whatever other cold remedies a person likes.
-
TOD:
I hauled out your recording of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change the other day and forgot both Jennifer Simard and Danny Brustein were in it. Any stories of working with thrm?

TOD:
I hauled out your recording of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change the other day and forgot both Jennifer Simard and Danny Brustein were in it. Any stories of working with thrm?
Whoa. I haven't listened to that in several years, and I'd forgotten it was one of BK's. I loved it, and that recording served me well when I crash-learned the score to play it for a local theeder group for one weekend. It turned out to be a great experience and I've always wanted to have another go at it when I can take more time to learn it better.
(I'm only familiar with the original version, not the "revisal" that multiplies the couples. The original might be dated, but so are other such shows. It had charm and was a lot of fun, and I didn't think it needed to be expanded in any way.)
-
Vibes for the RODZ son.
I forgot about The Fat Spy.
-
Priscilla is sitting on the swing....I don't think I've ever seen her do that.
-
Usually it's just a jumping off point between perches.

Good afternoon!

Nice.

I don’t wanna get up.
I did not want to get up when the alarm rudely woke me at 5:30.
-
I'm often away by then but due to the effects of my prep yesterday I couldn't go to bed until 2:45.
-
Nice for you too DR Kevin.
-
It seems more biopsies than usual were done with my endoscopy. Of course, my throat is very sore from the tube going down me.
-
I was hoping for a a report of no polyps for my colonoscopy. Not so as I had two.
-
Even with a couple of polyps I was told, depending on the biopsy results, I am done with colonoscopies due to my age.
-
I'm not arguing that, yet there seem to be differing opinions on this. The doctor in Ashland said he would reassess in five years and decide depending on Keith's health. If he retires before then Keith will definately be done ;D
-
My father had colon cancer when he was 80.

Oh no. I hope he will be permitted to swim this summer. I'm thinking you might need to pick up some earplugs for the pool.

Favorite Jayne performance - The Wayward Bus. Favorite Jayne movie Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter, then The Girl Can't Help It.

Thanks, DRs Jane and George, for the Wordle words yesterday!

George, that was a very interesting comparison in last night's posts of the different versions of Titanica!
I know. I don't recall hearing about such editing differences in a movie or documentary before...well, that I recall. ::)
;)
-
Good choices DR JOHN G and MR BK.
I like The Girl Can't Help It and Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter......BUT Tom Ewell and Tony Randall don't do it for me.
And Rock Hunter has the added drag of Betsy Drake.
-
Jrand, did I miss or forget discussion of this: Are Tony Randall's performances negative aspects of the Doris Day-Rock Hudson movies for you?

Was Miles Gloriosus in FORUM saying "Stand aside, everyone. I take large steps." a reference to that?

I made the mistake of eating a protein bar and now my esophagus hurts. I was warned to eat gentle foods. I have a sweet potato in the oven baking hoping it will be very gentle.
-
Good afternoon.
-
Jane, I'm sorry you didn't get the report you wanted. Vibes the polyps are nothing. I hope your throat feels better soon.
-
I think I'd be eating mashed potatoes now, if I were you.
-
We were out camping in the woods. Sometimes we had internet, which surprised me.
-
I crossed an item off my Bucket List yesterday.
-
I was hiking alone, and I hiked down into a sinkhole. Imagine rolling out bread dough nice and thick and then using a big cookie cutter to cut straight down and lift the big circle out.
-
It was so green and lush. The trail wraps around the outside of the sinkhole and goes down like a spiral. The plants and birds in the sinkhole were different than what was up at the surface. I think I spooked up an owl, which flew off.
-
I was almost to the bottom of the sinkhole, with all those lush thick plants and trees.
-
I coughed.
-
Then I heard the mama bear snort, and I saw the cubs scurrying up the tree.
-
Let's just say you've never seen an old gal climb up the trail out of the sinkhole so fast!
-
It took me five minutes to hike down the sinkhole, and three minutes to get out.
-
If I hadn't coughed, I would have walked right up to them. I wasn't far at all. I couldn't see through the lush green shrubs.
-
When I got out, some other hikers were just coming with their small dog. I told them not to go down. We stood at the surface and could hear the mama and cubs vocalizing to each other.
-
Jane, I'm sorry you didn't get the report you wanted. Vibes the polyps are nothing. I hope your throat feels better soon.
Thank you. I am expecting the colon polyps to be ok while a bit more concerned about the endoscopy ones.

Yeah, doesn’t have to be from swimming, even. But a little moisture stuck in the canal can hasten the problems.
-
I was never threatened. I just heard the scuffle of the cubs' claws on the tree trunk and saw it climbing up.
-
I made the mistake of eating a protein bar and now my esophagus hurts. I was warned to eat gentle foods. I have a sweet potato in the oven baking hoping it will be very gentle.
Hope you feel better quickly, Jane.
-
I think I'd be eating mashed potatoes now, if I were you.
I tried a little ice cream again and it only helped a little. Black licorice helps except I can only eat a couple of pieces a day. I think the potato will be soothing. Maybe I will scramble some eggs to go with it.

We found a doc next to a pharmacy. Was like a doc office unchanged since the 1960s. Just quickly saw us, this 90 year old French doc, gave the boy an ear drop then prescribed some more and some amoxicillin. Probably easiest doc appt ever.

It rained today while I was helping out at the food pantry.

If the nose drops aren't enough, I have used steamy paper towels held up to the ear. You might google what to do in case there is a problem. Better methods might be suggested these days compared to when Bryan was young.

Rodzinski, I don't know how old Little Boy is, but you can see if you can find Afrin and see if it's ok to give a child his age. That will open the nasal passages and help with the clogged ears.

The Fat Spy features, in fact, opens with, the band the Wild Ones. Before the opening credits even begin. The Wild Ones were led by Jordan Christopher who is a romantic lead in the film and later starred in Angel Angel Down We Go.
The Wild Ones were the first band to record Wild Thing before British Invasion band, the Troggs took it to the top of the charts.
After Richard Burton dumped his wife, Sybil, for Liz Taylor, she married Jordan Christopher. She ran a nightclub in NYC where the Wild Things would play. It was a discotheque called Arthur. The couple stayed married until he died in 1996.
The Wild Ones have a soft spot in my heart also for performing the theme to “Lord Love a Duck.”

Because that's NOT FUN.
-
NUF TON, spelled backward.
-
They were also out of kettle-cooked potato chips.
-
Which I don't normally eat, but thought it might be fun for the holiday.
-
Ah, well.
-
Frankly, I only recognized about 3 of the 9 "stars."
:) I'd been feeling that way about Dancing With the Stars for a long while.
-
I hope we are not going back to the days of HOARDING.
Can you say HOARDING on a family site?
-
We tested our upcoming new telephony software today. I feel a little more comfortable now, but it's going to be big change. And the "go live" date is less than 2 weeks out.
-

Good question, DR Freddie. We may both be in the dog house.

Vibes it all works out in time, singdaw.
-
That was strange. My auto-correct, or whatever it's called, tried to change singdaw to sundae.

Who knows if the dog house is all bad? With Farmers Dog, sometimes I think Liam gets better-for-you food than I get when I get fast food.
-
I wouldn't mind being called sundae.
-
The DH returns tomorrow night.
-
Delivery is dangerous. It's so easy to go online and order Jersey Mike's in and not have to move one's ass to go get it.
Is clicking the toggle thing to add extra cheese considered exercise?
-
Tony Randall could be insufferable and ruins Lover Come Back for me.
But I can see why he was famous.
Tom Ewell is utterly charmless and baffling to me.
-
Like a worse Bob Cummings.

Sundae Yummy Sundae - the story of an idealized Sunday Bloody Sunday

IIRC, Johnny Carson was in a Broadway show with Tom Ewell, or maybe standing by for Tom Ewell?
-
singdaw, what do you think - was the randy Vicar in GRANTCHESTER more fun when he was hopping into bed with a different woman every other episode?
-
Is clicking the toggle thing to add extra cheese considered exercise?
I would say so, DR Freddie.
-
Page Nine? Wow!

I notice how thin my fingers are getting. (a Totie Fields reference)

Undecided. But it is kind of odd how this little out-of-the-way English hamlet gets 3 exceedingly handsome vicars in a row!
-
That's how it works in TV, I guess.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
NYC Mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani's mother is filmmaker Mira Nair.
The star of GRANTCHESTER is Rishi Nair.
-
Google tells us they're not related, though.

For hamlets and handsomeness, there's got to be a "TV or not TV" quip in there somewhere.

Your theater card is being revoked.
Frances Sternhagen, On Golden Pond, Angel
Tom Aldredge, Into the Woods, The Nervous Set
George Hearn, La Cage, Sweeney
Linda Lavin, Superman, The Mad Show
Theodore Bikel, The Sound of Music
David Dukes, Amadeus

Like a worse Bob Cummings.
Agree. Even in Hitchcock movies.
-
Starting the new version of The Wedding Banquet. It’s surprisingly good.
-
Why surpringly? I just didn’t think it needed a remake.

~~~DITTO!!~~~
Finished with my viewing.
-
Had a pastrami sub from Mr. Pickles - I liked it when I first tried it and it's not bad but I think the romance is over.
-
I got everything ready for the designer but I'll send in the morning.
-
Also heard from the blurber who'd never gotten back to me. Unfortunately, he's been sick and healing is slow so he's not up to it.
-
At around five, I sat on my couch like so much fish and began looking for a movie.
-
Next thing I know it's eight o'clock.
-
That is too much damn sleep.
-
Oh, no. Hopefully, he recovers quickly!
-
As to coughing, only one short but potent jag - but yesterday's jags have really killed my voice so I'm trying not to talk too much, if at all, until it gets stronger.
-
I'm thinking about having a drumstick ice cream - I probably shouldn't, but I kind of need a little treat.
-
I've mostly had water today.
-
I think I'll cool down the house a bit.
-
Enter page TEN! That's what I'm TALKIN' about.
-
Sorry for the lateness of the notes but no one is here to read them anyway.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Post delete. ::)
-
I'll post about what I found on the new day. :)
Gratuitous Post #280!! :D
